[Q] Where Are The AOSP Roms and Full Custom Kernels - HTC Sensation

So how long do you think it will be till we get some AOSP Roms?
Example I bought this phone because I had to have Wifi Calling since the area I lived in, and bought the phone for the specs.
But I know not everyone loves Sense and was wondering when we will see the full AOSP Roms that are just pure Android.
Also how long do you think it will be till we see some real kernels with features.
Full EXT4
BFS Scheduler
Overclock upto 2Ghz (if possible, since phones can do 1.78 fine)
Kernel update to 2.6.38
updated drivers
I know we got the kernel source from HTC.

Also when are we going to see good ol Cyanogenmod 7!!!

I would be happy with one good AOSP rom for right now

[Q] Is anyone looking into porting the international One X roms to the XL??

I know, sounds like a complete noob question....
but seriously, I'm coming from an Inspire 4G/Desire HD, where roms were able to be used on like 10 devices.
Is anyone looking into getting ROM's ported to the One XL from the tegra 3 One X?? Seems like it would be an awesome way to get our (slowly moving) dev section going. I love what we have done, there just isn't much going yet. I would love to get into this myself, but my ROM building experience is still very low.
Until we get kernel source we're on hold. Besides the tegra vs krait differences there are different radios to contend with.
i keep forgetting how important kernal source is....thanks for the reply hope HTC releases it soon, 30 days is coming up soon
is it HTC's policy to release kernel source after 30days?
...and even with kernel source, we'll still need S-OFF (complete nand) access, and from what i've gathered that could be awhile

There's another thread floating around that quotes an HTC rep saying 90-120 days.
i thought it was law to release within 30 days?
We don't need s-off. Look at the dev section on the international hox. They don't have s-off. Plenty of roms without it.

Linaro Android nearly doubles ICS performance

Here's an interesting article some of you guys might enjoy.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...e-and-now-parts-of-it-are-being-added-to-cm9/
News started to trickle out this week about a new Android build called Linaro. Basically, it takes stock Android 4.0.4 and makes it super-fast, and super-awesome(er). In fact, it can boost performance by up to 100 percent over stock. Considering how fast and fluid stock Android 4.0.x already is (especially compared to older versions of the OS), that's quite impressive. Don't take my word for it, though, here's one of the main Linaro guys, Bernhard Rosenkranzer, showing it off on a TI Pandaboard. The Pandaboard features the OMAP 4430 processor (the same one that's in the Droid RAZR), so this is definitely a real-world example of what Linaro is capable of:
As you can see, the Linaro build finishes long before the stock Android build. That's not the best part though: the parts of Linaro that make is so efficient and fast are coming soon to Cyanogenmod 9.
Basically, parts of the Linaro code have been submitted to the CM9 gerrit and are currently awaiting approval. Once commited, these tweaks will be added to the main CM9 code, giving all supported devices a drastic increase in performance.
The good news doesn't end there, though: Galaxy Nexus owners can already take an unofficial CM9 build with the Linaro bits for a whirl. From what we've read, this build is noticeably faster and more fluid right out of the gate. Awesome.
Since the first rule of CM is don't ask for ETAs, we have no idea when we could start seeing builds show up with Linaro code, so for now, we'll all just have to take comfort in knowing that things in the CM9 world are getting ready to get a lot faster.

There's already Linaro'd CM9 build for the GNexus. And Linaro tweaks are soon going to be added to the official CM9 even before Google can implement it. What do the developers here think of Linaro? Will you be willing to Linaro your roms?

I have a nexus and I can say that it is simply a placebo... gaming performance decreases and it's hardly noticeable while doing daily tasks - web browsing, video steaming, scrolling, listening to music, etc. My quadrant boosted by 300 - from 2036 to 2336... not great. I don't OC so I can't speak for those who did to augment the effectiveness of Linaro. I'm not saying Linaro isn't effective but your GCC tool chain must be compatible in order to fully implement some "raw" power.

This thread is pretty much dead but I thought I'd throw in my opinion. Atm, I'm running an unofficial build directly from Linaro and is untouched by any other dev, such as kernel, tweaks, OC etc..
Its not blow your mind amazing compared to past roms, what is amazing though is how much faster it is than stock (which was/is the main sell point of linaro project) My second GNex was stock for about 4 months before I decided to go back to custom roms. Obviously it would be faster/smoother but with my first GNex I spent quite a bit finding the right rom/kernel/tweaks/OC combo to made it this useable. With this build, I have added nothing. Plus from what I understand, its not necessarily a tweak but rather an optimization that uses an updated install method to better integrate the OS and its processes or something like that.
Linaro is definitely on to something here, or Google wouldn't be pulling pieces of Linaro code. Lol

It doubles ONE benchmark which is not a significant part of normal operation, it does NOT "nearly double ICS performance".
god I hate the game of "telephone" where people read one thing, pass it on with minor errors, and before long you have complete and total utter bull****.
In most benchmarks, the Linabug tweaks give no benefit at all. They also give very little benefit on devices where most components are binary vendor blobs.
The Linabug prep in CM has broken piles of stuff over the past two weeks, and if the compiler switch happens it's going to be hell - expect piles of obscure bugs that are next to impossible to track down.
Compiler tweaks are way overrated - I speak as a reformed Gentoo ricer here. I drank the kool-aid for years and then came to my senses.

Kernel source availibility

I just switched over to the Blaze from the Sensation (very similar phones) due to a handset warranty claim and was wondering if the kernel source is available for this ROM.
I have a lot of development experience, and while none of it is in kernel work, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring and see if I can give some kernel love to the blaze... add some of the features in other mernels to our Blaze.

[Q] Best kernel for CM 10.1 Stable?

I'm about to pass on my beloved Nexus S to my best friend complete with cm 10.1. He asked me if I could optimize the phone so whilst performing good enough, has the best battery life available. He's already going to buy a new battery for it. However I know kernels too can dramatically enhance the runtime of the phone.
So, with that in mind, what is the best, stable, kernel for the Nexus S, that is also compatible with CM 10.1 stable?
I tried a few kernels in the past but always settled for stock cm, even though I understand more battery optimized kernels are out there.
Thanks for reading.
I used Mathkid's Matrix v.25 kernel. I love the voodoo colors and sound.

Is Nexus 5 worth buying for using till Q2 2018?

Hey Guys , so after selling my Xiaomi Redmi 2 a week back I was looking for a new phone with great community support. I am getting the used Nexus 5 (32GB) for around 80$ in my country India. So my question is the device still worth it ?
How is the battery life , camera (both front and back) and gaming performance with nougat roms ? Can I get the camera samples ?
Thanks in advanced.
I believe the new Pixel camera wont function on the N5 due to some technical difficulties and hardware limitations, and the Nougat ROMs are all ports since there was no official release for the N5, which has a limitation regarding CDMA, I.E. - Sprint and Sprint MVNOs will NOT work on any of the Android 7 ROMs. As for battery life, the N5 was never known to be very good in this department, although many custom kernels address this issue, amd as far as the N5 rear camera, lets just say it was always said that it could have been better, and now, 4 years after the release of the N5, it is definitely obsolete. But the N5 was a phone aimed to give flagship performance at a bargain price, so corners HAD to be cut in places... No SD card is one more such area. My thoughts are this.... It has a Snapdragon 800, 2Gb RAM, and either 16 or 32Gb memory... These 3 facts are the biggies, and the N5 STILL outperforms almost ALL bargain phones today. Just the processor alone makes it worth the money, as well as the cordless charging, unlocked BL, and MultiROM custom recovery. One last thing though, the N5 was made back when the OS was less than 1Gb, much less, so you could install lots of system apps, the current Android 7 OS is barely under 1Gb WITHOUT any of the bigger GAPPS zips. The N5 is capped at 1Gb for your OS files, sooooo, you wont be able to flash an OS/GAPPS that is over 1Gb in size, you might want to take that into consideration before you buy a phone which still outperforms most new non-flagship devices, but is nontheless still obsolete. Good luck, hope this helped.

Thanx for your reply mate.
i will say go for it.. The only thing i had against the phone was its battery.. in the stock os, battery life is terrible.. But since flashing the unofficial hammerhead caf lineage os by phoval, i hav started loving the phone again coz the battery life has become manageable.. i plan to keep it atleast till 2019.. @Battlecreed5

I'm a long time user but getting really annoyed with the worsening battery life. Where can I find out more about unofficial hammerhead caf roms and how to install them. Does it allow using Xposed?
Switched on My N5 after a long time. It still runs smoother & faster than some of my 2016 mid-range devices. I'm loving the performance:victory:. For me the only con is it's camera(Lol I didn't bought N5 for camera) & battery backup (managing somehow):silly: The device is good but you can get better devices than this at this time!!:highfive:

Agreed, changing to a battery conservative ROM will help, as will a custom kernel. Unfortunately I made too many performance enhancements with Ex Kernel, like over clocking the CPU from 2.2 to 2.3, which negated any battery saving settings. Now I just Fast Charge it and let Ex Kernel do its thing in Battery Saver mode when it gets low.
I just did the same thing - last month I bought a N5 for dirt cheap and it runs great. I just yesterday put PureNexus ROM on it so that I can have 7.1.1. I am amazed at how smoothly it runs. While it will not replace my N6 as my daily driver, it is a more than capable phone still.

Please help me out. I have a rooted nexus 5 running stock 5.1.1 but I have no experience with other roms. Where do I find them? PureNexus ROM and others.

Deep inhale....
Ok, here we go. The Nexus 5 Android Development section of the forums is the best source of information for that. Here you will find popular original ROMs like PureNexus, Resurrection Remix, Nitrogen OS, and more. As to which one to use, that is kind of a personal preference. Each ROM offers a unique experience.
Additionally, more ROMs can be found in the Nexus 5 Original Android Development section of the forums. Here you will find ROMs based on other ROMs, primarily stock-like ROMs like LineageOS (previously Cyanogenmod), as well as custom recoveries and kernels.
You can also stick with stock, 6.0.1 is available directly from Google - it is a nice upgrade over your 5.1.1 stock setup.
If you are unfamiliar with flashing ROMs, might I suggest starting with this guide on how to unlock your bootloader (which you probably have already done since you have root), how to install a custom recovery like TWRP. Once this is done, you are open to the world of customization.
Please let me know if I can be of any more help.
Deep exhale....
Thank you. That's what I needed. Where I should go to find out more.
I'm already rooted. Just have not tried other roms.

Visit each ROMs thread. Watch YouTube reviews. Or just flash some for yourself and try different ones out. I loved cyanogenmod nut haven't tried out LineageOS yet. I'm on PureNexus on this N5 I am currently using because a lot of people on XDA recommended it.
What kind of thing now are you looking for in a ROM?
Something that would give me more battery life and yet be stable. I also use xposed which may be a hindrance as it only works with pure stock Android.

As xposed is not currently available to Nougat, you'll probably be best sticking with a Marshmallow based ROM, maybe even stock.
I can tell you that a ROM like Pure Nexus has a lot of features built into the ROM similar to what many modules from xposed offer - for me, it is a no brainer to have the text in place of a battery icon in the status bar. Also, Nougat has a restart built-in to the ROM, so that solves the other problem I had with stock Android. Just give it a whirl!
