I recently installed the dreaded 2.3.3. Looking through the threads, it appears that reverting is not an option. I now cannot sync my corporate email (MS Exchange) using Active Sync. I keep getting an error message of 'Allow SMIME encryption algorithm negotiation, Allow desktop sync, Allow remote desktop'. Can anyone tell me a way to allow these features?
I'm stuck here too. I upgraded to the Android Revolution Rom and now I'm unable to get corporte email!
Honestly if this is your personal phone I'd recommend not syncing your phone with your job's exchange service. Once you do it practically becomes their property forcing you to treat it as a corp phone which they can disable any time. Unless they're paying your bill you're better off asking for a corp phone.

Hi all,
I'm trying to set up Activesync to connect OTA to my company's exchange server so I can get my mail pushed to me.
I got the connection deets from IT, but they included a non-standard port, 8993, as part of the URI. I thought, no biggie, I'll just stick them into Activesyc, MS's well-established Exchange connectivity bridge.
But no luck. It sits there for ages then times out. I can access this URI fine from my PC. I can rule out the ISP (O2) as I can access it via telnet from the device. Which leaves Activesync itself. This is backed up by the occasional comment on obscure web posts.
Does anyone know how I can set Activesync to use a non-standard port for its Exchange connections? I don't mind going into the reg but I imagine there must be an easier way to do this. Lots of businesses with draconian IT policies must have this problem?
Kinda important as I just ordered a Touch Pro, and I'll have to cancel that posthaste if I can't get Exchange syncing going on..
thanks!
First off I'm coming from the iPhone 3G, and HTC Aria and all I have to say is this phone is so slow when using it with an Exchange server. I have reset the phone several times and it will be running fast but as soon as I setup an Exchange profile, the phone slows down. It will 5 to 10 seconds to load an email then another 5 to 10 seconds to load the content of the email.
I really want to like this phone but can't handle the slowness. The HTC Aria is so much faster (why if it has a slower processor). Even my iPhone is faster (with 4.0) and that's not saying much.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
The Aria feels faster because it has half the pixels to push, so there's less overhead in just running the display and UI elements.
I use my Captivat with exchange. With no lag at ll. I have a very large mailbox with lots of folders and I haven't had a problem. My exchange server security settings do force me to set a password lock for the phone though.
Yeah, the password is annoying. Especially annoying since it's a numeric entry but the keyboard that pops up in in alpha, requiring an extra step. If I can't bypass it, I'd like a straight numeral only keyboard, with big numbers to make it faster.
My Milestone running 2.1 never prompted me for passwords when connecting to the corp server, but like most Android devices,(N1 excluded) the Email client was diddled by the manufacturer.
Besides the password annoyance, the email client on the Captivate is superior though, I'd say it's one of the best Android implementations of Exchange support yet (but then again, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king ).
Password is a policy enforced/pushed down from the exchange server. I know my corp. exchange enforces the password/PIN policy when I use WM. But supprisely, my Captivate didn't ask for one. It may asked but the screen didn't popup. My email app stayed in a blank screen for quite a few minutes. And somehow it get bypassed.
I know my IT admin won't be too happy to hear this.

Could it be your exchange itself? have you set the server to sync contacts? have you let it do that? is it syncing calendars? have you let that happen as well. How many messages are you making it download at a time, all of them? remember that while the phone has tons of ram each individual app runs in its own container so sometimes if it can't allocate ram fast enough you will see slow down. Also using exchange is a processor intensive task, do you have a task killer? can you go into settings and see whats running when you do this? these are things you should check. Your phone may seem real chipper and fast but when the big guns come out it'll slow down if there is a lot of apps running.
its akin to a windows comp running itunes, firefox, limewire, dos prompt, and vuze without issue...as soon as you start encoding a video on top of that, **** is gonna slow down.
I have an exchange server and I haven't been experiencing any problems, but I only have it set to download the last 25 messages and I use the server search to search for any old ones should I need them.
lemme know what you find
No problems with exchange for me.On 3g it takes about 5 secs from clicking on an email to reading it. I'm moving from an iphone and the only thing I'm missing is the threaded emails.

Hi, I have the same issue on my nexus one. Phone slow to a drag when syncing with Exchange. What i did was, log on to the exchange website on the computer, go to the setting section and then mobile phone section. Then delete all the mobile device ID associate with that account and setup the exchange account from the phone again. I never have any issue since.
I'm also getting slowness with Exchange. It takes me about 15-25 seconds just to pull up a new email. It "seems" like it's not actually getting the email until I try to open it, but I have it set to download the maximum size when it arrives.
Also, when I rooted the phone, it stopped asking me for the password on the unlock screen. Go figure.
Anyone able to use the stock email app without any problems? I can't access my work email with the stock app. I downloaded touchdown and it works without any problems, currently using the trial, $20 not worth it IMO.
No, i have no issues with Exchange using the stock app. I connect to Exchange 2003 so I can't speak for newer versions of Exchange. Do you get any error messages?
I get a cannot connect to server message. It's not a connection issue though, if I type my password wrong, I'll get a incorrect password message.

Hmm, so you have the correct domain\username, correct mail server, checked ssl settings, and you get the same message? The problem could be on the server end. Can other android users connect to your company's exchange?
Also, if Touchdown is too pricey, you can try Enhanced Email, i've used it before and it works really well. The only downside is that it's not great with your battery.
Yes other android users are able to connect. I'm also able to connect on my girlfriends Mytouch 4G.
Are you running a ROM? If not, the only thing i can think of that might work is doing a factory reset. I had a problem connecting once but it was due to a bad flash. Did you already clear cache and data from the stock email app?
Some ROMs
Some ROMs have a working email client for my corporate email, some don't. I ahd not luck with Weapon g2x, but Trigger worked, for example. Also the nighlies I used (up to 104) worked, but miui doesn't seem to work.
My advice is try ROMs until you find one that works and report the bug onthe forums if you notice problems.
So far I've tried:
Stock 2.2
Stock 2.3
Weapon G2x
Latest CM7 nightly 119
All have the same problem. Could this be a hardware problem? It's weird, why does touchdown work without any problems?
Miui
I am using the latest Miui and it seems to work with exchange. OTOH, I was able to get several of the nightlies to work with my exchange server too.
LG G2X Corporate Email (Microsoft Exchange) Connection Problem
My phone is a T-Mobile LG G2x (LGP999) running Android 2.3.3 (latest version is updated); using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (not sure what version of Microsoft Exchange is being used)
When I try to setup a corporate email (Microsoft Exchange) on my LG G2x (P999), I am receiving an error message that states: "This server requires security features your phone does not support". The steps are as follows:
1.) Go to the Email application from the main menu.
2.) Select MS Exchange.
3.) Set up email: Type your full email address and password.
4.) Server Settings: Type Domain\Username; Password; Server; Select check boxes “Use secure connection (SSL)” and optional “Accept all SSL certificates” when first box is selected.
5.) Account Options: Select how often you want your mail to arrive and your notification preference.
6.) Type a name for your account.
I am getting hung up on step #4 (Server Settings). I am 100% certain my domain\username and server address are correct but when I click “Next” to proceed to the next step I get the message "This server requires security features your phone does not support".
For a test, my colleague entered his information on steps 1-4 into my phone and proceeded to step 5 immediately (Account Options). This problem happened to one other individual and he had to purchase a new phone to correct the problem (a Samsung). The problem seems to be around the phone or mail-server but I am out of options. Is there some setting to get it to work?
Another test I performed, I successfully logged onto my friends phone with my account settings and managed to pull up my calendar / email. He was using a Motorolla phone that used Android 2.2 (an older version than I am using).
Other Notes:
A.) I can log into my webmail but this feature does not sync my calendar or give me instant email notifications. My email in Microsoft Outlook is working as well.
B.) My username and password combination is definitely not the problem. I tried typing in a different password and it gives me a different error (username/password entered is incorrect).
C.) I tried using “/” and “\” in the Domain\Username section. I also tried checking and un-checking the SSL options. I tried other servers available on-site (01 and 02 versions).
D.) My work technical support insists there is nothing different about my security settings but unfortunately since it is a personal device they won’t offer any real support. They blame the phone or T-mobile. T-mobile blames the phone or the server. LG blames T-mobile or the server. See my problem?
E.) I had a work phone recently that was taken away due to budget cuts so I know it is possible to get my email / calendar with an i-phone (3GS).
F.) I also tried using “Other” on step #2 and entering the information manually (selecting exchange since it is not a “Pop” server). I still get the same message.
G.) I rebooted the phone and even pulled the battery and restarted.
H.) I can connect to my work wi-fi. I activated the wi-fi and tried to enter in all the server information but it still gave me the same error with wi-fi enabled.
I.) I have setup my home email account but could not do it from the “Other” option in Step #2. (sbcglobal.net and a yahoo mail both required the yahoo app to work). I also got the g-mail account to work through the “g-mail” app.
J.) It is a brand new phone purchased yesterday 12/13/11 (i.e. factory reset seems pointless and not attempted).
Is there some phone setting I am missing? Any help on this matter or another method to sync my calender / work emails to my phone will be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
I don't believe Android currently supports some features of Microsoft Exchange yet because of security permissions. There is an app in the market that bypasses those checks but it's risky, because if your phone ever gets stolen and your work needs to wipe it, they can't and you may get in trouble for breaking policy. For the most part though, they wont know. I'll search for it for you but I don't remember the name.
EDIT: Sorry didn't read all the thread My browser pulled me to the last post of the thread and I thought it was OP haha
Still though, it could just be security restrictions stopping you like I said.

It's weird that you tried CM7 and it didn't work. The stock rom has an older email.apk that is not compatible with the newer versions of Exchange and some security policies but CM7 should not have that problem.
what settings are you using?
I've used both Touchdown and the default Android email client at work without a problem, but your Exchange server must fully support ActiveSync. I would ask your IT support or server admin to help you out.
BTW, while Touchdown may seem pricey, it just works. I use it daily and would recommend it to anyone wanting to connect to Exchange servers. I tried other solutions but always went back to Touchdown. Their support service is top notch.
The only problem I have is that once in a while the email app will delete my account. It only happens to exchange, my pop 3 accounts stay there.
Edit: Of course, as soon as I say this I have a problem connecting I changed my password at work and when I tried to change it on my phone it would not work. I removed the account and added it but still nothing. I wiped the cache and davlik cache and added the account, great success.
My company sent out an email saying phones with root access will no longer be able to use MobileIron or Exchange to get email access on rooted devices. We will have to login using Outlook Web Access (OWA). Since the change and getting kicked off, I have found it very frustrating not getting emails while away from my computer and being out of the loop when I run into someone in the hall who starts up a conversation about the latest announcement that I haven't had a chance to read. Or running into someone, setting up a quick meeting, and then having to recreate the calendar appointment on my computer when I just did it on my phone as well. Or, lastly, creating an appointment on my computer and then later realizing I don't have the details on my phone because they no longer sync. Point is, "do without" is not an option here.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this apart from asking the boss for a company phone and carrying two phones around? Is there a way to make a certain app think I don't have root?
If there's really no way around getting it to just plain work, I'd even be OK if there was some relatively automated way to sync the data (calendar appointments and emails) between my computer and phone once a day on a schedule. Any ideas on solutions here?

Read articles about app called EXPOSED. It has one of its modules that makes a company cannot detect wether you are rooted. You can install EXPOSED and find the module you want to include. For further knowledge about it, search righ here.

I'm new to the S7, though drove a Moto X Pure on Marshmallow for a while and am familiar with my way around settings. I've only had the S7 a couple of days and hadn't gotten any trusted devices to keep it unlocked reliably. I recently had several apps update and then now when I go look, The Smart Lock (Google) Trust agent is 'disabled by administrator' and it is now greyed-out and I can't turn it on. Similarly all my trusted devices are greyed-out.
Any ideas here. The one thing I CAN think of is that I'm using built-in mail to connect to my company's exchange server, so they do have the ability to push admin rules. I had the account connected before I saw this behavior, however I suppose they might push out polices only once every week or so and I just hit the day.
Any other thoughts?

straight thought is wht u said
thr is extra policy for ur device.
remove the exchange server and check wht happen...
if nothing changed go to security setting and clear credentials and remove all admins app
:good:
I would suggest to put your company email in the myknox app. This isolates any compny policies for accessing your device.

+1 for this suggestion. I'm a big fan of My Knox. It sets Samsung apart in this area.

Some third party email apps are capable of applying Exchange policies on the application level instead of device level. Thus leaving the rest of the device under your control. Try an app like Nine which can do just that. The are other apps too but I like this one.
Thanks Everyone. I'll try those. It sounds like myknox might help if this is it. On my Moto X I was using before, I used Touchdown for exchange (cause the ootb mail client sucked) and it similarly kept the admin policies to the app.
hmm, removed the exchange account. now things aren't greyed out anymore. I could go into trust agents and Smart Lock (Google) is enabled. I go into phone administrators and there are two: "Android Device Manager" and Support & Protection". I turned them both off (I don't know how to REMOVE them). Restarted phone. No change in behavior. My screen still locks when, for example, connected to my Gear S2 watch though that's one of the trusted devices for smart lock..
nevermind, it's working. I was just expecting different behavior. I still have to 'swype to unlock' but I'm not hit up for credentials anymore. I was expecting that when I woke the phone it would go to the last screen it was on. I don't know why, my Moto didn't do that. I think it was having the fingerprint sensor now that just messed up my mental processing.
A very simple alternative to the same effect is offered by the Exchained app. No root required.
I found if you go to lock screen (in setting: device) and create and lock screen pattern. Trust agents becomes available (in security settings: advanced), you can then turn it on and smart lock becomes available (in security settings: advanced).
There is a youtube video about it: How To Enable Smart Lock On Any Device
Unrelated to smart lock: As user "Avah" said, I highly recommend Nine email for connecting to your exchange server. It does not force the administration policies on your device (or at least, it may ask you, and you can decline). Better than the built-in clients and way better than the old Touchdown app.
