connexion has a riffbox, this is how the firmware is installed at the factory. he wants this so he can provide a service for us. so the answer is 100% yes. don't speak so fast. Samsung also may have a way to repair bootloaders throught the USB, Adam outlet has been researching ways to do this and might be close.
connexion I'm on my phone so it is tedious to search and provide a link, but there was a untested bootloader dump in lost1's Odin package, the pit doesn't work with that one.
also gtg and other are trying to get Rogers bootloaders but without your service it is getting hard to get a tester, not sure if they got a good dump yet. thank you for your interest. i hope you are successful in finding what You need.

he will fix bootloaders soon, the riffbox means opening up the phone and flashing directly to the board. and that means the ability to test gb bootloader dumps in confidence! hopefully we will have a tested working gb bootloader dump before then but if not connexion will be a good person to be involved.
but i understand that you may have thought he was flashing with Odin. still bootloaders are needed to use the pit file if used with heimdall, little known fact but i didn't think the bootloader request would be weird no matter who it is. i try to assume the poster has the knowledge unless it is otherwise apparent that they don't.
connexion - try to catch up with gtg465x or LinuxBozo on IRC, #infuse4g on freenode. They can hook you up.
BTW, due to troll problems webchat users are currently banned, you need to use a real client.
Thanks guys ill give one of hem a shot. Currently I can do the Captivate, Vibrant, i9000, TAB 7", Nexus S and Epic aand many many more. The Infuse has very similar hardware. If I can map the pinouts I may be able to connect and re-write a Captivate bootloader which COULD allow download mode and allow me to flash the correct ones. If that won't work but I can still connect via JTAG I can still just back up a working Infuse to create my own bootloaders. This is worlds first stuff we are talking about and I'm trying to get you guys in on a solution for a hard brick...

BTW, do you know of anyone who has done work with using OpenOCD and FT2232-based JTAG dongles instead of the RIFF box?
If I can find a candidate "guinea pig" device (even a non-Infuse similar to ours) cheaply enough I may try getting the OpenOCD + FT2232 combo going with a Bus Blaster v2.
Which reminds me - What's the target Vref voltage for Samsung's JTAG port? Bus Blaster v2 can go down to 1.2 volts.
I've never tried using any other JTAG solution. I write to i897 with a JTAG Target Voltage of 2.8V...
Has anyone tested those bootloaders and actually flashed them? They appear to be legit after looking at them with a hex editor. If they are legit then Infuse bootloaders are NOT compatible with i897, T959 or i9000 bootloaders as both sets of those bootloaders for Rogers and ATT hard bricked my test Vibrant. Still does not mean I'm out of options. If I can connect to an Infuse via JTAG, I can write a script and inject my own bootloaders that way most likely.
Here's the real sticking point. We've tried heimdall and odin to flash bootloaders, and they either error out on flash, or just don't take at all. We're guessing there is some sort of signature checking, or the infuse has some other way of flashing bootloaders correctly. No one really has had time to sit down and figure it out completely.

Kies will have to be thru att...chat w/ support. I'm sure a fix is on the way.
You can get more info here:
you won't brick this phone. as for the cappy you can thank Samsung and design gears for that. Samsung put out numerous builds of bootloaders that weren't compatible with each other. some didn't have working 3button combos. design gear figured out that he could flash the secondary bootloaders in an update.zip with bmlwrite to fix 3 buttons and started bakery mg it into roms. also the later captivates were not compatible with the early bootloaders and would brick with the oneclick Odin.
there haven't been too many legitamately hardbricked infuses. maybe some that the owners gave up on but no real hardbricks. out devs leaned the bootloaders lessons before and the infuse has fewer bootloaders and no packages that lack the compatible primary bootloader to the secondary bootloader except uckh1 which is froyo, so never flash from gingerbread to the kh1 build of froyo.
I picked up a WIND Samsung Galaxy S 4G today. I looked in the Android Dev thread here and I don't see anything specifically for this phone.
The model number is T-959W so I don't want to try anything with hacks/roms etc meant for the T-Mobile version.
I'd be happy to supply a dump of my phone for any devs who want to play around and help us here in the great white north!
Thanks
System dump would be nice if you can provide it. I'd advice against installing any mods you found here. Good thing you're cautious
Great, thanks! I have never done a dump before so I'll have to look into how to do it. I will let you know when I do.
I see it has 8 gig internal, we only got 2 there's a tutorial somewhere for system dumps, let me find you the link.

Sure but idk if our devs are gonna build you guys stuff. Also, go to sampro.pl, it is a polish site so use Google chrome to translate it, then create an account for the site, go firmware downloads for your model if you see. If you do, then post a link to the latest version.

I have heard that there may be an update in August. It may be prudent to wait for this update before capturing a ROM image, in case important fixes are made.
I guess a good question would be whether anyone has had any experience flashing T-Mobile SGH-959v ROMs on to this device.
Another avenue could be to ask someone inside Samsung whether they changed much between models.

Absolutely! I'm currently taking a little break (gotta find a job... like two weeks ago.), but when the dust settles, I'll take a little look at the source and see if we can help out.
What you could start with is a diff between the SGH-T959V-TMB_GB_Opensource.zip and the SGH-T959W_NA_GB_Opensource.zip drops.
I'd be willing to look into giving you guys something fun to work with.
I'll do a series of diffs tonight on the T959W stock kernel source and the T959V sources (stock and our CM kernel).

You really shouldn't flash roms not made for your phone. If they contain bootloaders, you could brick your phone.
Hey T959W people. Looked at the source and things are looking pretty close. I'm not saying to run off and flash our stuff, but I need some info and someone with the big kahunas to try flashing some stuff.
Please be running linux. I can't help you with windows problems.
It would also be helpful if you have a usb download mode jig.
You can get one here:
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-download-mode-jig/
Ok Canadians! I've verified that the SGH-T959W should be exactly the same as the SGH-T959V.
There were some interesting differences between our T959V and T959W that may fix some bugs for us on T959V.
With that said, please... please... please, read all of the instructions for flashing ROMs and Kernels very carefully!
If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences.
Like I said before, it is very common to soft brick your device. It is not the end, and do not worry if you do this. Make sure you get yourself a usb download mode jig here:

This will help you use heimdall or odin to flash stuff to your phone to make everything happy again.
You will only hard brick this device by writing the wrong bootloaders to the phone, which is why I am warning you to not flash bootloaders, for now!
With that, enjoy cm7, cm9, aokp, et alii!
I will also announce this in the android general forum!

I managed to get my Wind SGH-T959W rooted and up and running with a unofficial CM9 build, but it took a bit of work.
Firstly, I tried just about every one-click solution out there, to no avail. It's possible SOC 1.7 with rattlethecage works, but I didn't have the patience to find out whether I simply had to wait a bit longer.
I followed this guide(whilst clenching every clenchable muscle I could consciously control):
http://www.galaxyforums.net/forum/o...mission-t-mobile-galaxy-s-4g-gingerbread.html
The gist is, Odin 1.7, stock+voodoo for T959V, plus some update that I'm not qualified to describe. That should get you rooted and if that's all you're looking for, you'll have to suffer through a little T-Mobile branding on startup.
Once you got it all rooted, you'd think it'd be a good idea to toss sgs-ics on there, right? Well, no. After installing the 4G variant, it promptly set off into a boot loop which I'm again, unqualified to diagnose. The obvious solution was to try another team's version of ICS, which I indeed found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
Barring some missing features, it sounds like a good alternative to sgs-ics. Though I had to go through one additional step, which I really, honestly assure you I was under-qualified to execute. When I tried to load Team Acid's CM9 r3 it gave me an assert on the updater-script, since the hardware didn't match up. Easy. Unzip the package, open up META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script, remove the first check. You know it's the same hardware, you don't need some stinkin' script to tell you it won't work.
So all said and done, I now have a Wind Mobile SGH-T959W running ICS 4.0.4 courtesy of bhundven, the Odin folks, Team Acid, and likely a slew of other contributors.
Thanks folks, and enjoy!
PS, if you want that tarball bhundven, send me a PM with some brief instructions, and hopefully you can help my fellow Winders.

All I wanted to do was flash a custom rom on my Rogers I727R so I could get on my laptops adhoc network.
FoxHound_Otacon_V1_LP4_ICS_GSII_By_SnakeS.zip Seemed to be the right choice.
Rooted phone fine, but couldn't seem to get into cwg with the button combonation.
Heard of Rom Manager so ran that, it began flashing the new rom...
The linux text was in italian for some reason, and then I read errors regarding permissions?
Rebooted phone. MF Bricked.
Bought a usb jig, took about two weeks to arrive, followed the jig instructions, still cant get the phone to turn on.
Used a multimeter to check battery voltage, it's reading 3.665v, should be enough?
Any ideas? Besides having Rogers send it back to Samsung and wait 3 weeks, do I have any other options? Cheers.... ...

Sgs2 skyrocket very different then sgs2
rogers dont send your phone to samsung and make you wait 3 weeks, they send you a refurbished GS2 and a return box to put your broken phone and return it back to them. I've do this many times over the past 5 years ive been with them and they never made me wait for any repair
Man, I feel sorry for you. . However, it is not like it is "fried" or anything. A "repair" service is needed to reload the firmware etc.
EDIT: Yeah, try what polish_pat says. TELL THEM YOU TRIED AN OTA SOFTWARE UPDATE, and then the phone just died.
BUT, where the heck did you get the ROM from. Seriously, how could you even THINK of flashing something you had no clue about.
With all respect man, this is a thread all newbies should read. Even when I myself flash ANYTHING I am so tense, even after reading till I get a headache.
Contact adam outler on the forums here. Search for user "Adam Outler". PM him. He will ask you t mail your phone. He is a king in repairs. He has all kinds of hardware tools, and he won't gyp you with exorbitant prices.
Good luck !!
I thought I727r and I9100 were the same thing...argh..
I'll try rogers then on Tuesday and update.
If someone can someone point me to a good rom for I727r so I can get adhoc going when I get my phone back I'd really appreciate it, I really need wifi and adhoc is my only option where I'm located.

Umm I don't know what carrier your with or if you are still in your warranty time frame or have mobile phone insurance? But when I first started flashing phones I bricked a captivate after having it for only a couple of months so I called att and told them I was updating the phone using kies mini as directed and the power blinked and screwed the phone up. So they never questioned me they just sent me a new captivate.. I was lucky cause that was about the time the froyo update came out so they never questioned me just said that's happened to a lot of people. So with gingerbread updates rolling out tell them you were updating and the phone cut off and won't come back on. Its worth a try. I know a lot on here that has done it...

I've read every thread on XDA about the Infuse. I was able to successfully update from 2.3.6 to cm9. Then of course I got greedy and went to cm10. While in CM10 the android keyboard kept FC'n. I went back into CWM and Factory reset, cache, data, dalvik and so on. Then I tried to perform a restore from a previous cm9 install. I got an error saying the system was unable to mount my system and something about not being able to mount recovery something or another.
I know normally I could just ODIN back to EP4 and work my way back up. Unfortunately my USB port was broken somehow by my teenage son when he was using the device. Because I'm a sucker and gave my daughter my SGH_i957 so this is the only device I have. Is there anyway I can fix this through CWM? Or is this phone a brick and I am without luck?

FWIW, sadly, I recently asked an independent repair shop about fixing the micro USB port on a smart phone, as I figure they must wear out fairly frequently due to all the plugging and unplugging for charging. They said that except for in the cases of about 3 to 5 models of phones, it is nearly impossible to fix the micro USB port on a phone because it is micro-soldered to the board. However, this may just be due to the fact that the repair shop doesn't have some of the more sophisticated equipment that a bigger repair shop would have. YMMV.
Thank You
