OEM Desktop Dock - Samsung Infuse 4G

Will an Infuse with a (Bodyglove) case work in the OEM desktop dock? I've tried the Seidio dock on another phone (Evo 4G) and while it did work with a case it is a total piece of k-rap.

No it will not.

Thanks ...... figured that. Picked one up today anyway. I figured for $20 (after my FAN discount) I couldn't go too wrong.
Only problem I have now is that the the Samsung Software for it is not in the Market. It is in the online market but when I download it it never gets to my phone. No idea why. Hmmm, maybe it's because I'm running the GB ROM.

Don't bother with the Samsung software anyway - it has limitations, from what I've heard.
I use a generic Driving Mode software (Car Widget) that allowed me to set up a Widget with 6 Zoomed App Icons on one of my home screens.

I got the same dock, and the speaker line out plug in the back won't play music, it still comes out of the speaker on the phone... Is that because of the Desk Home app not being installed? When the phone goes to sleep while plugged in, or wakes up, I can hear the speakers react, so the connection is working, it just won't play music.

Car dock audio problem with Froyo 2.2

I just recently popped my phone's cherry and unlocked the bootloader so that I could get Froyo on my AT&T Nexus One. Before the update I had setup my phone to plug into a car dock with a headphone out to auxiliary jack to my car speakers.
The volume was consistently good to my car stereo when unplugged from the dock and when plugged in before the update. Now, immediately after I plug in my phone to the dock with the headphone jack pushing media audio my volume is reduced by 10-20%. I have disabled the dock managing my media audio, put everything to max volume on phone, and it still reduces the audio as soon as I plug it into the dock.
Does anyone else have a similar setup? I realize mine may be unique and I'm on my own. Are there any deeper phone settings to check beyond the standard volume controls?
Yeah I have the same problem. And my phone doesn't pick up my voice with voice commands and auto brightness doesn't work with the phone in the dock. Makes me wanna go back to Eclair...
Still have not resolved this by any means available. Maybe the official ROM will fix this issue. Also my paid apps still have not shown up and I am noticing that when I pick up inbound calls people cannot hear me for a few seconds.
I was hoping by this point in June that the official Froyo for N1 would have been released and there would be a ROM floating around but no such luck!
I've had a similar problem when my phone is docked with the car dock. In-call volume is extremely low, but other types of media are fine (i.e. music, navi, etc). My volume settings are maxed out too. I hope the official Froyo release fixes this problem. I use my car dock on a daily basis.
Looks like frf83 did not fix it. Car dock is useless for me. Seeing comments frome google that indicate they optimized for the cheesy built in speakers and hosed using the headphone jack while docked.
Pandora during the commute keeps me sane, and this ruins it. No froyo for me until this is fixed.
What I've discovered is when I car dock the phone media volume gets set to 12 out of 15 on the headphone jack. The volume setting GUI doesn't show that the volume has changed. Changing the media volume in settings doesn't affect the volume until I undock the phone.
Unfortunately for me that's too much output for my car stereo and music gets pretty distorted.
I downgraded to OTA ERD79 and the volume would remain the same when docked. I upgraded to the latest OTA and the max volume setting returned.
Having the same problem. At least I found this problem is due to Froyo, not my car dock.
Still, wished the USB port is still open while docked so I can bypass the Car Dock's circuits and just use it as a holder only.
Haven't rooted my phone yet, but if the devs can fix the issue on a custom ROM, I will root.
i used to have this set up where my phone was hardwired to the radio and after froyo i have noticed this problem too. I have now gone back to using a bluetooth connection (kensington liquidaux) and it seems to not have the problem.
for those following the other thread regarding the degradation of quality not just the low volume (double sucky). the bluetooth connection seems to not suffer the same fate.

You're referring using Bluetooth vs AUX for the dock and car to communicate? I'm guessing most of us don't have that option on our cars.
Check out the Kensington Liquidaux. It is an aftermarket Bluetooth solution that lets you use any AUX connection.

Seems like an overkill for $80, especially when I don't need any part of the mount.

The one I got was $29. (Edit: I looked all over and can't find it at this price anymore...shoulda bought two!) It just included the cigarette lighter part and a steering wheel remote.

I have been waiting for a solution and still have not found one. I installed the latest Cynogen V6.0.0-RC1 and when reconfiguring for my dock I got full sound! I was greatly excited! Then... it dropped back down to its normal volume.
I need to figure out a way to disable the phone recognizing the dock entirely since I only use the dock for keeping it stable on my windshield and charging. Anyone have ideas?

I don't think the dots would pass through the charge if the phone completely stops recognizing the dock. This problem didn't start until Froyo, I'm pretty sure there'll be a fix for it.
I have the same problem. So much time has gone by since they released the car dock, first it was fine but after froyo the audio settings could not be saves anymore and the volume got much quieter.
No word from Google... nothing, no answer, no patch.
I'm really pissed, the car dock is almost unusable, except you go to audio settings every time you dock the phone and recheck the settings... :-(
there are already some people who reported the problem on the issue tracker. If you have the same problem please star the issue, but avoid giving "me too" comments... as everyone in the thread gets an email for your +1 comment.

Hi guys,
There's so many add-in tools out in the market that can easily solve those volume level issue. (e.g. "Dock Volume", "Car Dock v2", and many "Locale" or "Tasker" apps) So in my personal option, this is not an issue at all.

You're completely clueless to the issue at hand, please stay away from this thread. Most of those apps have been around before Froyo was even released.

[Q] Brodit Car Kit

I am looking at buying a Brodit Car Kit for my desire. Can anyone give any pros and cons who have actually used one.
I understand I may need a Proclip to suit, and does anyone know the level of charge that the thing delivers. Thanks.
I have an active Brodit Cradle. Not sure what level of charge it provides but its a well made product that was easy to install and with car home, google navigation and winamp running I lost no charge on my journey.
Thanks for that.

Just ordered one now with the appropriate Proclip for my car. Cost £51 inc postage from dsldevelopments. They had both items in stock whereas mobilefun are awaiting stock on the Proclip. Have spent the last 45 mins reading up on this v's the official htc car kit and this wins for me in that it's v highly regarded generally for a variety of phones in terms of it's build, fit and reliability and has a loyal user base unlike cheap alternatives. The official HTC kit has mixed reviews, mainly positive though but it's the sucker design that put me off... where I'm from, if you can clearly see something stuck on top of the dashboard or windscreen...it's a goner! The clip fits on the central console and is much more likely to be missed or seen as as something difficult to remove so more chance of being left alone.
Hopefully my experience will be as good as other users. Just hope it's delivered quick as both items are in stock.
I have been in touch with dsl myself and was going to use them. I may wait to see your findings.

I used dsl they were very good the only thing I can't get the brodit to do is to auto launch Car home when connected. Instead I use a locale work around.

I use Leedroid 2.4.1
The Locale settings I use are when Headphones are connected and Power source (ac/dock/car charger) is connected. (I do this as I always connect my phone to teh brodit and a line in for use with the aux in on my car)
Then the following settings are used
Brightness 100%
Car Dock Mode is Enabled and launched
Media Volume 100%
Screen Timeout Never
Volume 100%
Kit arrived on Friday morning so very quick, using standard delivery.
As for the fitting, the proclip takes seconds. The actual mount is a little fiddly to screw in, I lost one screw so had to buy more doh! Otherwise also easy fit.
It's very sturdy, the phone fits in very well, without any case of course, the swivel is very good and not loose. Fired up maps and navigation, was easy to use and just the right location for me (fitted to central console) Haven't used it for a journey yet, will see when going to work tomorrow but impressed so far.
Note : I'm running CM7 and the car home didn't launch automatically.
How do you set locales?

Locale is an app from the marketplace which enables you to add certain criteria to auto lunch different apps settings etc.

Oh I see...it's £6+, I'll leave it for now, will see if there is a solution as to why Car Home doesn't launch in CM7
As for the charging, yesterday had navigation running for 50mins approx and the battery which was at 31 went up to 49. However, this morning, didn't have the phone running anything just plugged in to charge at 21, after 70 mins it was at 81 So it's a v good charger.
Usage wise, the phone for navigation was in landscape mode, swivelled very solidly and was easy to use and read.
Only thing to note was because of the position I have it installed in, it obscures view of my rear window heater button but it can still be pressed and slightly obscures the radio display.
I've been using a proclip for almost a year and love it. It was the first accessory I bought (had one previously for my Diamond).
I use it only for keeping my Desire charged as I have Car Home set to auto-launch on bluetooth connect with my car. I'm currently running LeeDrOi 2.4.1 with no problems.

Well it's been a week and can only echo my previous comments that the Brodit kit + proclip are well worth a purchase. Very solid, sturdy and useable. I have RAC Traffic running most of the time which unfortunately doesn't work in landscape mode (will be sending comments!) and also use navigation in landscape mode, the swivel functon is not loose at all and the best part of the whole kit is that the charging is the same as charging on mains, if you were in the car 2 hrs approx. the phone would be fully charged. V pleased with that.
Hope my comments\experience have helped.
I can only concur with all the comments made. This is a sturdy piece of kit that does a great job.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I have the Brodit, with the cigarette lighter plug (there is also a direct connected version). Charge is around 400 m.a. so not bad! Reason to have the cigarette version is that my phone changes more often than my car - created an extra cigarette lighter connector hidden in the console (Citroen C5)
I've got the direct connect version, which is great as well.
It charges the phone at over an amp.
Although a bit tricky to connect the cables, totally worth it

Infuse Desktop Dock Not Triggering Desk Home

Just got the official Samsung desktop dock from someone off eBay. When I dock my Infuse, it charges just fine (albeit in the slower USB charging mode) -- however, it doesn't register as being "docked" by Desk Home. I even tried to set a Tasker profile to open Desk Home when connected to the dock. No luck.
Any suggestions?
I also have the Car Dock, and that works just fine.
EDIT: I'm running CatyRom 2.0; with latest Entropy Daily Driver kernel.
I also have this multimedia dock. Have had no problems with it. I have to manually open the dock program it wont do it for me. Make sure its always plugged in. sometimes mines acts weird when it isnt plugged in on the cord that came with it. Like I cant use my phone cord to power it, it wont work even though it fits

Does the audio line out work for you?
Found an app called "Dock Simulator" in the market. When I tell it to simulate a home dock, the Samsung Desk Home app opens automatically. I wonder if it can somehow enable the liner out jack for me.
Flashed ZEUS Build 3. Desk dock is working now.
So, potential issue with CatyRom 2.0 or Entropy Daily Driver. Or, I may have just had a bad flash.
I found this dock to be a little to "snug" fitting. I almost have to force it in and out of the dock, and in doing so, I fear I may destroy the micro USB port. I had the same problem, but realized that I did not push it in all the way.
Totally agree about the dock being a bit too snug. When I dock the phone, I do so with the phone tilted just slightly forward, and then push it back into the dock once connected.
The dock is definitely too snug in the way it fits. Putting it in is easier than getting it out you just have to line it up like a puzzle and slide it in slowly. To take it off you have to kind of tilt to top toward you and then out. Ya it probably moves the micro USB around but for how rarely I use it I guess its ok.
audio over USB is broken on entropy dd and hellraiser. use infusion or a stock kernel.
not sure about dock mode.

I'm in the same boat - the dock worked for me under zeus, but not under infused and now not under vagabond. I'm currently searching for something more concrete hoping to avoid going back to zeus.

It's due to Entropy daily driver. Try flashing to the stock kernel.
Makes sense - would Infusion Core A2 also be possible? I'm asking because that's what Zeus uses and I'd like to be able to keep root.

Just Bought Tab 2 7.0 - A Few Questions...

Hey... so I bought the SGT2 7, the garnet red, 8gb version, JB 4.1.1, and have a couple questions.
1 - The speaker placement is different than most pics I've seen, and even in a different place than the case that came with it! In most of the pics the speaker is on the front of the tab, at the top of portrait mode next to the camera. On my tab the speakers are on the edge, at the bottom in portrait mode and there's 2 of them at each corner. Also the display model at Costco had the speakers on the bottom edge but they boxes showed it on the top front. What's up with that? Did they change the position of it? Is bottom edge the newer version? Do you think it's better on bottom edge or top front?
2 - The main reason I bought it is to use in my car to replace my car stereo/nav unit. I have a 64gb card in my phone that has a lot of music on it. I would like to be able to control that music using my Tab and stream the music from my Tab to the car via BT. Is that possible to control the music that's on my phone and have it output via the Tab? I'm having issues streaming audio using BT from my phone to car, haven't figured out the issue yet so I'm hoping it will work with the Tab, otherwise I'll use the aux cable. I do want the music output to be from the Tab so the phone can stay in my purse unless I need it on the charger.
If it makes any difference I will have the Tab tethered to my phone, rooted HTC Rezound, so that I can use it for internet radio, navi, etc....
Also, heard about TabletTalk. Found DeskSMS. Any rival apps? Suggestions?
3. I saw an older post that said IR wasn't working on custom ROMs, is it working now? That's the other reason I justified buying this, it is supposed to be my univseral remote for all my audio/video equipment at home, working pretty well except it seems the only "other devices" are Apple TV and Roku. Would like to use it for Xbox too since I use that for streaming from pc atm. Is there a better app?
Not planning on rooting the Tab until I'm sure it's going to suit my needs. Costco gives me 90 days to play with it and decide if I want to keep it, so that's nice.
Thanks for any help.

To send send/receive SMS from tablets, laptops and desktops you could take a look at PopMyPhone. It uses email to bridge between the phone and any email capable device so there are no additional apps required on the tablet. Search the Play store for PopMyPhone

Yeah, I had it the first time I plugged it in then it disappeared. Then I kept unplugging and plugging back in then switched ends of the cable around and still nothing ever again. Came inside and tried my earbuds and had no issues at all.
The main reason I bought it is to use for my car. Ugh. It doesn't make any sense. I can see there may be reasons why bluetooth streaming might be an issue with my phone since it's rooted and running a global leak, but even that works with the cable no problem.

[Q] Charging & NFC Sounds

Hello,
I have looked around but can't find an answer to a little setting I'm looking for.
Is there a way to enable a sound when I plug in to charge (or place on wireless charger)? I'd like to know that I have put my phone in the right spot on the charger. Edit: Found an app for this. Seems to work fine, but it's not native.
Also, I have a case that has a flip that goes around the back. I have my mastercard in the wallet part of the case, but when it's near the back of the phone, the phone makes the NFC noise. I tried disabling android beam but it still makes the noise as it is reading the card. Is there a way to turn off this sound without disabling NFC?
I apologise if I didn't look hard enough for the answers! I tried, I swear!
Thanks

They switch the screen on for a quick second too
