Some folks seem interested in how much progress is being made on a CM7 port for the Infuse, so here's a bit more information for everyone. I have included instructions on how to build your own version, but you will want to pay attention to the following list of what works and what doesn't.
Currently working:
Full EXT4 implementation using BML/STL not MTD. This means you can flash other ROMs without having to "unbrick". NOTE: This will be changing soon. We will switch to the standard way that CM7 on Samsung phones works, which is using MTD. This is so we can merge this into the SGS team and begin building nightlies.
CWM flashing (no rainbows in CWM)
GPS
Wifi
Accelerometer/Proximity and other sensors
Phone
SMS messaging
Camera, FFC, and flash
Haptic feedback and vibration
NO Rainbows using Froyo bootloaders.
Brightness control, including auto-brightness.
Wifi tethering
Hardware accelerated video playback and recording
Fixed issue with 4G speeds. Solved with some apns-conf.xml tweaks.
Incoming call ringtones.
Advanced camera settings, including face detection SEE:http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,7267
working backup/restore from CWM
OC/UV kernel with Interactive and Smartass governors and other tweaks.
USB storage fixed, including USB debug notification and USB tethering support (Thanks go to gtg465x)
Voodoo Sound now fixed after call. (thanks go to ajerman)
Bluetooth now back to semi-working state without breaking GPS. Will pair, A2DP audio skips, no sound/mic on phone calls via headsets.
NEW Fixed smartass governor so it scales properly, and has proper export defined in the kernel scheduler.
Currently broken:
Switching 2G/3G causes Phone app to force close. (May be fixed by http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,8259)
HDMI out (perhaps will never work until ATT GB dump)
Removed:
BLN (causing way too many instability and random reboot issues)
I have pretty much done this as a one man band, with some assistance from the GalaxyS guys, in particular codeworkx, Unhelpful and Kaik541.
Want to help out? DONATE. This allows me to take the GF out to dinner so she isn't as pissy when I'm working on this stuff. ;-)
If you'd like to build your own copy, follow this guide:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Compile_CyanogenMod_(Linux)
Pay attention, because this matters.
In the "Install the Repository" section, use this line to download the repo script:
Code:
curl https://raw.github.com/TeamRefuse/android/gingerbread/repo > ~/bin/repo
In the "Install the Repository" section, use this line for the repo init:
Code:
repo init -u git://github.com/TeamRefuse/android.git -b gingerbread
Skip the "Copy proprietary files" section. All proprietary files you need are included.
In the "Configure Build & Compile" step, replace "galaxysmtd" with "infuse4g"
When you are done building, you should have your very own version of CM7 with all the bugs that I mention above.
Still have issues? Completely new to linux and the like? Check out this guide courtesy of Skwerl23
Flashing from RED CWM
When flashing from RED CWM, there are a few extra steps needed to get this working:
Flash CM7 zip
Reboot. You will get stuck at Samsung screen. This is normal.
Pull battery, and reboot into recovery (Hold: VOL+ VOL- Power)
You should now be in ORANGE CWM.
Go to "mounts and storage"
select format /system
Reflash CM7 zip (NOTE: don't forget gapps as well)
Reboot into CM7 goodness
2011-09-29
Fixed up smartass governor so it actually works instead of falling back to interactive, and scales properly.
2011-09-26
2G/3G toggle should be fixed by upstream change: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,8259
Reverted to Rogers RIL/agpsd which should fix GPS breakage
2011-09-22
Moved to using github for repo (can get repo script here: https://raw.github.com/TeamRefuse/android/gingerbread/repo)
Updated libraries to UCKI3 versions
Updated tcp buffer sizes to match UCKI3

I'm really excited to see this. I was worried when I upgraded from my captivate that there would be a stagnant dev community for the infuse, but stuff like this makes me happy to have made the upgrade. Keep up the great work!

What can I say... LinuxBozo, you da man! If there's anything I can try to help with, let me know. I'll do what little I can... When it's stable though, expect me to OC it...
Can't wait to have cm7 on the infuse. Thanks linux!

Looks like great work.
Wondering if we have anyone in CM with an infuse? any hopes of an official CM for us atm?
very cool. what are the chances of working mirrored mhl output? also what are the chances of 1080p movies playing natively through the mhl adapter and not being upscaled.
i beleive there should always be aosp work but if it doesn't offer all the key features ill flash the factory firmware.
No requests from me, just appreciation... Thanks dude
message from Sams inFuse... GINGERBREAD *****ES!!!!
Yeah good job man. I know there'll be hurdles to jump in the process but hoping you (and others) can get them figured out.
My girl just bought this phone and I am looking into getting one bc I am sick of waiting on the galaxy s2. This thread makes me very hopeful that this phone will get the love of some good devs. If it got some solid aosp love I would buy one immediately, I love my inspire but the screen on the infuse is just amazing.

Don't think he forgot anything since it's not ready yet.
Yes, it's not ready, and honestly, it's not for use as a daily driver at this point. I would rather not release until I feel that everyone could run this and have most of the functionality that they are accustomed to having. This is more a place holder, and to keep everyone informed of how development is going with the original post. For instance, I have now fixed haptic and vibration as shown in post #1.

360 Productions intro
-Thanks goes to ayoteddy & Whoever helped for Deodexing, Rooting & bringing us This CWM Base. ayoteddy deserves credit for the grunt work on this one. I'll leave in his updater-Script so he is credited every time it is flashed. All I've done is make the stock KJ2 Rom faster on RFS. Havent had a lot of time lately, and waiting on Tory (my Right hand man) to receive his SK4G. 360 Productions revolves around a group of Team Members who have specific jobs depending on what they are strong in, kernel guy, graphic guy, apk guy, but mostly everything is done by Myself, Tory Heal and jrongi1 there are other members that have "just want to help jobs, like watching the forums, keeping me updated on all my threads. I have 3 kids, go to School and 6-7 roms for various devices. (8 when I release this one. Time is a big factor for me right now Im just not home enough. So releases will be when I can get to it, so no ETA's. I was to the point where I was spending more time with Android than my family. Android is now 3rd on my list of priority's. If it no longer feels like a hobby and more like a job it's time to slow it down.

Work around for proper signal bars.
EpicRIL extends SamsungRIL and just transforms some incoming data fro\m the modem so AOSP signal strength can portray it correctly. See commit by Uberpinguin here

Things I have noticed in nightly 6-24 vs beta 4....

So... Are these builds continuously building on the official release - fixing or adding to that build? I ask because the official release is working so good but these builds might make it even better!
TIA,

As devs add code to git hub it is automatically built into the nightly by a build server with no interaction from the devs. We as users of the nightlys help make it better by reporting bugs as they happen. Bugs will happen as the code added is often untested because it is so new. If you don't want any new bugs, use CM7 stable.

And, we get a 9.0 RC on 2012-06-26 09:14:27! Very nice.
And another one four hours later!!
This rom is Cm9 Aokp based with some enhancements. I have added a few programs and some tweaks. I get incredible battery life and great performance. Any problems would be the same as Aokp Milestone 6. Everything that I have tested has worked great. I have been using this for about 4 days now. Each day after about 16 hours I still have better than 50 percent battery left. Of course depending on use this could vary.
Here is the extra that I have included.
-Apex Launcher
-HD Wallpapers
-Rom Toolbox Lite
-V6 Supercharger Services.jar file is included but you need to run the script goto this link to run

The new kernel installs TWRP over clockwork mod. Here is a link to reinstall Clockwork mod. With inject TWRp off flash this and reboot.

Just a quick question. Can you use any modem with this?
The reason I ask is bc the fc09 modem performs very poorly and causes my battery to die way before the day is over. There was talk of a magical end all modem in another thread, however the name of it is escaping me currently. I believe it was from the nexus or something.

The nexus modems will not work with this rom... you will need an epic modem... if fc09 doesn't perform well try ec05 or even fc19....
Mirror
And here is a great resource for Google Applications.

I have had better luck running ei22 . Every phone seems to have one or another that works better.

Are you in any locations with no signal for any extended period of time. That will cause your phone to work double time to get signal. If you are switch to airplane mode while you have no signal you can save your battery. Also if you have leave your wi-fi radio toggle on all day.

Hey I am glad to hear that you like it. The real work goes to Aokp and Marcusant for the efforts. I just put it all together.
I can add apps to a ROM zip too.

This will probably come off as a me being a **** or unappreciative. Lol
There isn't anything really unique to distinguish this ROM from the source. It's just AOKP with a few apps, wallpapers and the services.jar file for V6 (which is in the OP for AOKP).
Most ROM derivatives vary by tweaks, theme, partition map type, file system type, included apps and kernel. This really seems like someone's modded AOKP zip to save time.

+1. And who deleted my similar (negative) comment? I posted it before the thread was closed and now it's not there. If anyone including the OP author don't wanna hear negative comments from me just hand me a GSM GNex. Then I'll be happy with whatever you do with E4G.

Problem? I reopened the thread and cleaned it for a fresh start.
FYI negative comments are non-constructive. You want to help and be part of this community then post something to help the OP...constructive critism. Negative comments come off as you have a sense of entitlement around here, which a lot of your posts do.

I'm just a user here and I take no credit for this kernel. This kernel was made by Ezekeel and is posted in his thread on RootzWiki. However I thought it would be a good idea to link it here for those who didn't know about it, If this is not allowed, please delete this thread.

The latest innovation in human-smartphone interaction. Our scientist have shown in extensive tests that humans operating our kernel on their devices experience 67% more joy in life while simultaneously the likelihood of being maimed or killed by falling space debris is significantly reduced. Also preliminary human trials indicate that it might offer some protection against lethal dosages of gamma radiation and blows to the head with a rod-like object.
Features:
Based on stock Android kernel Jelly Bean 4.1.1 JRO03C
SLQB memory allocator
JRCU
FSync Control version 1
CIFS
NFS client
NTFS read/write support
Cleaned out all unnecessary kernel features and drivers
Various other tweaks

Not yet but it should be updated soon
Flashed this on my N7 its running smooth. This by far is my favorite overall kernel you won't get nightlies with glados but its so stable you don't need them. I think this is the downfall of a lot of other kernels there flakey in the sense that one release is awesome and the next could mess your phone up.
Glados Control app has been updated to work with the Nexus 7

Be careful as it states on his ezekeel`s rootzwiki thread that his kernel does not support CM
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I'm currently running it on Android Me which is based on CM10 however make sure to make a backup just in case.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I have been running this over the weekend and today, and I can say that it works well with AOKP nightly from 29 Aug
Performance is good, the battery-performance ratio is optimal for me as I don't need performance
It has the stock clock speed and is not as feature rich as Faux's or Morfic's, but I like the kernel how it is, and I am sure it will improve as this is an early version
I recommend trying it, its good on battery and I have not experienced any lag, unlike I experienced with some other kernels
Love it, just thought I'd voice my opinion because I don't have a rootz account

He doesn't like (and probably rightfully so) that the CM team took a few open source kernel tweaks and modified them so that they weren't triggered in the same manner while not giving credit to the original kernel developers. It was something along those lines; my details may be off a bit.
Meaning color cpu/ffs/fsync/whatever implementation methods may have changed and the Rom Control panel will not be able to tweak them on Glados.
It should boot and work just fine; so long as you're aware that any kernel tweaks that CM10 has in it's settings menu may not work.

Flashed okay. App doesn't have many options at the moment and doesn't support voltage control?
Hopefully can get the same results that others have posted!
So far it doesn't but keep in mind the kernel is still a RC so it will get the rest of the features along the way.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Seems to be pretty smooth, but frankly, ALL of the kernels seem smooth, lol. I never notice the little things others talk about. I can really only tell the difference on benchmarks.
(I never notice a lot of things...for example, I have never had wifi issues on android device, and as a family we have five devices. And I have owned at least one hard drive since 1988--10 MB MFM baby! --and have never, ever, had one crash. Must be the clean living.)
I'm using it with paranoid android 1.92 and so far it's amazing. Thanks to the OP for bringing this to my attention
Can I tweek this using system tuner pro? I know that there is a companion app for this kernel but just want to ask anyway as I have the pro version or system tuner.
Thanks

Thanks

The app doesn't have that feature yet for the Nexus 7 try using another app like System Tuner
