you know we have a whole forum for questions like this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=836
but back on topic
official 2.3.3 is nowhere near custom roms when it comes to performance. i suggest you flash miks 6.5.6 (good performance) and dont flash 18.1 (huge battery drain).
miks 6.5.6 comes with v18 which afaik allows overclocking

hi,
phone details are
LG P920, Android 2.3.5
baseband L6260_MODEM_Sic_01.1042.00,
Kernel 2.6.35.7, build GRJ90,
SOFTWARE VERSION LGP920-V20c-APR-25-2012
I have tried rooting thru superoneclick 2.3.3 and tried Megatron_Root_Dan_Rosenberg
with superoneclick, stops at step#7 and with megatron, get the message ädb"is not a valid command.
can someone please help me with a step by step guide for rooting the v20c as i have tried umpteen times with the above rooting tools but failed miserably.
I am more of a noob than a seasoned campaigner, please be patient.

Megatron Root
Hi,
Megatron root definitely works.
It took me many goes before it actually worked...It kept saying something about files being "corrupt" (it was a while back so cannot remember exact details).
The phone would reboot a few times, and end up being the same and unrooted.
What worked for me was i did a factory reset, and then ran Megatron root again. It may have had something to do with the number of apps i had on the phone. It then finally worked.
Hope that helps.
Hi Paki0402 and vicdo1000
Successfully rooted, I had to rely heavily on google translate for the german lingo
thanks again.
can you also help me with the best way to install a custom rom for V20C? which rom will be the best in terms of eye candy, fastest, smoothest ( may not be all in one rom)
help greatly appreciated !!! ppl like you make us noobs feel protected !

This is a bit late, but adb is android debugging bridge, and is required to transfer files to root locations without su privilages. Adb is part of the android sdk and in the package of platform tools. To use adb you have to install it and configure it, look on youtube, then from command prompt you can us it.

Hi Schubeir,
CM7 is always a winner in terms of a good stable ROM, but you will lose the goodies that make our phone unique (3D as well as HDMI). Very fast and smooth, and because the ROM includes Theme Chooser, there's a huge selection of themes to choose from that will change your entire Android interface.
I'm currently using Promethius v1.3. Fantastic ROM...fast/smooth and keeps most of the stock LG apps. Feels like stock software, only much much faster and everything works! however, this version i dont think will work with your current baseband. you wont get and service if you flashed it.
Ultimately, there are many good ROMs to find in the Development section, so just have fun trying them out. whats good for me might not be good for you.
by the way, do you have ghost calls on V20C?
Hi,
Did not wait long enough on V20C to know if there were ghost call issues!! the UI was behaving like stop n go n stop n go, lagging every now n then, hence wanted to root and change over to custom rom.
I need to have the 3D and HDMI, purchased this model only for this. I am at present using the DNA_GB 3.3.3 based on the new V21E rom. when i flashed the ThiaiZ O3D V2.7.1 GB.------ NO NETWORK!!!!!
Was it due to the 21D baseband in the ROM? do I then need to flash the 21e Baseband?
which do i flash first, the base band or the ROM?
Cant believe I am trying all this at the young age of 52!!!
Thanks lots for all your help.

OK Schubeir,
I had the exact same problem so no problems. Yes the baseband is what is causing the lack of network.
I know there is any easier way to flash baseband, but i found it quite easy flashing my phone back to a stock v21e kdz, and then flashing a custom ROM built using the v21e as a base. The reason for this is V21E is proven not to have ghost calls, so thats the biggest benefit. it also has much better battery life. And finally, you can flash Promethius which has all the stock goodies (3D, HDMI).
Follow this link and go to point 3 - LG Flash tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870
you must follow it step by step word for word or it wont work. Of course you will need to download the V21E kdz file...jut do a search and you should find it.
After flashing back to stock V21E, root again with Megatron, then flash ROM as you normally would. then flash GAPPS (google Apps) right away also.
Bit long winded, but its a one of and its well worth it getting your phone setup right. With Promethius, the phone runs awesome!
Cheers

Hello, which is best to use on this phone, the Stock FW or custom Rom(in that case which one)?
What is the difference between the Stock V10a and V10C?
What is the difference between the custom V10C and V10E?
Can the LG P350 Me still be updated OTA - I ask because I have tried and it just keep trying the server and nothing happens.
If you root and install stock firmware, can you then still use Google Play?
If you root and install custom rom, can you then still use Google Play?
Can I overclock the phone's CPU without updating the firmware or installing custom Rom, but only root it and install some kind of app?
Hope an expert can answer this
With kind regards

For me a custom ROM is way better than stock.
No differences bro. They depend upon countries( v10c,a,e) and also, to install ICS/jb ROMs you will need a v20 baseband or a baseband fix
OTA depends upon the ROM you choose.
In both cases you will and can use Google play.
Yes you can over clock using app such as SetCPU. However it is a paid app.
Phone : lg P500

Hello. I would like to start this thread by saying that i'm a noob in phones and computers in general. So please talk with me like you are talking to a kid.
Now, lets get to the point.
I want to install a ROM on my LG p500 optimus one, any ''newer'' rom will do its job. Now i have rooted the phone(I think) and it was previously installed with 2.3.3 android, and I would like to have a link or a tutorial on precisely how to install it. I mean like 4.3.3 or any newer updates, but the condition is that the phone has to work, everything that works now has to work on the other ROM.
Also, I read somewhere, that some ROM's make your phone perform faster, do you think thats true? And can you show me a tutorial that meets the conditions in bold that i wrote previously?
Please read the following thread to install Kitkat android 4.4.2 which is a smooth ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589303
But wifi tethering is not working

There is absolutely zero need to worry about lag or anything of such before trying a ROM, Kernel, etc. 'Swapper', 'Swapper 2', and other applications similar to these boost your phone's speed (and oh, not to mention, overall performance) to incredible amounts. They do so by literally increasing the phone's RAM be significant amounts (if you want them to). They use your SD card for the extra RAM. My phone currently has 321 applications installed on it, which should make it lag as GTA running on an under-clocked P500, but guess what? It works as smooth as it runs once you buy it (weird examples, but you're getting the point). My preferance: that should not be your worry. What your worry should be is installing a ROM/Firmware not compatible with your Kernel. Good luck!
The newest and smoothest ROM for me is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589303 with this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140930
If it doesn't work as smooth as you expected(that's not gonna happen), you can allways go back to your previous ROM. Try it
Hi guys. I've been following both the android and original android development sections of the OPO forum and have found no kernel that can overclock the OnePlus One running stock (rooted and BL unlocked) CM11s.
So, my question is very simple: is there any kernel that overclocks CM11s? (Yes, i know it is plenty fast already, the only purpose i have for it is bragging rights at the bar TBFH and to see how far it can go)
There is currently no custom kernel with overclocking features that will boot on CM11S.
If you really want it then you can go and flash a custom ROM and flash a kernel such as ak kernel which does have overclocking up to 2880MHz.
Do not flash ak kernel while on 11S, your phone will not boot.

Thank you for you answer. Yes, I realize it wont boot on CM11S. infact, that is the first warning you read upon seeing the kernel.
I guess I will have to wait, since I think CM11S is by far the best ROM for the OnePlus... I had already installed 5 different roms on it and flashed furnace kernel only to see no difference in benchmarks (i think it's because it throttles, even though i stuck it in the cooler)

Benchmarks mean absolutely nothing. Its all about day-to-day performance. Custom ROMs are better in my opinion because currently on 11S there are numerous crucial bugs that are affecting the phone from being used. Just to name some,
- In-call audio volume fixed.
- Some workarounds on the touchscreen problem.
... the list goes on and on but I don't feel like explaining all of them but custom ROMs offer a lot more features than what stock has to offer plus they give you a sneak preview of whats to come in the next OTA without having to wait for it.
The decision is up to you, they're all free after all. Thats the joy of custom ROMs and kernels
Hi guys
I have a old Moto g 1st gen (xt1032)
And been trying to get it running now but with not much luck.
The bootloader is unlocked and twrp installed and I installed a stock rom but it keep crashing about once or twice a day so I formatted everything and installed another rom can't remember the name right now but was comparable for my model .
And that won't get passed the black "android" screen
So been looking into it and people mention kernels but I haven't got a clue about them tbh so how can I tell which kernel I need or do they suit all ROMs
Can anyone suggest a matching kernel and rom
Cheers

I'm a lot really late but just a try a few different ROMs and make sure they say XT1032 or Falcon. ID crisis and Exodus are good 6.x ROM that are very stable. As for kernels, unless you really want to do some low level tweaks that require kernel intergretaion like Overclock, DT2W, CPU governer, etc., I wouldn't worry about it.
If you DO want a kernel I can't recommend ZERO Byte kernel by @BryanByteZ enough. Under volt/clock and over/volt clock, DT2W, it's got everything. Works great with Exodus

Sooo about that a good start is to flash the latest stock 5.1 then flash twrp and choose a 6.X rom (based on cm13) and that depends of your likes and wishes if you want a stable like rock rom i recommend AOSP+OMS 6.X/EXODUS/VanirAOSP if you want customizations there is Ressurection Remix,Dirty Unicorns and others, you just "need" to flash other kernel if you want more advanced features. This is just a recommendation for roms but lucky we have Kitkat, lollipop, marshmallow and nougat roms.
Thanks for the replies guys
I'm beginning to think I have a hardware problem on the phone.
I installed 3 versions of stock 5.1 on it last night
Eu,Brazil, and US I think they were they all install without errors
But only the Eu one boots up the other 2 stay on the "android" black screen.
The one that does boot us unstable though and crashes quite often .
That's why I thought about kernels and maybe it was that as I'm not sure if I need a certain one on my phone or any compatible one will do.

Well I already passed on that I change my bootloader to the one from BR stock 5.1 and now everything works fine. Try to change data partition to f2fs file system.
