For a first place, im sorry if there is a thread like this, i tried to use search, but i have found nothing. SO, what im asking, is a stable, fast, without any huge changes (to help batery last for long) and simple rom for my x8. i dont want to try all these roms out there, cuz it takes much time. Im willing someone will suggest me one. Thanks in advance.
CM7 is the one for you (i think). Simple and fast.

This is my first post in here, I have read a great deal of these posts and thought I would just ask for it. I have HTC Incredible and the battery sucks, I am know all about cycling batterys and everything that I have read is BS it doesnt work. out side of buying a larger mha battery. So I was told that I could change the ROM and it would extend the battery life as long as I dumped out some of the HTC sense stuff. I cant find any threads to that affect but I was wondering if any one has a start for me to read? I dont know much about the ROM so I dont think I ask the proper questsions. THanks
Post in the incredible forum, there is a great deal of knowledge in there. You have to be rooted first then you can download rom manager from the market and mess around with different roms, I havent personally found a rom that has better battery life though.
The biggest thing that I've seen is with 2.2 you dont need a task manager and there is an app called juice defender which helps but it can delay data because it turns off your 3g signal.
Been running MIUI on my EVO for 5+ months and my girlfriend loves it and wants it on her NS4G, but I'm worried about all the bugs with it, since she doesn't know what to do with it if anything starts messing up. What's everyone's look on it (she's very dependent on her GPS and 4G isn't even an issue) THANKS in advance
And does anyone have recommendations of good roms to check out
I got my nexus s maybe a month ago.. Comming from nexus one with cm7. I loaded up miui from the start for a change and have not had any issues with it since, even when changing kernels. Good performance and 20+ hours mid usage imo.

I think MIUI is easier to adapt to if you're not used to the stock Android layout and flow, but dunno if your gf have it for more than a month or something...
Anyway, I think you should go for it (do a nandroid backup first, of course)! If she like it, she'll be pleased by you, if she doesn't, she'll ask for your help and by seeing that you're helpfull she'll love you more

(sorry for my sloppy english, but i think you got the point xP)
Just give it a try for BrainMaster MIUI and German Team MIUI......so far so good...
Brainmasters miui is by far the best. Try that one out.

+1 for brainmaster
only problem so far i have is battery , but i have additional battery , so i won't worry about it ^^
Just tell her not to play around to to much with if if your not around, I found miui runs perfect unless I'm messing around with alot of themes or something..

Hey everyone!
Just bought my first android ( well any smartphone really ) and decided to go with this trusty HTC Desire S (294€). Even the 3.7" screen seems big to me and i couldnt imagine my self having any bigger phone than this...like most of the new models have... im in need of phone now so could'nt wait for Primo Allso the looks we're really appearing compared to One V and some sony arc minis etc... so this is it for me... This phone will be my future 3-4 years as i'm mostly used to use phone to talking..
now i wish this new phone to help me with calendar for work mostly and some www surfing&facebook&gps and camera that works and is with me when needed.
wanted to ask all of you cause this phone has been on market over year now and im all new to any smartphones that what should i do? so much inform on the pages i cant follow, witch rom/sense etc to upgrade.
i see all those roms&senses and stuff... im going to follow the newbie guide for battery optimising with tasker and stuff, but any direction what should i do to get best out of the phone...
i read the phone has gorilla glass and update to android 4.0 + sense ?
what is the use for all that rom upgrades? any trusty roms to recommend?
what is rooting and should i do it?
what is S-on S-off hboot?
So, is there on some working roms/upgrades any amazing features over the original i should be looking into?
phone is my notepad/calandar for work and facebook&camera on freetime...
happy summer everyone!
Frankly, as you are new, don't get into rooting and flashing new roms, hang around the forums, read a lot about it, make yourself comfortable and then get into it.
Enjoy the room that HTC has given you for some time.....

Welcome mate!
At the very first I would suggest you to get used to your phone. Check out all stock functions, applications, settings etc. before you go the rooting way (because this is what needs to be done if you're interested in any custom ROM).
I would deal at least a week with my stock phone, there are many new things to explore
Second, after you got used to your phone a little bit, you should spend some days only reading this forums (guides, tutorials etc..). Since you want to spent the next 3-4 years with your phone I think you don't want to mess it up. Go the safe route like I did some months ago, read up what needs to be done and try to understand a little bit how things work, before you attempt to do anything.

Ok mates.. its just.... i've used to oc the hardware i own to get the juice out... i thought with all this rom etc.. the software has been tweaked to best... so its worth doing... i'll be hanging here for sure a long time so no hurry... just anxious to learn what the phone is capable...
thanks for repplys... still i think i'll end up tweaking it to suit my needs and get best performance like with all stuff i own... just the more reliable&secure the better...

Go to the general and dev section, read all the stickies in both then mod away, uta your phone after all. If in doubt search on the forum and good then ask on here, following all the stickies u should have access to fool proof info but if your ever having problems there is almost always someone online who can help

Hello Folks,
Im a long time member of this board now. Right Now Im using Blackout Rom for our Device with the latest amidabuddha Kernel.
At the beginning everything was smooth and nice, but now my phone sucks major horse ****! It's slow, drops connections, sometimes Im even unable to place calls and the pleasure I once had using my phone is now changed to frustration! Is this normal? Well, I dont think so.
Thats why I decided to go back to the roots. I dont want to miss the benefits of root, but Im really thinking about turning my back to Sense to gain some more performance on my phone. Is there any non-Sense ROM running with Android 4 (minimum) which is in the state "Stable"? I dont want any experimental thingie. I want to use my phone with every function it offers. I hope at least some of you guys can help me out here.
Kind Regards,
dschibril
1.this looks like a Q&A thread. shouldn't be here in general section. 2.try out ROMS yourself. everyone has different preferences.
3.Questions should go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143855

There is no absolute definition of "stable". for many people the cm10/cm10.1 Roms are currently stable enough for daily use. But if you want every function your phone offers, you're probably better off with a sense rom...
Anyway, trying them yourself is the only way to see if they fit your needs.
Anyway, I tried Pacman Rom v 19.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672537
It is quiet good. And without Sense it seems to me that it is quite faster.. Just a recommandation from me
For me, jellytime is great. Using it a long time and it doesn't have any flaws. It's 4.2.1 btw

No "Best rom" Threads, please. See Guide Sticky.
Hello. I've been looking for a solution, couldn't find anything. I tryied search function but couldn't find exactly what I need.
I'm currently using 2 brand new Infuse 4g.
I was using SGS-IV Rom but didn't like it, so I started to search for a decent battery/performance Rom, and found out about Avatar Rom v7.0.
I installed it in both cellphones. Everything was working fine, very smooth, I installed a few apps like Instagram, Facebook, small games, Dropbox, nothing very high consuming.
After an hour or so, one of the cellphone started to get very hot and reboot itself. I pulled the battery, let it get cold for a while but after using it again, would start reboot again.
Meanwhile, both cellphones are consuming a lot of battery, I mean, they don't even last 4-5 hours with normal use, while with SGS Rom, was lasting around 8-10 with the same apps.
So I would like to know if I'm missing something. I see everybody talking about how good battery life is with Avatar Rom. I don't think this has something to do with the apps installed, but I'm willing to do anything to fix this.
Thanks in advance for any help, tips or advices that anybody here can give me.
Did you dirty flash?
