Cant boot up To clockword recovory? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Im kinda new to this guy so plz bare with me:/. Ive rooted my phone before by super one click, and also installed a app called "Absolute System Root Tools" and couple rooted apps, n from absolute app i would click "Reboot into recovery" and of course would take me to that orang android. But now that i try doing it by holding down volume and power. Nothing happens :/, all its been doing its factoring reset. Even if i do it from the absolute app, nothing happens just restarts normal. Can some one help me out here what i need to reboot to recovory, would appreciate it and plz bare with me bearly getting into this.

No worries. I was there last week
If you have CWM already installed, you should be able to just HOLD power + volume down at the same time until the boot screen changes from LG > ANDROID and some icons (then you can let go of both buttons. Try that.

Did you flash CWM properly through the NVFLASH tools? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Or did you just install CWM the soft way through an app in the OS while it was running like you would through Rom Manager? For Tegra devices this isn't a proper recovery flash and will not work correctly. Recovery flash needs to be done through NVFLASH.

Yeah I got ityalready guys, took me all night till 8am to figuered it out and finally installed my first rom thanks for the help by the way.

[Q] Can't get blue recovery screen to load up

I have been running on the gb 2.3.3 rom (rooted) that I have flashed using odin back in summer and now decided to do some more upgrading . So I found a new rom that was very intriguing to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305145 After doing some research I realized I needed to do a different type of flashing (cwm?), and not through odin. So I downloaded root explorer into my phone and followed the procedures in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508 but every time I try to put my phone in the recovery mode (holding volume up + down + power) it wouldn't go into the blue screen. Instead, it would just restart, and restart, etc.. Any suggestions? Do I need to do something with the kernels?
p.s.hahah after messing around and looking through forums all day, I got a little impatient and flashed gb 2.3.6 using odin in the mean time

Try this.
Basically do what youre doing but instead of keeping on holding to it, hold on to Volup+voldown+power for 2 reboots, then on the 3rd reboot, the gs4g screen in the beginning lights up a slight lighter than usual. Let go of the power button, See if this works.

Just making a quick check. You ARE using a galaxy s 4g right? if so, then from that link, download the kg4.tar from the odin section. Then flash via odin. .

Hi I have the same problem but I still cant get into recovery, I go straight into Download mode. Please Help
It might be because your phone is connected to the computer? If so, try disconnecting it
No its not that, I can access it without it being connected to a computer.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
This thread says the original GB rom changed the key mapping. Any ideas on where I can find a fix. I think thats what happened to me.
hmm I'm still relativley new to this kind of stuff as well, so the only route I know that you can do that will most likley fix the problem is to odin to a newer rom, perhaps the one I have linked above, then odin the kernal as well to get it rooted and follow the guide on how to do it if you're confused. Then turn off your phone, hold (volume up + volume down + power), screen should boot up then dissapear, boot up again, then disappear, and on the third boot up, just release the power button but continue holding on to the volume up + volume down buttons and just wait. The cwm screen should come up from what I experienced on two different sgs4g's. Hope that helps somewhat lol. I'm sure there might be a easier way to just fix the key mapping but I'm not to sure on how to do it. gl
I just verified that method works for me as well. I'm lazy, though, and downloaded Quick Boot from the app store as it lets you boot into recovery or download mode. Less fuss.

Clockwork Recovery Won't Boot

Ok, so I did my first root last night with my G2x and flashed CM7 onto it using the instructions here for GB. The process didn't seem to go through at first because it kind of froze for awhile, but when I took out the battery and put it back in it loaded up. (I understand I may have made a mistake here.)
I thought all was good but then I tried to boot up Clockwork recovery to flash the GAPPs zip and everytime I tried it wouldn't go through the screens it is supposed to.
I'd hold the down volume and power buttons and the first LG (white) would show. Then it would bring up a cyan colored horizontal loading bar under the LG. I continue to hold the buttons hoping to see the cyan LG but then screen changes to a box with an orange arrow pointing to an android logo. There is a loading bar under this as well. If I let go here it loads up CM7 but if I continue holding on it takes me to the S/W screen.
I've tried this multiple times but I've kinda given up. I even tried individually installing the apks from the GAPPS zip but only a few of them successfully installed.
At a loss .Please let me know what I can do.
Let me guess. You flashed CWM via ROM manager?
Follow he guide here and let us know how it goes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Also, before you install the ROM use the wipe tool in my sig.
I appreciate the response but I did use that thread to flash it.

When it get to the point where "the cyan colored horizontal loading bar" let go of the volume and power button and see if it boots into CWM.
Ok, I tried that and it went to that android logo screen again. Then it went to a black screen and then the cyan LG logo screen. From there it booted up CM7.
I just noticed when I try to boot into Clockwork it erases everything I added to it including contacts and apps I installed.

I will unroot and try again. A few questions though:
I'm reading and it looks like I need to be able to boot into CWR to be able to unroot...is using ROM Manager a safe alternative?
And also, while I followed the instructions for flashing through the thread you provided last time, I read that I may need to erase/wipe certain types of data before I do so to avoid the market problems. Can someone provide me information on that?
I just want to make sure I do this right a second time.

No need to unroot... as long as your computer still detect your phone... just flash everything again... I mean since you want to root... I would just do all the rooting process again... and reflash clock work... don't use rom manager to flash clockwork mod...
Or
And since you can't get into clockwork... you can just try flashing clockwork again... no rom manager

Sweet, so I reflashed CWR and CM7 and I got my contacts back and several other minor issues were corrected.
I am experiencing a new problem now though. Whenever I try to download from the market it tells me "[App name] could not be downloaded due to an error."
What can be done to fix this?

Rom Manager is not a safe alternative. Stay with Nvidia ClockworkMod.
Its should be a blue lg logo when you have to let go of the buttons.

Every time before you re- flash a rom I would recommend doing a data/factory reset within clockwork recovery. then Wipe your cache. And then even a wipe of the dalvic cache under advanced settings. Then flash the rom then gapps. Then reboot. Its called doing a clean install. It just makes everything smoother when re- flashing. And if your apps ever not update like that again just fix the permissions in clockworkmod then reboot. It usually fixes it. And i don't recommend flashing directly from the rom manager. Do it from recovery instead. Hope this helps.

Rocking stock CM 7.2.0-RC1
Similar issue, totally different outcome...
Ladies and Gentlemen (and low-lifes),
I have found myself in a similar situation, after recently flashing a ROM, to where I am now unable to boot into CW Recovery. The ROM flashed is working fine but when I attempt to boot into recovery I get a black screen and it never progresses beyond that. I have attempted to reflash of course via NVFlasher and from all indications it's been a successful flash. That said, the results remain the same... black screen.
FYI: I have not yet attempted to flash back to Stock Recovery.
•Current Rom - Owain's Domination v77 (a great ROM by the way)
•Current kernel - Harsh's 3.0.32
•Used Nullifier to prep device for ROM install (as I have been doing for sometime now)
If anyone has any experience w/this issue or any advice going forward I would greatly appreciate it.
UPDATE: (that was fast huh?) .................................................................................................................................................................................................
So I went ahead and flashed the Stock Recovery, tested and got access. I then flashed CWM 5.0.2.0 and to my delight was able to see the CWM console. I let go of the power and volume down buttons and the phone rebooted. Now the ROM will not boot, just sits in a forever cycle on the splash screen and the results continue to be the same as recently mentioned for attempting to get into the freshly flashed recovery.

Ok, I will bring my concerns to an end now. I forced CWM to remain in play by not letting go of the power and vol. down buttons then using my thumb to see if I could stroll through options in CWM. Once I accessed a few it remain stable. I nullified and re-flashed my ROM and all seems ok in my personal corner of the universe. I am now able to boot into CWM without issue.

I think my lg g2x is bricked (im kind of a noob)

What i did before this problem
1.used the lg support tool to go from froyo to gingerbead (worked great)
2. attempted to use clockwork rom to install icecream sandwhich based rom (it failed)
What i get now
1.If i turn my phone on like i always would i would get the lg logo, and it would stay like that forever
2. if i try to boot into recovery i get "s/w upgrading"
I contacted lg and they said to send it in and wait 2 WEEKS to get it back and there may be an additional charge
Can someone please help me fix this without going to lg. I just want to be able to use my phone again :'(

I did the exact same thing to my phone the other day. Then install the new rom via clockworld after its done.
But if you installed the 2.3.4 then don't update to any rom besides the kwes 2.3.4 because anything else you won't have audio or anything while in call there is no fix for it yet besides using kdz to downgrade.

if you're unsure of the APX drivers set-up you have a more basic guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

I don't think you're booting the phone up into cwm the right way.
Lol do this:
Make sure phone is off. While the phone is off hold down the volume down button.
While still holding volume down, hold the power button.
Continue to hold BOTH the volume down and power buttons. When the SECOND LG logo appears, let go of both of the buttons.
And no offense, but if you're not comfortable with modding your phone... you really shouldn't do it or ask someone else who knows what they're doing to do it.

From my personal experiance with the G2x (i thought i had bricked my phone), i have discovered that it is nearly impossible to brick this phone. That script is perfectly fine and didn't hurt your phone at all. It states that it will wipe everything out even the rom you were previously on. So when the phone rebooted it stayed on that LG logo because it didn't have a rom to bootup.
At that point a quick battery pull and reboot into recovery was all you needed to do.

Ok, so then its safe to assume that you rooted your phone first? Then you set up your phone by using nvflash so you can use ClockWorkMod (CWM)? Then booted your phone into recovery and tried to install ICS? If not done in this order then thats your fault. If you did it in this order then you missed something.
A common mistake is trying to install a ROM via CWM while the phone is running. When you do this the phone restarts and gives you the error triangle with android underneath it.

As for recovery they provisded the right link. Follow it to the "T" and you'll be ok.

But the key issue was that CWM recovery was destroyed as well after nullifing thus leaving me in a stand still to do something. nvflash was the only thing left to recover the phone at that point which worked very well.
There is pretty much no way that after running either the One-Click or Cleanup Batch that he can't get the phone into CWM unless there is a hardware problem. This most likely means that the problem isn't with the scripts or phone, but with the procedure he is attempting.
Even if nullifier (which I don't think is of much use here) had wiped all partitions, the NVFlash will still pop you out of it and leave you with a working CWM.
So keep reading and keep watching videos of how to do it and make sure your drivers are correct. READ a bunch first.
And remember that he got here due to an LG software problem or issue with operation, not from trying to flash as a noob, so he knows he's in over his head right now.
Remember, we all had to start swimming somewhere and it usually wasn't pretty at first. Mine was a corrupted Motorola RAZR.
It appears that this is an older post, but if you are still having this issue, then maybe I can help. If anyone else finds this later, hopefully it helps them as well. I just did something similar and I thought I was screwed. I rooted my phone, installed a ROM (Hellfire... nice ROM BTW), then I got the nullifier. I installed the ROM before I ran the nullifier because I wanted to make sure the ROM worked. However, after running the nullifier, the ROM didn't work.
The only thing that I could get to show was the LG logo at the startup... no second logo (Blue LG), no SW upgrade... NOTHING. The phone wouldn't do anything else. Luckily, I wasn't the first to have this issue and they found the solution...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
Since you have already done other steps, I am assuming that you already have the drivers installed. So, the only thing you should need to do is download the ROM then install it by clicking flash.bat. The instructions on the page are pretty easy to follow.
No need to deal with the NvFlash until AFTER you do the above procedure. You will need to run it again after the above procedure because it puts it back in the original state (pretty much). The NvFlash will give you the superuser and Clockmod back. You should be good to go after that.
There is no way u can brick the g2x......even if u wanted to.........keep messing around

Booting into Recovery P925g

I have a Rogers LG-P925g. I have rooted, flashed roms, unrooted and returned to stock and rooted again. I have read this forum extensively. As I understand, any O3D should go into recovery by the volume down,+ 3d and power method. In at least 100 attempts ( stock, rooted, custom rom) this method has never worked for my phone. The only way I can get to recovery is through Rom Manager. This makes it kind of scarey when you get into a boot loop and can't get rom manager running to pick "reboot into recovery"
Took me days to finally stumble across using Smartflash to re flash stock rom to unbrick phone after stupidly using LG update on my rooted and ThiaiZ O3D V2.8 phone. Being able to use vol- and 3d when power would have saved me countless hours of work.
Anybody else have this problem? Any other way to get into recovery?

Thought that would be the answer, but the buttons work, i.e. I can turn volume up and down, and 3d button works when phone in normal operation. I could be doing it wrong? Believe me, I have watched countless you tube videos showing how to do button press and read every description I could find in O3D forum, but still, I guess I could be doing it wrong. Tried every little variation in how I press them and when I let go, to no avail. I have many devices and done lots of rooting and rom flashing. Still I guess I could be doing it wrong. Even tried the 910k resistor usb, but no way could I get into recovery. Only with Rom Manager. So I know phone will go into recovery or at least I know it will go into CWM recovery.
Thank you for reply though, appreciate any input!

Well for me the only way to get into Cwm is pressing power +volume down + 3D, but if I keep power button pressed, phone will power off, or never get into Cwm, so I let go the power key, and press it and let it go many times till it get to Cwm.
That's my way since I got the phone. Hope it helps You.

im pretty sure that ive never been able to get into recovery, even when i had factory restored my phone. when i do the recovery start method (hold volume down and power) it tends to just cycle through the LG symbol to a box with an arrow pointing out to a little android man. which then loops around to the LG symbol again. any time i do this, it just eventually normal starts my phone, which puts the eagles blood symbol, then the phone shuts down.
When the little android appears, you must press menu button (on the left), one time only. If you wait or you press many times, the phone will reboot normally and will skip the recovery mode.

yeah when i click the menu button, (and i am assuming that the one you are referring to is the menu button on the actual phone) it doesnt even register that i click it, and continues to try and boot normally
is there a way for me to just unroot/ or revert back to the old way my phone was?
FIXED
UPDATE :
Thanks for all your help guys i finally figured out what went wrong.
1: firstly i used the incorrect method of flashing the recovery on my phone (i did it through clockwerk, and if you did this your screwed pretty much)
2: i did not have the gapps on my sd card when i ran the ice cream sandwich install.
i used this method to force flash the recovery on my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
then i repeated the correct process on the ICS website, (this time with the gapps on my sd card)
The ICS rom is now running full force and i love every bit of it (though i feel like a caveman with a stick) and i am having fun re-discovering my phone
much love and thanks
