[Q] froze one to many apps, lock screen is blank... - HTC Sensation

OK guys I goofed up and need a little help....
I rooted/s-offed my phone tonight, installed Titaniun and was having fun freezing apps (as a temp measure untill I find my desired rom to load) and on reboot I have a problem.....
Currently my background active wall paper is the only thing that displays, if I get a phone call the phone rings, I get the top status bar showing the green phone icon, but I cant answer the phone or anything.... when the call hangs up the missed call screen with phone # etc shows for a split second. I cannot unlock the phone to do anything either.
Is there anyway to recover my phone without doing a factory reset? and no I was stupid and did not take a backup of the phone before I started freezing apps
Bill

No back up = Factory Reset. Sorry bro but think about it this way. It could always be worse to the point a factory reset may not even work. I ran into that problem a ton through my first 3 Android devices.

yep thats what I figured, thanks for confirming my suspesions LOL

mytouch 4g erasing all screens

OK, so, i know the topic sounds confusing. But my wife's mytouch 4g's battery died the other day. so, we charge it up then turn it on only to find out that every widget, every app, etc is gone from the screen. all that is left is the live wallpaper. apps and everything are still on the phone but all the links to the apps and various widgets are gone. just blank live wall paper screens. so, she manually puts everything back like it used to be, rebooted the phone and now everything is gone again. WTF? anyone know why it is doing this and how to make it not happen? she is against installing any custom ROMs (i'm working on bringing her to the dark side of android). thanks for the help.

The first thing you should try before you do anything else is a factory reset. This sounds like a pretty weird software bug. If it continues, call T-mobile and have them send a replacement.
Is this her first Android? Is she restoring data and settings from another phone through the use of MyBackUp or similar programs? Sometimes using these programs to restore data can cause strange behavior like this, especially if that data is coming from a different device.
On first boot after the factory reset let the phone sit for a solid 5 minutes before setting up. There is first boot "thinking" going on...
EDIT - if you lucked out and got the "good" screen and don't want to warranty replace it you could always root and use the stock nandroid restore found somewhere in the mytouch 4g development section. I'm fairly certain that a factory reset will solve your problems though.
that happen to me.... power the handheld down and let it sit a good few minutes and then boot it back up... all the homes screens should be back to normal.
idk whats up maybe its a bad batch of MyTouchs T-mo recently recieved but i had to send mine back as it kept rebooting itself multiple times a day

Thunderbolt HTC Sense Loading Problems

I rooted my TBolt earlier this week and now I just moved my bloat apps to my sdcard. All went well except i tried to put the car panel app back. So I read further about how to put back apps and resetting the permissions. I tried it with the car panel app and it seemed to have worked but I couldn't see it in the app list. So I read further and found a suggestion to clear the data of the HTC Sense app. My thinking was that I had to do that in order to get car panel app to appear again. But it did not work.
Well I cleared the HTC Sense data and now all I get after many battery removals, reboots, etc. is the following after I unlock the screen.
"Loading...
It may take several minutes to complete, please wait."
It's been doing this for a day now and I dont know what to do.
The phone seems to be functioning because I can receive calls and msgs. But I cannot launch anything.
I also tried doing the power+dwn vol, on reboot and tried to recover, restore factory etc... but nothing is working..
Any advice....?
THanks in advance...
Problem fixed, thanks

[Q] My screen has blacked out. What can I do?

OK, so tonight I decided to install the Atrix 2 Blaze mod. It installed without any issues.
After installing and verifying that everything worked, I then decided to use Titanium Backup to batch restore my apps. This appeared to work, and at the end of the process it told me to reboot. So I did.
Once it booted back up, I was greeted with the lock screen, as you'd expect -- but when I unlocked the phone, all I saw was a black screen and the notification bar on top. No wallpaper, no icons, no widgets, nothing. I could open the task drawer, I could make the soft keyboard appear, I could bring up the "open apps" window... but I can't actually do anything because the screen is freaking black.
But because the notification bar works, I can tell there are things going on. I see my phone checking for email. I see my phone battery decreasing. I see notifications when my google+ or twitter apps detect people are replying to threads I've been on. In other words, the phone appears to be working in every way except that there's nothing on the screen for me to interact with.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to fix it? I hope?
Your best bet is probably just to flash the 2.3.5 Stock FXZ and start from scratch.

try re-flashing ?
looks like you loose your home launcher ..
I had the EXACT same problem, everything below the notifications bar was blacked out, i could bring up recent apps, but i couldn't even bring up the emergency dial pad at the unlock screen. Only difference is mine happened when i froze Go Launcher using Titanium Backup. I could tell it was still trying to run Go Launcher coz i could auto-rotate the screen.Sadly, the only option i had was to reset the phone and loose everything. I couldnt even backup my files coz i set USB mode to charge only so it never popped up on PC.
I reckon you restored an app that has a missing component/data and so it crashes at startup, maybe a home launcher, locker etc. Try making a backup then resetting your phone
Same problem here Ill try the fxy method,
any of you had solve the problem?

[Q] [BUG] - Not waking up from standby and not switching off!

Hi,
I got my Moto G on the weekend (Unlocked from Tesco Mobile for £2.04, thanks ebay)
However, on one occasion, the phone would not turn the screen off until I held the power button for 10 seconds to reboot it.
But more often (a few times every day), the phone will not wake up from standby until I do the same to reboot it. This morning this alarm clock to fail, so this could be an issue.
Does anyone else have the same issue and know of a fix?
Thanks!
Whichs apps do you have installed? Are you rooted? Did you already try a factory reset?

I am not rooted. I have tried a factory reset, and with only google account set up the issues still persist! Arghhh, i really like the phone and dont want to send it back

Do the issue exist if you don't add a Google account? Have you restored old settings through Google backup?

I havent restored settings after a reboot, but i have noticed that I get reboots when I am editing google contacts on the phone....
Crappy sleep of death issue .... Seems moto g is having battery issues...
Mm not battery issues its just SW issues.
Simply fixed but will need an update.
Little tweeks like on a phone call when i move the phone away from my ear to open dialer to enter details on an automated service the screen won't come on until I press the power button twice. Once to lock and once to unlock. Then I can bring up dialler
Its due to all the little refinements in power management but it will get fixed.
I personally can live with the little niggles just now for the amazing 3.5-4 hours screen on time I'm getting.
Yest under heavy mobile data use it went a full 14 hours with the 3.5hours screen in time. It was great because I basically done all my Christmas shopping on my phone and checked store prices when out.
If its rebooting often enough I would do a fresh install and start again.
THE BIGGEST thing I found that made a difference in this phone and I think moto should highlight this is:
Do not import previous phone settings on initial start up. This somehow beings weird and wonderful phone settings over and seems to play Havoc with the overall performance of the device be it battery life or connectivity.
I ended up wiping the device in factory reset and on the section on initial set up about backup and restore I unchecked the second option of restore my device settings. Left everything else and since the phone has worked as it should.
My only issue is the power and volume keys location in my car holder means it can be powered off by the holder doh. So I'm looking for a new one which doesn't hug my buttons lol

Thanks for your help guys, I was still getting random sleeps of death and random reboots so I took the device back to tesco.
They were quick to replace it and I will let you know if I am still getting these issues.
Don't import any old settings, do it manually or you could (if you have the software) do a migrate from My Backup Pro, which I used to migrate pics, contacts, call logs & sms from my old phone with zero issues. My phone hasn't rebooted or had any issues whatsoever. I suspect you just had a faulty unit. Mine is an unlocked tesco16gb too.
rare problem

[Q] Bluetooth will not turn on...

Just got a replacement N5 from Google for a warranty issue and after full re-root and setup I went to get in the car today and use bluetooth and I noticed a problem. Bluetooth will not turn on. Tapping the slider moves the position to on but it remains greyed out and, in fact, off. I tried a restore of the bluetooth share and pairings from Titanium backup and that just hung and never completed. I can always factory reset it but I hate to go back through that ... anyone got a way to 're-install' bluetooth and save a reset and reconfiguring for me?

This apparently has been problem for Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. One poster from android central posted this for his Nexus 4:
I called Google technical support and they found a solution for me.
-In your Nexus 4, go to parameters/Applications/All/Bluetooth
-Here: erase cache, data and updates.
-Resart your phone.
In Nexus 5 Settings>Apps>All>Bluetooth Share. There you might try Clear data and Clear cache.
Got nothing to lose. Hope it works. I cannot test it myself since my Bluetooth is working.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had looked around and saw a couple mentions loosely similar related to the N4 but wasn't sure if same applied to N5. Looking though ... I do not have a bluetooth share app installed. That must be the issue, anyone got a way to re-install that Bluetooth Share, seems my backups from Titanium won't restore it.
Found thread where someone had your issue and solved it with reset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/activate-bluetooth-t2595761
Maybe you could do backup to PC and get this restored with reset.
I know it is a PITA.
I figured a reset would square it away, was just hoping to find a way to avoid that if I could. I suppose next w/e I will reset if I don't find another way to get BY back.

When I run this app, it says no BT folder found. Seems the issue is that somehow this BT Share app just isn't there.
Another fix...
I know you already solved your problem, but I thought for people like me, who have found this thread later on, I'd just sign up to XDA and post my fix.
I didn't want to do a hard reset, so I played around with the "Bluetooth-Share"-thing in the Android app manager.
I cleared the cache and the data, that didn't do anything, even after a reboot I couldn't get the Bluetooth toggle from beging greyed out.
After that, I found that button at the very top right, that is labeled as " Uninstall Updates" or something like that. I tapped it and tapped OK at the following prompt. Where the "Uninstall Updates" button was before, should now be a greyed out "Disable" button. Then you need to reboot.
Try to enable Bluetooth. The toggle should turn blue after a few seconds as usual. Bluetooth should work normally now.
I hope my post helped anybody, :cyclops:

I am not having any luck. My bluetooh stopped working after doing a hard reset. Please note I've never rooted or flashed a ROM, or unlocked boot loader or anything. My N4 and N5 have always been completely stock.
I've tried everything in this thread, except I am not sure what hiwye is talking about as I cannot find an uninstall updates. I went ahead and tried another factory restore/wipe and still have same issue. I hit toggle to turn Bluetooth on, it then immediately toggles back to off.
Just as a side note, my bluetooh was working fine until the factory wipe/reset. I did the reset in an attempt to fix a sim card slot issue, that is also still not resolved. Upon restarting my phone, I get "no sim card" message. I got a new sim card and also confirmed the sim card works fine in other phones..... i can turn off, pop it out and back in and boot it again. sometimes it will see the sim card again. It may take 20 times, but finally work..... I should probably start a new thread on the sim card thing, but wondering if my motherboard needs replaced.....

I get the same Sim card missing screen I have tried a new sprint Sim and same issue. They way I have been fixing it is to pop off back cover and where the vibration motor sits (stays attached to cover) I put my finger in the hole and squeeze the 2 parts together and hold tight till it finishes booting and it will see the card. I'm not sure what's exactly the problem is but it works as temp fix and will stay until the next reboot.

Only device so doing it and taking PUC not gonna happen let me look up some images and I'll post them its not that difficult if you have had the back cover off before its very obvious where motor is. The motor is literally just under the flash led. Pop off cover starting at the top and slowly down each side with a guitar pick there is a tiny bit of adhesive at the bottom of rear cover about where the soft keys are when phone is on. Peel that up slow and you will see the vibration motor stuck to rear cover. See the space it came out of and put finger in that hole. And other finger opposite the first one on the glass and squeeze.... Not crazy so you break screen. Don't take much pressure. Start light and boot it. Says no Sim, try again with a little more pressure. When it first happened I googled sh*t for 2 days and couldn't find a fix. And this worked when I tried and a few reboots after. I shut phone off or battery dies I gotta do it to get Sim recognized.
