i never knew that was there! i feel fumb... do we input the imei or the serial number with letters and numbers?

My phone froze in fastboot and said there was a communication error .

Frikkin wonderfull! LeeDrOiD has S-Off

The program hangs when “waiting for the system to settle.” -OR- the program says “Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted.”
Uninstall any programs that may connect to the phone over USB and automatically sync. Specifically, we have had interference from HTC Sync and Doubletwist in the past; other programs may also cause trouble. Try reinstalling the drivers, if all else fails (or use Linux, which has a 99% less sucky USB stack).

[TIP] Running the RUU to get back to stock

I ran into a few problems getting back to stock until I remembered a minor detail from my HTC Hero days.
You need to download and install HTC Sync get it here install it.
Reboot your computer
make sure the phone is NOT in USB debug mode and is in charge only mode.
the proper drivers will install. you'll know it's done right if you see ADB pop up as one of the drivers installed. You'll see a warning that HTC sync isn't detecting your phone and that's ok.
Then run the RUU exe all should work fine.
Get the RUU exe from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952224 This is FROYO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191959 This one is Gingerbread
Didn't realize debugging had to be disabled.

So even if I've tried going through the rooting process and it didn't work, this will basically put the phone back the way it was before I started that process?

Good sir I can not thank you enough for helping me get my phone back. i don't even mind all the bloatware now. Too bad I can't use the thanks button more than once. I really appreciate it.
Happy to be of service. I can't dev my way out of a paper bag, well I've never tried, but I can share what I do know.
I tried to run the RUU but it failed twice. Both times it would get about 70% finished and it would stop with an Error 110 which says that a file is either open or corrupted. Then it tells you to download the RUU again and run it again, which I did but got the same results. I downloaded it with the anti virus and firewall turned off. Is there another site to download the file from?

Either flash a different rom via Clockwork Mod or run the RUU. If you choose the RUU, be sure HTC Sync is installed, USB Debugging is checked and Fastboot is unchecked.
Thank you! It works!
Just used this thread to get my Inspire back to stock before taking it back for a refund and cancelling service. Decided to go with the HTC Evo3d from Sprint. This method worked returning the phone back to the latest (Gingerbread) and unrooted it from Cyanogen (CM7) ROM. Thanks a ton for sharing your wisdom!
Baffling Issues.
Hey, I have a question. When running this RUU update (downgrade) it gives me this: Error 140: Bootloader version error. Its agravating. I'd love to go back to froyo... I really can't use GB because it blocks tethering. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I take it you're not S-OFF? HTC (and probably others) decided they didn't want users reverting to older versions. You'll have to root, get S-OFF, before you can revert, but if you're rooted, you might as well just use the new andTether from google code:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233141
Just found out at Best Buy that my phone is crap. The memory is out and I have no apps installed, my HD card is empty except for the standard stuff, and I get error that I need to free up memory or something like that. Guy told me to UNroot my phone and call AT&T.
So, this thread is all I need to do that???? Can it really be this easy????
thanks so much,

Ok, thanks for the info! And this phone has no root, its my Moms phone and she needs the tethering. Eh, maybe we can exchange the phone. Other than that I don't know what to do. I am having issues with this revolutionary method as well. i download the zip, extract it, download the fastboot, get the key code, run the extracted program, and the window says waiting for device. so i ran it again with mounting my sensation before running and same thing. It hasnt yet given me a chance to enter the key code. im only assuming i have to enter it cause it is not taking the code it pops up with when you enter your information. I Just bought a PC so I can to root my phones better without waiting for a MAC version of every thing. If anyone knows the step I am missing, please let me know. I would love to experiment with COREdroid but i have to get S-OFF first.

The Quickest way in solving this issue is just to install the HTC Drivers. With that, follow the Guide on the Dev section and it should be okay.
For future reference of Linux users who may find this thread, don't forget to run revolutionary, fastboot, or adb as a root user.
That'll usually solve all that plagues you with problems like "waiting for device" and such.
"sudo ./revolutionary"

i use "google-translate" to write problem in hebrew:
"The problem is this: occasionally popping Security Update Notification - Important information device. I confirm the update, but unfortunately soon after the phone re-booted, and I get an error (probably), which is actually a triangle in which an exclamation mark next to a painting of "Adnroaid" blue (sad). If I take out the battery and put it back, the phone returns to normal, meaning that it works.
I just want to understand why I can not make updates? It is important to note that the phone exactly the same condition as he left the box (in terms of software and hardware), ie make no changes to the phone, and have never downloaded a software update, or an alternative operating system.
- Thanks so much for the help, and sorry for the unclear language."

Since the phone is new and untouch as you said... I think its a good idea to bring it back to where you bought it and ask them what's going on... You should still be able to change it if there is something wrong with it...

Download This RUU and run from pc while the telephone is USB plugged.
This should solve the problem because is an updated software of what you have.
What is strange is hebrew language of your phone because according to software number it should be an European one.

I'd be surprised if anyone will upload a backup for you. Nandroid takes a complete image of the device and as such is likely to contain all sorts of personal data.

It sounds like you've either got the incorrect firmware, or ROM, or it could be just incorrect check sums.
To save on re-writing everything that's been done thousands of times before, I'm going to provide this link to Android Revolution HD.
It describes how to do everything step by step. If you want to start from a clean base, just boot in to recovery, and wipe everything, switch it to USB mode, load your files on, and start flashing from scratch.
Remember, to make a nandroid every time you flash something new if you're unsure about anything. It's time consuming, but saves you a lot of time in the long run. I found out the hard way.
If you have any more problems, feel free to PM me, and I'll reply usually pretty quickly.

Agreed. SuperCID and s-off means you can run any ruu. If it doesn't run, something is stopping it:
Try the stock European ruu. Remove other software from PC that might sync with phone (HTC sync, double twist etc.) Check AV/firewall is not blocking ruu. Run ruu as administrator on your machine.

Can not push recovery to HOS

Hi,
I recently relocked my HOS for the official JB from HTC. I have come to say it sucks monkeyballs. Now I tried to unlock, push recovery from TWRP and CM10 on my phone. Well, I can not do those things.
I can succesfully unlock my phone (wich it is now) but i can not push any recovery. It just stands there in Command Promt: waiting for device. And my device keeps in fastboot... I don't know what I can do
I have used Hasoon's tool, used it solely via cmd and fastboot. It just doesn't work .
Can anyone help me out?
