**Edit** Sorry just started reading the Rogers 2.2 update thread and can see a lot of people are having the same problem...guess I should have read through that first. Sorry. Will try out anything recommended in there first.
I have a Rogers Captivate, and I'm trying to update to the official Froyo that was just released today.
I've installed Kies version 1.5.3.10113_29 and it finds my phone just fine.
So it pops up to say hey there's a firmware update for your phone and I click on it. It tries to back up my contacts and fails "Failed to Load". Then shows the upgrade window. I click on upgrade and it goes to the first stage of the process "Caution". I hit All information has been verified and the Next and it goes to stage 2 'Information'. I hit Allow saving, (or Proceed without saving, it doesn't matter because i get the same result every time) then Next.
Then I'm greeted with a message saying "MSC.Thunder.FirmwareUpdate has encountered a problem and needs to close."
I've tried every solution I can find and nothing works.
I'm running XP SP3. .NET framework is updated. I even went into the registry and created the Software/Samsung/FUS key that was recommended.
I'm ready to set my face on fire here does anyone have any ideas what's going on?
Thanks.
Hello
I tried to update to the latest peep update, however, i removed the app using titanitum. So when the phone tries to re boot, it cannot apply the update.
Does anyone have any idea how i can get peep back onto my phone?
Thanks
Can someone tell me where the android ota zip gets stored, i downloaded it and it wont install, and now the phone is bugging me to install it all the time. So any thoughts on stopping it asking to update also#?
never mind, found it in /cache
still need to know how to stop it asking in future
sideloading has suddenly stop working for me, the Chevron app shows that I am unlock but I keep receiving the same error as if the device had never been connected to my PC. the only thing that has changed to my system (PC) was the Mango update. I uninstalled and reverted back to the old zune software to in case it was the new update. I even started over with a different phone that is currently pre NoDo and still no luck. and no skype running

When you update to mango you had installed and the Windows Phone DevTools 7.1 beta
You must remove it and install the previous version with all the patches and updates as it was before mango to be able to sideload apps from your system again.
first of all, you will want to post the error code message and/or look for it to find some help.
also here we have the problem that sideloading does not work anymore, after mango update.
now, you say that another different phone is also not working?
interresting...
change usb port, or use another computer/ reinstall windows.
i maybe would try in vm too...

that is wrong
- i successfully downgraded to 7004, unlocked, protected, deployed & updated to nodo & mango with mango sdk 7.1 installed, i only used zune 4.7 because of backups...
also in the thread i mentiond someone already reinstalled sdk & zune and nothing has changed for him.
hi everyone!
i need help for fixing a small issue i have now that i have rooted my Asus Memo Pad 8..
problem: i rooted my tablet, then i used Clean master (or something like that..) to delete some pre-installed apps like zinio, maps, etc.. but i realize now that i shouldnt have done that!..well..not yet anyway!..
because, when i scan for updates, it finds one, so i try to update, it download the 27MB update, then i tap to install it, so the device reboots, then i see the Android guy installing the update..then i see it on his back with ''error'' ...
...i'm pretty sure the reason the update fails is because of the deleted/missing apps that the update may be looking for, to update..:silly:
what i need: i would love if someone could write me a list, or take screenshots of their AsusMemoPad8 to show me all the apps that was pre-installed on this tablet, so that i can load them back to be able to perform the update. ...hoping it will solve this issue so i can update it, to then start making a rom for this one..
question..maybe..: what else could cause this kind of error while an update?
..i hope someone will be able to help me out on this one :highfive:
thanks!

You're lucky if that will really fix the issue and you don't need to reinstall full rom

its worth the try and beside, there's a huge chance that it will solve it, since i dont see any other reason why the update wont install completly.
. its still 100% fonctionnal..just wont finish the update..
..i surely hope someone will be able to help me by telling me all the apps that came with this tab, so that i can atleast try to put them back to see if it will allow the update to finish..:highfive:
..no-one?..
..i just want to update the device.. perhaps someone have another theory for why it wont update the kernel?
