Hi,
I've got a magic from TIM but i'm leaving in belgium. I'm running MyHero 2.0.5
By two times, my handset requested me to reboot my phone for a 'system update'. Both attempt failed.
The phone reboots then an icon representing a package update then a a failure sign. The only way to get back the phone was to remove the battery.
My question:
Where can i find the package that android tries to install....is there a log somewhere where the failure is reported ?
Thanks
Ced
If you're running a custom rom and trying to install an OTA it isn't going to work. The OTA is only compatible with the stock OS. If you have root and manage to get an OTA to install then you will lose it. I'd say to just ignore the updates. If your phone is working the way you want it then I would leave it as is. If you want anything different then you'll need to flash something!
Hello everybody, before all, I hope there isn't a thread already with this topic, if there is, my apologies.
I have an european (ww) stock rom Transformer on 3.1, I did the first update (3.0 to 3.1) manualy, it worked great, but now, its been since the 3rd of august (OTA 3.2 release date in France) that I've been waiting for my tranformer to receive the OTA, but it just won't.
I've tried to push the "search for update" button thousand times and reboot it almost everyday since then without result.
Do someone have had the same problem and solve it?
By the way, I don't have the keyboard dock yet; doest it play a role in my problem?
I bought my transformer 2 weeks ago i was in 3.1 and i had the update to 3.2 as soon my tab was connected on wifi. But i have the dock.
Are you sure that you never rooted your tab?
You can also ask asus france on their facebook page.
Yes I'm positive, unless the manual 3.0 to 3.1 update implied to root. But I'm quite sure it doesn't.
Apparently you are only offered the update once, if it fails it wont offer it again unless you delete a certain file
Not sure which one it is, but a factory reset should sort it if you can cope with wiping it
that's the odd thing, I wasn't offered it even once. I will search for the file you mentioned and in last ressort, go for a factory reset. But honestly I would prefer not to go that far. That's why I asked for other solutions.
Tried updated manually? ie downloading update from
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101&p=20&s=16
I've tried it too, I've followed the steps, I've put the "asus" folder on a micro sd card, put it in my transformer, but it did not detect the update, I've tried different ways to put the update folder on the sd card so that the tablet can find the update, but still, it didn't work. I just can't figure out why it doesn't want to update.
Thanks for your clues anyway, I will keep searching for a solution or a way to make this manual update...
If I find the thread with the location of the offending file, I`ll update this thread with it
Thanks, it will be very helpfull

You may already know about this forum, but Im beginning to wonder if the posts I am remembering are infact here
http://www.transformerforums.com
Great place either way
Yes great place indeed, i'll try to find it there
I had a similar issue. The tablet update section said 'There is an update available. Please check notifications'. The search for updates button was therefore greyed out. However, nothing ever appeared in the notifications.
I updated manually in the end. However, the update section remains the same: Telling me there is an update and not allowing me to check for any further updates. I'd really like to get this functionality working again.
OK can you please tell me wich folder did you put on the micro sd card for the tablet to detect the update?
Seagle77 go to settings/applications/manage applications/all and scroll down to DMClient click on it and hit clear data and clear catche if i remember right thats what i cleared when the ota failed to install for the first time, once you clear it u might have to restart but it should show you the ota notifiction after that, hope it helps.

I tried it, but after the reboot, there is still no notification of the OTA and nothing more on the update menu.
Update.zip file you downloaded for manual update should go under /removable/microsd/update.zip try placing it there and seeing if u get the notification after a reset , if not then try booting into stock recovery and starting the update from there using update.zip
I've downloaded a file nammed "UpdateLauncher_WW_epaduser8659.zip" on asus website. Do I have to rename it before put it on the micro sd card, or leave it like this?
Ok, problem solved here, someone told me to check the update version on "transformerforum", and the origin of the bug was my first manual update, were I used the US update, istead of WW version.
Therefore, I just needed to update with the US 3.2 file and it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help given here. Have a good one everybody
Enjoy 3.2 !
Hello, I am currently on 2.2 on my g2 and i think my phone automatically downloaded the new update for it but hasnt installed it. It pops up every 20 minutes asking to install now, install later, or more info. Im wondering if anybody knows the location of where the update might be downloaded to? I want to delete it so it stops asking me. I have it rooted also.
hi everyone!
i need help for fixing a small issue i have now that i have rooted my Asus Memo Pad 8..
problem: i rooted my tablet, then i used Clean master (or something like that..) to delete some pre-installed apps like zinio, maps, etc.. but i realize now that i shouldnt have done that!..well..not yet anyway!..
because, when i scan for updates, it finds one, so i try to update, it download the 27MB update, then i tap to install it, so the device reboots, then i see the Android guy installing the update..then i see it on his back with ''error'' ...
...i'm pretty sure the reason the update fails is because of the deleted/missing apps that the update may be looking for, to update..:silly:
what i need: i would love if someone could write me a list, or take screenshots of their AsusMemoPad8 to show me all the apps that was pre-installed on this tablet, so that i can load them back to be able to perform the update. ...hoping it will solve this issue so i can update it, to then start making a rom for this one..
question..maybe..: what else could cause this kind of error while an update?
..i hope someone will be able to help me out on this one :highfive:
thanks!

You're lucky if that will really fix the issue and you don't need to reinstall full rom

its worth the try and beside, there's a huge chance that it will solve it, since i dont see any other reason why the update wont install completly.
. its still 100% fonctionnal..just wont finish the update..
..i surely hope someone will be able to help me by telling me all the apps that came with this tab, so that i can atleast try to put them back to see if it will allow the update to finish..:highfive:
..no-one?..
..i just want to update the device.. perhaps someone have another theory for why it wont update the kernel?
Hello,
I have a Nexus 5 and installed Android 6.0 OTA and I rooted the phone. I recently got a notice for Android system update (2.5MB) and I have a problem with the update I suppose because of that root.
Update gets downloaded, the device restarts and then on the screen I get an error.
Does anyone know what the problem is and how to make the update?
Thanks!
Yes, I think a great number of people know the answer... I had to ask the same question myself a long time ago.
Since Android 5 (I think) the OTA process looks at the entire system for any changes to the ROM partitions, and it will update only if the ROM is intact and unchanged. Root changes the ROM, therefore no update.
I believe that you can update manually by flashing just the system partition, but you'll then have to re-root the phone.
It was precisely for this reason that I got fed up with root, despite its many advantages, and now run encrypted, unrooted, and with Netguard firewall protecting at least some of my privacy.

u should update before making any changes in the system folder or to the recovery.
You should not take the OTA updates while rooted.
One solution would be to download the factory image for the update and fastboot flash system.img from the download, wipe cache, then reinstall supersu.
