[Q] Need a little help please restoring to factory settings - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I have a LG optimus 7 and I have updated to mango, now I must do a factory restore because I want to change my main windows live account, I would like to know if there is any risk involved if I do the factory reset and also if after factory reset I must update again to mango. Thank you.
Alex

On your phone, go to:
settings > about > reset your phone

If you do a factory reset (NOT a firmware flash) you'll still be on Mango and won't need to update again.

Remember, this wipes out all you music, pix, etc and the apps you loaded so have them synced/backed up (not the apps but remember which ones so you can reinstall). If you purchased apps and use a different Windows Live ID you will have to purchase them again.

[Q] Reset to default question

Hey,
If I go into settings and select to reset data I need to know two things.
Will I:
1) Loose root?
2) Still be running version 2.3.3 since I am just doing a factory reset?
3) Provided to above are fine, the whole reason I doing this is because I some how lost the Accounts and Sync option from settings, will that be there upon return?
On the other hand, does anyone know how I can add back Accounts and Sync? Or where it may be hiding. I tried using Titanium to restore that App but it did nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
did you reboot after, and try restoring other apps
the preinstalled apps are sometimes connected to each other, remove one, and another stops working correctly

you will stay 2.3.3
you will be rooted but may lose superuser, just get it from market

i think you need to sbf use Gingerbread Full SBF 4.5.608

you should be able to do a factory reset, that should solve your problem but you will lose all data and apps that you had installed In order to save your contacts, messages etc, its best to make backup first, you can download My Phone explorer to your PC and client to phone from google play store to backup everything before factory reset or flashing stock ROM
Factory reset is normally done by going into settings> privacy > factory reset. or it may be located in an another location in settings.
or you can follow this and flash a stock kernel to solve your problem

Flashing same ROM using ODIN deletes user data?

I received the OTA update a couple weeks ago and it installed "N920VVRU3CQB9" (Nougat update). I'm having few issues with the phone where I'm stuck at the login screen with no keyboard (full details here).
My question is - if I flash the same ROM using ODIN, does it wipe all user data (pictures, videos etc)? After flashing the same ROM, does it get stuck in boot loop as it requires going into the recovery mode and selecting "wipe data/factory reset" which deletes everything.
Thank you.

If you flash that it usually does but there's no point in doing that because a factory reset does the same exact thing.. If you're going to flash anything at all or do anything at all to the phone then ENABLE oem unlock in developer options!!
Thank you MrMike2182. If flashing the same ROM as OTA will cause a factory reset. I would lose all my data, right? Is there any way to keep the data?

It depends on what you're trying to do.. When you do an upgrade it preserves your stuff. When you do a downgrade it tends to need a factory reset in order to work.. What I would do in your case is use Smart Switch from Samsung and backup the entire phone and even send any important documents to your computer and do a factory reset anyway that way it's a fresh system install and doesn't have any junk left over from all the other updates and whatnot and then after the factory reset is done just hook the phone back up to Smart Switch on your Windows PC and click restore.. It can pretty much put everything back including apps, music, contacts, documents, home screen theme etc etc. Works pretty good if you ask me.
Do NOT forget to enable OEM unlock!! Seriously.

Mi pad 5

i bought the CN version which arrived this week and i dont want to dabble with anything - it has a global version rom so ideally i want to sell this now as id prefer a pucker rom. if i factory reset this tablet what will happen will the global rom remain ? or will it go to something else ?
or is there an easy way to delete all my info like removing my google account perhaps ?
sorry ive not got a clue on these things
A Factory Reset - as its name implies - simlply resets the tablet to state as it was when it got shipped by manufacturer, means all user-data get removed, system apps if they in the meantime got updated get reset to their initial version.
Ok so I don't to do that just want to remove my Google play account and delete history and apps
No it's fine, there isn't an old ROM stored on your device. Factory Reset will only strip the OS back to stock. No risk of it "reverting" back to CN ROM
