Browser doesn't work - Thunderbolt General

I was Rom shopping and noticed my browser stopped working. I am currently running Blackhole 2.0 but have this problem with any rom I run or if I just go back to he original back up of root. I am using the MR 2 radio and everything is working great.
So I get 4g (LTE) speeds with the hotspot, I can access facebook and pop3 mail, so I know the internet is working
Whenever I use the search or go directly to the browser it won't load a page. The green status bar starts to fill in but just stops and hangs. Sometimes but very rarely if i go to book marks it will load a page but it's super slow and completly un usable.
When I install my roms I do a full wipe
My speed test (Via hotspot) is 19.11Mbps

this is not a development post and belongs in the Q&A section.
However there have been several posts about problems with verizon's DNS servers over the last couple of days. download dns fix from the market and change your DNS to google.

Skyfire Problems

Hi, i got a massive problem with the new skyfire version for winmob.
Everytime I start this fu...ng browser it uses the GPRS connection without any questions!!
one of my first steps was to disable the date connection on my HTC HD2, even with bsb tweaks, but nothing helps in this case. the other bad news is that this bull**** of app has got only one configuration possibility -> delete cookies, nothing else..not even a default connection type etc.
has someone tried this this browser or got some solution for my problem?
thanks
Uses GPRS connection before asking? What are you wanting it to do?
Mine works fine if I have 3G it uses that if not GPRS if WiFi is connected it uses that. I don't see a problem.
Or are you after an Opera Mini like experience where you get asked before it connects to the internet? For me this seems utterly pointless seen as the ONLY reason I can think of for you to open a browser is to go to the internet?
Am I missing something?
If Skyfire can sort out their scroll lag it would be hands down the best winmo browser on the market in my opinion.
try this.
- uninstall skyfire
- turn off gprs or set connection to my ISP
- turn on WIFI
- install and launch skyfire
Very good player, no question but I just payed 15€ without knowin´about this for being connected by GPRS :-(
my problem is that I got Wifi but it still connects to GPRS without any permission.
And yes the scroll lag is pretty bad, but also the zoom opertion with this smal window.but it´s the first version. waiting for update
just as a thought...
When I'm using WiFi I run through the following in order to be sure that it will use WiFi not mobile web.
1. Go to settings > Wireless settings and turn on WiFi
2. Wait for the WiFi to be fully connected (important!)
3. Turn off the data connection
4. Start whatever app you intended to use
I've even had opera trying to use mobile web when I've got WiFi on so this is how I ensure it.doesn't end up using it. Hopefully this will work for you and skyfire too.
cheers,
prime.

[Issue] Bowser stops using data connection

This isn't a lag problem. It doesn't matter if I use stock browser or Dolphin...but when surfing the internet about after 5 pages the browsers will stop using the data connection. It doesn't matter if it's 3g or wifi. The browsers will still work, they aren't frozen. They just won't load any web pages...no matter what web pages they are. I won't get a dead link web page message, I'll just get a white screen as it is trying to load a web page. Only a reboot fixes this. Any ideas what is wrong?

Bowser is using your phone?!?!?!
No seriously though, have you tried Opera? Dolphin uses the same core as the stock browser and I had this issue quite often on some of Morfic's kernels but using Opera the problem went away.
ok, i'll try opera. i had this problem both with trinity and netarchy kernels.
thanks.

Hello, I have recently started having the same issues with my F6 not being able to load any background data as well. I believe your solution can lye within the apps that are being used. I Use a stock ROM too for my phone as there are no others out yet for it, and so, I also use ROM toolbox. This morning i could not for the life of me remember what i was doing to make the phone function this way, but remembered that i was dabbling with the DNS and server operations on ROM toolbox the night prier. I was a bit frustrated that there was no easy answer posted anywhere online (google) and had to figure it out myself.. (not so bad) . and since i have been constantly figuring out my ROMS abilities on STOCK I have acquired much knowledge for the F6 root and recover operations. IF you are having problems with any data being transmitted between apps and have been disabling ads through ROM toolbox be sure to make the right changes. For when you wake up to having no data app connection and your clearly connected to the internet it can become jarring.
hope this helps

Nexus 5 - Internet connectivity resticted after root

Greetings everyone. I've recently came across the following problem with my Nexus 5 with stock Android 6 (Marshmallow). The same situation was happening with the previous release (MRA58K) and with the current one (MRA58N). The former was rooted using Nexus Root Toolkig. The latter - using phh's method (his boot image and superuser app).
The problem is as follows - Internet connectivity is restricted. The signal icon appears with an exclamation mark "!" next to it. When is use apps such as Facebook, Youtube, or Google Play, everything works fine. When I use other apps (mostly Chrome browser), the pages don't load. I was restarting the radio (using Hidden Setting app), I was trying to search for the network and switch between them, I was checking my APN settings - everything seemed to be fine, yet the problem with the Internet remained. What is more, the same things was happening after switching to WiFi.
I recently rooted my MRA58N with phh's method (because flashing the custom recovery and than the latest Chainfire 2.52 SU caused bootloops).
Has any of you encountered such a problem?
The new Nexus Root Toolkit 2.1.0 succeeded to root the device (no bootloop this time, hurray). Yet, unfortunately, I have the Internet connectivity problems again. Any help?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue on a rooted BLU cell phone with marshmallow 6.0.

Where did you find this setting, and we're you able to restart it? Did that fix it?

Same thing with mine... Connectivity is limited whether I'm on mobile data network or wifi.

Google Pixel WiFi Problem (Fails to download videos, apps, etc. and goes offline)

Hi,
Wondering if anyone has run into the following issue with their Pixel. My phone is an international model (G-2PW4200) and I bought it exactly a month ago.
The issue is this: I seem to never be able to download any decent size file (e.g. a video on social media sites or apps like Facebook, YouTube, Whatsapp, etc., or to download any app on the Google Play store) via WiFi without the download getting "stuck" half way, sometimes not even at 10%. The download would get stuck indefinitely, and only resume once I disable WiFi and start downloading via LTE. Sometimes it also comes back if I just disable WiFi and enable it again. Another problem I have is that my phone seems to go offline when it's not being used for extended periods of time (that being in the 5-10 minute range given I look at it almost every 10 minutes) despite having WiFi during sleep set to be always on. I can tell this because when I try to log in to something like Whatsapp Web it complains that my phone is offline, and this is a problem that never happened with me with my previous phone in the same setting.
A few points to keep in mind:
1- I have "Keep WiFi on during Sleep" set to "Always"
2- This happens everywhere (at home, work, friends', public WiFi, etc.) so it's not related to just my router's setup, and it happens every single day and almost every single time.
4- System is "up to date" and I have the latest update installed (Android 7.1.1, build NOF26V)
3- I'm still able to browse web pages (via Chrome), and browse apps like Facebook, Whatsapp, etc. without getting interruptions or showing any signs of disconnect. It's only the above two issues that I see when downloading big chunks of data, and for some reason my phone appearing to be offline during sleep when it shouldn't be.
Any idea what may be wrong here and how I can fix this? I really would like to keep this phone, but this is really becoming frustrating.
Thanks.

Yes. And ironically enough I ran into the same problem immediately while restoring my backup as the phone was trying to redownload the previously installed apps. It would get stuck not downloading anything but not complain about a lost connection until I disable WiFi and switch to cellular data.
This reminded me that the first time I ran into the problem was also the very first time I used the phone when also downloading my apps.

can you test your wifi performance with another device?
and also try some download manager like ADM and check download with it.

Given that this happens everywhere, not just with my home WiFi, I know the issue is specific to my Pixel. Unfortunately no one at work has a Pixel to try it, but all other devices connected to the same WiFi spots are fine.
I was told by someone that disabling LTE and sticking to 3G cellular data will fix my WiFi issues. Will be trying that at work today.
