thanks sort of figure it out just!
you know you should use the search button instead of just posting a new thread. maybe you just got your phone and you want to learn everything about it but you are making it harder to reach information. same question is replied several times before if you do a search which is very very easy you can find the answer. that is the point of forums. you search first and if you can not find the answer despite your search then you post a thread. this sensation forum is becoming useless because people are just posting without searching and it is becoming a garbage forum.

New to Android, want to set up rooted stock ROM, S-OFF. Looking through the steps, trying to verify one step at a time. Saw a post of how to verify root status by booting to the HROOT screen. All directions say hold down PWR and VOLDN at the same time, but I keep comiing up in regular Android 2.2 mode. Tried every sequence of when to release each key (together, PWR first, VOLDN first); no difference. Sorry for such a simple, basic question.
Found the answer
Found it, so I'll leave here for someone else's search to find. The deal is that the start (PWR+VOLDN) has to be from a cold boot, so yank the battery, reinstall, the PWR+VOLDN and you get the HBOOT screen.
Geez, 45 views and nobody knew that?
thanks
thanks for leaving it, I had the same problem.. pulling the battery worked. I thought that shutting it down would have the same effect.. didn't.
I thank you as well
The Inspire was a little trickier to root than my HTC HT2 Leo, but so far it's been more stable. I really wanted to access HBOOT so I could update my radio, but I had completely forgotten how to get into HBOOT. Volume up + Power led to black screen and a flashing power led (IE nothing) and I started to panic. A quick soft reset and using your quick reminder allowed me to easily go directly into HBOOT and it automatically detected the update I wanted to add. Thanks much!
Hello XDA.
This is my first thread. Therefore I apologise in advance for my english and sorry if there is a similar thread, but I couldn't find it.
So i've got my Sensation few weeks ago. Everything worked fine, until today. The problem is, that, when I push the home button the phone takes (sometimes) a screenshot. My phone is not rooted, and is S-ON. Can somebody help me with this issue, how to fix this? Respectively, what could be the cause of this problem? I ran a scan with my lookout and AVG, but it didn't find any viruses.
Thank you very much in advance and I apologise, if I put the threat in a wrong section.
Best regards
Have you upadated to android 2.3.4?... If you did, then it's the update bug... A lot of people are experiencing that after the update.. i will suggest for you to disable your haptic feedback, this might solve the issue...hope it helps...

I don't think its a bug. It's a feature. If you tap your power button, it puts you in screenshot mode. In screenshot mode you press the home key to take a screenshot.
To turn it off, tap the power button again.
So basically you tapped it instead of pushing it before you hit home and that is your problem.

EDIT:
Mine was staying in camera mode after doing the power + home but now it just takes one screenshot and it doesn't stay in the mode. To get out if its stuck you just tap your power button once and home will work again.
If you press power quick, then home before it sleeps, you get a screenshot. New feature after the update.
It seems that it is really a feature. Just don't know exactly how to turn it on. Sometimes the tap is working, sometimes not. Anyway thanks a lot it was a really big help from you!
EDIT: now I get it. Holding the power button down and taping the home button at the same time, will do the screenshot. Great!

Essentially, I can't figure out how to get into my bootloader easily without doing the old rip the battery out thing. My last AOSP ROM could do it simply from the power menu, and I'm trying to find an easier way of doing it now, but just can't find the option.
Tips?
Many thanks, XDA.

Hi,
Firstly,go to settings/power and make sure fastboot is unticked.
If you have ARHD,then you must have 4EXT.
Open the app and press "Power Menu".
This will give you a choice of things to do.
If you don't have 4EXT,then I suggest you get it.
Otherwise ,you can hold the power button, and it should give you the option to power down.
When you have done that, then power on whilst holding the "-" volume button,
and it should take you into bootloader.
Perfect!
Thanks a bunch Sir! Happy New Years to you!

Important: The Fast boot option in Settings > Power must not be selected.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
htc one max hard reset
but "The Fast boot option in Settings > Power must not be selected"
do a trick
first press and hold power button then do restart wile restarting hold the volume down button you will reach in to boot loader

Hi,
As far as I've ever known, a factory reset, or reflashing your stock or custom rom is the only way to get into the device now. That's exactly what the password is for, so no one can access your data. So any option to bypass the password involves wiping your data completely.
Sorry, but that's how it works by design.
Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.
Hello everybody! I hope i post this in the right place. I need help quick cause my phone went crazy. I just closed fb messenger app and the phone (Nexus 5) just restarted, and it did a boot loop. I was scared and i tried to enter bootloader mode. I did but it restarted from the bootloader and tried to boot, i saw the boot image of my Kali Nethunter android but it looped again. I want to tell you that i can't power on my phone now only if it is charging, and when is charging is doing the boot loop thing. Do you think my battery is gone? Or is a software problem? As i said above, i have Kali Nethunter 3.0. I hope is not a big problem, please help as soon as you can. Thank you really much!
I hope you understand my english, if you need i can give more details if you didn;t understand.
This seems to be known issue with power button (read from link below). Do not try to flash.
Short term fix: pressing the power button hard will work some times. But long term fix will be getting it replaced. Trace the issue to power by following the link below and then get it replaced.
