new spb 3d in landscape, look this video. - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

while i am waiting for honeycomb for my tab, playing
a little bit with the spb shell 3d v1.2 . is it not beautifull?
may someone bring it to the honeycomb dev thread?
perhaps the video put a smile into the face of the visitors
there.

err, isnt this $10 in the market?

Edit : wahoooooooo misunderstand i thought its the app

Its just a video not the program. Looks nice but not sure it works on a tablet.

I purchased this app on market but i must say the customization is quite limited like widget resizing, but it works decent though.

Is this thread just to show that SPB does landscape?
Not sure I understand your comment about the honeycomb thread..

I really have activated the three times yesterday, having to reboot, did not answer the Task manager: mad: and so given the partner who is not customizable. Frankly I prefer a hundred times The Pro Launcher.

This new version of spb shell is the latest, v1.2, which is a tablet version and now supports landscape orientation. The previous versions (1.0 to 1.1.3) are all in portrait mode.
The customizations are really limited (you cannot even resize the widgets), but to be able to browse through your homescreens in that amazing 3d effect is something that no other launcher has done before! Imho, the 14$ is all worth it.

Also, the previous versions lag like crazy in my tab! But this new one is fast and smooth; its speed even comparable to those of launchers we have come to love, like launcherpro adw and vtl.

$5 maybe.probably even. But $14? Nope.overpriced.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

I agree. For this price, no 3D effect is going to cut it.
I'd expect this price from some complex office / productivity application designed SPECIFICALLY for the tab. That means complete optimization and layout given the hardware and so on.
As this is not the case, I'll stick to ADW Ex. Achieves exponentially more at a decent price.
Looks ok, though. I guess it's a memory hog when running full speed...

I've been watching the Ram and while the other launchers do not appear, the SPB shell running with 116mb appears !!!!!!

I like SPB shell, but it crashes all the time in my Mesmerize, and there is a lot of green and red in it, the pictures get blurred when I spin it and the icons are too small. Still needs a lot of work.

Has anyone tried SPB Shell 3D on G2X? It looks really nice

Hi,
Ive just come across SPB Shell 3D and although it costs $15 or something on the market it seems really nice. Has anyone tried it on their G2X?
Nah. Not because I have a problem spending $15 on a quality app but because it would remind me of the horrors I put up with in the WINMO days.
I liked it, but right now there isn't enough customization to justify the price. The widgets are nice, but it's mostly eye candy. I went back to LauncherPro.
I'm using and I really like it. I think it's actually alot more customizable than people think but it all depends on what type of customizations you want. I like widgets and SPB has the best widgets I've seen since Sense.
I use SPB and Widgetsoid to my homes. I will also add that since doing the root and freeze I have a near perfect G2X. I also use the FlexT9 keyboard which resolved the keyboard lag issue.

I would say get Launcher Pro Plus. It it has a cube effect for the different screens kinda like the 3D effect in the app draw (that comes with it as well) it will bend an entire screen.

SPB Shell

Been playing around with different launchers, can't stand TouchWiz, and tried out SPB Shell... Works flawlessly on the Infuse, fast and smooth as butter - love it! Lots of eye candy and some pretty cool widgets too. Everything looks great on that big screen!
It's a little pricey, but IMO worth it!
ADW
Ive been using adw for the atrix and now for the infuse, dont know that it gets any better than that. The infuse runs the animations and transitions perfectly!
I'm using Launcher Pro.. Love it.. The latest version is pretty sweet..
im not a fan of spb. but the others are good. there is also go launcher and zeam launcher.
i personally dont mind cheaze wiz, and things like kies and a few widgets dont work without it running.. i prefer to use gtg465x's launchers, he made some for the captivate and i9000 with a 5-icon dock if you dont like the 4icon dock.
Running Sony arc from cont.5.5 on captivate ..speed the phone up more and more available ram..plus its cleaner looking.
sent from Infuse but miss my captivate on cont. 5.5.... One day this can be as good...
Can you share the sony arc launcher apk? I'm a huge fan of that launcher from continuum 5.5 also. Thanks
Found it. Thnx

Spb is like a corvette, not very practical imo. Something You want to show off with.
ADW is my daily driver...
Are the others a lot better than Go Launcher EX?
No one uses Go Launcher EX? I'm fairly new to Android phones (had/have an Archos 5IT Android which is still running their version of donut, but with market and some other hacks), so I just picked the first free launcher I found. So far I really like it. The themes are OK and the customization seems as good as any and it's pretty full featured. Everything they release for it is free, though some 3rd party add-on are paid. I don't know anything about ADW or LPro, but I'm an app addict so I'm sure I'll tinker around with those sometime soon.
What are the best or your favorite features of ADW or Launcher Pro?
Thanks!
Go Launcher EX is very good, almost too good... with their many free widgets. I wonder if they are spying on me.

I've been using Spb as a daily driver for months and it's great for me. Yeah I do show off with it at times but it is a good launcher. Launcher pro was my daily driver for almost a year.
Just out of curiosity... How is SPB Shell and battery life? doesn't drain it more than it used to before spb shell, drains more, or drains less?
With Spb shell 3d I didn't notice much difference with battery life compared to others I've used but I would notice that under heavy loads of use that it would become laggy or restart itself. That gets annoying after a while because it takes a while like 2 minutes sometimes to start. Its a nice launcher but I've put it aside for now and I'm using the Sony Ericsson launcher now which is a lot quicker.

ADW is my favorite. Quick and customized to my liking.

i bought spb but didn't like the fact i had to look at someone else's flicker photos so now i'm on laucher ex. it allows for 3d rotation and i've got a page with my photos on widget.

TSF shell (many screenshots)

I am using it now, although it may have a lot of UI effects, but amazingly all the effects are buttery smooth, no lags at all on my Note. It is easily the smoothest launcher I ever used (I have Go, ADW and the stock Touchwhiz).
However the price is high, and a few functions still not available now, but I'm sure they will be added in future updated (they need cash urgently to keep the project alive, I think)
When this is fully done, it will be the best launcher on the market ^^
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tsf.shell#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDIxMiwiY29tLnRzZi5zaGVsbCJd
I was looking forward to it but the price tag put me off and if u take a screen shot and zoom in on the icons u will notice that the icons are lower resolution then for example stock launcher.
And if you for example take and place the Box widget on both TSF shell and on the TW home screen u will se that even the widget have some kind of lesser image quality on the TSF home screen. I have no idea why, But the white backgroud isnt as sharp and detailed on the TSF launcher compare to TW. And on the top blue color on the widget u can see stripes in the color and in TW there are no stripes. I dont know if it has something to do with color depth or something.
This occur on version 1.2
There is a thread about it already with plenty of feedback from all the peeps that have trying it

Strange, it says that my device is incompatible.
I installed it on mine yesterday. I must say this is the best launcher I have ever seen and just amazingly "smooth". I mean no lag at all. I tried tons of launchers on my note but nothing come close to these. So powerful! Rotate icons anywhere, the sticky note is also bad ass. Flexible! I captured a short clip last night while I was playing with it. Still trying to figure some other features.

Its something that modifies the Android framework, so it cannot be a regular app. It has to be cooked into the ROM by the developer in order to be used. It's also incredibly unstable and is renown for breaking root access while open. The kinks are being worked out...

Thanks for the tip!
I just installed this app, and wow! I wasn't even sure I had any use for it, but after a couple minutes I was enjoying the heck out of it. I usually use the desktop view in my regular browser (Dolphin), so I'll just keep this one in mobile view and use it for quickly checking out links without switching away from Tweetdeck or whatever I'm in. In fact, it's awesome to be able to click a link, start that page loading, and then continue browsing through tweets or posts while the page/video/whatever is loading in the Overskreen window.
It's very smooth, too; almost too responsive, if that's possible. I'm impressed.
The one down side is lack of flash support in Android 2.x. However, 3.0 and 4.0 are supported, so that shouldn't be an issue for much longer. If I need to visit a flash site, I can just jump over to Dolphin anyway.

another update today. .with sliding tabs. . this is becoming my favorite browser and overall app. .
Thanks for letting us know about this, I installed it without knowing if it was something I would use but on first run I saw many benefits, especially on a large screen device like the Note.
I particularly liked the fact you can view YouTube vids full screen then scale the browser window to whatever size you want, then maybe have a cool tutorial video in the corner as you work on the app underneath!
It was a bit pricey but I think in this case it was worth it.

Put apps without a grid

Wierd question. Any way to put apps on my home screen with no grid? Just drag and drop like on a computer. I am an avid homsecreen customizer but I have no idea how to do this
Sent from my One X using xda premium
pretty sure you cant. there would have to be an option for the homescreen setting to align the icons to the grid like on a computer and when you uncheck it, it would allow you to place icons on your homescreen as you please. i dont know of any launcher that has had this option built into or if there is a way around it. a mod would have to either make a launcher with this option or customize an existing one to do so. hope my assumption is right, and is so i hope this helps your question.
PCs also have start screen grids. Not sure what you are asking.

You can turn that off though and have total desktop anarchy (Right click -> View -> Align icons to grid
Also, I don't think it would be feasible to not have a grid system on Android. Widgets must know how large/small to draw themselves and without a set grid I think they would just choke and die.
I know at some point, there was a launcher that had *less* of a grid. Not completely none, but a little less. Not positive if this is the one, and I'm about to flash a new ROM so I can't test right now.
But it *may* have been SSLauncher. If I remember what it was for sure, I'll try to let you know
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher&hl=en
EDIT: Accidentally quoted the poster above me lol
EDIT 2: Also this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEwNCwiY29tLmFwcHMuYW55d2hlcmUuZnJlZSJd
appears (based off description, once again I haven't tested sorry) to be a widget that allows you to place app shortcuts wherever on top of it. Or something. Haha, I don't know.
TSF Shell has this functionality. IIRC you can place an unlimited number of icons in any arrangement you want, including overlapping other icons and widgets. It's actually a half decent launcher (after some recent updates), albeit gimmicky at times.
The only issue is the fact that you'll have to pony up a measly (read: ridiculous) $17.

Ah! that's the one! Haha, I never used it, but I knew it existed. I knew it was one of the letterLaunchers. Thanks dude.
I would like to see the grid spacing more compact atleast. It only allows 4x4 right now. I think it could be bumped up to 6x6 maybe.
Have you ever tried Lightning Launcher?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pierrox.lightning_launcher
It can do what you're describing and more. I have to warn you, though: its concept is a little different than the traditional android launcher, so it may take you a little time to get a hang of it and customize it to your liking. However, it is very, and I mean VERY, customizable. In addition, is very light-weight and fast, even on a low-end device (hence the name Lightning Launcher), so the HOX would think it's a feather.
I used to run it a while ago, but I'm back on Apex Launcher now to complement my AOKP ROM experience. I don't really mind the traditional grid layout. Who knows, I might come back to it that's just the beauty of Android!
Give it a try if you want!
