Does anyone know if 2.2.2 froyo works with the new baseband?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Yes it does and its amazing. Fixed all the issues I had with the phone (gps locks, random dropouts during calls, lack of data connectivity). And...for the cherry on the top, I get the LG camera app back. I like GB and all but I think I'll stick with Froyo.

I need help because my GPS wont lock... I've tried the G2X bloater and installed my region but it still wont lock even after 5 minutes.
EDIT: I'm on Faux's AOSP Rom with his kernel as well.
Do you have the newest baseband? That helped me lock much better.

Just curious if under Settings > Location and Security do you have Use Wireless Networks enabled?

What's the easiest way to install that? Do you have to flash official gb?

I'm not familiar with your ROMs, however, I find it helps to have an unobscured view of the horizon in most directions and to not be moving in a car. If that fails, I then use an app called GPS Test by Chartcross Ltd. Go into settings and there are two buttons on the top labeled: Clear AGPS and Update AGPS. Try each of the two buttons.
I just looked up AGPS and here's what Wikipedia has to say, "Assisted GPS, generally abbreviated as A-GPS or aGPS, is a system which can, under certain conditions, improve the startup performance, or time-to-first-fix (TTFF) of a GPS satellite-based positioning system." Hope this helps.

the only way to install the new baseband is by using lgupdate tool, or kdz firmware updater along with the kdz file. try the lgupdate tool first. there are numerous threads explaining the process, which for some is a one click success story. for others, a walk through programming hell. the lgupdate tool is plagued.
Alright thanks everyone. I AM on the newest baseband, but am trying cm7 now

Let us know if this fixes your GPS. My GPS sucks taint too, and will upgrade the baseband if it fixes it, but don't want to risk the possible PITA using the LG tool if it doesn't fix it. Everything else other than battery life is amazing on my phone.

I can tell you that its instant locks on stock froyo.
I didn't get instant lock on gb with new baseband. On froyo is super reliable.

GPS
I have to reboot my phone to get the GPS to lock about half the time I try to navigate since upgrading to Gingerbread. I have the new baseband. It sucks. I complained again and they finally agreed to ship me a new phone. Not sure that will help anything...
Download from app market gps test, then after you run the gps test go to setings and hit clear agps and also update agps then it should lock under 15 seconds

The lg update tool worked without a problem for me and the new baseband fixed the gps completely.
Complete success with no problems at all.

Hi
Just wanted to know.... since I am dropping calls so often, can that be ROM-related? Or does that have nothing to do with that?
Because if there is even a slight chance that it is ROM-related, than I will go back to STOCK
Running WeaponG2x right now
I have had signal problems on every Rom I've tried.

Doesn't this make you want to sell this phone and get a different one?
I found that cm7 based roms seemed to not switch towers as quickly as stock roms.might just be my device though. I get notably fewer dropped data connections on tsugi.

Me too.
Yes, but I broke my screen and have been too poor to fix it to resell. LoL
I have had the same experience so far.
I've not had any dropped calls on any roms I've tried. Currently on Tsugi and even wifi calling is working.
My signal everywhere but home is at least 3/4 bars and I always have 4g speeds >3mbps down.
I live in central Florida, Polk County.
The G2X just seems to be a little bit less robust in low signal situations.... so you will only have a problem in marginal areas usually...
Now I just discovered something odd with mine... If I set to WCDMA only, and force 4G signal, I don't seem to lose signal at all in my apartment. When I had it on WCDMA preferred, it would constantly switch between 4G and 2G modes, and I'd lose signal frequently, even if I was on a call... so it seems to me the problem may actually be in the switching between GSM and WCDMA.... Or just with GSM... need to do further experimentation.
I live in the middle of Orlando, so I really don't think that's considered a marginal area for a signal. Tmo said there was a tower not that far from my house too. I'll have to try the forcing it to 4g next time I am out and about and see how that works... Thanks for the suggestion lotherius.
Hey guys I just recently got a samsung t959v as a replacement to my nexus one that got its screen cracked. So far I am loving the phone and had no problems with it. I recently updated it using the Kies mini software and updated the phone to 2.3.6. After updating, I rooted the phone using superoneclick and everything worked out perfectly. The only thing I have noticed is that my signal bars are now always empty. I have the 4G symbol on green, however the bars next to it have not turned green at all. I am signed in to google talk so I know it is not the grey/green signal issue. Before updating and rooting I always had FULL 4G signal here throughout my apartment and throughout the city. Anyone know what the problem could be? Everything seems to be working fine using the network however it is just a little annoying not knowing how strong the signal really is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I also installed setcpu and changed some of the settings, not sure if that has anything to do with this issue....
4g and"the bars" are two different signals. Cell it's used for calls when not connect to wifi and for SMS. 4g is your data: internet,g talk, market, and most everything else. if your not experiencing issues I wouldn't worry about it. Set ovum doesn't have anything to do with this but here we have found tegrak paid to be more stable for oc/uv.

that is a UI bug with the stock firmware.
Don't worry.
Flash AOSP style. It will remind you of the N1!
Leave your battery out for 10min and try again
DON'T FORGET TO THANK!!!

Hi everyone
I live in Georgia and have SIM Unlocked G2X , currently running owan's CM9 and Harsh latest OC kernel. My GPS gets a lock after 2+ minutes
I tried my gps.conf file that I was using on my captivate (I was getting instant locks with that conf) and still no go.
I get same performance on both GB and ICS ROM-s
any ideas?
I have same problem. It looks like AGPS on the G2x is broken. I run CM7.
Use bloater to adjust your GPS setups. Also check your build.prop for things pushing GPS signal to the us.

Thanks man, I will try that and write back
When I flash 7.2 stable or any nightly after it, wifi calling quality is AWFUL. It's nearly impossible to understand what the other person is saying due to dropouts and static and such. It kind of sounds like cell calling when you have almost 0 signal (dropouts, distortion). Cell calling works and sounds fine, not wifi calling.
If I flash back to 20120603-NIGHTLY-p999, wifi calling works fine again. And YES, I do have the new March baseband.
I've tried this on multiple wifi networks that I KNOW have plenty of bandwidth, and the results are the same.
Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I'm having the issue as well even more so I'm having issues connecting, if/once it does connect I get static as well.

Yup, I'm on LG-P999-V21y, which I think is the only one that works with the March baseband.
Would RIL affect wifi calling anyway? I assumed RIL only had to do with the cell radio.
I was on 20c for some reason. I just switch hex to 21y hopefully that'll help.

I'll look into it next time I'm at work at that location... It's a College arena with about 10 wi-fi routers all over the place... still Wi-Fi calling at my house where nothing has changed is acting stupid... just takes minutes to connect at times, and if it connects it sounds weird and distorted... I went back to a OTA GB rom and nothing was wrong with wi-fi calling, so i dont know... Thanks for the link though.

stock 7.2 kernel -- it works fine for me, if and only if you
(1) are on 21y baseband
(2) use GetRIL to make sure you have 21y RIL
(3) flash Owain's fix for new baseband
(4) use Trinity ELPmax kernel..
Then it's fan-frickin-tastic.
Otherwise, it works, but you have to reboot all the time to keep it working.
