will the zinio .apk work on one of those crappy chinese tablets? I really want an e-reader but i want the magazines that zinio has to offer. this would be the perfect solution. I have seen some that run on android 2.2, and i would get a 10 inch model.
Can it be done?
Maybe yes. Maybe no. Maybe you should get a Nook.
Sent from a piece of ginger bread... Now with a little cyan tint
no, cuz 7 inch is too small if you want to read magazines. i want to buy a 10 inch model. Please, before i buy one of these tablets, is it possible? i mean, its just an apk so it shouldnt be a problem right?
Nope it shouldnt be
As long as it can be installed normally then it will work
awesome!! ok

Keep in mind that not all Zinio magazines are available on the android app. Also, the Zinio app itself is buggy- In most cases, landscape mode will not work, and will force close. FYI.
MLB has released the at bat app an has enabled live video for the Verizon galaxy tab... Is there anyway to make my AT$T tab think it is a Verizon one or just get the video to work?

I have a nook color and am in a similar boat. It works on my DROID2, but the same APK doesn't do video on the nook color. I have changed the build.prop to a verizon Galaxy Tab, any other ideas?

Would you care to share the apk and how you got it to work?
You have to buy the apk, its the same one for all devices, but something detects the phone it's installed on and disables video. But please share how you got it working.
I have been searching on all forums the same question. I have the samsung epic and looking into live video as well. The .prop file modified does not seem to make a difference and people claim to get it working but they never respond to the question on how they got it to work. ANYONE????
+1 for wanting more info to getting this to work.
I have a Samsung Vibrant 4g for Tmo and it won't work for me since my device isn't listed as a "compatible" device.
Riddle me this MLB, then why is the Nexus S listed??
Not enough MLB game I guess

I'm trying to get a feel with Netflix & Android tablets - and so far - I'm starting to have doubts that it'll ever be available on the Tegra 2 tablet.
My understanding is it's a security - hardware issue - to keep people from stealing / ripping netflix content - that's keeping the barn doors shut. Or perhaps Android has their own plans to monetize Google Movies. But as more time goes by - I'm less optimistic about getting Netflix on an android tablet.
Any thoughts - or is there something recent that I've missed re: Netflix coming out on this tablet - or others in the near future?
Thanks
If it does come to an Android tablet, it'll still be very much SD quality. Look at the iPad.

not sure of resolution or bit rate data on the netflix stream to an ipad, but it's pretty damn good quality on that screen.
i'd love to have it on my transformer... and my fascinate.... but i guess i have it on my xboxes, my ipad, and my X so i cant complain too much.
i'd really like it on the transformer though, especially with the HDMI out.

Tried every way possible and can't get it to work. If someone does get it working I would love to know how. As far as making it to tegra 2 tablets im sure it will make it eventually. NVIDIA has a big presence and it would make their chips more attractive if they had Netflix support.
The evo got it,and as far as i can recall Netflix said it wouldn't since the evo has no dem support on the chip. That apparently changed as they settled for software drm. Recently it was removed when the gingerbread update officially launched for the evo, but prior to that it worked fine on cm7 which is aosp gb. My guess is it will probably come in time.

Not on Tegra 2 Honeycomb devices.
I am really anxious to get it on my tablet as well. But I can wait since I have it on everything else that I own.

It does work on tegra 2 tablets. I have had it working on a viewsonic gtablet for over a month.
Rumors say the Lenovo IdeaPad K1 has Netflix preinstalled.

So the problem is a Honeycomb issue and not a Tegra 2 issue? Then maybe there is hope. Has anyone gotten it working on other Tegra 2 Gingerbread devices?

Yep, had it working on the gtab as well.
I guess the issue here is not the Tegra but the Honeycomb and Netflix.

Xoom has Gingerbread hidden if you up your screen dpi settings, I wonder if it works on it. But seeing how unusable the GB is on the Xoom in that environment I doubt it is of benefit here.
The problem isn't Tegra 2, it's HoneyComb. Netflix simply hasn't gotten around to making a version compatible with HoneyComb.
Let's face it, until the TF came out, the HoneyComb tablet market was tiny.
Netflix is working on many android phones including my Nexus One. In fact the quality is great, especially compared to Slingbox. I think it is just a matter of time before Honeycomb gets Netflix, there are just too many Honycomb/Tegra 2 units being sold for them to loose that market.

Do you still have it working? I am running Vegan Tab rom and have never had it fully functional, use it as a que manager but unable to watch. I have been using a home server software, Playon, for the past 2 years and it works good to watch Netflix. It also gives me access to other content and I can also watch videos that are on my home computer. But I would still like to be able to use the Netflix app.
Netflix worked on my Archos 101. Kind of missing it right now since the TF has no netflix.

Still works on mine. I am using cyanogen mod though.
Well, it's certainly not specific to Honeycomb and Tegra 2. The Samsung Epic, for example, still doesn't have an official Netflix app, and it's neither Honeycomb nor Tegra 2. And I'm sure there are still more Android devices that don't have Netflix than do...

How did you get it to work on TF? Please post up, as I'm anxiously awaiting NF on my TF, as are many others!!!
Has anyone gotten the Amazon Video app to work on their 7+?
I figure since it has the same screen resolution it should work on unrooted tablets unless it just really loves being on Gingerbread.
As a former owner of a Nook Tablet (ditched it for more than 2 points of multitouch on 7+) I know it is not locked onto the Kindle Fire but the Nook Tablet was Gingerbread not Honeycomb so maybe that is the issue.
I am considering purchasing the Tab 2 10.1 and have been reading reviews but haven't come across anything regarding streaming media from the network sites like ABC and CBS. Can anyone tell me how well the Galaxy handles this? I'm also wondering how well the Netflix app runs. Thanks!
Anything you can do on previous Android devices you will be able to do on this tablet. So I would assume that you can.
Well I have a Transformer Prime currently but it constantly reboots when streaming so that's why I'm curious about the Galaxy. Prior to the Prime I had an iPad.
No problems streaming here
I have been able to stream movies from HBO.com, amazon instant videos, and other various websites with no problems... I think as long as you have adobe flash installed it should be fine. I love my new galaxy tab 2 10.1, I was thinking about getting an iPad but am a huge Android OS fan and the new ICS is amazing in tablet form... Its definitely a worth while purchase... I primarily use mine to watch movies and TV either through streaming or downloaded movies and I have no complaints...
Well the netflix app runs flawlessly. It's one of the most used apps on my tab. I haven't streamed through any other apps all though i have installed Hulu and it appears to work as well.
Hulu Plus works great, as does Crackle.

Streaming is the big reason I have ordered Gtab 2 p5113--should be arriving tomorrow. I love my amazon prime videos and can't use it on the "other" device which makes me cranky. Very excited!!
yes, for sure!
And for iptv streams i'm using ITPV application from market
Amazon Prime streams like a champ! Yeah!!
