Hello,
I am very confused as to whether or not it is possible to go from my rooted US Xoom Wifi only running rooted stock 3.1 directly to the Manta Ray rom, or do I go to stock rooted 3.2 first? Whatever the case, could someone link me to the correct procedure? I cannot find something that matches my exact setup, and the Rom's thread is unclear whether I have to update first. Yes, I know, this is probably a noob question, but I am pretty new to rooting in general.
Does anyone how to do this?

Since you're rooted your bootloader is already unlocked
Just flash CWM 3.2.0.0 RC4
Wipe from CWM
Load Tiamat.
It should be that easy.
Ok, so the manta ray package is the whole system image for 3.2? Will it work essentially like an update?
EDIT: Also, just for clarification, I use wipe data/factory reset, and then put the rom on a microSD, then flashing it by doing what, exactly?

If you're downloading the Team Tiamat Mantay Ray 2.0.1 ROM - Yes, it includes everything.
You will boot into CWM recovery 3.2.0.0 RC4, do you have that installed? If not, please flash it first.
Then you flash the rom from CWM itself, after booting into CWM. Have the rom zip package on the flash card.
If you need more explicit instructions, they can be pieced together from the CWM thread and the Tiamat rom thread
Alright, got CWM 3.2.0.0 RC4 installed, now, for the part that scares me..Im gonna flash the Tiamat img now.

Hi, a little confused on how 2 install tiamat on my uk xoom 3g.
Basically I followed this guide and rooted my xoom, i flashed using the boot the op listed. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049901
Ok, now I am looking at tiamat 1.4.1 and it mentions tiamat boot files and tiamat kernels.
My question is this, can I just install tiamat 1.4.1 kernel using CWM on an SDcard, will it work with the boot file i flashed on the site listed above or do I need to flash a tiamat boot file and will this be compatable with the UK 3G XOOM
So confusing.
Anyone please help. Thank you

Use this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013
Download the kernel of your choice and one of the two boot images for Verizon 3G. Reports in the thread say it works just fine for Euro 3G as well.
Put both the new kernel and the boot image on your external SD card. Flash the new boot image and then the new kernel in CWM, then reboot. That is all there is to it.
many thanks thats helped quite a bit, one more thing though, it says boot image is for android 3.1 only, the uk xooms have 3.0.1.
I am looking here http://bigrushmods.com/tiamat.html
to download kernel 1.4.2
and then i just download the 3g boot image below it?
Thank!!!

Ah...yes you would need to upgrade to 3.1 first. Either use one of the methods found in the forum (such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089695) or wait until the Euro upgrade reaches the UK.
Ok, so there is not way I can get taimat on 3.0.1? I have read and people have done this. Just need to find how.
So if I flash just the kernel without the tiamat boot file will that work? Its rooted and unlocked.
:S
sorry for all the questions, just this is so confusing for a new user.
Cheers mate much appreciated

No the kernel is for 3.1. You will need to upgrade to 3.1 first, one way or another.

For instance:
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/motorola-xoom-development/3068-kernel-tiamat-1-4-1-3-0-1-only.html
That version will work on 3.0.1.
So can I flash that version of kernel without the taimat boot file?
Or is there a version of boot file that works on the 3.0.1.
Thanks for helping clearing this up for me.

On the Xoom forum search for tiamat 1.3.1 and follow the instructions for flashing it. That will give you SD support and overclocking with android 3.0.1.
Then if you wish to, flash tiamat 1.4.1 according to instructions on zoom forum.
No new boot image is needed for either, it appears.

Right, i tried flashing the 1.3.1 taimat as suggested and it locked up at dual core screen again.
So i took a stab in the dark and went straight to install the 1.4.1 from micro sd and its working fine, wifi, 3g and its overclocked.
thanks for your help
Sorry to jump into this thread at such a late stage. I have a similar issue in that when I flash the boot.img for the Tiamat 1.3.1 rom, I get stuck at the boot screen (dual core etc).
How did you manage to install 1.4.1 from the micro sd if you are running a kernel that does have sd support yet? What steps did you take?
Thanks

Will try and help here from what i remember.
First follow these instructions to get it working again >
Download his boot and flash - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049901
I then downloaded and flashed clockworkmod.
I then put an sd card in my pc, put the tiamat 1.4.1 file on it, booted into clockworkmod recovery mode and then simply selected the sd card installed the tiamat from there.
Thats the basics of it and to my suprise it worked.
Hope this helps a little, just research clockworkmod and how to install etc.
I found the easiest way was to go to the AU 3.1 first, then root and clockworkmod it, then go to tiamat 1.1 then finally 2.0, then the 2.0.1 update for maps. went very smoothly.
Lordao
I took a guess yesterday and went for it. I ended up using the boot.img from the Tiamat 1.4.0 package. My xoom was happy with this and didn't get stuck at the bootloader screen. Then I installed the rest of the 1.3.1 Rom, then upgraded to 1.4.1. So I am all good on 1.41.
However I'm thinking about applying the 3.1 upgrade and then trying a newer tiamat kernel.
EDIT - I did end up using clockwork recovery. That thing is awesome.
I am currently on rooted 8.4.4.5 rooted with CWM and netflix fix. I want to upgrade to rooted HC 3.2 with CWM and netflix. What is the best course of action?
Do i need to flash to 8.4.4.11 via CWM first?
Then after that there is the brk method or the roach method. Which would cause me less hassle ?
Also can i use the brk method without doing the 8.4.4.11 flash?
I'm not going to do the 8.4.4.11 rooted stock ROM search for you, since that thread is seemingly buried, but I was in the same boat as you (rooted stock 8.4.4.5).
I went ahead and flashed the rooted stock 8.4.4.11 over 8.4.4.5 (going straight to 8.6.5.7 will NOT work - I tried it), then booted. Rebooted back into recovery, then flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198066
After that, I flashed this custom ROM over stock (optional, of course): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154939
All of that I did with simple cache wipe and dalvik wipe. No data wiping and I retained my apps all through it. Oh, and all of it with CWM, of course.
I did find the 8.4.4.11 thread with the patch .zip not the full rom though which should be just fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178607
I also remembered that i have the OC Kernel v16 from Clemsyn-Blades: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202884
Will this kernel be a problem when i upgrade to 3.2 or will it just be wiped with flash to HC 3.2?
I also have the US version and have read that the upgrade to 8.6.5.7 killed their CWM. Im curious if that has been fixed, because i only saw that it was fixed in the WW version. I could probably just use brk's script to install cwm again, if someone can verify that that works...? I forget how i even got cwm on there originally...

I did all the flashing using CWM and it didn't affect CWM at all. Also, don't be surprised if you find your bluetooth isn't working after all this. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192805
^ The exact same issue happened with my TF. That's when I flashed the custom ROM I linked to over stock rooted 3.2, and got BT working again. That ROM already has the Clemsyn kernel included, so I didn't worry about installing the kernel separately.
Ok, I understand the flash part using the 1.9 ROM.
But what I am not clear on is how to do the actual flashing. The last thing I did when I flashed my nook was to make an sd card bootable, copied the rom to the sd card and then rebooted the device.
Same thing here?
If you are flashing from the Stock ROM or anyway, from another ROM, I usually suggest to wait for the NVFlash version.
It really makes the flashing process really really easy...like if you're bringing back your device to Factory setup.
If you want to do it other ways...than i can't help you...i just suggest you to wait the NVflash version...
I have the stock 3.2 now.
So I assume that the NVflash version is currently not available?
You can either use the nvflash tool with a nvflash zip and install a custom recovery and rom or run the rooting tool and install cwm when prompted and then flash a custom rom from cwm. This is NOT like the nook.
All the info you need is in the development threads and is usually contained in the 1st couple of posts

Just check your serial number.
B6Oxxx or less you're good
Some early B7Oxxx is still able to use NVFLash
Later B7Oxxx and newer nothing right now
Before I flash a custom ROM onto my untouched Xoom UK Wi-Fi only how do I backup its current state? At the moment it is on stock 3.1.
How do I flash a custom recovery such as CWM Rogue Recovery v1.1.1 or ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0? Can I just install clockworkmod from the market and flash it from there or does it have to be flashed via fastboot?
Which is the best 3.2 ROM at the moment which has overclocking enabled?
P.S. I've already read many threads and have an idea what to do next but I just want to make sure before I do anything!
Thanks!

By the way, I really love the configuration in my signature. I love everything that Team Tiamat has done, to date. And they are terrific, helpful guys. The Team Rogue are great too, just going in a little different direction, but their kernel works with the Tiamat Rom, in otherwords, they all cooperate and we win.
Here is the deal. Got my wifi only xoom (USA) when it was first released. Rooted shortly thereafter....one click method. Installed the tiamat 2.6.36.3 kernel. This prevented me from updating from android 3.0.1...which I'm still using. I didn't care until recently. My xoom is starting to act weird. Now xoom says I'm not rooted. Long story short. In the most simple terms (not good at this stuff). How can I catch up to the lastest version of android which I believe is 3.2? Thanks in advance.

Maybe there's an easier way, but you could go back to stock -- fastboot flash stock wifi images from moto dev (no need to relock, though) and let it OTA update to at least three-point-two. Then you can install a custom CWM recovery and flash a rom or kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
Tried this?
Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend that. People are having trouble with it breaking their wifi.

Do you have CWM recovery installed and have the use of your sdcard? If so, what version do you have? You actually may be able to flash the Tiamat Moray Rom which is the latest version and should give you the update. But you need the most recent solarnz cwm recovery R4c and you will need to do a wipe data/factory reset in recovery before flashing the rom from your external micro sdcard.
