[Q] How To Overclock? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have bought set cpu to overclock my nexus to 1.2 GHX (is this a recommended speed or should i go higher) but it only goes up to 1 GHZ. How do i make it go up to 1.2 GHZ?

Did you flash a new kernel as well? The stock kernel doesn't OC. You need to download one like matr1x or netarchy's

no im on the stock rom still i don't knwo how to flash a kernel...is it a hard/dangerous thing to do?

Not hard, not dangerous. I suggest you take a read of the stickies both in the general and the development forum. They explain it all in detail and very easy to follow as most of them are step by step.

ok so i just looked at the matrix kernel and basically to put it ont here do i just download the version i want, put it on root of sd card, recover in clockwork and then isntall zip from sd? Is this correct or is there something else i should be doing?

Correct, download the zip, put on sd card, boot to clockwork and flash. Upon reboot you can now use setcpu to change whatever settings you like. I believe it boots up @ 1.2GHz by default

any specific stable kernel u recommend? i was looiking at matrix by mathkid and not sure what version to even use. What do u use? does it matter if im on stock rom and such

I use 5.0 CFS. Try and see what works best for you. I don't believe you need a custom ROM, but don't hold me to that. I do recommend switching over to a non stock rom for the performance improvements and added functionality they provide. Totally your call though

also what is the difference between cfs and bfs?

http://www.stackednotion.com/2010/06/04/what-are-bfs-and-cfs

ok is there a rom u can point me to that is stable with performance increase? also does a new rom usually come with a different kernel? To flash a rom is it the same deal? Can i do so through ROM manager?

Which nexus do you have?

non 4g I9020A

I personally have the 4G and can't really help you from first hand experience. I have heard people say good things about that "oxygen" rom. I would try out whatever looks best to you and go from there

ok thanks a lot man

No problem. If you run into any snafu's let us know.... Also feel free to hit that thanks button too It's always welcome!

Put the zip on your sd card
Backup
Boot in to Clockwork
Clear cache
Clear Davlik
Flash kernel zip
Reboot
???
Profit
EDIT:
Don't forget to backup unless you're like me and like to live on the edge. I've flashed multiple kernels this way but I grabbed the original instructions from LorDmod's kernel page in the DesireHD forums.
Thanks helushune, that sounds simple enough. You don't know were the thread is on this do you. I have saw a thread on flashing kernels like the sticky above on flashing ROM's. I would love to find it and save it as a favorite like I did the one ROM's for future reference.
capman231
EDIT: Just saw your edit, the one I saw was here in the Inspire thread. I haven't never been on the Desire HD thread.
There might be a kernel thread floating around here somewhere but I can't remember the title. The LorDmod one I referenced can be found here.
Thanks Helushune maybe if I keep looking I will find it.
capman231
Just literally flash it just like you would a rom. I don't backup, or anything but that's me. It would be safer though to backup just incase, but you'll be fine.
Thanks dilligaf, It will be your 25% rom I flash when you get done testing it.
capman231
Jusr remember if you do decide to go for a Rom also, that kernel isn't compatible with any Rom that says it has fugu tweaks enabled, since that kernel is completely stock besides the sound boost as per your request. Fugu tweaks will make it so laggy it will be unusable.
dilligaf is it the one I downloaded night before last (stockkernelSND_BOOST.zip) or is there another one?
capman231
Yup that's the right one, all stock except for sound boost. Only optimization are compiler optimizations

Yes i do all the steps before flashing (was like this)...
1. Boot.img - (Update)
2. Official Strock - (System stock)
3. Supperuser
4. Stock boot. img
5. install from Sd card in Recovery mode
something wrong?

I think some people did have some strange issues with extreme overclocking, as the Xoom was only certified to run at 1GHz, even though the overclocking frequencies have been extensively tested, as in everything, your mileage may vary.
What exactly have you done to mod your Xoom?
It seems that you have updated to stock 3.1?
Then you unlocked and rooted?
You have installed CWM in order to flash mods?
What version of Tiamat have you flashed? Which bootloader?
Are you overclocked--to what frequency and what are you using as governor?
It seems like your answers to these questions might help to find you a solution.
If I were you I would reflash an appropriate boot img. (WiFi version) and one of the Tiamat kernels, maybe 1.4.3, and then don't overclock it, just run it at 1GHz and see if that works.

yes i update to 3.1 from became stock and after rooted again.
i have Rom Manager and had "Reset recovery", after mount my USB Storage to copy files and then install from Zip.
Version of Tiamat 1.4.4 1.7ghz cpu OC (i uploaded today to see if the problem solves but nope, the same a red light next to camera, and the image are just stripes (like post one). No other overclock.
And i get the WiFi boot.img
i'll attach the bloc .txt where i copy the instructions i follow, maybe there is the trouble but i can see it.
You might want to try to flash an earlier version of the Tiamat kernel, 1.4.2 or 1.4.3. The bootloader seems like it should be OK.
If that doesn't work maybe you should consider flashing the stockwifi image. But 1st, you should read through or search the Tiamat thread in development for mention of your same problem. I know it is in there. Also, since your issue maybe related to Tiamat, that would be the best place to look for help. Just post your question inside that Tiamat thread.
Reading on the NET i found the red light apparently its for "Privacy" to know the front camera is on and "recording-transmiting" and take care of what we are doing.
But the problem with the image stills going (i get completly stock (no re-lock) but kernell and SO to stock yes) im guessing maybe some driver-files for the Front-Facing camera corrupts, someone can get it from yours and let me try it? please.
and seeing "beyond" maybe the Tiamat Kernell do it something to te hardware?
ideas?
+1
had the same issue.
SOLVED!!!! yea im so happy right now lol.
But finally i got image.
Error!! Doble post.
Please some Mod can erase this post.
Thanx!
First post edited if somebody has a clue of what happens. Please let me know.
- I get on Stock (3.0.1 oficial Dev page) and reset (settings/privacy...) .... nothing
- Manually Factory Reset (Stock recovery Wipe)..... nothing
- Fastboot erase Boot-System-Recovery-Userdata img's and flash again..... nothing
maybe there's some order to install the stock with Fastboot, anybody knows?

[Q] Help with rooting+installing custom ROMs for Samsung Galaxy 3(i5801) running 2.2?

Okay, now I know that there are other threads about this, but the issue is that none are specific to my problem. Either they are not for my phone, or my version is different or the thread is dead and with no replies. So I created a new thread.
Anyway, I was hoping that I could get a step by step procedure on how to root my phone and install a custom ROM.
The issue is, my KIES doesn't work (so help me with that also please) and moreover, I'm very new to all this so I don't quite get a few things.
Also, please tell me what are the best ROMs out there and if something does go wrong in the process, how do I un-brick my phone?
So I'm looking for active replies / repliers since I know I'll have a bunch of questions during the process.
Last, when I go to "about phone" on my phone it says "firmware version 2.2", but the little that I've looked up, people run 2.2.1. Does this mean my rooting process is different?
Thanks. And in case you want it, my kernel version is 2.6.32.9
Appreciate it.
rooting z4root
custom rom - pick a custom rom and follow instruction in that thread.
Your phone is already updated to 2.2 and that is the reason why kies doesn't show new updates. Our phone has 2.2 and not 2.2.1
If you use roms which doesnt have boot then it will not get hard bricked. soft brick can be fixed by reflashing.
What is the exact issue you are facing while using kies? Try a uninstall and reinstall. That should fix it
K, so I fixed KIES. I just had to update though, I was running on an older version. I didn't think a slightly outdated version would not detect my phone.. anyway never mind that.
So I don't really know what the best custom ROM is out there. could you suggest one? one that is fast (speed is really the priority), and not buggy, supports the apps that the stock ROM should. I'm willing to try three-four, so give me the names of the best ones out there.
Don't I need to root my phone before installing a custom ROM? If so, then I need to learn how to do that..
What do you mean it doesn't have a boot?
Well to figure out best ROm you will have to read up on each ROm. Each of them have separate thread where initial posts describe the properties of ROm. There are ROm comparison threads out there but that is just summary. I cant give you best choices. Everybody has different taste. Start with more popular ones, whose threads have more posts. More post -> more popular.
You can root using z4root.
Custom ROM are pre rooted normally so you need not root your phone before flashing custom rom

if speed is a prime consideration then i would suggest kyrillos rom..... fastest rom i ever used....... very less buggy.......
you can also flash lestatious rom..... it is damn fast and surprisingly stable!.....
and check dharam's rom collection too....... i'm using his ultra clean ultimate rom right now..... and it's good although since you are new i would recommend flashing a different rom from his collection.....
As for rooting.... you don't need to root before flashing a custom rom....
And in case you need any information about any of the features or anything.... just post it here ....... i'lll try to help you in whatever way i can.,.....

Hey i would suggest u to go for Indroid 4.3. I m using this and have seen many users jumping from lestatious and kyrollis to indroid.
As a begginer, u will also get many help in Indroid thread.
Z4root doesnt work in Froyo, if u wanna root, choose superone click.
U dont need kies to work, Use Odin to flash ur fone.
Make sure to learn processes better by reading through forums, if u dont wanna brick ur fone.
Hey!! I would suggest Indroid 4.3 or Kyrillos 5.6. They are fast as hey have lagfix.
And no you don t have to root your phone before installing a custom ROM. But if you want to root, use superoneclick to root.
And as for bricking, you can avoid hard brick by installing a ROM that does not have bootloader. Bootloader is a piece of code that runs before any operating system starts. So you should avoid flashing bootloader.
As for soft bricks, you can just reflash to come out of the soft brick.
okay so i was doing a bit of reading up and i realised the following :
1)First i need to download :
a) Odin (please post version number i have to get for my i5801 (or is it just one thing for all phones?) or a link please.)
b) some backup software. now i downloaded titanium backup, but it won't open because it says my phone is not rooted. so help me go about this.
c) a custom ROM. I think i'll start off with kyrillos rom since i've been told it's the fastest and very less buggy. i'll then move on to Dharam's ROM if i don't like kyrillos rom because Dharam seems to be a very active user, and quite friendly, and i feel he can solve the issues well. after that i'll try Indroid.
d) I also need superone click.
Question : Where do i download these? directly on my phone or on my computer?
2) I can increase my internal storage by partitioning a part of my SD card. Now I have a 4 GB SD card and i barely use it, so i don't mind giving upto 1GB of it. Please suggest the perfect amount. whether 1GB will be too much, or whether 500MB would be too less.
3) some apps do not work with custom ROMs. The app that i really want is 4shared. It's working currently on my phone with the stock ROM, so if someone can check if that will also work on the three ROMs that i mentioned.
4) soft bricking isn't much of an issue, but it's better i avoid it. so can someone give me a rather up-to-date guide (or link) on rooting, because the other ones are REALLY old. at least 4-5 months old and there have been some updates after that.
5) I can also overclock my phone. And from what I read up, SetCPU seems compatible with the above ROMs. And after flashing my phone with a custom ROM, my phone is automatically rooted. Correct me if I am wrong.
6) Flash player isn't available for our processor (V6). Since this is a hardware issue, there's no way i can make it work on some other ROM, can I? Because flash is a rather important software..
So that's it, I guess. Please add anything if i missed out anything.
PS : Does anyone know of any software using which I can download YouTube videos? Because the YouTube app kind of sucks, and buffering takes time since I don't have WiFi.
Wow!! Those are a lot of questions.
1) Link for ODIN.
ODIN>http://goo.gl/nCxCw
OPS FILE>http://goo.gl/ORin0
As for the backup software, Titanium backup is the best out there. As it can backup all the apps and all the settings. Yes you have to be rooted. So root and use.
And for rooting, use this tutorial,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011555
Don t worry about the oldness. This works. The link for superoneclicjk is available in that post as well.
Yes. Kyrillos is a good ROM. As it is prelagfixed and offer good internal memory as well after you partition your SD. Sizes, 512 MB ext4 and 128 MB linux swap. Rest of the memory you can use for storage.
As far as overclocking is concerned, in Kyrillos, you again have to flash a new kernel if you want OC.
And for the flash problem, only adobe can solve that problem.
And oh yes, most of the custom roms are prerooted. So after flashin you don t have to root again.

The rom is downloaded on your pc and flashed through it using odin.
I don't know any apps that work on stock rom and not on custom rom..... and 4shared works on kyrillos and indroid..... i've used it myself..
Most custom roms are already rooted and setcpu is the best app for setting CPU frequencies.
And as you said flash player isn't compatible with armv6 processors like ours.... so unless adobe makes it compatible no custom rom can do anything.
and for downloading youtube videos i'll suggest an app called you tube downloader or tube-X.......
Hope this helps...
Kernel
I flashed the indroid 4.0 Rom with Odin, and in short I will probably try to flash the indroid 4.3 Rom.
One question however, More and more I read about "kernel"(eg to get the 1% battery thing).
I know the kernel is the core of the operating system, but I don't understand how to use/apply it on my phone. Is the kernel something I have to flash separatly from the Rom, or is it included in the Rom?
If you need to install / flash it seperatly, where can I find the different kernels, and which one is recommended for my phone (Samsung Galaxy 3 Apollo)?
Hope someone can answer!
thnx

The kernel is included in the ROM itself. There are different kernels with different functionalities. For eg : - Most of the kernel that come with the ROMS are non-OC. So, if you want to overclock you phone, you have to flash the required kernel after flashing the ROM. The procedure is same using ODIN. Here s the link to the kernels.

Then press the home key, It should ask u to set detault launcher. Just click on the checkbox below and select touchwiz launcher.
Tell me if it works or not.
No I do not have any other launcher installed. At least it's not showing up there.. but i did try using the more latest version. 1.9.5. that seemed to work just fine. man, i was so scared before rooting this wondering what if something goes wrong. but that was easy

From the op (original post):
How to INSTALL:
Update to the latest java: http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Run as admin. (You need to have administrator access to your PC)
1. Put your phone into Download Mode.
2. If you have not used Heimdall, you will need to set up the driver for device recognition.
3. Once your device is connected, the DEVICE STATUS should show: CONNECTED. The long FLASH bar will also turn on for flashing.
4. Click on the FLASH button. (In my opinion: I recommend that you do this in a safe environment. Do not disturb your phone will flashing this firmware. Turn off Antivirus. Do not run any other programs, upload/download/youtube/burning DVD etc)
5. Once it has completed, your phone will reboot. You will hopefully see the ATT logo and reboot into STOCK UCLB3.
6. If it did not work, you will have to put it back into DOWNLOAD mode and reflash a second time, with the FLASH BOOTLOADER box checked. This is more likely if you never had proper Gingerbread bootloaders on your phone, if you are coming from FROYO or if you never had Odin a Gingerbread leak to get your bootloaders.
To get to download mode:
DOWNLOAD mode: Power off. Open back cover. Remove battery. Press and hold both volume buttons - (do not hold power button) Insert battery while holding volume buttons. Plug in USB cable.
It can also be achieved by open back cover, Remove battery. Press and hold both volume buttons. Plug in USB cable and then insert battery.

Being a non-technical/programming illiterate, I have no experience with ubuntu.
I have only worked with DOS and windoz thus far. The one-click seems to work very well on WinXP for me.
Once I have one usb port driver installed, I reserve that port as my go to recovery.
If you are on froyo 2.2.1, (and this has nothing to do with heimdall) uckd5, use lost1's original post in the Q/A stickied. There is a root and unlock program. Run that to give you the unlock code for your phone..may come in handy.
When flashing from froyo to GB uclb3, you may have to flash it twice, the second time with BL box checked.
The 1cllick implementation truly takes the guess work out of unbricking or upgrading your phone to GB

no..that's dman's specialty. Knowing how to do something and actually doing it is something else.
you can google it and try to modify it yourself.
gotta start somewhere, right?
phones issue
Hello. Help me please.
After flashing vagabond rom found that i can't hear the music on my infuse - after inserting phones jack, smartphone start to reinitialize cyclical (blank screen, then wallpaper appears and phone scanning for media. After it it fall back to reinit and again.. until i pull out jack from phone).
Previosly sit on MIUI and doesn't faced with such issue.
Try stock lb3 kernel and enthropy on vagabond rom - nothing changed.
Like speed of this rom and doesn't want to fall back to miui.
What can be a problem?
Thanks.

It's likely that you didn't wipe traces of previous rom on your phone.
To clear everything up, you may need to start over.
I suspect the MIUI background or CM7 can mess with some hardware calls.
Here is what I would do:
Back up your contacts to google, if you can, dont even bother with Titanium back up. Better to DL clean new apps.
Put your phone in DL mode: see my beginner guide..lots of links.
Use my heimdall 1 click package.
Flash it..you may have to do it twice, the second with bootloaders box check..read the ops.
Flash the entropy kernel after you are done the the pure att stock.
boot into cwm.
factory reset, wipe data, wipe cache. go to advance, wipe dalvik.
go to mount: format system, data, and cache.
go to main and flash vagabond. etc...
this will llikely clear up your issues..assuming no hardware failure.

ndhanta,
What you're asking has no bearing on this ROM.
But since you asked, I'm going to give you something to do. It may cause irreversible damage to your brain.

I can guess it is brain frying exercise. So I am happy with stock wallpapers till then.
(i came to know there is a way to do that by editing the launcher.apk file, i will see that in free time)
Running on stock kernel of this rom. Is there any easy method available to under clock the CPU to 1Ghz ?
Will it be safe as i dnt play games. Hd video. etc on my phone. I Just want to do it to achieve little battery performance and cpu to run little cooler.
Edit- Just came to know Entropsy new test kernel supports UV, which is also compaitable with this rom. No idea abt. Infusion kernel. Voltage Control app just go down directly to 800mhz.(i have set it to 800mhz and see no lags in contact scrolling and 720p video playback) I guess it is kernel issue.

I don't know if it is possible to OC or UV with the stock kernel. I don't think it's supported.
Infusion Kernel will allow oc/uv but will break video
Entropy's latest might allow uv..I don't think he has worked on the OC yet...if he get a device from Ltilt2 and has time..maybe.
Honestly, though...i think it's completely unnecessary.
Vagabond is as light as it is...if turn off your sync..3 days+ is not uncommon for me

Over-Clocking +1.7 GHz JellyBean 4.2

Will somebody please give me a link and go through:
STEP BY STEP on how to Overclock (1.7GHz or higher) my rooted ASUS Transformer TF300 on
-Jelly Bean 4.2.1
-TWRP 2.5.0.0
-Build # 10.6.1.15.3
-SuperSU
...If there 's anything else I missed, please don't hesitate to ask. Please also provide the zip files needed for me to flash it.
I don't know too much about flashing a custom ROM so please describe it in baby steps or provide a descriptive link in order for a NOOBIE to understand.
I have been trying to do this for a couple of weeks now... I am desperate

Please provide a link for me, please.
Did you unlock your tablet? if not you have to do that first! then download hundsbuah kernel(or a kernel that supports 1.7GHZ) here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5mr686tby6zxsi8
it is a flashable zip so you need twrp recovery!
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T
Im guessing your new to this so make sure you realise that u'll lose your warrenty if you unlock the tablet, if your still on 4.0.2 make sure you look into nvflash.
I appreciate you guys helping me out. It really means a lot!
Anywho... yes, my tablet is Unlocked. I thought by mentioning it's rooted it would be obvious that it would be unlocked. I guess I'm wrong.
What do I do AFTER I flash Hundsbuah? Which safe ROM do I flash next?
Do you guys think I can make it higher than 1.7 GHz safely?

I'll answer your last question first. 1.7 is as high as I have seen this tablet oc'ed and it remain stable, and many people can't even go that high. And with Hundsbauh's kernel 1.7 is the max.
I am running CROMI-X version 4.6.9 and it is an awesome custom a ROM. I have used both of those through several versions with great results.
That said, with CROMI you need to flash it first, then flash hundsbauh's kernel after you have booted into the rom once and allowed it to stabilize. Also, be sure when you flash the custom ROM the first time that you do a full wipe from twrp first.
Finally, there is a new version of CROMI in the works that will allow you to flash Hundsbuah's kernel at the same time you flash the rom. It is due out in a few days.
Whatever you do, read, read and read some more about the rom/kernel you choose BEFORE you flash. Many people have jumped in half-cocked and bricked their tablets.
Let me know if you have any questions (I am sure you have many).
Kindest Regards

Thank you so much pastor Bob for the detailed description of how CROMI and Hundsbuah works!
I actually do have many questions as a noob:
1. -How would I do a full wipe of my Tablet using bootloader?
-To branch out the question even more, what is a bootloader? and why does it matter so much? (seen many people saying to NOT full wipe from bootloader when flashing custom ROMs.)
-Did this unlock my device? (mine is apparently, JOP40D.WW_epad 10.6.1.15.3-XXXXXXXXX)
2. What the heck is SuperSU for anyways? I have it and it doesnt do anything and it keeps popping even when i do a full wipe.
3. Can you create a NANDroid backup without having to do it by using custom recovery?
What is Titanium Backup for? what is it so popular?
4. Lastly, is this a good instructions to follow in order to FINALLY overclock my tablet? ---->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223492
I really appreciate your help PastorBob... and also the help of the other people in this great forum community! =)
Please get back to me when you can! I can't wait to get working on my tablet improvements again!

Doing a full wipe is done by the recovery kernel (twrp) its simply formats the internal sdcard like you would a usb flash drive on windows.
As for the boot loader, all computers have them. Their task is to fetch the kernel from memory, in our case it can fetch the android kernel and boot or it can fetch the recovery kernel. Choosing wipe from bootloader will wipe both android and recovery afaik but ive never done it.
Supersu is an application that manages access to / "root" or the lowest level of the android filesystem. Rooting your device allows applications to access / with read write permissions, Supersu and others manage applications that ask for access to / .
For a NANDroid without a custom recovery, you can backup whole partitions with NvFlash, but im not sure how or if this is possible with adb/fastboot. Titanium backup allows you to "freeze" an appplications and save the files so even if you uninstall it, it can be recovered by titanium backup.
Simply unlock your tablet, install twrp, find and flash a custom kernel and download trickstermod or the likes and you can overclock within the range the developer has designed the kernel to allow for.
Good luck mate
EDIT : By the way some of our devices can overclock far past 1.7ghz and 650mhz gpu. Ive flashed a couple of tf700 kernels and 1800mhz and 700mhz is completely stable, i saw a thread somewhere in general of someone who compiled a kernel with an overclock of 2ghz but only some tf300ts cacn handle it. It all depends on our cpu revision

Thank you for your response, JoinTheRealms. Is THISa good custom kernel that would be able to let me overclock ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2223492
Will that be the procedure to follow? what does trickstermod do exactly? Are there better software alternatives?
Note: Ive already unlocked and installed TWRP.

Sorry 404 on the page you linked, im assuming it was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223492 which if you scroll down, you'll find this: http://d-h.st/lmM this is a package of kernels that work with Cromi and stock/ or stock based roms. This kernel package is exactly the same as the one in the tf300t thread for cromi. When you flash it with twrp, ull get a nice gui pop up (Aroma interface) u'll then get the choose between tf300t and tf700 kernels, only a few from the tf700 are compatible (Hint: the second to last is the best).
Your not going to realistically see a difference between tf300t and tf700 kernels. If you get around 7000 in quadrant your performing the same as most tf700s with custom kernels.
After that the last step is to download an overclocking app, my personal favorite is trickstermod, there are probably hundreds so just give a few a try

Thank you for your replies, JoinTheRealms! I really appreciate it. I have "No-frills CPU" app. I assume that's one of the overclocking app that's acceptable.
ONE QUESTION though: Do I ALWAYS need to wipe to factory reset every time I flash a new kernal???
By the Way, I decided to flash this ROM I got from one of the links someone shared here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5mr686tby6zxsi8
I was able finally overclock my tablet to 1.7GHz! =)))) (Note: it does something weird everytime it boots up. The asus logo goes 'burzerk' for like half a second. Weird...)
Would you happen to know something better, in terms of performance, visual effects and stability?? hehe please do share! =)

Yeah no frills is good, you can try pimpmyrom it has alot of tweaks and customizations for the kernel/ os.
No you dont need to wipe anything after a kernel flash, only when flashing a rom do you need to use 'factory restore' (it just wipes system and data) and this doesn't apply to all roms it just depends on what the roms based on. e.g you can flash cromi over a stock rom without wiping system and data (because cromi is stock based, just with modifications. There are a few others that full into this category). its good practice to wipe dalvik and cache after every rom flash though.
Dont worry about the artifacts while booting, ive ran that kernel for weeks without issue.
Id say this kernel is the best in terms of performance (overclocks to 1.8ghz, ive benchmarked over 7000 with quadrant) http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22945124161945688 (its by Surdu Petru for 4.2 bootloader and stock based roms)
If your feeling adventorous give ubuntu on your tf300t a try, im currently dual booting android 4.1 with ubuntu 12.10 works ver well

All I gotta do is synchronize it with my google account to avoid having to download every single app i had for my tablet correct?
wow... I didnt even know you can dual boot.
I think ill stick with hundsbuah's for now and see if i further need to upgrade.
Thank you for your input JoinTheRealms!
