Are you sure you didn't do anything else? People usually get this problem when they try to unlock the phone with market applications. Search for Imei in the forum, there are a couple of fixes:

install another modem

I odin'd
The phone was purchased used, but I did not try to unlock it, and have been using it for two weeks. It was not even rooted.
I went into download mode, and Odin'd to the KB firmware. Still searching, and null/null imei if I dial the code. But maybe a modem was not included. I will install cwm and flash a modem.
Thanks,

installed another modem through cwm fake flash... no dice... same issue.

fake flash?
anyway, try one of those links i posted before...they are all fixes addressing your problem....

At this point I've tried every method of flashing, and every version of cwmr. No matter what version or method I use, after about a week, I lose the ability to flash any roms that I havnt already flashed. I also can only restore certain backups due to.an MD5 mismatch. Has anyone else had these issues?

Ok if anyone is still having problems, id like to mention that I exchanged my 5 year old 2g simcard yesterday for a new one, and bought a new 16gb class 4 sandisk sdcard, and EVERYTHING is working great! so far maybe only 2 or 3 occurrences of data loss, easily corrected with a battery pull. And I borked some lib files trying to get the camcorder to work. So I installed the kanged version update-cm-7.1.0-RC0-G2x-KANG-signed.zip overtop of my build to get the rom to boot again, and now the camcorder works! Maybe only about 15fps but works nonetheless...

[Q] Baseband version unkown, IMEI unknown

I have an infuse locked with Rogers. Before unknown baseband version IMEI, I even did not root my phone. Have tried several ways which are found here for more than one month: Root, Flash rom, efs.rfs, modem, kernel. Problem still not solved.
Anyone can help me figure it out?
Thanks in advance.
Flash another modem... problem solved...done... your welcome...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Finally I intalled CWM to flash different modem. I got baseband and IMEI back at the first time I flash modem UCLB3. But at that time I did not have my SIM card inserted. Then I powered off my phone and put SIM card in, powered on. I got unkown baseband and IMEI again.
I tried to redo all the job I have done on my phone again.
1. Odin flash Stock rooted packages UXKG3:
Odin_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders_v2.zip
2. Odin flash :Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.zip to get CWM
3. CWM flash different modem files.
Still no luck.
Any suggestions?

Try to flash different modem. It only comes back at the first time after flashing.
Since when I re-insert SIM card, I will lose the baseband vesion and IMEI number again.
I also flashed "[ROM][UCKL2][2.3.6]ALL HAIL *Z*E*U*S*The Collective[3/5/12]". The same problem occurred.
I guess something wrong with hardware in the SIM card area. But not 100% to comfirm this problem.
I got stuck at this point. Anyone can give more clues?
Thanks.
Try gtg's back to stock.... Works for me....

[Q] Data and receiving texts works, but sending and calling don't work

So the other night I flashed MIUI.us from here- http://rootzwiki.com/topic/33059-official-miuius-v412-21019-10262012-beta1ril-fixed/ After that, I haven't been able to send texts or calls. I've reflashed to a bunch of different ROMs, Blackbean6, Jelly Beans 5, Cleanrom 5, same issue. I've even restored to multiple restores that I made through CWM and it has the same issue. This happened to me twice now. Both times right after trying MIUI.us. The first time, I don't remember how I got it to work again. I flashed a bunch of times, and eventually it worked. This time I can't seem to get it to work. The weird thing is that I can still receive texts. When I try to send texts, it says that it failed. Calls show dialing, then call ended. I've tried changing my mobile network from LTE/CDMA/Evo to Global and back with resets in between each switch to no avail. Again, the same thing with multiple ROMs. Any ideas what this could be?
Weird...last resort is always ODIN. Just flash back to bone stock and then work your way back to miui. (I know its probably not what you wanted to hear, but its a sure way to get it working again)

Check if your IMEI is intact, and that your ERI is set to "5" (Settings > About Phone > Status). If your IMEI is not correct or set to 0, consult this thread:

Agreed, that is probably going to be the solution. Flash to this version of the stock ROM, since the reprovision code was disabled on all of the new builds:

So I don't know a lot, just enough to get me into trouble... What is the reprovision code?

Please first tell us what your IMEI and ERI values are set to so that we can direct you to the proper fix.
These values are found in your settings: (Settings > About Phone > Status)
Do not post your IMEI value, just confirm that it is not blank or set to 0. It is a series of numbers that should match the IMEI # listed on your phone behind your battery.
Yes, sorry I thought I did. Both are correct

Backup your data and flash this ROM using Odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204
You will need to turn your phone off and boot into Download mode (Odin mode). There are guides available here at XDA as well as youtube videos showing how to get into this mode.
Once in Odin you flash that ROM (a 'tar' file) in the PDA section. Do not flash anything for this phone in any other section. The only option in Odin you will tick are "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time". Again, there are guides available here at XDA regarding how to use Odin. There are also Youtube videos. I would encourage you to make use of these guides. Odin is actually pretty easy to use.
Once you get that ROM booted up, you will enter the re-provision code into your dialer *2767*3855#

[Q] {q} HELP! MORON ATTACK! This thing is like a soap opera

So, yesterday, I had a perfectly functioning, stock 4.1.1/rooted unit.
Got a little frisky and decided to try out Liquid Smooth. Flashed that through recovery (it's a 4.2.1 Beta 2) but forgot to do the bootlocker.
The latest LS has a Bluetooth sound problem that's pretty bad. So, I thought I'd switch over to CM10.1, their 4.2.1 effort.
Well, without the bootlocker in place, you can pretty much guess how that worked out.
So now, I've odin'ed a variety of roms and so forth; no clue what happened to my backup.
My main focus has been what I call the dunce-cap routine, of going back to stock and starting over.
The problem? I did that and now I'm stuck in roaming mode and my calls don't work.
I'm dead without this phone (considering how long I've been working on this, since 8 pm or so yesterday except for a couple of hours of sleep, I might be dead, period.) and I've got to have one functioning. It's so bad that I'm considering just trashing it and buying another one, even thought THAT would hurt.
Almost everything I try winds up either getting the yellow triangle or the odin fail.
Now, thanks to some help I've gotten here that focused me into understanding this total screw up is MY fault completely, I believe I know what has to be done.
The plan was to go back to stock, root and DO THE DAMNED BOOTLOCKER, then go back into CM10.1 and make some changes in subscribing to CDMA or something (don't have that in front of me this second) to get the phone part of the phone operational but I can't get there.
In the guide here I have completed step 1, flashing the factory image.
The next step is blowing me up. I have used the file I have for the Recovery: CWM6023TouchVZW.tar.md5.tar, maybe 4 times.
NOW when I try it, odin fails and the phone tells me "secure check fail : recovery."
And help would be appreciated. Before I feed this thing to my Doberman Cavalier Spaniel. Or something.

Yup. Completely stock rom is installed. The next step was installing the recovery... and using a file that I had used before, that's where I'm running into the problem of the secure check fail.
That very file HAS worked before, 3 or 4 times with no problem.
Why does the file end in ".tar.md5.tar"? It's supposed to end in ".tar.md5" Since owning this phone, I've never seen a file with ".tar" twice in the file name.

Update: OK... have gone through the guide which went brilliantly.
Now, do I just boot this thing into recovery and flash the CM10.1?
Is there anything I've overlooked? Anything else I need to do?
And do I do the factory reset/wipe dalvik and the rest before, or after?
I presume I have to use ezlock to unlock the bootloader again after this, right?
No, you still need to unlock bootloader and backup your IMEI. You may want to do quite a bit of reading, CM 10 is not as easy to fix some of the potential problems that you could possibly encounter.
I am not hating on them, but don't think it is as simple as one of the TW ROMS.

When I try this method to back up the IMEI it doesn't do anything after entering the *#7284# and if I hit the phone, it just sends me to a Verizon intercept operator.
The only reason I'm trying to get into a 4.2.1 ROM again was this:

[Q] Samsung Infuse 4G No Network IMEI problem..tried Factory Reset

My problem seems a bit confusing. It is not identifying my SIM CARD or any other SIM card as a matter of fact. Infact, its not even identifying its IMEI number as well as it only SAYS no Network. However GPS and also WIFI works perfectly.
I restored the phone back to its original Factory settings, using Odin, and even messed with the efs file etc, but it still doesn't work. So I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or probably a problem with the radio ???(Hardware problem??)
Can you assist ?

as well as some others for using Odin etc.
Nothing seems to work

Hey, have you resolved your problem? I am in the same situation and still searching for something... I've tried flashing with odin + the modem, pda, pit, CSC and still it hasn't solved my IMEI problem... I've copied my EFS file to an external source, for the safety of it... I am not sure why this problem appeared, since I've bought it second hand just for the Mobo, since mine was fried... And the guy I;ve bought it from is now where to be found... so... any help would be extremely appreciated!
Happy coding!
I've had the exact same situation. Sim wasn't recognized, the *#06# gave me null/null also. My friend saved it when he showed me this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895500&highlight=efs
It works now, with the exception that it displays the AT&T World Phone splash screen (I'm on Rogers).
Please help me!
i have bought a used infuse. my problem is same as you guys. Its does shows network when i start my phone. within seconds the network goes down and i needed to restart my phone to get network. Yup it shows network bar with out service name, imei no and baseband version. After that i root my phone to unlock my phone. I have successfully unlocked, but network wont last for a minute or so.
Then i tried with leaving phone with my charger. Then it works, it wont lost any network. Works as charm,
And i replaced my battery. No effect!
Conclusion is I have to consider my phone as a landline, always charging!
Should i go for hardware check?
