Is deleting tw launcher ok? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I use launcher pro, is it ok to delete the stock touch wiz launcher? I do not have an app freezer so no way to test it myself. Thanks in advance!
On the moon our weekend are so advanced they encompass the entire week

what rom are you on? i have deleted tw on all of the custom roms, but i think you need it if you have the stock rom.

should be fine to delete as long as you have a back up launcher

Running stock with launcher pro. Just hoping someone with a freezer can test it and confirm.

I delete my TW launcher all the time. It takes up space and I think it's ugly (no offense to people who love it!) compared to our other options.

[Q] Captivate Launcher, Android.Process.Acore has stopped working.

Hey guys. I'm pretty new to all of this, and basically learn by breaking it first and figuring out how to fix it after.
I have a Captivate. I installed ADW Launcher on it. When I did this on my X10 I was able to rename the stock launcher so it didn't load. Basically I replaced the stock Launcher with ADW.
I tried this with my Captivate and ended up getting the Android.Process.Acore has stopped working message. Now I haven't deleted the stock launcher, just renamed it, so if worse comes to worse I can simply rename it again and I'm sure all will be well.
However, I guess the question is.. is there a way to replace the stock captivate launcher and not get the A.P.A message?
Thanks for any insight you may have.
To save all the trouble why not just set adw as the stock homescreen/launcher in the application defaults menus rather than renaming stuff in the system?
In the end that's how it is set up, isn't just adw loaded over top of the stock launcher then? Ie, two launchers running with ADW in the foreground?

adw ex seems to have wiped out the moto launcher

I just got my atrix 2 today and have rooted it and installed titanium backup.
It seems the default launcher was overwritten by adw ex.
Does someone happen to have an Apk for the moto launcher so I can put it back?
Try an app called Homeswitcher. Will allow you to swap back and forth between any custom launcher and home.
yeah I use homessmack and totally forgot to use it to select my default.
Its fun to be a noob again.
I have homeswitcher installed. when I clear defaults it only lists ADW EX and Go Launcher EX as choices.
If u want it back u have to remove it. All Motorola androids are like that the stock launcher disappears til u uninstall the others. My atix and electrify was the same way

hmm, home switcher worked for me.
there are 2 versions of home switcher, are you sure you installed the right one?
either way, i too had the, cleared defaults and moto launcher still didn't show up problem.
Ok glad to hear this weirdness is normal. Thanks for the replies.
Yeah Moto's home comes right back when you remove ADW. It seems like a courtesy feature. Motohome just goes and hides in a corner and lets other homes do their business without asking if you want it to be default.

TWLauncher Problem

Hi all, need some help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the following error appear sometime.
TWlancher (process.com.android.laucher) has stopped unexpectely.
How can I fix that.
Appreciate.
Sorry if this seems like a flippant response, but ditch the stock Touchwiz launcher and try Go Launcher HD. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles like cute scrolling animations and whatnot, but it's really smooth and clean looking.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.go.launcherpad
It made my Tab experience much better, and doesn't have the bloat or odd behavior of something like ADW EX launcher.
I had the same issue, TW Launcher would constantly force close.
This started to happen after I was installing a bunch of apps at once and trying to remove widgets from the home screen. I ended up having to do a factory reset and installed Go Launcher as soon as I got the tablet up and running again.

GoLauncher HD = Best thing ever! Unfortunately though on the TAB version (HD) of the Go Launcher you can't sort apps inside folders ?!
I like Go Launcher EX way better on the Note. You can move apps inside folders around just like on iPhone!
I'm having a recent problem with GoLauncher. I've got it set to run as default but every time i check TWLauncher is also running. This is driving me nuts! Any help? BTW, not rooted yet.

How to disable TouchWiz?

I've been using Apex launcher this week (which is amazing, and imho has tons more options over Nova), and would like to disable TouchWiz. I noticed that TouchWiz does not have a 'disable' option like a lot of other apps do when viewing app details.
I am rooted, but I'd rather not use Titanium Backup since I do not plan on completely removing the app. I just want to disable it like I have been able to do on the Verizon bloatware apps.
Can I simply go into system/app and rename the TouchWiz app?
I've noticed that when I download/install a new app, the phone still tries to add the app to the TouchWiz home screen which I find annoying.

Touchwiz is built into the ROM. The only way to not use Touchwiz is to use AOSP/AOKP or something without TW.

I'm using Apex Launcher as a replacement and would like to disable or freeze TouchWiz without using any new apps like Titanium Backup.

You're still using TouchWiz. You can't NOT use Touchwiz on Stock. Apex is just a launcher. TouchWiz is the entire touch interface. Everything you use is still using TouchWiz.
You remove, freeze, rename, etc. any TW files you will probably brick the device and have to odin back to stock and start all over.

Okay, thanks guys. I guess I misunderstood and though TouchWiz home was just another launcher. I didn't know it was essential to the rom itself.

No worries. TouchWiz Home is just one part of TW, but TW itself is basically the framework added onto Android by Samsung which is part of everything. The only way to not use it is to use AOSP or find another non TouchWiz ROM (not sure if any are out for the S3 yet)
I'm sure you can freeze the launcher and get away with it.
I believe it's "SecLauncher2" or something to that extent. Look for the word "Launcher".
And I'm not responsible if you bootloop

I'm curious, what are the "tons more options" ??
I have seen people post this before but nobody seems to know what these options are.
I used Apex for months in my old Rezound but I prefer Nova in the G3 myself (& I have the paid version of both Apex & Nova) but maybe I'm missing something.
So far, Nova has had every single setting or option that I want so I am really wondering what I am missing??
Nobody yet have balls to ****ing delete or freeze TW to see if it works along Nova...

Replacing touchwiz

My phone is rooted and I'm tinkering a bit- what are some good launchers to replace touchwiz? Cheers!
NOVA Launcher and Action Launcher.
Both will give you more options in the paid version and both are well worth the money you'll spend on it.

Can I then delete touchwiz? I mean, I have an app that removes anything from my phone as it's rooted.
No you can't. You have to install a custom ROM to completely remove touchwiz. Thus means you wil also lose your Spen functions and you multi window and fingerprint scanner. Now most of these have other options within AOSP ROMs so you can get some them back but it takes quite a bit work to do so. If you are new here, try a launcher first.
After having any other launcger in system folder you can completely remove touchwiz from system.
Not without serious consequences for the functionality of the phone. Please do some homework before deleting TOUCHWIZ altogether. I not saying you shouldn't. Many people love AOSP ROMs and remove touchwiz asap. But first now what your are chosen for.
The site galaxynote4root.com has some videos available about what I'd AOSP and the benefits/costs of going for it with a device as the note 4.
