Rom with the best GPS is...what? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Which rom has the best GPS capabilities?
I've downloaded a couple that have been quite crappy with signals.

I'm using the 2.3 update. The v21e update and I get locks in right at about 3 seconds every time.

+1 Have to agree

See I updated to 2.3.3 (xboarder's original hack) and my GPS locks on in 3 seconds...almost a mile down the road...

I have perfect gps

This was the last thing I was expecting from this phone. Did they finally fix it or am I an anomaly?

That's what samsung gps usually does and what my gf's captivate always did. That was the reason I got her the inspire.

gps has been working perfectly for me since out of the box
I can't complain. Mine has always been perfect.
Same here. Never had a gps issue. Even at street level. Must have been fixed with the first ota maybe?

I get 15 sec cold locks with 9ft. accuracy all the way down to 4ft. after a min or so. my vibrant takes 45sec to lock with 20-40ft accuracy. (and thats with gps mods). id say they fixed it.

I agree. GPS was always my biggest reservation with Samsung phones. That and lack of a stable cm7.
When cm7 finally comes out for this phone I might sell my mt4g.

Battery life on CM7

How is it? I'm on BAMF 1.7 now.

I got 30 hours this weekend on the extended battery. Running cm7.1 RC 0.6.

I averaged about the same on cm7 as the last guy stated with an extended battery. I used the stock shipped radio with imo's kernel.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I get anywhere from ~17-25 hours depending on what I'm doing. I did get 36 hours several weeks ago right when it RC0.6 was released.
Stock battery, stock radio, imo's kernel.

2.6.35.13 kernel from Slayher. And the most recent froyo approved radio. Sorry the name/number of it escapes me right now. I know a lot of people really like Imo's kernels and I've used them in past. But for now this is my set up.

Don't fix what isn't broken right? Slayer's Kernal works just fine.

Radio 0422r or 0223r (officially released froyo radios).
CM7 0.6 is much better than the previous pre-alpha versions. I'm very happy.
I can get up to 30 hours if I'm just doing regular use a few phone calls or texts. It's hard to tell though because I have it connected almost everywhere I go. Work, car, home. the couple of times I haven't had it on a charger for a while it's lasted a day and a half or so with extended battery

Exactly my thought as well. I may try one of those ultra lean kernels eventually but last time I tried that wifi stopped working. I should note that I live and work in bfe Indiana and my phone fights tooth and nail for a signal all day long which I'm sure further hurts the battery.
The MR2 and MR2.5 were the best by far for my reception but cm7.1 doesn't use them currently. So for the time being I usually spend 50-75% of my time searching for a signal. Wifi at home helps this out but still. The MR radios were more likely to be in the circa 50% area of time spent looking for a signal.

Is there a GPS fix that actually works?

On using the miui Tom on my g2x and havebyried using the bloater program to fix the GPS configuration file and it still takes my g2x fifteen minutes to find a lock on me and tell me how to get to where o want to go. Last night iI for home right as it kicked in. Anyone e had any good experience with any other fixes?

Stock GB with Google supplemental servers. Works fantastic. Locks instantly.
EB 1.05 2.3.3 locks in 10 seconds.

Could use some suggestions.

I've used every rom on XDA and they're all great in their own way. I'm currently running the latest miui by whitehawkx. At first it was great but now I'm getting slow down and random loss of signal that only returns with a restart. I also have problems with the screen not turning back on properly. I press the lock button and the screen will light up like its about to turn on or it will flash the lockscreen for a second then go blank. Only fix is to relock then unlock again, quite a pain.
I'm looking for a daily rom that will get me at least 9 hours of battery life, is fast and responsive. Like I said, I've used all of the roms here but I don't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up for each rom and testing for multiple days to make a choice. Personal choices are welcome but please say why you like it.
On a side note, does anyone know why updates have pretty much stopped for all the roms our phone can use?
Thank you!

Try Weapon 3. I have been using it for a few weeks without any problems. Better battery life is accomplished with turning off GPS, Bluetooth and data when you're not using them. As well, don't run unnecessary apps and don't overclock.

Was actually in the process of downloading weapon. I can't shut data off since I need constant access to my email but otherwise I already do the other things. I've only been able to get about 10 max on my phone regardless of the rom, might have a bad battery.

I used GiggleBread with Trinity kernel and got over 25 hours as a max. On average I'd be around 16-18 hours with that combo. Try that. And this is with moderate use.
Wtf is gigglebread? If its on xda then I stand corrected in my statement that Ive used all the roms.

How does the GPS on the Galaxy Nexus compare to the G2x?

Even with the new baseband the G2x has a unreliable GPS (sometimes needing a reboot to work, etc). Is the Gnex much better? (Generally, and in urban areas or heavy tree cover)
Sent from my T-Mobile G2x
<30 secs always.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Yes, The gps on my gnex locks from a cold start within 15 seconds. After the first lock it's pretty much instant every time after that.
Thanks guys.. I ended up ordering one last night. Seeing the Jelly Bean demos at Google I/O was the straw that broke the camels back.
Ill see u there

With the new baseband and v21y update I get locks within 15 secs or so every time. Mostly instantaneously.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
As I said in another thread, with v21y I get <15 second locks nearly all of the time; once in a while it'll be back to the 2-3 minute mark.
