So I had NFS Shift on my old Motorola Droid phone, apparently now theres 2 versions on the market, one for $4.99 and one for $9.99. The $4.99 one is the one I had and said its incompatible with the Play, but the $9.99 one is. Then I went on the Market on my phone and it said it was available and let me download the $4.99 one. I figured, sweet. But it doesn't support the slide out controls, is there a difference, does the more expensive one supportive of the control pad, or is it just not available? Its a cool game, but not $10 cool if thats the case I'm not paying for it twice.

However the email came back automated and said i wont be responded to and directed me to their help site.

The buttons work and you can see pictures of the xperia play and the x, o, square, and triangle buttons on the menu. It is definitely different. The only thing that gets me is, they didnt give an option to steer with the left/right buttons, only tilt! You use the up down left right for shifting and starting drifts, and x and o and triangel for gas brake and camera. Pretty weak. I just wanted steering controls.
worms is really good and uses the analog sticks tho.

Yeah thats what I was hoping for, steering with the gamepad, if it doesn't have that its totally useless to me. Thats the main reason I bought this phone, I enjoy having the ability to play mobile games, but I HATE playing any sort of console style game with tilt and/or touchscreen controls. I guess I'll stick to Asphalt 6, its fun, even if its not much in the way of realistic racing. (Not that SHIFT mobile is realistic but you know what I mean),
Oh well, giving up on this one.

Has anyone else with an R800x noticed that the wapshop.gameloft.com, Gameloft's in-phone purchasing site, now detects the specific R800x and lists the device as having no games available??
I had just visited the site, and later in the day I was checking again and suddenly it now shows "Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800x"
"Sorry, there are no available games for your mobile."
If I click on the phone name I can select the Xperia Play from a list, and it gets me back to the Xperia Play store page, as would previously load, and I can even access my downloads again...
Just thought it was strange. I thought I'd give it a couple of days to see if they'd add games or fix the re-direct, but it doesn't seem to be changing at all.
Anyone else notice this? Anyone know what's going on with this? Is there some corporate behind-the-scenes Verizon Market vs. Gameloft Shop vs. Android Market exclusivity battles going on?
Not trying to be alarmist, but it's a weirdly sudden change. I'm using same browser and same bookmark I've always used.
Same happens for me. Noticed it a few days ago. I hate how the apps are in different stores. I also wish gameloft would release all their games in the android market. I bought 4 gameloft titles on my previous phone and now I'm going to have to re buy them which is stupid. I also bought a game from them like a week ago through the wap shop and never got a link to download it. I sent an email and haven't received one back. I'm getting kind of pissed at them.
Sent from my R800x using XDA Premium App
thats why I download them on my computer. If you change what phone you are using and click on the my downloads button, it will give you a download link for any game you have bought on that computer but for the phone model you selected! I figured this out a while ago and havent had to rebuy a single game since. Even though I already had bought them all like 3 times at that point lol.
Yeah, I have the same problem. They're having a Club membership deal. 2 games $7/month, with two free games at the beginning. I'm going to try it out, see what happens.
maybe its a region thing?
i have 2 options here, i can go to wapshop.gameloft.com and it will show me all of the available "hd" games for the xperia play at 2.99 each, and if i go to the xperia play app and click on one of the games available for sale it will redirect me to my carrier's own gameloft shop which has them for the same price but in mexican pesos

Probably. If I'm on 3G, it takes me straight to verizon.gameloft.com or something like that and it says "no games available". If I use Wifi, I can actually see games.
I have the same problem. They advertize the Verizon app store underneath where it says they have nothing available. I'm really wondering if Verizon pays them to not allow us to buy games from them directly or some nonsense like that. I can find N.O.V.A. 2 in the Vcast app store but not in the Android Market even though the game WAS released to the market. I'm never ever going to buy from Verizon's app store... what if I change carriers?
I'm having the same issue, I was going to get NOVA2 but it's not available in the Android Market. I saw it was available on the website https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftN2HM&feature=search_result , but it's "not compatible" with my phone.
There must be some confusion about the R800x on their end.
This issue is very concerning to me as well. I have been able to get around this issue buy selecting the phone explicitly on gameloft's site but its not streight forward. I like this phone a lot but I am worried if Verizon is trying some kind of lock down. In the end it will only hurt all parties if this is the case.

Agreed. I don't care if it serves me caviar on toast. I will not use a _CARRIER_ provided App shop. Unless it allows me to go download my apps/games/etc once I'm safely with another carrier. I guess I'll just buy over my wifi and then download it similarly. (which considering the size of some of these games, isn't a bad idea). Still, to yank the ability to buy games directly from the creators at reasonable prices instead of the carrier having to get their extra pound of flesh (or pound note, or US$2-3 in this case), it just screams greed and lock-down (based upon greed and insecurity).
Just curious if any fellow g2x'ers are playing Order and Chaos Online from Gameloft..
I've been playing it for a few days now and it is pretty impressive for a mobile MMO. It's essentially a WoW ripoff (including art), but it has some polish to it.
On a side note, if you are playing, do you know if there is keyboard support? Thinking about purchasing one.

Because as well as Gameloft has done with the interface, it just isn't practical to play this game on a touch screen in every situation. I've already run out of space for my combat skills/spells, and the spinwheel cast bar in the bottom right just doesn't cut it.
I'd just like the option

However, the game seems better designed and has classier stuff than most of GameLift's efforts, including the terrible prequel.

Unfortunately no matter what they do, it will be cracked unless it needs to validate a individual serial key everytime you start the game like what blizzard does. But that only stops the online play. You can still play offline without key.

The AI of the rivals in Matchplay games is really cruddy. Seldom have I seen something as exasperating as having the rival send the ball three times to the water in the same stroke.

Can't get Let's Gold 3 HD to work on HD2
Everytime I start the game it says the game is not compatible with my device. I use HTC HD2 Leo (Android CM7 2.3 ver.). Is it because I don't have a 3D display or I can still get it work somehow ?

No it's because you don't have an android phone
So the biggest request I've received since I started xperiaplaygamer is a sort-by date option. Putting that system into place would be easy...hunting down release dates for 367 games, however, would be a nightmare
On an insane little whim, I decided to see what all related info I had to see if I could turn this request into a reality.
While doing so, I noticed that my Xperia Play review (from November '11) noted 173 games under Xperia Play's belt. Then I had a major "holy crap!" moment. Between then and now; not only did Xperia Play's library do more than double, it jumped 6 shy of 200 games! While these are typical numbers for the smartphone app scene, this figure is not typical for the higher tier of smartphone gaming where physical gamepads come into play. While they'd solve a ton of problems, most gamepad solutions get ignored so badly that they fall into the "Totally goddamned useless outside of emulation" pit of oblivion.
...and through some form of psychotic paradox (that I can't even make sense of), Xperia Play manages to not only have quantity, but has a breathtaking 334 out of 367 games scoring between 70%-100% (going by Google Play Store ratings, of course).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's not been a single gaming handheld released in history that lasted over a year and had positive reception on 91% of it's entire library - that in itself may be even wilder than the near 200 game growth!
Just sharing the tidbits of optimism & good news

You're right all over the place. This device just feels brand new, I mean... It replaced ALL my mobile gaming. I mean all of it. Accounting for the fact that I also love emulation... Anyway, I think it could be put actually above other portable consoles. All of this without even considering the smartphone functionalities. As soon as I heard it coming out, I knew it was gonna be mindblowing. But now this much. I mean, we will probably get Aralon. That's not something you're going to find on portable consoles so easily.

The phone might not have been as big as SE would have hoped but as a gamer , this is the greatest phone i have ever used @[email protected]
Even if i get a new smartphone , i know that i will NEVER sell my XP . Unless of course my next Smart phone is an XP 2 @[email protected]
Hardly consider it a failure , its the definition of a NICHE device and YET , its still getting tons of support from the indie devs and even big publishers like Gameloft and Rockstar. Not to mention that with GameKeyboard , the library is even bigger.

I'm trying not to accept this, but it really has. My PSP and DS are long gone, and after all that hyping up I did for the PSVita, it's been taking a backseat to my Xperia Play just because Xperia Play offers so much more! PSVita has one online shooter and one online RPG and... well... they're both fairly terrible compared to what we have on Xperia Play.

Also very true... I remember back when Aralon first got it's release and PSP owners (myself included) dropped our jaws because we not only had nothing of that caliber, but no open-world adventure RPGs whatsoever... Aralon wouldn't even be the first of that genre for Xperia Play :\
I also see myself sticking around for the long haul 'til we see something that can truly replace everything Xperia Play brings to the table.
yup im not getting new phone unless its xplay 2 or replace with xplay 4g!

I can relate to this, I left my PSP all alone since I bought the Play, I only use it to play Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, my NDS is next to my PSP without use too.
This phone is amazing, it's any gamers dream, there are so many games and I see games suitable for any person's liking. I was also looking forward to PS Vita but I believe if I buy it I'll play 2 or 3 games and leave it too, and it's kind of expensive...
Lastly, this phone was not a fail or an error. It has it's limitations but it's a very nice phone anyway! It draws attention from everyone when you slide the damn thing! I thought I wanted to trade it for a better phone and then when I got the chance I had to refused it.

Right now for the PSVITA, I only play Resistance and Mortal Kombat. That's it. It isn't expensive at all,it's just the memory card and games.
Once AC3,Black Ops and LittleBigPlanet come out, I don't think I'll go back to my Play. Might pick up the pick up the Nexus for my main phone and keep the Xperia Play for games and emulators.

Oh its worth it in my opinion. At one time ages ago, think a year ago, it was free for a time from the flexion store. Even if i didnt get it for free at that time I would buy it, the controls, story, graphics and smooth gameplay are one of the best games to utilize this phone. So if I were you I woul go and buy it from the flexion store. Because if theres one thing everyone with an Xperia play knows its how much touchscreen gaming sucks.
Im still using version 1.1.33 and its perfect.
For me this is the best game we're got from EA untill now.
