Wi-fi function will be related to your radio version and possibly the kernel that you are running, so please provide details of both.
Also agree that this Question shouldn't have been posted here in Development Section, but, it is now so rather than double post it, lets try to solve the problem, especially as none of us have the ability to move the thread.

Thanks for you helping me solve this question at first
my desire s has s-offed by xtc clip
1.
CoreDroid ROM => kernel is unavailable(but it should be MDJ's UNITY V1)
the kernel of Virtous Unity is MDJ Unity V1 too
(both of them are original kernel un in ROM)
2.
Radio - 20.28b.30.0805U (because I'm Taiwanese)
(3. RUU is - RUU_Saga_FET_TW_1.31.950.2_R_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.14_M_release_180347)

Yuck! that's looks nasty...But before you start to cry.....can you still enter recovery?
If the answer is yes then try to re-download the kernel file and the attempt to re-flash. Otherwise it might be time to go down the RUU path
Question: what HBOOT version do you now have? as I read that you applied 1.47 at some point.

Wifi 802.11n on Desire 2.1

I can confirm this IS working on a desire 2.1!!!!
I have attached an update.zip that will enable wifi N on any desire running 2.1 and also will update the wifi drivers to the latest drivers.
Have fun!
Works flawless on my MCR rom
This is kernel dependant, please download correct file for your kernel!
If yours is not listed please make a post stating your rom and kernel and post your bcm4329.ko from system/lib/modules and I will update this post with a zip for your phone
Thanks for different zip's/.ko files go to:
FloHimself
peewster
PablosOne
For tethering use: http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...etail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk&can=2&q=
UPDATE:
How to make this hack your self if a zip is not available for your Rom:
Take bcm4329.ko from system/lib/modules and open it in a hex editor. Search for 'nmode' and replace it with '-----'. There are 2 instances of this so make sure you replace both.
After that download any 1 of the attached zip's and replace the bcm4329.ko in the zip with the one you just created. Sign the zip and flash!
Also to answer some other questions: changing to WiFi n will NOT make your WiFi faster because you can only be as quick as the slowest link which will be your internet supplier which in most cases is up to 8mb in which case WiFi g is more than capable. Updating to WiFi n is mainly for stability/greater distances from your router.
Also in theory WiFi n will most prob drain more battery than WiFi g but in my zip's there is k newer firmware which is suppose to help in battery drain. I have not personally noticed a difference but as a general rule if your not using WiFi then turn it off! That way theres no battery drain!
I hope this answers some questions for you ;-)
If yours is not listed in the attachments below then please check the following post first before replying: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6949980&posted=1#post6949980

Best Radio to use
Sorry if I have put this in the wrong forum.
I have the Sensation 4G. Carrier is Virgin Mobile in Canada (Bell Network)
I have had crappy reception since the ICS upgrade.
I have two questions. Does anyone know the best radio and ril to use for the bell network?
Is there some step by steps to do this. I still pretty new to flashing roms etc and some detailed instructions will help.
Also let me know if you need more info. I believe the phone firmware is 3.32 and the rest should be in my signature.
MIUI Rom
Android Version 4.1.1
MIUI Version 2.9.21
Thanks.
I flash my radio through bootloader. First let me say I'm S-off. First you place the pg58img file at root of sd card. Make sure it says pg58img only. Then I remove my battery then place battery back in. I press volume down and power at the same time when the device boots into bootloader it will recognize the pg58img file and ask to continue update, press power for yes. Let the device update fully. You now reboot normally. You now MUST delete the pg58img file! If you don't the device will continuously try to update this file in bootloader. So DELETE it right away when finished. You now successfully updated your radio. The ril is flashed normally thorough recovery. Hope I've helped. This is how I flash my radio.

You can also flash the RIL with a free app called Get RIL from the Play store. Works like a charm and lets you choose between different RIL's if you want to try others out. .
Thanks for the reply. How can I find out the best radio to flash.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
That my friend you will have to discover for yourself because we all live in different areas so what works well for me might not work at all for you. Best place to start would be the generic ICS radio files. Try out a few and see what is working best for your Area. It will be by trial that you find what's best. I wish I could be of more help but because we all are in different areas it's impossible for me to guess what will work best for you. I'm sure you will find a radio that works well for your area.
do some experimenting and you will find what you need. Best wishes

Hi usually with the generic ics radios the compatible rils are listed next to compatible radio, remember I said you can flash the ril in RECOVERY just like a Rom. There shouldn't be any problem. Please try it that way. I'm not sure of play store app get ril? It's not needed. Just flash like regular Rom. You will see several compatible rils next to the compatible radio file. Flash the radio using the pg58img method, then simply flash ril same As Rom.it should work like a charm! Please give it a try , report back if you succeeded. That's how I updated my radio and ril. I've had no problems! This should work for you. Best wishes !

Hello, very pleased to use your ROM.
And I have found some bugs about HTC Sense Input.
It does type English without any issues, but if i change it into Chinese Pinyin or Zhuyin, it will not type any thing. Occasionally it turns right, but sometimes it gone wrong again. I don't know why but maybe that's the problem.
Thank you again for the brilliant ROM.

WiFi Problem

I'm running ViperS on my HTC Sensation. The ROM is running great for me, except for one thing, the WiFi. When I attempt to turn the WiFi on, it gets stuck on "Turning On" and eventually just says error.
I asked this question in the ROM's OP, and got one response, I was told to reflash my kernel.
I'm not sure if this is the proper method to fix my WiFi, so I'm making this thread to find out.
If this is the proper method, can someone walk me through it, or point me in the right direction of a tutorial?
Sorry for the noob question, and thanks in advance for the help.

It's not a problem with connecting to the internet, It's more of a problem with the rom itself (and the last rom I used aswell)
When I go into settings to turn wifi on, My phone just stays stuck on "Turning On WiFi".
I was told reflashing my kernel would help, but to be honest, I don't know how. I've found the name of my kernel:
[email protected])null
But I do not know how to re-flash it.

No, I had this problem with my Sense-O-Maniac ROM (But didn't care much because I didn't use wifi)
Now that I've switched to ViperS ROM I was told that I had to update my firmware to get it to work.
(In this thread)
I flashed the universal firmware mentioned in the thread I linked.
In my phone's info I see:
Android Version- 4.0.3
HTC Sense Version- 4.1
Software number- ViperS 1.3.5

No, that is incorrect. You are able to edit the system partition but not radio or rpm, tz, rcdata etc. with an unlocked bootloader but no S-OFF. S-OFF enables you to do anything and edit any partition.

I think everything you need is the relocked bootloader.
Yeah, the ruu will write the recovery back to stock itself. The only thing you need to do to run an ruu is relock the bootloader.
Keep in mind you will lose root if you run the ruu.
Thanks and yes i am very well aware of that and if he tryes to flash custom roms like Viper S,the phone boots just fine but there is no gsm signal,is it because of the kernel and can he use the stock cernel with the Viper rom ?

It sounds like it could be just a modem configuration problem. The first place I would check is: open up the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* This will open a screen called "testing." Then go to "phone options" and scroll to the "preferred network type" option. Make sure that an option is picked that includes GSM. Be sure not to change any other options unless you know what they are for, this screen alters the core of the phone.
You also get to show off a hidden menu on your friends phone

It is my understanding that viper works fine with the stock kernel.

it happen because the kernel is with write protection i.e. u can change the system partition ones but it be rolled back to stock after reboot
to avoid this you have to install a custom kernel with write protection disabled like Bullet proof kernel by flar( it is shared in forum have a look)
Ok thanks im gonna tried it with his phone when i have time and guess what that menu even works on my Htc One X
And know i wanna know if his HBOOT 2.15 might be causing this problem, because i see that most people on this forum have a lower HBOOT like 1.15 if im not mistaking ?
