Has anyone gotten the update at all yet?
Skimming through all the other threads about this...it seems like No.

I was expecting to get it on day one... but i guess not
Could you please specify that this is about the t mobile version (which as I assume it is) to avoid confusion?

Lucky! I got a new sim card yesterday hoping to alleviate my connection issues...it didn't help.

Just got it, about dang time...
I just did a check and it found the update as well and downloaded it. However, I'm unlocked, rooted and have CWM installed so it failed. Here's the exact message for others who come here with the error so they know why...
"Finding update package...
E:unknown volume for path [INTERNALSDCARD : Download/OTA_Ville_U_TMOUS_1.84.531.2-1.53.531.16.16_release_2651973pm4j0bopq68v1g1.zip]

Installation aborted."
Kind funny, I had to edit to put the space between : and D because together they do this:
So, I've got the ~58MB zip sitting in my Download folder. Would it be helpful for the devs to have it? If so, I can upload it somewhere.
I'm downloading it now as well. Thought I'd be the first to post! Did the about>software update manual download.....
Oh wow, just checked and it's there now! Installing as I type! Hmm, wonder if somebody forgot to flick a switch, and then somebody saw us wondering and flicked it. ;D
I've been checking manually for the past few days and now its wants to show up.
ABOUT TIME
Saw four bars! First time for that. Still pretty much staying at two bars though. I'll have to watch it today for improvements.........
Previous to update 4g, no bars to 2 bars. I left it in the exact same spot. After update 4g two bars. What I am hoping for is less times when I wake up my phone to find no signal. We'll see.
Hmmmm, I'm unlocked, rooted, and have Clockword recovery installed. I just have this dialog box saying:
Verifying Package
Download Successful
Verifying Update package....
And just hangs out there.
When I go to my software information it shows
Software number: 1.53.531.16 71ORD
Does this mean it worked?

You have to unroot it for the update to go through
Nope, it won't update/apply successfully if you are unlocked and rooted and have a custom recovery installed.
I've been waiting to flash a custom ROM so once the custom ROMS get this update integrated into them I think I'll start trying out ROMs.
The new version is 1.84.
My OTA Jelly Bean update does nothing but fail. It gets as far in the update as having the little 'Droid with the progress bar underneath, but gets 1/3 of the way and fails every time. I AM rooted.
Tried the following:
Wifi
4G
3G
Factory Reset
Removing SD
Putting SD back in
Updating while rooted (didn't mean to)
Updating without root
Updating while on Temp Unroot with Voodoo Rootkeeper
I'm starting to get aggravated, and I really don't want to have to go through Verizon customer service. Any ideas?

Hi, did you remove bloatware? Possibly the OTA refuses because of this (was in my case....)
Furthermore, attention to how you proceed with the root - in the process of updating I've lost mine - so do check out the psosts regarding root/update, it might work for you

Yes, I did remove bloatware, but when I factory reset, they came back, and worked fine.
Did what 90%+ of posts say. Use Voodoo to "hide" your root while you update, then restore.
Update still failed. Will be calling Verizon when I get home from class today because it's just making me mad at this point.
UPDATE:
Talked to Verizon, and the tech (who is a fellow phone nerd) says that the first step in the update is to check the bootloader. If it's been tampered, it will fail. He also said that if I can pull it back all the way to factory everything, no root, and they can't tell the bootloader has been modified, then they'll replace it. If they see the bootloader's been touched, they're gonna charge me $299.
I have rooted via MotoFail2Go, would a step in that process be to modify the bootloader? Pardon my ignorance, I haven't done any tinkering into real modifications. Although, now I'm gonna go back and play around with my Droid X

I'm having the same exact software. I uninstalled and froze a few bloatwear. Used MotoFail2Go to get my root. So what do we do now??? are you tell me we're stranded unless we beef up another 300.00 for a new device?????? Nahhh all these nerds on XDA someone's gotta have an answer....................right?
I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues, but I agree. Someone's gotta have an idea on what to do, or try next.

I'm assuming you both were rooted via MotoFail2Go? What did you do before you sent it in to hide your root? Just unrooted and restore to factory?
Thanks everybody for your help!!!

Cool did your new device come pre installed with job? If not did you have any problems upgrading to job on ur replacement device?

Not that it matters much anymore, but with root, if you actually deleted bloatware apps with titanium, or froze them, but didnt defrost them, the update will fail. Also, if you had safestrap installed, the OTA will fail.
Most you want to do with the bloatware is just freeze it. and then remember to defrost it before the OTA.
Gotta be careful.

The bloatware came back and works fine after a factory reset though.
Are you telling me I'm screwed then?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
No, you are not screwed. You may have to reload original ICS from FBR process. It is documented on this site. I had to do that not because the OTA failed, but because I lost root.

I have the Dev Edition with an unlocked Bootloader.. is this why my update is failing?
My Jelly Bean OTA gets all the way to the last tiny bit, then right before the end Andy Android ends up on his back with the red triangle over his open stomach, my phone reboots, goes through the update process and shows update failed but I'm running Jelly Bean.
When I try to load the update my self through recovery, same thing happens, but the error shows....
assert failed:motorola.update_bl_backup()
Any one...Any one...Bueller.

I just tried to flash CM10.1 onto my phone - which has been unlocked and rooted - now it won't even boot. I get a yellow "exclamation" and a message saying it detected system software not authorized by Verizon and to take my phone to Verizon! Am I screwed??
Help!!!
That means your bootloader wasnt unlocked. Use odin and flash back to stock and start over
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
FrEaKeD me out! Going to try all that ODIN stuff again. Thanks!
(hope someone is still following this thread)'
I am using these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
I got to step 3 but it won't boot into recovery. I just get that error again that I have unauthorized software again.
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks.
You need to odin back to stock. You are trying to partially fix something that is broken.
Search is your friend. It is stickied. Look for return to stock. Then start over.

Thanks guys. I only have a loose grasp of rooting. I started over like you said. I have control of the phone again. Avoided an embarrassing trip to Verizon.
What does this error mean?
"ERROR: could not get pipe properties
rebooting..."
I got this while updating the new firmware for VZW
Looks like it succeeded the second time. Is your phone booted? If so, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had the same error but during flashing of the radio and firmware not a reboot. My phone is fine so I'd imagine yours is as well

I tried to root my fone few days back but stopped in between just after trying to flash recovery and failing in it.
Then due to lack of time i stopped.
My knox warrenty count is still 0×0
But while checking for update my fone gives an error that unauthorized modification is done .
So what should i do now ?
Sent from my SM-N915G using XDA Free mobile app
Is normal and you can only solve if you flash a stock and renounce Root. As long as you have root stands there not official, although the Konx is 0x0.

You will want to reflash stock firmware via odin. And after that if you leave it stock it will be able to receive any ota updates.
