openvpn, xoom 3.2 tiamat 2.0 - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm running xoom 3.2 with tiamat 2.0. I managed to get openvon by installing busybox, openvpn and did the settings.
now, I connect using openvpn settings but it says:
connected to xx.xx.xx.xx as
no ip address. It says connected and the notification keeps coming up connected but I cannot talk to anything. when I do "ip addr" it shows me tap0 with no ip address which I think is my problem.
I am pointing openvpn settings to my tun.ko in /system/lib/modules/tun.ko
Thanks for any help or anyone who got it working for xoom tiamat 2.0.
BTW, it works on on my nexus one and windows so server setup is not the issue.
thanks,

I have more of a question for you...
I attempted to install Tiamat on my Xoom 3.2. I boot into recovery mode, select the Tiama 2.0 zip I placed on my SD CARD, install, reboot, but it doesn't appear to have actually changed anything. Am I missing something? I too am trying to get this to work because I need OpenVPN.
I know that this isn't the kind of reply you're looking for, but I could not find any other related post. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

what do u want it to change. Go to settings ... about tablet. What does it say under kernel? If it says tiamat then its there.

hmm
is this for connecting to wireless tether point with xoom?

i found this in my log

[Q] WiFi finds networks but can't surf after Unlock/Root/Tiamat1.4.0?

Hi folks, I'm new to playing with Android & have a Motorola Xoom here, but I'm kinda stumped by what I'm seeing right now.
First off, I've unlocked my Xoom (WiFi model), put the ClockworkMod Recovery on & updated to the 1.4.0 Tiamat kernel for Xoom WiFi. I'll note that I did it the manual way with adb and not by having ClockworkMod Recovery update from a ZIP, because I was having troubles getting the file to the device.
Well now I have a Xoom tablet that sees networks in the area and only connects to my secured network with the correct password, but when I try to do any network activity from an Android app (tried web browser, market, and youtube), data doesn't appear to move, kinda like it's stuck on DNS - but even if I try a direct IP, data doesn't move.
I've been searching but haven't (yet) run across any hints about what to check... I'm really open to suggestions now - and thanks in advance!
you can try re-pushing the modules through adb or maybe run tiamat 1.4.0 from recovery with .zip file. its real easy to goof things in adb.
Thanks for the response jase!
Well I had tried manually reloading (aka the pre-ClockworkMod method) a number, and when I would adb shell back to the device, it could ping out to other devices & I could ping it from other devices, so the wifi driver was loaded. It's just that nothing could resolve a DNS name, and I couldn't even browse to a local server by IP address in the browser.
I don't have an SD card (yet) and I haven't seen nor discovered another way to download the .zip into ClockworkModRecovery to install it that way. When I try to use the CMR's option to mount the SDcard on my computer, my computer doesn't see the tablet at all - not as an ADB, fastboot, nor mass storage device. A pointer to a good thread with information on using CMR would be appreciated!

[Q] Cifs Manager help

Does anybody have cifs manager working and able to mount their shared network drive? I tried pushing two different cifs.ko modules using adb.. but when I go try to mount my network drive I get "no such device". Neither one seems to work. I'm using the tiamat 1.4.1 kernel.
My NAS drive is shared, I'm able to access it on any other computer through the web, so I know that part should be fine.
Please help!
update:
I reflashed the 1.4.1 kernel and it seems to be recognizing the cifs.ko file now, because now I'm getting a different error when trying to mount:
When I only put admin as the username, I get "permission denied", but when i try to put the password in for my NAS, it says "no such device or address".

[Q] Openvpn issues on LG G2x other than cyanogen

I am having problems with openvpn and I would really appreciate any help that I can get. I was not able to make openvpn work on Eagle Blood rom. Here are the steps I used. I installed binary file at the system/xbin using the openvpn installer from the market. I then created a folder at the root of sdcard and named it openvpn. I placed in the folder the configuration files. I then downloaded and installed openvpn settings from the market and tried to connect to openvpn. It would connect to the server (a small key would appear on the top of the screen and says connected) but data would not be tunneled through the vpn. My real IP address would still show while connected to vpn.
BTW, I flashed cyanogenmod 7 nighties #53 and it worked. I use simple mobile and data does not work with cyanogen since the APN needs to manually configured and with all the APN issues going on with cyanogen at this time, I would prefer to use another rom that would support openvpn.
Thanks in advance and I apologize in advance if I posted this at a wrong place. I am new to XDA forums.

[Q] unable to connect to VPN on ICS 4.0.3 Nexus S i9023

I have updated my 9023 to ICS 4.0.3 manually twice, but each time I was unable to connect to VPN, I have tried both PPTP and L2TP/IPSec PSK which works well on PC or GB2.3.6.
It shows timeout or unsuccessful.
I noticed that tha aLogCat record this for several lines(when connecting via L2TP/IPSec PSK):
D/mtpd (2682): Timeout ->Sending SCCRQ
Click to collapse
and this leads to "Timeout" error
my baseband version is I9023XXKI1
build number is IML74K
hope it could be solved. and if more logs are needed, please let me know.
Same issue on Galaxy Nexus running 4.0.2
Baseband: I515.09 V.EK05 / I515.EK02
Kernel: 3.0.8-gaaa2611
Build #: ICL53F
Looking at the gateway logs, Phase 1 negotiation completes, then receives nothing more from the phone to complete Phase 2.
Same here, am really disappointed as it worked really well on GB2.3.6
Why do they fix something then take it away? Idiots
I solve the PPTP problem by changing the permission of \etc\ppp\ip-up-vpn to 777 (all option is checked). but L2TP remains annoying.
