I have a Dell Venue pro with Mango 7661.
I need to restore back so I can receive the new firmware update that was just rolled out yesterday. When I ran restore.bat, it said there wasn't a restore point found. However, I DID backup my phone before I updated to Mango. Where should my backup be located, and please can someone just attach a file with their backup?
Try this :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179095
I hope it helps
But DO UNINSTALL and than install Zune again before you begin!

Is it posible to move backups between PCs?
I mean if I backed up my phone in a pc at home. Can I restore it from
the pc at work if I just copy the files from that folder.
Everytime i hit the update it tells me my software is up to date. I dont get the screen where i get the option to restore.
Not sure what the string is could you tell me more about it cause i dont have appdata.
look in Folder Options and click the box to show hidden files, that will give you access to appdata
welp, I tried to restore to NoDo. My first error was to upgrade the tool to match Zune. So I uninstalled Zune beta and installed the stable version assuming the problem was that I was trying to install NoDo while that was on there.
After removing Zune beta, installing Zune stable and trying to restore again, I get "No restore point found"
Update: Now I'm getting another error: Unable to restore your phone because the backup is not valid.
Update 2: I re-installed Zune beta. And I remember reading somewhere, something about removing "UpdateWP.exe" when encountering errors in Windows 7 x64, so I moved it to my desktop. I checked my backup directory and it was missing two files for some reason. Luckily I backed that folder up in two places (Dropbox folder and my home folder) so I did the manual restore and placed the folder where it belongs and tried again. So far so good. I might do a hard reset when it's done just to make sure everything is fresh.
I used restore.bat improperly and lost my premango backup. I have an HTC Arrive. I read that I need to install a custom rom to get Nodo back. Is there a tutorial for this. Also is there any roms available for Arrive?
Please use Zune to perform the rollback.
I got it to work. For some reason the restore point folder wasnt copying over to the user/appdata/local/microsoft/windowsphoneupdate. Once I got it in there the restore option showed up in zune beta.
I have also lost my backup for my arrive due to my computer crashing.... Please Help!! what can i do??
I'm currently running Mango and I would like to restore my NoDo backup so I can unlock the HTC Trophy and then upgrade to Mango again but I don't want to loose my SMS. Is there a way to do that?
Assuming you saved a backup of your NoDo before upgrading, COPY that into the C:\users\<username>\appdata\local\microsoft\windows phone update\ folder (delete whatever is there), then launch Zune and look for update. It should give you an option to Restore.
Backup my Titan via Zune (forced backup, but seemed to work 100%).
Checked backup and restored to the phone OK.
Phone sent to HTC for repair.
Connected phone to PC / Zune expecting backup to be there and available for restore but when I go to Settings / Phone / Update it checks for update, message saying I have the current version but no backup listed to restore.
HTC returned the same phone, re-flashed or whatever....
Loads of info now missing....
Any advice really appreciated :0
ps, I backed up the backup into another directory (I think)
OK, resolved .... I think.
The file that was in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update was removed when I connected the phone. Luckily I copied it.
Dropped it back into the folder above, restarted Zune and now its there.
Just restoring.
So, moral of the story is back up your backup.
