[Q] Help, need 3.0.1 firmware - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently OTA to 3.1.
Unfortunately it kills video mirroring and leaves a blank screen on the tablet, as per ASUS tech support. I need to download the 3.0.1 firmware but I can't root.
Tried calling ASUS and their tech support hangs up 3 times.
Thanks.

i don't recommend going back to 3.0.1 though. 3.1 is far more stable, maybe you had a bad flash?
but i cant stop you

Not my decision unfortunately, this is for business and we need video mirroring which was killed off in 3.1.

[Q] Can't update Allshare Cast Dongle?!

So, I wanted to update my Allshare Cast dongle through my Note 10.1 today, and I was surprised to see that Google Play say my Note 10.1 was an incompatible device? Whaaaa? I also went to the Samsung App store and the Allshare Cast SW update was missing from there too.
What gives? How can I update my dongle now? Does someone have the latest APK or something? Should I bother Samsung?
I have the same problem using my Galaxy S4. Any solution?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
I myself used to encounter various issues of ACD connectivity with my GNOTE 2/ GNOTE3 & GNOTE 10.1.
I found along the way thru trial and error that the ACD device always seemed to work flawlessly when first booting into a clean / factory reset / stock rom type of environment.
Though upon moving forward with custom hacks, tweaks, etc. it would always knock out all access to using the ACD and or applying dongle updates from the playstore.
Unfortunately, reinstalling a clean apk of ALLCAST just does not work.
The only work around I found that does work (or at least for me) is the following:
*Start off with a clean fresh factory reset (Root/SU is OK)
Before ANYTHING, connect wireless to your ACD. Make sure you are up and running with full connectivity.
Immediately after...Literally, use Titanium Backup to backup your entire system apks (specifically Allcast.apk)
Then proceed to custom tweaks, etc.. This way you always have a working backup restore of Allcast.
Somewhere along the way you are bound to get hit with connectivity issues. I am not sure why or what causes this but I can assure the TBackup always works to reinstate working status.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Internet issues

Recently purchased and have been liking the tablet besides it's internet performance. I immedietly updated the tablet to lollipop out of the box so I was not able to test it's network on kitkat.
Since using the tablet I've noticed a variety of issues:
1. Opening webpages in chrome is substantially slower than on my phone (htc one m8 running fairly stock sense rom), with longer load times and occasional hangs on page loads that require a refresh to complete.
2. When using either reddit is fun golden or reddit news pro, subreddits take longer to load than on the M8 as well.
3. Slow Google play downloads. I'm not sure if this is just a Play store being slow or truly an issue with my device. Occasionally if i have multiple downloads or updates qeued it will finish one and just sit on trying to start the next one without actually doing it.
I have been having these issues on two different home networks with different routers, different ISPs, and different cities. Interestingly though, when running the Speed Test app, the tablet does better than the M8 and comes back testing perfectly fine.
Any suggestions as to what i can do to get to the bottom of this? Any diagnostic test I can do? Any setting? Has anyone else been having these issues and is this just an issue with the lollipop update?
Thank you in advance!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think any OTA update is a "dirty flash". I also was having many issues that included complete freezing up of the tablet. You having updated out of the box could be different (I had a bunch of apps installed when I updated), but I think most of my issues were solved with a factory reset. ??
I'm sure its a software issue as at school I get 40mb which is alot than my nexus 7, 10mb

6.0 Update - Miracast issues?

I received the OTA for 6.0 the other week. Did a factory reset after the update to start fresh. I am S-On and not rooted. I use my Microsoft Wireless Adapter to cast my phone to my TV quite a bit however ever since the 6.0 update it has become pretty much nonfunctional. Most of the time I can get it to connect however there is huge amounts of lag and as soon as I open any application on the phone the image on the TV freezes. I never had this issue on 5.0 and was wondering if anyone else noticed this issue on 6.0 and if so if they have found a resolution to the issue?

Encrypt Phone does nothing on Doogee X5 Pro (Android 5.1, kernel [email protected]

I have a Doogee X5 Pro (Android 5.1, kernel [email protected]). When I try to encrypt the phone (Settings -> Security -> Encrypt phone), it has me verify my screen lock PIN and it checks that I have a fully charged battery, it briefly puts up the Android logo then restarts ... and sits at the DOOGEE logo until I long-press (10+ seconds) the power button to restart the phone. It never encrypts.
Can someone recommend, either specific to this phone, or likely more generally to clone phones running (I presume) AOSP based Android 5.1, how to get the phone to encrypt?
(The phone is not rooted and I prefer to not have to root this, as it is for a non-technical user, not for myself).
thanks,
I have similar issue. have you been able to fix it?
No, no luck so far. Still hoping someone else has an answer.
Hm, now that I think of it, the phone just received an OTA update. When I have time, I'll try again, and see if that update fixed this problem.
I'm going to try other ROMs today.

That's great, thanks - please let us know which ROM you choose and how it goes.
I'm really hesitant anymore to buy anything which won't run CyanogenMod. I'd like to know how you choose an alternate ROM for the X5 Pro?
same issue here
Same issue here. Older version before OTA update even dis not contain the Encrypt phone item. That appeared now but does not work. Seems as a problem for all x5pro phones
I have what I beleive is essentially the same phone but with a larger screen (X6 Pro)?
Do any of you folks send Skype video messages - my phone runs Skype video conversations fine (camera is crap to be fair) but each time I record a video playback is usually stuttered and like a slideshow or frozen and in other instances the recorded video just "disappears" after recording with no video to send...
I also notice that when watching YouTube videos, if you scroll down through the comments the video playback becomes garbled....
I was not expecting issues like this with a quad core, 2GB RAM adnroid device.
The phone is generally very nicely built other than the aforementioned issues...

Original Shield Tablet Freezes When Connected to WiFi

Hi there!
I've contacted nvidia regarding this issue (reps seems oblivious) and posted it on their official forums to no avail, so I'll try and give it a shot here.
Basically whenever my tablet connects to WiFi after being disconnected for some time (a few hours to a few days), the tablet freezes when it downloads notifications. The freezes can be minimal (like a 5 second freeze) or be quiet substantial (it can lock up for as long as 10 mins). Once all notifications are downloaded and displayed, the tablet then performs like a charm. I even got my tablet replaced from nvidia and it has the same problem as the one I sent in. Uninstalling Facebook and Facebook Messenger improves performance drastically, but when my tablet checks for notifications it freezes still freezes for a few seconds (with Facebook installed, it could lock up for 10 mins and crash the launcher multiple times). Running on max performance did nothing. I'm really curious if this is a hardware or software issue since some people doesn't seem to have this problem.
I'm running on nvidia's stock firmware (4.2) unrooted.
So here is my question. Have any of you guys experienced this problem? Were you able to solve it? How did you solve it (did a custom rom solve this)?
The main reason why I haven't installed a custom rom yet is because I use the stylus frequently and I use the touch-block feature in nvidia's stock roms and couldn't find ports of it.
Here is a video of the issue. (youtube.com/watch?v=cJrUPV7mY6s) Now there are a lot of widgets on the video, but I assure you removing all of them does nothing. I tried.
Facebook Messenger. That says it all. What other apps have you running in the background?
This definitely sounds like a software issue to me.
Maybe you're being hijacked. Who knows.
I've had this same issues since I got the tablet (K1). System reset, no non-Google apps. Happens regardless of FW; I'm on the latest update. Don't be quick to blame the OP.
Basically, every time the tablet gets a new network connection, the system hangs and becomes unresponsive for 10 seconds to 2 minutes at a time. It's obvious that it's updating all the apps' network requests. However, the thread priority should make the system hang. I've only seen this issue on the K1; never on any other Android device. Either they're using a custom network stack, or they've messed with networking priorities.
I'm on the latest update

Of Facebook Messenger? Or OS? Or all apps?
Either way, it makes no matter no such issues on Lollipop. I am just saying.
