You may need to try BROWSING the sections, too. It's been asked a million times.
Non-rom specific touchscreen driver issue it is suspected.
Some people experience it, some don't.
I, for one, haven't, but many people have.
well when you put the topic of the thread it gives you some similar options to your problem and no one of the options was even close to my request so thats why i did it.. can you give the link where was asked the same question as me please?
thank you
Bumb...........!!
Will the touchscreen driver also make parts of the screen non responsive randomly? I am having that happen to me and wondering if I should try and exchange it.
Running Cm7 nightly in case thatd help
I've had this problem on multiple roms.
I've had this issue on multiple roms as well it's not horrible at all though just have to touch it a second time. the weird thing is I can pretty much predict it for example when scrolling through my apps in tibu it gets stuck at the same spot every time. and also the xda app on the first scroll. it's been discussed many times but I'll throw it out there again. NOT A ROM ISSUE, HTC ISSUE. MANY PHONES ARE AFFECTED. don't stress over it

On Droidforums everyone is talking about a tool called "Rom-er" that let's you convert regular D2 roms into D2g roms. Why isn't this forum updated with that? I thought XDA was supposed to be the leading developers in Android. People have had good results from it and everything is credited to Team Get~R~Done. Here's a link to the forum.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...rom-er-tool-tool-convert-d2-roms-use-d2g.html
It was posted in the android development section like a week ago bud.
I see it now, but I'm just surprised it's not having more activity like it is on droidforums. Like no one seems to be making it a big deal on this forum. A lot of great things could come out of this.
Maybe thats because everyone is posting about it over on that forum, since the devs of it arent here, but there. what would be the point of asking questions and stuff here if noone here can answer them?
Oh...we're here we just don't have enough posts to be able to share links...yet.
But you're correct, we will be much quicker to respond to issues over there, at least in the short run.
Also, we really need some help, the tool works pretty well, but has an issue with soft rebooting at sleep whenever the sensors are enabled. Xda devs are known for being the best/brightest, think it's worth posting in the dev section, or here in the D2G section?

Hey buryboi, I should post this at the other forum but since I saw you here thought I would pass this along.

Seems the sensors go off during sleep which could be the issue with your wake boot issues. My guess is the crash is due to trying to turn them back on.
Have you tried replacing the lockscreen system at all in Rom-er as my guess is the wake procedures may be device specific and when it tries to turn on the sensors it is trying to turn them on for a D2 not a D2G and that is what is causing the crash.
Thanks! That could be part of it. I don't think it will sleep at all..I've looked at the logcats and it crashes.basically as soon as we hit power to manually sleep the phone...
Its really frustrating at this point.

That fact that you even got this far should offset the frustration! LOL
It could even be an issue with the way the Button maps.
I Just been hunting for everything that happens when the screen sleeps to try and identify what proccesses could happen to cause a crash instead of a force close.
If we had the ability to compare the kernels of the D2 and D2G (no locked bootloader) we might find the problem or at least the main difference there.
Have the Thunderbolt set up for making sound when touching screen. The screen will work as it should and then without reason it will get very soft and sometimes completely stop making any sound. Checked all my settings and they are as they should be. I also have the Sensation and the screen is set up the same way and it works properly. Is there something I'm overlooking or is this another bug?? Any help would be welcomed. Running stock Thunderbolt.
Thanks,
restart phone and go from there

It's a bug of some kind. I've had it since the day I bought my TBolt(Launch Day). I think the reason its not heard about much is because most users don't use the screen sound option and also because a lot of users here and at AC root and flash custom roms.
I'm still running launch day software because it just works for me for the way i use my device.... this being the only bug that affects me. I rooted and flashed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013577
and the issue went away so if it really bothers you I would go that direction. I assume other custom roms fix it as well but I cannot comment as the above is the only rom I flashed before going back stock and un-rooting.
Thanks for your input, checked other sites and found other people with same issue. Going to root this thing anyways and I'm sure the new Rom will fix the issue. Might check out the one you downloaded, looks pretty fast.
Thanks again.

Rooting your phone shouldn't affect anything, as long as you don't flash a different rom. I have not listened here that someone after rooting experienced problems with Gps or any other app still using the stock rom. As you were told, use gps status to see if satellites are detected. If non are detected or are not fixing, go to menu tools and reset the A-gps. If u are still experiencing issues with the gps try flashing this patch...it works nice:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250226
Before doing anything, try rebooting your phone....it works for me...

Hi all,
just bought an Inspire off CL, and unfortunately didn't reallize that the screen won't rotate. I trired recalibrating, but it kept being aborted even though I put the phone flat on the table on its back. A search turned up tons of complaints from about a year ago with few resolutions, and none worked for me (reboot, recalibrate, kill all apps with adv task killer, switch sim card, etc.)
So the big question is, would rooting the phone and flash custom rom solve the problem? Has anyone solved the problem with the g-sensor?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Is the phone rooted? Some roms have customizations to lock the screen and keep it from rotating. Do any screens rotate? Or is the home screen just not rotating?
Try going to home> settings> display and check auto rotate screen.
Sent from Soundwave aboard Nemesis.
Auto-rotate is checked. Apps the should rotate (e.g. Google search, email) don't rotate, and most frustrating is that games that use the g-sensor just won't work. The phone is running stock Gb 2.3.3.

If not rooted I would root and try a custom rom would hurt nothing. But make sure you use Ace Hack Kit and no out of XDA method. Also read, read, then read the Effen manual and make sure your knowledged on the steps for rooting. If you get stuck anywhere there is an IRC chat connection in the Ace Hack Kit page.
The thing about buying used phones from someone else is like buying a used car. Your basically buying some elses headache.
The other option would be to return to seller for money back, your option.
PS: If you decide to try out a ICS ROM remember that the kernels are not fully released as of yet so some games will not fully work and do have a few bugs depending on how it reacts with your phone. For gingerbread I would try a few out and see which one you like.
(Absolution 3.7 , Coredroid 9.4) lol my preference but thats a can a worms you dont want to open here on XDA by asking which is best ROM so dont.
Welcome and Enjoy the learning.
Ok, so all the reading made the rooting process seem somewhat intimidating. However, when I actually screwed up the courage to do it, it was like, that's it? It's donde in under 5 minutes, and I hardly did anything!
So the good news is that the phone is now rooted and flashed with coredroid (looks nice!). The bad news is that there's no change in the problem with the g-sensor! I'm starting to suspect that it's more likely hardware. In any case, I wonder if there are any Roms that might have a better shot at fixing the problem? Somehow I have the probably wrong impression that a custom rom that's modded from stock aren't likely to fix my problem... Any suggestions?

Yeah, if you had a sensor problem before the root and it persists after, it is more then likely a hardware issue and no amount of rooting/flashing a new ROM is gonna fix it. If you're under warranty, unroot and send it back for a replacement.

Did you look in setting for rotation display settings. Some launchers like adw launcher lets you also check and uncheck rotation angles. All roms are great in their own way, try a few on for size but I would give them each at least a week or two of testing. A day or two is not really enough to get the feel of them. You can try Absolution 3.7 , Redemption Alpha 6 (ICS) , or even go over to the Desire HD Dev section and try out - Ice Cold Sandwich 7.2 (ICS) (also dont forget to flash inspirmod as well with this one). Also these three will get rid of the stock look.
Good Luck
The phone was bought off craigslist, so no hope of return or warranty. Rotate sreen in settings has been checked, as well as g-sensor calibration (which invariably ends in abort, even after rooting and flashing coredroid. I might try absolution in a few days.
The phone is for my son, and he cares a lot more whether the accelerometer works (for games) than how nice the rom looks.
One problem I found after flashing coredroid is that even at boot up tbe email app keep crashing (without me opening the app). Anyone knows whats up with this?

Did you do a full wipe (factory, cache partition, dalvik) before flashing rom. Coredroid has a zip called full wipe 1.5 as well.
I flashed absolution, and it didn't help with the g-sensor problem at all. I put coredroid back, this time wiping data and cache, and the email problem went away. I guess my son will have to live with the g-sensor as is. Thanks to everyone who replied for the suggestions.

Hi guys
Last night I installed the fallout rom on my desire s and it's all done.
I'm facing a problem, that is even when I disable auto-rotate from display settings, it still keeps rotating the phone. (In settings menu, and everywhere else unless I disable auto rotate in some app but most don't even have the auto rotate setting and follow the default settings, which is set to disable but is still on for some reason)
Basically I want to disable auto rotate permanently. I do not ever need it.
Any idea how to do this? There must be a way. This is really a deal breaker for me for this rom and it's the first custom rom i've installed on my phone.
This bug is known about Fallout. There is no fix.
You can try a newer Sense 4 ROM (like Nik Project X)

Not making a lot of sense there.
I understand ROM loyalty and am convinced that fallout is a great ROM and one which I want to stick with. However, your experience of never having had a certain problem does not mean that you can say it doesn't exist.

2 ppl are flashing the same rom, but only 1 is experiencing the problem, where do u think the problem lies.
Rom dev are not able to fix the problem if they are not experiencing it.

You may have a point but it isn't valid in this case as the problem started two months after the installation.
Actually I lean to the feeling that this is not a problem with the ROM but I'm finding it interesting that I have now found several people mentioning this problem associated with this ROM - so I'm now seeking clarification, which is not really helped by apparently automatic denial that a problem exists by people who have no knowledge of it.

My desire s with stock rom is experiencing some issue, i called htc up, tech told me to do a factory reset, hey that solve the problem, but wait, i dont think that should be the solution, ROLL OUT ANOTHER OTA!!!
Same case here, just do a fresh clean install, with backup apps and data. If after 2 months it happen again, then come back and report. Or you expecting fallout v6, which in my case i dont mind :victory: in xda new roms are always welcome.
The dev or someone with expertise needs to experience the issue for you to have clarification, if non are having u only get assumptions from people who are not knowledgeable enuf.

So following your advice I did a totally clean install and the problem was still with me - so I figured it was a problem with the phone. Just to be sure I installed a different ROM and the problem was gone. That suggests to me, regretably, that it is problem with this ROM. Why it should happen to some people and not others is a bit of a mystery.
I felt it was both arrogant and ignorant of me to give feedback with a diiferent Rom on my phone, so I decided to flash fallout before making a reply since I had the zip on my pc. Never like going back to older roms, always going for the newer ones.
And result is, rotation works. No issue here. On and it rotates, with the phone still tilted I off and it went back to vertical without me tilting it back.
Sad that this Rom is having issue with your phone.
