Hello everybody..
I just did the app to SD procedure on JF 1.5, and it seems to work quite well. Thanks to JF and Haykuro for the great work by the way !
I had troubles formatting my SD card though, which led to many freezes.
Because of that, I don't feel the symlink very secure.. Wouldn't it be safer to use mount to bind /system/sd/app on /data/app if the ext2 partition is mounted ?
This way, even if there is no SD or if the SD has no ext2 partition the folder stays valid and can still be read/written to.
Or would the system crash anyway because the expected apps aren't present ?
I don't have enough free time to write a proper script that does the checking and mounting right now, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
Working on something similar, but infinitely more powerful.
EDIT: getting help from JF and MartinFick as well.

This sounds promising, any more details you can give us? Is this an app? or a script?
Trying to use unionfs to literally meld the ext2 partition with the /data directory rather than replacing it with a symlink. However, this requires rooting around in init.rc which might be a problem for Haykuro's ROM so will take some work.
I am getting an error message when I am trying to install apps from Market. I am getting the error message, " Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item". But I have over 13 gbs of space left. Can someone please help?
I have the same problem
You need to repartition your sdcard with clockwork to 2048 and 0

Hi,
Are you saying that you're having this problem on a Droid Incredible phone?
If so, I think that the comments here about re-partitioning are with respect to the Viewsonic G Tablet, but not sure how or if they apply to a Droid Incredible phone.
If it's not about a Droid Incredible phone, then what's involved is installing CWM 0.8 on the Gtab, then booting with power and Vol+ button pressed, which will boot you into CWM. Then, using CWM, select Advanced, then partition, then set the partition sizes to 2048 and 0 (for /system and swap, I think). Doing this will wipe out EVERYTHING. So, then, reboot, and use CWM to install your rom/firmware.
Jim
Hello, yes, a droid incredible. I found your forum by searching for this error message. I wonder what the problem is and what the fix is for my phone, such annoying problem...

Hi,
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
For the Gtabs, when they get into this situation ('no more space', even though there's plenty of space), the "theory" is that something gets mucked up with the partitions, and so the suggestion is to use CWM to re-partition.
The reason that I say "the theory" is that I don't know if anyone has actually diagnosed exactly what is wrong (I say "I don't know", but actually, I haven't spent much time searching for an answer myself).
For your Droid Incredible, you may have the same problem (something mucked up with the partitions), but I don't know if there's a CWM or equivalent tool that works on Droid Incredible.
Sorry.
Jim
P.S. If you have root and a terminal app, maybe try starting the term app, su, then try to do a "df" and see what it says. That should tell you the amount of space on different mount points. I've never (thank goodness) run into this problem, but I've always been curious if a "df" would show 0% on something.
Hello!
I've got the clockworkmod installed in my O3D. But i'm getting a problem with the rom installed! When i installed it everything was ok..but know my cellphone is loosing features.. :'(.
The first thing that stopped to work was the Camara...It stopped filming in 3D and 2D in full HD. Now when i turn the phone to the horizontal position to see the photos or the music player it wont work.
My rom when the phone starts, appear an Apple and then the Android appears with a hat and a mustache and get the apple out of the screen.
I've tried to make the recovery by Clock work mod, but it says that no files have been founded...
Can anyone help me? I'm really noob on this stuff.
Thank you!
Download a new rom and follow the instructions for installing
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
Thanks for your reply
Can you post the link for a tutorial for "How to install a new Rom?"
I've got the clock world mod 5.0.2.0 with super user installed.
stand by documentation use cwm v5 for gio particle
But have documentation(clarity issues) with the formatting part
sd-ext (force ext2 formatting ?)
how to format an existing partition ext3
and more important how to format partition ext4
The formatting issue is very confusing over the internet:
ext4 via private command file ??? what tools are needed ???
how does a2sd react on existing just formatted partition ?
is the rest automatic ???
conflicting messages on use of app2sd
conflicting messages on use of link2sd
conflicting messages on use of a2sdGUI
can or can't we use them
is the connection authomatic
This is mail I sent to Link2sd developer
Help me, please!
I have an error call mount warning at boot. Link2sd mount 2nd partition sd card before the scanning media is finished. Once I reboot device I meet mount warning nortification. And I have to use Quick reboot function of Link2sd in oder to mount 2nd partition sd card successfully.
Thank you very much!
Sorry for my bad english
And they reply (thanks them)
Hi,
New Samsung Gingerbread roms do not have install-recovery.sh and init.d scripts to mount 2nd partition at boot.
Therefore Link2SD mounts the 2nd partition after system finishes mounting and you need to perform "Quick reboot" after each "real boot".
But there are some ways of adding this missing scripts to the ROM, search for the internet.
Regards,
Bulent
But I had tried to find in the internet but nothing that i've found
Who can help me??? Thanks a lots
Hello friends,
I'm from Brazil, so I used the google translator to send this message, I'm sorry for that.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini Gingerbread with 2.3.4 installed and latest version of Link2sd, but every time I turn on my phone it can not mount the partition EXT2 and asked to give a quick reboot to mount the partition.
Is there any method to fix this?
Thank you.

Hi guys
I have a little problem and maybe some of you also have it.
First i own a xt1541 8GB
On Lollipop i use link2sd (payed app) and i'm very happy.
Now on MM i cannot use it cause it cannot make mount point. allready tried with apps2sd but on reboot it wont work again.
Also on MM external sdcard is no longer sdcard1 but something like xxxx-xxxx. Tried create a symlink with name sdcard1 pointing to xxxx-xxxx but on reboot the symlink is erased.
I saw this kind of trick on Huawei honor 4c marshmallow stock rom.
With that symlink link2sd shows me sdcard space available, thing that without it it shows nothing.
Does anyone has a solution for this?
same here
Same here I can't make it to work on marshmallow.
Adaptable storage option build in the system really needs work. It still uses internal storage anyway causing problems when too much apps installed.
Probably a solution
Hey, I had the same problem as you, but I think that I solved this... at last in my phone. I don't know if it will work for you too and I'm not capable of explain details, since I'm new in this world of rooted cellphones, but I'll try my best.
First I tried another similar app called App2sd to check if it was a problem with my phone or with Link2sd only. And that app properly mounted the 2nd partition of my sd card. After that I opened Link2sd and my 2nd partition was mounted there too. But after rebooting the system, Link2sd was not working again, my sd was not mounted. I understood that Link2sd was having a problem in mounting my card at boot. Then I remembered that I read here in another forum (androidforums.com) that Link2sd need that your cellphone has init.d support to work. I donwloaded an app called Universal init.d and tested if my cell has that support, and it has. That app has an option of automatic execute scripts at each boot if you turn it ON, then I did it. Now Link2sd is working 100%. Sorry about the poor explanation, but I hope that it can help someone.

use Apps2SD PRO: All in One Tool - Android Apps on Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd.pro&hl=en
use latest version.
Enjoy
Unfortunately it does not work, the 2 partition cannot be mounted
Link2sd is working with the apps2sd installed and it's partition mount script..
Where is the dev of link2sd?
I've paid to have it working and it isn't.

Has anyone come up with a fix for this annoying problem of sdcard1 getting renamed in mm roms? I notice that not all mm roms do this like Temasek's.
