HI guys can you help me with problem.
I can see all my photos and movies on my phone via dlna on WIndows 7,
and i can play and pause it right on the phone, I can use my phone as a remote,
all works well.
But I cant find the same thing for OSX,
i can only share files from my Imac, i cant use it just as a screen like on a PC.
Does anyone know how can i solve this mystery?
I have HTC Sensation,
Tnx,
Marko
Well first off, are you running any DLNA or UPnP app on your Mac? You'll need one. Some good examples are Playback, Rivet, Plex, Connect360.
I'm not too familiar with the Sensation, but does it include or have a DLNA client built in?
yes i have connected media, it works fine with windows

Hello. I fount, that I can serve the media content from android phone through Twonky server to my PC. But I want retrograde app - the android DNLA media CLIENT - to play the streamed video or audio on my Android phone - from my PC media library.
Any idea?
Thanx!!!

I don't know much about Android...
...but I'm interested in getting an android phone, probably the HTC Desire.
Can't you just link your phone into your home network, like I've done with my WM6.5 phone? That way, you can just browse to the relevant media folder on your network from your phone and play the file via the relevant app on your phone. I do that for video and music on my WM phone.
Or does Android not allow you to link into a PC network?
Linking to a PC network over SMB/CIFS is not straightforward AFAIK:
You can browse and copy files with applications such as ES File Explorer, but that is not integrated into the file system for all applications. And You can use xyflash to stream from the network using certain protocols such as http and ftp, but not in a very user friendly way.
I'd love to see something being able to browse and stream using DNLA/UPNP or mount a SMB path in the android file system, but I haven't seen it yet. Though the latter may be possible if you device is rooted, I haven't checked that out...
Are you looking for something like AndroMote, or to go the other way around?

Just saw this post; I've been using this for a while (originally just to test it) it works well with my Buffalo Linkstation's Media server.
As I can see, there is no news about video dnla app client - only audio is possible now :/

Not necessarily.... If you have a UPnP server on your PC (TVersity, Playon, etc...) you can use PlugPlayer (plugplayer . com) as your client...
I've spent some time recently to look for a UPnP stack solution for android, so perhaps my exploration can be of use.
I found out that EyeconTroller is a nice media renderer. I only tested audio but EyeconTroller is supposed to handle videos as well.
I've tested it with two android devices: the first one runs iMediashare (media server), the second one runs EML UPnP-AV Controlpoint to act as a remote controller, and EyeconTroller runs on both devices. Using EML I was able to stream from iMediashare to EyeconTroller on both devices.
Next step is to stream from my linux box, but i don't expect any issue here (granted it is on the same subnet, which it is not for now), considering that EML discovered the iMediashare and all EyeconTroller instances without problem.
Note that for now EyeconTroller is free but might not always be (see eyecontec site).
I have a lcd tv samsung C550, they have dlna with name 'allshare', they can display music, photos and messages, but I think this only work with galaxy S, would be nice if any android phone can send text message to tv.
skifta is a great dlna client
i search for a audio only dlna client, they are all audio and video and i just want a small case to plug to my audio mixer.. without any drive i wan't to stream music directly from my phone as i can do on my tv with any NAS and skifta.
So I was wondering if there was a way to stream my pictures and videos from my Mac to my Transformer. I have google music for my music so that isn't really an issue, however I'd like to be able to hook my tablet to any tv and view the pictures on my Mac. I know it's probably easier done over LANwifi but it'd be nice if I could do it anywhere.
I assume once I get my mini hdmi cable it will be easy to hook it up to the TV, but getting the media is where I am stuck.
I use Subsonic (http://www.subsonic.org) to stream all my music and video's to my phone and tablet (or any other device)...
The server can be a mac, you can access your media via the web or via an android, iphone, pc widget/app... there is a lot out there...
It doesn't support image viewing (by default), but there is a mod which enables picture viewing support...
You can take a look at http://media.schattorie.nl, apps are available in the market...
does it cost monthly?
So I just got Plex, seems to work thus far. 4.99 for the app and the server on my mac is a free d/l. Just need to see if it works over 3g now...
What im trying to do is to get my ps3 to connect to my androids as media servers. I am NOT looking for an app that connects to media servers- there are a ton of those on the market. I keep ALL my music on my android devices. I would like for them to BE the media server. Though, it seems there are few apps that do this.
I tried "Remote media!" From the market. It works up to the point where I go to listen to an mp3, then times out. Otherwise, my ps3 can connect to my android and display all the right folders. But there are some bugs with actually streaming the content. Didn't get it to stream once on either of my devices.
Does anyone know of such an app? Thanks for your help!
If your device has DLNA capabilities, you can use iMedia share from the market.

I tried media, though it wasn't locating my media and seemed to be a bit bulky of an app with all the options of websites to stream to your tv. I mightily it again in a few, but really lookingbfor a simple clean app. I wish remote media would work.
Twonky Mobile - very bulky though.

Share Me - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sygem.android.shareme_free Worked okay from what I remember, but I didn't buy as I have all my stuff on my Nas - was just testing it out.
share me and remote media seem to work up to thebexact same point- until I click Olay. so this might indicate an issue that I can fix. But what issue? Upnp seems enabled on all devices. what else?
Any help?
Look out for an app called media server or something like this from Sony Ericsson. You won't find it in the market because it's one of the preinstalled apps on the Arc.
It has dlna capabilities too and worked for me when I tried to connect with my PC

blarghle!
Im very frustrated. It seems this works properly, but there is some upnp error as far as I can guess.
I have newest firmware for router,
Enabled upnp on ps3,
Servers are running on EVO/jetstream,
Ps3 shows all folders, files, and even images from the gallery,
Images show with no problem,
When playing an mp3, it says data is corrupt, when it is not.
Halp >_>
I've exhausted my savvy knowledge to this point...
Hi. Try Skifta. It works well for me!
Check it in Android Market.

Air sync
Android device and PS3/Xbox need to be on the same wifi source.
Run air sync and you can share media to anything pretty much. Here ya go.

Ok everyone something new that I am trying to setup, something to the effect of a home media streaming server.
The server it self is a laptop intel i5 6gb ram win 7 connected to tv via HDMI, I used this to play netflix, torrents, ect and basically cut off my cable bill.
What I would like to do now is to stream the video/audio via wifi to other android devices that are connected to other tv's through out the house.
for the client side, I will be useing MK802 II android 4.0. connected via HDMI,
question to everyone is ... Has anyone else already accomplish this? and can you give any pointers. I know I can simply share files, ect but I want to sync the video signal to the other televisions so If a video is on in the living room , the same exact video is playing in the kitchen.
And being I want to do this via Android Im here at xda to pick some brains
Thank you in advance
Search at playstore for bubleUpNp

I have a Gentoo server, where I installed Mediatomb and UShare. I have also set-up some custom VLC to help my ISP xDSL box doing some stuff.
My expensive Samsung TV can see both services, and read movies over network.
I also have a wonderfull HTC Sensation with Android, and installed Upnplay, MediaHouse, and BubbleUpnp, and all three can read files from the phone, either on the phone screen, or on the TV; but none can see my Gentoo server to read movies from there.
How to make my phone read movies from the Gentoo ? take files on the Gentoo, and show them on the screen of the phone.
How to make the phone play files to the Linux server ? The phone can send output to the TV, but now I want my phone to output to my computer (this is not for the same phone, or same network: this project is at an other place).
NFS does not work very well on Android, and Samba APK has many issues, so I am now trying DLNA.
