[Q] How to link facebook photos to contacts with Android 2.3 gingerbread?

Can someone please tell me how to link my facebook or skype photos to cantacts on android 2.3 gingerbread. I have an HTC HD2 with a NAND rom on it.

join the contacts first then edit contact and tap on the foto either facebook or skype and select "use this photo"

Hi Korvinc. The thing is actually how to join the contacts? It easy to change the photo but how do I actually join my contacts with facebook and skype contacts?

Open contact > choose edit from option menu > choose join from the option menu. that's I mean.
Or I actually don't understand what you need.

Have you tried downloading the Facebook for Android by Facebook?
Go to your Settings > Accounts and Sync > Add Facebook account
Sync your contact with existing friends or all friends then that should link them if their email info matches with their contacts in your Google Contacts address book.

Guys i figured it out. On gingerbread just go to the contact u want to link and go to edit, once u in that window hit the menu button again, the link option should pop up aswell as the unlink option.

Thanks so much. Even guys at Verizon store couldn't figure how to link with gingerbread (called to 'join' now).

[Q] Facebook contact syncing

All right so heres the deal:
With my Fascinate and Droid 1, I was able to sync up the contacts I WANTED to (manually) with Facebook, and the rest wouldn't show up in my address book. Well, HTC Sense has the account you link up, and it matched people automatically, cool, I'm fine with that. However, it dumped EVERYONE that was on my fb into my address book, not cool. So I went in, hid the fb people, no biggie, thought it was done with.
Not so. When I go to compose a text or email, it still shows me EVERYONE on fb who has a # on there, which I DON'T want. Is there any way to manually link the people I DO want, but not have it link EVERYONE ???? I've unchecked link people from the account settings, but as soon as I link one person manually, it dumps all the #'s on there. Its rather frustrating....any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

when you first install fb it asks you if you wants contact sync for all contacts our only ones on your phone.. mightve picked the wrong one.

That's for Facebook app syncing, which is different.
I'm talking about Facebook for Sense syncing.
But that option does the same thing to my contact list, dumps my #s in there

Try going into people/view/ and un-check facebook for sense.

Did that. Removes them from People view, but composing a new text displays all my fb contacts who have their numbers on there. It's really annoying.....

go into people-menu-view and pick the contacts you want to view or just manually sync the people you want by clicking the contact and picking them on facebook. thats what i did.

I'm feel he has it set to sync with ALL contacts, not sync with existing contacts.

@albotz: I just tried deleting the HTC fb account. I readded it. It automagically started syncing ALL the contacts to the phone book. If you uncheck the sync contacts button, it just goes and resyncs them anyway.
If they aren't in your address book, try composing a message, and then you will see ALL your contacts, yours + the people with a phone number listed on fb, from the available contacts you can choose to send a text to.
@g00s3y: I'm not an idiot, I assure you its set to sync with existing, but after I try to manually sync a contact, it just syncs EVERYONE. I go back to check the app, and its mysteriously changed itself to "sync all contacts"

Don't use Facebook for HTC then, use the Facebook app, which is available off market. The apps do virtually the same thing

I was looking for some way how to add the fb chat into the gtalk. (because I think other IM are too battery cosumption to be always online)
I did not found the solution but I found a solution how to add ICQ using the ICQ transport. (inspiration) This made a huge mess in my contacts btw
There are also XMPP transports for the XMPP protocol - you can use it for FB because FB is also available through XMPP.
And the best thing is that the newly added FB contacts are added into the different group ("Buddies" instead of "General"). This is in the contact list shown as "Other contacts" on gmail.com webpage (easy to remove).
The new contacts are automaticly joined with your synchronized FB contact in your phone
Steps to get fb chat through gtalk:
1) Install IM PSI or similar (http://psi-im.org/download)
2) Add XMPP account "[email protected],com" (gtalk account), login and go online
3) Click on "General/Service discovery" and into the address put "j2j.jabber.org.by" (wish other service? http://www.jabberes.org/servers/)
4) Right button click on the "XMPP j2j Transport" and click "Register"
- jabberid: "[email protected]"
- Password: your fb password
5) Click "Register"
6) Add and auth everything

You can also use this for MSN! I've done it ages ago and now I have all my contacts in one place and can be online 24/7. Gtalk is the most battery-friendly IM app, imho. Thanks for the guide!

yes, there is a lot of useful XMPP transports available
Writting this: "Jabber/XMPP Server List" into the google (first link) it is possible to see list of servers and its transports. Use it means add contacts into your google-contact list. I dont like it. I was pleasantly surprised that the FB contacts are joined

I have this all set up, slowly working through changing the names from the random numbers to the person's name. One thing though, it doesn't let me join a Facebook group chat through Google Talk. Any suggestions on how to make that work?

Part I (Intro)
What Is Google+ ?
Google+ is a new social network just like Facebook or Myspace (Tom is the only one there). Currently Google+ is ONLY available to certain people who have invitations from other memebers in Google+. In other words you can only join by being invited. Google+ is like having Twitter & Facebook both together. Obviously right now it is not over populated like both Twitter & Facebook are.

Part III (Adding The Sanchos & Sanchas)
How Do You Add Your Friends To Google+?
1st. Make sure you have your friends Gmail Adress in your Gmail contacts account or atleast on your mobile phone under their contacts.
Ex.(NEW CONTACT FORMAT) From Gmail ---> Go to www.google.com ---> click on Gmail (or search for "Gmail Log-In" on Yahoo,Bing,Google etc.) ---> Click "Contacts" ---> Click "Add To My Contacts" --->Type YOUR Contacts Name (ex. Banana) and click enter ---> Your Contact Should Be Saved ---> Scroll down until you see your contact and click on their name and a new windwo should pop up ---> where it says "Email" add their email their and then click enter.
Ex.(EDIT EXISTING CONTACT FORMAT) ---> Go to www.google.com ---> click on Gmail (or search for "Gmail Log-In" on Yahoo,Bing,Google etc.) ---> Click "Contacts" ---> Scroll down to select your contact. ---> Click on the contact you want to select or edit ---> A new window should pop up ---> Where it says "Email" just add their email there.
2nd. Go to your Google+ Profile.
3rd. Click On Circles.
4th. Click on the "Drop here to create a new circle".
5th. Name it WHATEVER YOU LIKE. Then click enter to save it.
Ex. Friends, Family, Friends w/ Benifits (Lol) etc.
6th. Click on the first square where it says "Add a new person"
7th. Type/Paste the persons email. (WHO EVER YOU WANT TO ADD). Then click enter.
8th. By now the person you added should appear their either by Name or Email. CLICK, DRAG & DROP the person of your choice to the circle you want to add them too.
9th. Now click the little house icon and go "Home" to your profile. This is where you will invite your friends to join Google+. Look at the example provided & MAKE SURE YOU DO IT EXACTLY AS IS OR IT WONT WORK!.
Ex. Hey Jorge Acosta [email protected]
Join Google Plus.
9th. A) You NEED to know the persons FIRST & LAST name & PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO IT EXACTLY LIKE THE EXAMPLE PROVIDED! JUST REPLACE THE NAME AND EMAIL ADRESS.
10th. Click enter and thats it!
ALLOW 30+ TO 24HRS FOR THIS TO BE PROCEED!
How do I search for existing friends on Google+?
On your home page there's this search box. It says "Find Friends"... Yup that easy. LOL!
How do i use Google+?
(I) Adding A Comment.
THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE YET!
(II) Adding Photos & Everything Else:
Go to your profile! Or Just click your photo. Then look for the tab where it says "Edit Profile". It should be Blue.
Then a red/orange bar should pop up.
Click on anything you want to change nor edit.
After your done then just click where it says "Done Editing".
And thats it.
(II) Editing Your Setting:
On the right hand top side corner there should be a settings icon.
Just click on it and scroll down to "Google+ Settings".
- Account Overview:
Here you cane change your passwords or add multiple google account sign-ins and alot of other important things.
- Profile & Privacy:
This is very straight forward and simple. Here you can edit all your profile privacy stuff. Nothing Much to explain.
- Google+
Here you can edit your Notifications and choose whether you want to receive them in both SMS nor Email. You can also add an edit what email you want to use to receive your notifications.
- Language:
Choose thelanguage you speak. Everything will be display in this language.
- Data liberation:
Here you basicly do a back up of all the data you want either from Google+ or the available services.
- Connected Accounts:
Here you can add accounts from other websites such as FB or Twitter. That way you can connect easier with people to see what you guys have in common. It tells you right there what it does lol.
What is sparks?
Sparks is basicly just news about the topics you select. if you like it you can share it in you profile. Not really sure about this feauture. Just know its news period. lol.
For further info you can always click on the "Welcome" tab in your home page.

[Q] I HATE facebook contacts, how to remove them?

I apologize for the profanities in advance, but I'm really pissed off!
I avoid the facebook app like the plague, because once you turn it on it infects the entire phone. However, yesterday I was group-pressured into to checking something out on fb, so I installed it, and set up my account. I clicked in !!!!!!!!DO NOT SYNC ANYTHING!!!!!!!! only to notice that in about 10 minutes, fb took a big ****ing diarrhea right into my contacts lists.
Now I have around 1000 contacts in my phone, 98% of whom I will never call in my entire life. All contact pictures have been changed from the google image to the fb-image, and whats even more disturbing, is that when I make a call to a person with a facebook account, I see his fb-status or last wall-post in the dialer! WHY?! Why would I want to see this?!
I realize that clicking DO NOT SYNC ANYTHING doesn't matter, because HTC Sense ignores this and syncs everything anyway under "accounts". But I realized this too late and walked straight into the trap like a complete idiot. Now its too late, my phone is infected by the facebook diarrhea, and even if I remove the fb syncing in "Accounts", I have all the contacts left.
My question is, is there any way to remove all contacts, besides those in google, without doing a complete nandroid restore? (Im on stock sense.)

How can I fix this and remove or hide my facebook contacts?

It should be in settings, accounts. There should be sync options there for all of you're accounts linked to the phone.

Just uncheck "Sync Contacts", and restart your phone.
Or....
From inside the facebook app
1. Press the menu key (the three dots that no one likes)
2. Select "settings" (the sprocket)
3. All the way at the bottom is an option called "Sync Contacts", select this.
4. Select the option "Remove Facebook Data".
5. Then select "sync" in the upper right-hand corner.
This should remove this facebook info from your contacts list only...

Im logged into facebook and have it set to NOT sync. The facebook contacts dont show up in my phone contacts but when i go to send an email or manually type in someones name to call them the facebook contacts still show up!
i want to be able to be logged into facebook without having to log back in but i dont want to see my facebook friends in my phone contacts like... any advice?

Suggestion. Go to contacts. Click CONTACTS tab>settings> "find people you know" uncheck, "suggest contact link" uncheck also
This should solve it.
Also to show only people with phone number select "only with phone numbers" in the above same screen

Thanks for the help but it didn't do anything. As of right now I dont see my contacts from facebook in my address book since i've set the settings on that already but sadly if i go to manually dial a number those same facebook contacts still show up. same with emails. i guess ill just have to log in and out of facebook each time so they stop showing up. its a pain in the butt... i've accidentally text messaged/emailed people i never speak to thanks to this.

Don't use the facebook app and the facebooks friends won't show up. I use the browser to access facebook and its the same thing.
