Best Clockwork version? - HTC Desire S

Actually i have ClockworkMod 3.0.2.4 (installed via Rom Manager), replacing v 4.0.0.4 custom from AlpharevX.
The better one for Desire S is the official one or the AlpharevX custom version?

Try

Previous backup are compatible with this recovery?

The particularity of 4EXTRecovery is apparently the EXT4 partition support, but what is it ?
How is stock Desire S partitionned and what are the bennifits to change it ?

Yep, they should be.
Although I'd suggest that you take a new one once it's installed, no harm in being super careful.

What is the best way of flashing an custom Rom?
S-off your device and flash a recovery, then download a rom and install it wih recovery
Best recovey: 4ext beta 2.2.6

Don't forget to root your phone after S-offing.
It's be important for flashing a custom rom
+1 for the recovery
If he install a custom rom.it ll be already rooted
Unless he install a ruu
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
Exactly, that's what I'm writing.
he must be S-off with RUU rom, and root too, without problem. It's more practice to making all operations in the same time.
But he said that he want to flash a custom rom, so he must be:
1 - S-off
2 - Root
3- Nand backup (more important)
4 - Flash rom custom
Our posts are complementary

Revolutionnary patch, do a quick search and you'll find link easily.
Oh come on
Nandroid backup is useless
I bought my ds and s-offed it directly
No nandroid
No root zip
When you install a recovery, you don t need nandroid unless you want to install a ruu
He want to install a rom,so if the rom is breaked, there is no problem.downloading it again,he can reflash it.
The only thing that is necessary, it s the recovery.with this you can do anything

Did you flash the gapps right after the rom flashing?
Try to install them separately.
First install the rom then let it boot, set some things up and let it idle for some couple of minutes.
Then reboot and install the gapps.
That's how I usually do.

Well I think the 4EXT Recovery Touch is just a much nicer experience. It's slick, simple, but does so much.
I flashed gapps directly after CM9 ROM with no problems at all. After a factory reset/wipe in 4EXT Recovery Touch. Haven't had a problem there. Don't know about CM10.

Do you use Superwipe ?
AOSP rom does not support Superwipe tool.
You shold go Wipe factory data / Wipe Cache menu to do dual wipe.
Hope that helps you

if the issue is only with the boot loop stuck image then....
Just extract the boot image from the ROM zip file and place it in the adb folder on the OS partition then use fast boot commands to push the boot image to the device. it should work, worked for me.:good:

It's normal, because to install updated from HTC you need stock recovery. If you really want the update(latest has sense 3.6) you should flash stock recovery.
I suggest you try some custom ROMs, they are much better than stock in every possible way. Try ViperS and you won't get disappointed. It has sense 4.1 and sense 4.5 components with android 4.04
Edit: To flash Viper you need 4ext recovery

You can get 4ect recovery here or even on the market. Once you download the app just follow the instructions. If your s off do NOT enable smart flash, that's only for s on. It's pretty straight forward. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
