[Q] Best current android phone with custom roms available - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi all,
a friend is just about to buy his first android phone and was looking at the galaxy s 2. After checking the sgs2 forum i notice that there are few custom roms available- so what are the best current android phones with custom roms available?

SGS II is considered new and still not even released in the US. I'm sure once it will there will be many ROMs available for it.
It is a fantastic device and I highly recommend to buy it anyway.
CM7 released a nightly build for SGS II lately. Cognition is my current recommendation.

Best rom for T-Mobile Vario?

Quite a few roms ive seen here are taken from some pre-release test build thats then been hacked to work. Not the best way.
Anyone know of the best rom for a T-Mobile Vario, ideally based on an official rom just for cleanness. Thanks

[Q] Please help me choose verizon phone

going to update my galaxy to new phone
i should be
Android
LTE
virtual keyboard
qHD minimum
lots of custom stable ROMs
i found 2 phones droid bionic, that is very cheap, can get it for $50 and galaxy nexus, that is expensive but have better screen resolution and 32 gb. ICS does not give much benefits.
main question STABLE custom ROM. all ROMs for galaxy fascinate was less stable than original 2.1
and easy flashable, no software required like odin to flash modem.(in samsung galaxy gsm modem canbe flashed via CMW, but not in fascinate)
thanks.
Reading will tell you all you need to know. Just an FYI all custom rooms will beta and be known to have bugs. This is due to developers always trying something new.

[Q] ICS ROM for Samsung Galaxy S

Hi Forum
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 which is out of warranty. As is known to most, Samsung is most likely not going to come out with an ICS upgrade to this model.
I live in India and travel frequently to the UK, and am therefore looking for a stable ICS ROM that will work on my phone and render the phone usable in India and the UK. I did try with a Cynogen Mod 9 ROM for the i9000 which worked in the UK, but the moment I landed in India, the SIM refused to register with the GSM network in India. My IMEI number also changed when I flashed my phone with this ROM.
Currently, my phone was brought back to a working condition with a Samsung Android 2.1 ROM, but this ROM is really bad and makes my phone freeze frequently.
I am looking forward to some advice from the XDA Forum members to point me to a stable ICS ROM that I can download and flash my phone with, so that the phone works in India.

There are no stable ICS roms for GS2 yet (at least from Cyanogenmod) but they have a gingerbread one (which is better than the 2.1 you have ;P )
Here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxys2
Anyway, I suggest you stay out of ICS until they make a stable ROM. Port only if you can help develop it
Thanks For the reply. However, I am looking for an update for the Galaxy S. I do not have an S2. My Galaxy S has been sparingly used and I think it has at least a year left in it.

Ooooops I'm really sorry about that. here's the link for the stable CM7 build for the Galax S:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxysmtd
I suggest you use this for the mean time while waiting for the ICS Cyanogen
I would prefer that you use the rom from team icssgs RC4.2 (4.0.3)

I had cyanogen mod 7 installed but was not very happy with it.
So try it out.
Faryaab is also doing a good job. You should check this out : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1628028
I tried ICS Custom Rom from Darky. It worked fine to my SGS1 without any problem. You can try it.
But I already changed to the latest one Jellybean Custom Rom from C-Rom Bean. I find this better in terms of graphics and Google applications.

[Q] Custom 4.04 Roms on rooted unlocked galaxy LTE

At the risk of ridicule, here goes; I just changed from DX running Liberty Rom to the latest Galaxy Nexus LTE from Verizon running the latest IC. I can't seem to find a custom rom compatible with this device. I've attempted "codename android" 1.5.5 and 1.6. to no avail. I like the APEX but don't think it's compatible with my OS. Looking for a good compatible rom further customize.
Thanks!
Well, after absolutely no help from the forum, I figured it out on my own. I guess most here forget that they too were noobs at one time. I'll try to be a little more helpful than what I've received this far.

[Q] updating a samsung galazy s2

Hello everyone, I'm new here so if this is in the wrong place forgive me. I am interested in getting a samsung galaxy s2( im with tmobile if that is important) and updating to the latest version of android. Is that something that is possible for someone who is not knowledgeable in hacking a phone to any degree? If needed, I suppose I can find someone who knows what they are about and pay for the OS update. I just want to know if it would be worth it to buy the galaxy s2 and even try to update the software. In short, I don't need the latest and greatest in terms of hardware, but I did want the latest android version. Thanks in advance.

Hi
Samsung galaxy s2 is worth the buy but unfortunately its stuck with the 4.1.2 jellybean update officially
However you can always get the latest android version using custom roms
I am runing the latest android 4.3.1 version using the cyanogenmod 10.2 custom rom without any problems(t mobile variant also has the latest cyanogenmod 10.2)
And the advantage of the custom roms are they are way better than stock roms that come with the phone and have unlimited tweaking options
You can always do it yourself cause it is so easy and you can find many tutorials here in the xda forums and you can also find someone who deals with the custom roms and get you with the latest update
Good day
