Its designed for Honeycomb, has a nice UI and seems to work really well. It has great widgets as well.
Bump,
nobody else tried this yet?
Its a great alternative to the stock music player, I especially like the 3x7 widget.
are there any other good Honeycomb optimized music apps out there?
I tried it but had the same problem I had with the stock player... When my display times out, the music stops playing at the end of the current song and doesn't continue going through the playlist. When I hit a button, it starts playing again. Back to Winamp for me...
Looks very nice. Will certainly give this ago when I have a chance.

Hey, I'm on the road a lot, and I was wondering if there are any music apps that have visualizations like the live wallpapers, or just cool stuff that goes with the beat of the music. I remember the ps1 had some pretty cool visuals, maybe something like that. There are a couple things on the market, but they suck, and don't go with the music. Anyone recommend something sweet?
The default music player does have a music visualizer when you tap the album art and also there are a couple of live wallpaper ones. Are you looking for something like iTunes visualizer?

Man, I didn't know the default music player had that. Thanks! And when you long press it goes to full screen.
As a follow up to this thread, let's determine the most popular music player.
Lithium the best
MediaScape not included in the list.
Thread moved to D&H Android General.
Sadly, I think the stock player is the best one yet. The volume rocker and trackball controls are a nice feature. Plus, it just looks nice having the album art as a black and white background while selecting a song.
I have tried several of the more popular players and found them to be fairly ugly and plain.
I remember reading somewhere that most media players dont even have their own audio support, they just use the default/built in audio engine of the regular player anyway...
Stock is working best and with the device controls for me right now.
Subsonic ..... It allows me to have all my music without trying to fit it on my phone

Streamfurious, as I don't really use local mp3s.
Stock music player is so primitive it cannot be the best. Maybe most popular if it's good enough for many people, but I think some other players in this poll are better.

There are many competing streaming music apps (btw Rdio opened to public today). Should make a separate poll for them.
MortPlayer
I've used MixZing, MusicMod, doubleTwist and Meridian
So the conclusion is ... inconclusive. The stock music player seems to be bad enough so that people are trying out other players, but there are no clear winner among non-stock players yet.
Default stock Sense music player is best to me.
I personally prefer RealPlayer. Currently it's in the Market in Beta stage. But it's incredibly clean looking, and easy to use. Plus, I don't have to put my music, video, or pictures in set locations on the SDCard. I can put everything where I want without loss of speed.
I like the stock player on my Captivate.. but for me it lacks lockscreen control and scrobbling. I have been trying other free ones that fit my needs, and may settle on 3 (cubed) for awhile.
(From my Captivate via XDA app)
Id personaly love to see winamp, been using it for years and think its great.
HTC Stock because I don't really listen to mp3s on the phone (ipod), Retro Radio for streams
I am looking for an Android player that is pretty simple but i do not see why its so hard to find?
All I want is something that lets me play MP3's.. that does not scan the entire device (ringtones always seem to show up and I dont want them to)
something that kinda roots itself on the SD Card in a folder like "Music"
with a nice home screen
AND
somethign that will resume the next time it's open. for some reason the media player that comes with my Captivate seems to wants me to start all over when i dont use it for 30 min or so..
simple?
thanks for the advise

PowerAMP. It's in the market, and has a really nice EQ setup in addition to what you're talking about. It's in beta right now.

thank you, Downloading and testing this now. I will keep you posted on my impression!
There is one in alpha
Try this one. It pulls data in from the music folder and allows for pause, fast forward and rewind. However it is still in alpha...
Meridian player has most of the features you are after such as Folder browsing and resuming Videos. Plus it has decent widget also

+1 for Power Amp
Player pro does the folder playing and is very simple, got some nice widget aswell
MortPlayer is another nice light alternative that meets your criteria. There is also a version of MortPlayer specifically for audiobooks that allows you to make bookmarks in your sound files.
I actually use both PowerAMP and MortPlayer: PowerAMP for general music listening and it's very pretty UI, and MortPlayer for listening to long recordings of lectures so that I can consistently come back to where I left off.
hello am i missing something out. Not had time to try out the stock media player on the sensation yet for long periods. But what i have found is this. If i play a track half way threw and stop close the media player next time i go back to media player the track starts from the start not the possion i left it. this is the same with videos too.
Is there something i need to check in a box ? or do i need a new app player for all media files ? if so whats best and free freee free.

Can't really help with your specific issue but can help with player recommendations. Moboplayer and rock player are both free and pretty good, my preference is Moboplayer though.
Mine does that too looked everywhere to find a solution looks like there isn't any why to fix it. Mine also messes up my cover art all the time. Only in the app though the lock screen music control has the right art but the app has different albums art (as in wrong band/cd/ect)
So just updated to the newest version of this excellent music player, ive noticed that they have added a beats effect option, ive used this and have to say that along with all the rest of the audio configurability it seems to me that having HTC Beats is not really worth it anymore, has anybody else tested this and what are thoughts on it. thanks for listening
I keep trying to switch to PowerAmp, but whenever I screw with the EQ settings, it just gets washed out. At least with the stock Beats, I just turn it on and it sounds pretty good, at least to me. I'm not an audiophile, but I like my music to sound a certain way.
Poweramp is great, kind of worth the 5 dollars. I don't like the "now playing" structure though. Last I tried it, I would begin at the now playing screen, have to go to the library/folder pane, hold the playlist until a context menu comes up, add my playlist to the que, then go back to now playing. Not sure if it's better now, but I prefer the HTC Music player or the CM9 Music player - which is still beta.
In Poweramp, now playing list (queue) is purely optional as Poweramp just directly plays any list. To play playlist, you go into that playlist and hit any song in it (or do that via long press/context popups).
Since MaxMP is here - I'm trying to select the ICS lockscreen controls on build 483 on my Sensation, and for some reason all I'm seeing is the normal lockscreen but the background is completely black instead of the normal background. No audio controls or anything.
Am I doing something wrong?
Running Sense-less ICS with AOSP lockscreen installed and live wallpaper being used.
