I want to flash a kernel on a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 but is there another way of accessing the current version in order to flash the correct kernel version instead of "About Phone" option?
For example for Apple iPhones you can use iBoot.

can you flash a rom with a different built number, than what the actual unit has, i cannot find a stock rom built GRI40 for use with odin.
Hello,
My question is if there is a possibility to get my Samsung Galaxy S Plus to work as a USB host.
My phone details:
Firmware 2.3.6
Baseband I9001XXKPL
Kernel 2.6.35.7 - perf [email protected]#1
Buid gingerbread.xxkqe
I've been reading this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450298
Dowloaded the Kernel: build 5 galaxy s JVU, based on cf-root 4.3 + stock gingerbread kernel but Odin is giving me "invalid image" error when I put the file in the PDA slot.
I am also afraid that I will need another ROM that is compatible with the USB host kernel. If that's the issue please suggest one.
As info :I've bricked my phone during Kies official update to Value Pack and this Forum and the WIKI page for my phone saved my ass. Thanks!
This is a bizarre situation. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 from a local store, and clearly it was used as it was not in its original box and accessories. Well the price was cheap, so I did not mind. The phone is original, I can confirm, however there is a strange issue. In the 'About device' it is written that the phone is a SM-G900F model, while under the battery there is the sticker with GT-S5830i (yes Galaxy Ace !!!) with a wrong IMEI and S/N. Furthermore, the phone was rooted I checked with two apps from the playstore. The phone had an issue as well, I can see in the background all the time a VERY faint image of the Easy mode, and interestingly I cannot get into Easy mode. So I thought to flash a latest firmware downloaded from sammobile (of course the SM-G900F version). However the flashing process keeps failing. And to my surprise in the Odin mode, it says: Product name: SM-G900P. So, I have a S5 which is a Sprint variant and unlocked but says it is the International variant in 'About Device"?
My questions are:
1. How can I get the latest firmware and updates from Samsung (OTA updates)?
2. How can I remove the root?
3. If I have update the firmware manually using Odin, which one should I download, the SM-G900P version or the SM-G900F version (this had no success)?
3. Will updating the firmware cause the phone to be locked again?
4. What should I really do? I know I can complaint to the seller, but I am curious about this situation.
NOTE:
Bootloader: G900PVPU2B0D3
Build ID: KOT49H.G900FVPU1AND2
Baseband version: G900FVPU1AND2
Kernel version: 3.4.0-964333

This is what happens when you buy a refurbished phone...
Because you got a g900p bootloader, try flash with odin the latest g900p rom (OK4).
If you can't flash because some error, i would try:
Flash only the bootloader (g900p OK4)
Flash the baseband to the last one (g900f OL3, if got any error flashing this baseband try flash g900p OK4)
Flash TWRP recovery
Flash ALEXNDR BOK6 rom -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-ane4-kitkat-4-4-2-multi-csc-t2813628
Mine like you.
my father present me s5 to my birthday but it looks so nasty. at about phone it seems G900f but bootloader it looks G900p.
i wanna use 3g or lte but it occurs other word 3g or lte doesnt work. i just wanna use 3g but i dont no what should i do When i turn on 3g it say Unable to Establish Wireless Data Connection LTE-ESM-33 EMM-x
Hi,
A friend of mine has a Mercedes Benz branded Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T230NZ tablet but he sold the car. Can this tabled be flashed with stock Android?

If you can find a firmware for SM-T230NZ and if the tablet has a download mode that it can be booted into, you should be able to flash the stock firmware via Odin, if there is no conflict with binary version between the currently installed firmware and the firmware that you intend to flash.
The binary version can be identified by looking at the build number of each firmware, the 5th character from the right end of the build number indicates the binary version. The binary version of the firmware that you intend to flash has to be equal to or higher than the binary version of the currently installed firmware, it can not be lower. You can not flash "from" a higher number "to" a lower number, it can only be "from" a lower number "to" an equal number or a higher number. You can only "stay where you are" or "move forward", you can not "move backward".
