Hello!
I was trying to upgrade my gtablet to cyanogen 7 following this guide:
wiki (dot) cyanogenmod (dot) com/index (dot) php?title=Viewsonic_G_Tablet:_Full_Update_Guide
Seems like my install had problems and now all I have when I boot up is 3 birds image.
I used the 2nd method (via recovery). All the 10 steps were fine, but when i reboot it gets stuck on bird screen.
Any idea?
Thanks
nevermind. the cyanogen rom seems to have issues. i copied vegan and everything works fine.
thanks

CM9 RC1 is not ready yet. At least for me, all it would do is play the nice boot screen animation for 10 minutes. I had to re-install the .30 update (my tablet noow behaved as if is was out of the box) and then re-install CM recovery then re-root. What a disappointment, but I will wait - I honestly believe it will be worth the wait. I had trouble initially because I had tried using the upgraded CM recovery Touchscreen but it would not proceed with any update - i thought it was the file but after trying a different one - same result. I re-flashed the recovery and re-rooted, then used that CM version which updated me with the sad result mentioned above.
Good luck everyone - I hope it works for you.
Took a deep breath
Well I tried it again and it worked - I had not followed the exact procedure before and that will teach me. I followed the correct procedure this time and it worked like a charm. People let me share what I found was very important: Always clear the cache/wipe as instructed - this is what caused me much worry and anguish - I thought for sure I had killed my beautiful tablet.
The instructions clearly state that when you are upgrading from CM9x to CM9y it's probably OK not to clear the Cache and/or Factory wipe the tablet - but this was not an upgrade it was a first install so those steps are vital. I was stuck on my boot animation screen because something remained from the previous install (non CM) which was incompatible. If you have any doubts about the instructions then don't proceed - but once I realized what I had left out I knew I had to try it again.
Hi guys,
I just bought a new Coby Kyros MID8127 tablet (A8, Android 2.3) for my friend.
Now, I want to flash a custom ROM with JB on it, but I just did not find any ROM, CWM or tutorial for that here at XDA (or elsewhere).
Is it possible, that there is no custom ROM for that tablet to have?
Thank you in advance.
Greetings,
sYCO
I have the same tablet and I bought a custom ROM from the people at KTZ, however, I could not install this ROM successfully, in order to install it I had to take the tablet to factory reset state and then delete a bunch of system applications to make room for the new ROM because the ROM does not allow you to install it from a formatted system partition (it's more like an upgrade). But when I finally installed the ROM it wuold not boot a second time; what that means is that, after installation the ROM boots normally but if I reboot it gets caught in a loop where I just see a blue disk spinning and it doesn't do anything else and the only way to get it out of that loop is to connect the USB cable and boot to recovery via adb and restore the backup that i did before flashing the new ROM. I tried to get help from the guy who makes these ROMs but he wasn't very helpful. I followed all his instructions and always got the same result.
I managed to install manually most of the components of this ROM through a long process of trial and error and left out the components that make the tablet misbehave and now I have a hybrid on my tablet which works pretty well with the exception of the wifi. The wifi works but at times is painfully slow.
I tried other ROMs from Android Tablet forums (check here). There is an ICS Rom there (or more than one, I don't remember) and also a JB ROM for the 8127 but I could not make them work on my tablet. The ICS ROM installed fine and runs very fast but it keeps freezing so I uninstalled. The Jelly Bean did not install properly and it was very hard to get the tablet to a working state after it bricked.
That was a while ago and I haven't checked lately if there is something else out there.

Sorry, I gave that tablet back and cannot test it anymore. I rather recommend to buy an Ainol Novo 7 Crystal. It is cheaper, better and ****ing fast with a nice custom ROM support like CM 10, CM 10.1, Paranoid 3.0, Crystal-Fuse, ...
Btw, KTZ sucks totally.
Hi,
I have installed [ROM] Android Revolution HD 3.0 before on my Note 10.1 WiFi device previously and it worked fine. However, now I am trying to install the version 5.0 ([ROM] Android Revolution HD 5.0), but as soon as I run the update by choosing the update from SD option in CWM 6.0.2.8, the installed hangs right after clicking the next button or if I am fast in some cases can go up to third next option and then hangs...
Please assist me...
I have tried everything like wiping cache, devcache and factory reset...
The problem starts since ROM version 4.4...
Also I cannot post to the actual developer because of my account restriction on 10 posts.

I would one read the instructions again and two download the file again .

Have you verified the MD5 of the ROM?
Who's version of CWM 6.0.2.8 do you have loaded?
Issue is solved
Thanks all. I have did everything thing like re-downloaded the files etc. but no use.
However, now the issue is resolved and I was able to install the update by simply changing the recovery tool from CWM to TWRP 2.4.4.0.
Hello guys,
I was using CM12 (Lollipop 5.0.2) but I had some issues — my phone would very often reboot, sometimes for no reason as I wasn't even doing anything — so I wanted to switch ROM but wasn't able to install DU 5.1. TeamWin wouldn't work properly so I gave up. I then decided to at least upgrade to a more recent version of CM12, so I installed another recovery to do that, but it didn't work as well, so I put Philz back on my phone and tried to flash the exact same ROM I had before and now it won't install anymore and I'm left with nothing. Do you have any idea how I can get something back (and maybe then get an upgrade?).
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Ok, I got it to work again by downgrading step by step. CM11 Snapshot works but I'd like to get back upwards now and it still won't work even though I'm doing the same thing I did to get 5.0.2. :/
Edit 2: Now I'm back on 5.0.2, figured it out all by myself.
Besides my comments in the title, the only thing my K1 can do right now is go into the bootloader and nothing else.
The Story:
I was running Blisspop 4.0.3 (Lollipop 5.1.1) then flashed to Blisspop 6.0 (MM 6.0). After that, it wouldn't boot into the OS. I did a complete wipe of everything and tried to flash Blisspop 6.0 again, same outcome. I heard I needed to get my hands on TWRP 3.0.0.0 to get MM roms up and running. My dumb ass flashed it and now, I don't have a recovery either now because it gets stuck on the first slpash screen. I went digging around the forums here and I felt like I read something about doing a bootloader update. If that's true well then I done messed up now. At this moment in time, I am only able to launch the bootloader but for the life of me, I can't get ADB to detect it connected to my computer to fix these issues. So as of right now, it's a $200 brick. If anyone can point me to some awesome tools to hack my way around this conundrum, I'd love you forever. Thanks in advance for listening to my problems.
