How long does ext4 convertion take? - Samsung Infuse 4G

i just installed the new 1.5 infused rom in my infuse... and the voodoo conversation is taking 20 t minutes????

It should take 3-5 minutes at the most, so yeah... if the robot wasn't talking (converting that partitions), then something went wrong.

ok, the womenly voice said system is not avaliable??? what do i do???

disable lagfix, something went wrong(likely a problem with permissions, it shouldnt happen but that's what it sounds like). you should be able to disable it in recovery(hold the volume bar and power till the phone resets, hold the volume bar untill the splash screen pops up) after you disable lagfix reboot the phone. if the phone doesn't boot up you may need the ultimate unbrick package to flash to stock and start over.
if the phone does boot there may be a way to remount the system partition with different permissions.

I was Removing Tmobiles built in Apps when I acidently deleted the telephony apk. I rebooted to see if the the devide would restore the file then it began to boot loop. i pulled the battery like three times then i tried to power on using both volume buttons and power and the device never turned back on. Is there a way to fix it? Please anyone who knows something can you help?
Try resetting your device. Turn it off then turn it on and keep the volume down button pressed.
The phone wont turn on now
Take out battery, hold both volume buttons down and plug usb cable in

About 47 minutes, until your screen rapidly starts changing colors.
first off wrong section.
not sure if it works with this works with this phone but you can try oden.
you will have to find a oden flashable rom and boot your phone into download mode.
or you could put your phone in a microwave for 10 secs and take it back to the store and tell them it wont work. they will replace it as long as the water meters arent red.
Look at the post for one click installing clockwork mod and do that. Then find the post with the stock nandroid (or eagleblood) download it either put the files on sd via a reader or boot to recovery and use adb push to get the files on the sd card.
Then wipe the data and cache and apply the new rom. That should work. Don't use Odin as that's only for Samsung phones.

Do you have clockwork recovery installed via nvflash? If not, you need to do that, then download the stock rooted backed that is posted in the development thread...Once you do that, download SuperOneClick and unroot your phone, you should not be messing with this stuff if you don't know what your're doing...After that, check out the stickies in the G2x forums and read the rules about what should and should not be posted in the each of the forums.
sorry about the miss posting never posted before and thanks for the help.
still no success i cant get the phone to stay in recovery to flash nvflash im pressing power and down volume but the phone reboots and begins to boot loop again
You don't go into recovery to flash nvflash. You hold down the volume buttons while plugging it into usb with the battery removed. Search for the thread on one click nvflash.

thanks gonna try now
Do this

Then once you get into clockworkmod recovery go to backup/restore and use this NANDROID

I have found with my experience that these issues are caused from the sdcard and how it is formatted and partitioned. You can backup your sdcard and reformat it and/or partition it if you want. reverendkjr has some good tutorials on youtube you can watch for help starting with this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvU1CptOe14&feature=related or go to his profile here and he has them listed I think
I agree, probably an sdcard issue. Do you have any partitions? Are they set up correctly, ie fat, then ext then swap? Try taking the card out and booting up. Does it work? If so, then would almost point directly to sdcard problem. Answer and try that and we'll go from there. Need more info.
I tried remove the sdcard then reboot but it still does not work

Pictures and notes are usually on sd card and facrory reset let sd intact. You can try first only "wipe cache" from stock recovery maybe helps.

Still cant get it to work, have been using my old phone.
How do I do a "clean wipe".
If I turn it on ,it goes to the unlock screen but wont unlock and the screen goes black but if I call the phone it goes through and the dial screen works fine.
I really need to get this working as I need the texts I have sent and received as well as everything else.
Can anyone offer any help or advice?
Biggest mistake to ever get a Motorola phone, should have stuck with Samsung.
i think ur blur launcher is having problem or u deleted it by mistake.
If any expert here makes a flashable zip of any launcher, or u can install it by adb
At this point I would recommended to reflash back to factory 2.3.5 using the fxz, and the update over the air afterwards.
Remember to always have a backup and use CWM in boot!
Follow this link and look at the instructions on how to flash the fxz: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650

Download "fxz" and "replace" files from Noob thread and flash it using rsd lite if its a software issue then it will be resolved if not i m afraid you will have to service it.
If you're using stock then you shouldn't have to FXZ your phone. With the phone OFF hold the up & down volume keys, and then press your power button. It should pop up the "Boot Mode Selection Menu" Release both the volume keys and then press the down volume once to highlight "Recovery." Then press the volume up button to start your recovery. Scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" using the volume down key and when it is selected press the power button. Then navigate to the "Yes -- delete all user data" using the volume keys (up or down) and press the power key when it is selected. After it has finished, it will show the first menu again. Then navigate to the "wipe cache partition" and follow the same steps as the wipe data/factory reset instructions. Once it goes back to the first menu after wiping the cache partition, then press the power button ("reboot system now" should be selected) and when your phone boots back up it will be like you just got it out of the box except you WILL still have all of your pictures and your videos.

are you rooted? if so you can reset then get all of your data back (I can explain how if you are)
If not, do you have usb debugging enabled? if so you can do a temporary root, just enough to dump your system so you can reset then restore your data the same way

Let's start here, try telling us exactly what happened and what you did to get yourself into this situation. For instance, are you rooted, running any custom roms, or are you on stock Android 2.3.6.? Which model of ATRIX 2: MB865 or ME865? Anything else you can tell us that you have done? The more information you can give, the better!

this would all be helpful. as long as he has usb debugging on he can use the root exploit to open things up enough to try pushing a launcher and if that fails dump the system so that data can be restored

Here is a video of it,notice how long it takes to start up and when it reaches the screen, nothing happens. If I were to call the phone however it would work and I can receive calls. Also if I press the power button the screen wont turn back on unless I call it.It will run very hot as well.

1. Can you try bringing it up without the SD card? If you can, the card may be corrupted, may be need to put to a computer for fsck.
2. Can you connect to it via ADB? Then there are ways (google for exact command syntax: adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases ... in fact pull out entire /data/data, you can extract all your contacts, sms, call log from there) to dump/restore your data.
Like i said a few posts up bud, follow the link i provided and flash the fxz. It will fix your issue. Your pics will remain on the sd card, but yes you will lose your texts. Your contacts are backed up by your google account.

I should add,the last app I installed was that Lookout Security app.

Charge phone for awhile and FXZ back to stock. The phone will charge if you turn it off and plug into wall charger.

And if you have CWM on boot installed you need to either delete the bootstrap apk, or deny it su rights in super user. It's either one or the other, not both.

pull the battery, then put it back after a few seconds and hold both volume buttons while turning it on. choose normal powerup and see if that will boot it. you can also try bp tools.

You have CWM on boot installed so this is what it's going to do every time you reboot.
You have to select "reboot now" to get it to boot up normally after getting to CWM.
Have you selected " reboot now" and what were the results?
I have seen people even having this type of trouble on other phones as well, If you are unable to charge your battery Get a battery only charger from ebay using which you will be able to charge your battery then use FXZ you will be fine
link for charger

Maybe you should but a ROM in your SD card, get the SD card out put in another phone or MicroSD card adaptor, put a ROM in it and flash it, it should fix the issue. It's not the best idea but it should work.

Actually, if there is an issue with the boot image, it may NOT go past CWM, becuase it can't even check the boot partition if it is corrupted, so it will not even attempt it. I think there was link a few posts up that explained something similar.
I saw this a WHOLE lot with my inspire 4g, where the boot partition became corrupted on reboot, and CWM would not even attempt to boot.
I think tmease1 was right an fxz restore is the best fix at this point, just hope that the boot partition is not so borked that even that does not fail.

Ah, yes... indeed, if his boot image or system image is borked it WOULD NOT boot passed CWM in that case. Hard to diagnose the issue if we don't know what else has been done. Won't RSDlite flash the boot image in the unfortunate chance that his boot image is fudged?

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, I think I saw a few users who still had issues restoring with RSDlite and even with the moto-fastboot commands, if the boot partition was deleted or so corrupted that it could not overwrite it. Now I have not done a search but just going off of what I remember, so I could be incorrect here though.
I fixed it I saw a post on another forum (forgot which one to anxious to try it) but it would only charge while connected to a computer led was white while charging unlike when connected to a wall charger (no led) it decided to reboot itself as I'd I selected reboot now from CWM I am thankful for all of you guys input. And I'm still gonna get a extended battery so this doesn't happen when I'm away for long periods of times...by the way the standard battery last about two days of moderate usage but can I use an extended battery designed for the Droid Bionic I figured I could but I'm not sure could it hurt?

Yeah, Moto is finicky about having the battery somewhat charged, and will not usually let you fully boot without it in, I think I read in some document on the Motorola forum that it had to do with the bootloader, and it was a "safeguard".

Stuck in boot, have cwm

Hi there. I had a stock S4g, had froyo 2.2.1. I Rooted the phone. That went fine. I went to install a new kernel (baliSGS4G) The instal got interrupted, second reboot had the android logo flashing while the normal galaxy s logo was on, so I knew from there it was screwed up...
It booted up fine actually, and i was able to operate around in on the phone, altho the home button didnt work... I went ahead and tried a restart to see what it would do and it would stick at the galaxy s boot screen and the voice would say "restore operation" and just reboot and be stuck on a boot loop...
I CANNOT get into recovery mode UNLESS I remove my sdcard... if I do I CAN... BUT it seems as tho the cwm recover is somewhat useless to me now that the sdcard isnt in.... If I boot into recovery and THEN put the card in, it saws E: Can't mount /sdcard..
Ive tried wipe cache partition, wipe data/factory reset... nothing..
Any suggestions? THankyou!

Try One-Click Gremlin Remover to flash and fix. Found this to be easier than Heimdall for the uninitiated: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500427
1 Open Gremlin remover on PC
2. Remove battery from phone
3. Hold down both the Up and Down on the Volume Rocker
4. Plug Phone into USB (without battery)
5. Insert battery into phone and replace cover
The phone should automatically boot into Download mode, and Gremlin Remover should recognize the phone. This should wipe it back to stock but leave it rooted. Then you can start again. I recommend the SGS Kernel Flasher App to flash new kernels in the future. Much less prone to error.

You might refrain from recommending a different flashing utility (ODIN) when somebody has already started using Heimdall and is just asking for help to finish the process. All you are doing is inviting more problems with driver and USB port issues by doing so. You gave him a simple set of instructions that mentioned nothing about drivers.
And SGS Kernel Flasher is great but it only works properly on our GB ROMs.
