Anyone know of an app that would allow me to manage my files on my webserver? I use coffeecup ftp from my pc. Any similar ftp clients available for android?
Sent from my Evo3D

gmote may work for you, in the market
and you install the server portion on your pc, you connect via lan/wifi to your home pc. you can browse through your drives/folders like you would in astro and when you click on a movie file it will play it on your pc monitor, the video player is built into gmoteserver (pc side)
you can also install vnc server on your pc and then install vnc on android (market vnc)
and control it just like you would a normal vnc session.
i myself am looking for a file browser for android that will let me browse network shares and let me copy files to my sdcard

as i said in my first post gmote dose this but when you open a .avi file it opens it in its own weird player and dont run the codec from vlc so the video isnt as clear (is there a fix for that)... but yer i want something just like that... but opens the files in vlc...
im using a remote desktop atm (VNC) without much enjoyment.. its ok i guess just would like a simple app to all drives and pick a file to play full screen on my computer to the look of astro

sorry i must not have read your OP sorry about that.
there is another app gremote much more polished version but its a paid app (market app free but pc software is costs)
besides a vnc type app, i dont know of any app for the pc that will let you remotely launch files too. so if its not there for the pc, its probably not there for the android.
im going to search google for remotely executing files that may lead us to an app that may be made for the android
only other thing i can think of is continue using vnc, switch to media player home cinema as it pauses/play on mouse click. setup a play list on the pc, then use your phone to vnc in to play/pause/volume up/down.
next to that cordless mouse and keyboard =)
So you are looking for a Media Remote Control application.

No no no. What you want is estrongs file explorer. Browse network shares via
Samba (PC networking) or ftp. Over wifi for lan shares or 3G with ftp.
You can ditch Astro after that find.
If you need to do it the other way around; browse the phone's file system with a pc or other device, use swiftp which is an ftp server.

astro just came out with SMB support, you can browse network files through that now too
Just purchased a slink dns323. Any idea how to connect my grab to it? Running vegan tab gingerbread experimental.

Try UPnPlay, free on the market.
Cifs manager from the market. Mount all your network shares to your tab and they can be accessed as if they were local.
Depends on what you are trying to do, and how your NAS is configured...
If you have DLNA / UPnP turned on your NAS, and you want to access Videos, then use UPnPlay as suggested...For Music there are a tonne of apps...
If you want to use straight CIFS (SMB) then you can use CIFS Manager from the Market as long as the kernel you are using supports it and the module is loaded. I think Vegan GB does -- so you should be fine there...
With CIFS Manager, it's just a straight mapped drive like you'd get in Windows. So you'll use a File Manager app (like ES File Explorer, or Astro) to browser to the folder, select the file to execute and you should get a popup asking which app you want to use to open...
If you want to use NFS or FTP on your NAS, then really all you need is a File Manager (again, Astro or ES File Manager)
Play around and see what you prefer...
I has a DNS 321
I have a DNS 321, which is basically the same device/sw. I create CIFS shares from the NAS and then use ES File Explorer to access the NAS. Works fine.
I also have the DNS-321 I use File expert with the SMB add on and it works great, just add the IP of the NAS and sign anonamously and browse away, play videos and music.
When I am away from home I have VNC server on my home system, and VNC viewer on the tablet, works pretty good, and I can get to the NAS that way also. I use TNT 4.25 with Clemsyns kernel.
Obviously my Transformer is on my network, but how can I make it see the other devices on it? I would like to keep my music on one PC and then when I travel just copy over the songs i want to bring. Or i want to keep all my PDFs in one simple location so i don't have to search for them, yet be able to read them on my Transformer.
Do I need static IPs?
I use "es file explorer", or "astro" to see all of my other devices on my network, and then just browse to the location I want...
+1 for ES File Exploer - does SMB, FTP, SFTP, Dropbox, etc... Absolutely awesome... Can even stream videos via the network via ES File Explorer!
Ok, you can't use the stock File Manager for that kind of activity? Eye opener!
I want to find a player and it supports to access FTP server, Windows Sharing service/Samba server, and UPnP devices. Can you help me, plz?

I think that for that purpose you need a file browser that support FTP access. You can try es file explorer or astro

Recommend you two players, VLCplayer and VidOn player, they can meet your requirements. Hope to help you.
Take a look at Avia. I'm pretty sure it fits all of the above. It's really good regardless.
Hello,
I'm looking for a SMB server that can at least use v2. Because Windows 10 doesn't support v1 anymore. So far, I didn’t find anything about it on the web.
Does anyone know a good SMB server app, that support v2 or v3? Or what would be a good alternative to SMB?
Sincerely Veggie
Any luck?
v1 is too vulnerable but seems all the SMB servers on play store are old & neglected.
Total Commander offers an SMB v2 LAN plugin for free. Works well, though the Total Commander interface leaves much to be desired.
X-plore File Manager works with SMB v2. It's an odd looking explorer, but works.
XDA's MiXplorer does not, unless you add the $1.90 SMB 2 add-on.
I've tested and verified that MiXplorer does not work without the add-on, and that X-plore does work on SMB2. I have not tested the premium MiXplorer add-on.

The OP is asking for a server not a client.
