[Q] App you can turn on mobile network/G/3G through a sms/text message command?!? - General Questions and Answers

Okay I have searched everywhere for this but could not find the answer anywhere! I'm looking for an app, similar to Watchdroid by Androgone Development that can switch on the mobile network/mobile internet/3G etc through a text message command. For example an app that would recognize keyword:mobilenet and the mobile network would switch on, similar to the keywordosition or gps command but the mobile network.
Why am I looking for an app like this? Well having network connection helps in many more ways if the device is lost, you can use apps like mylookout to position or turn on a siren through a web page but if the mobile internet is switched off there is no way possible!
I know people may say just to keep it on but I concluded by how much battery life can be extended with it switched off.
Ok so anyone at all have any knowledge of such an app?
Thanks in advanced
Frost

Wouldn't that potentially be dangerous?
If somebody figure out your command and texts you..
You can't make it number specific as you don't know when and where you would need to use these emergency service.
Even if its password protected its potentially dangerous.

No not really as I have 500mb allowance if it all be used up then the phone would just not have any more internet,
and nobody would figure out as the keyword I used nobody would know.

Anyone have any idea?

I Want too. hehe

Still no answer?

[Q] free internet question

has anyone seen this? no esn cloning and you would have to use google voice for the phone calls and text etc. i have to assume this doesnt work, but would be nice if it did work.
ive seen a few things on VPN or PROXY settings but nothing concrete.
Even if it did work it would be illegal. Chances are this is just a scam to get money from people.

MMS over WI-FI?

Would like to start off by saying thanks to all the developers that take their time to make us all happy. Now on to my question.....Is there or will there ever be a option on this stellar device that will allow MMS over WI-FI or even the opportunity to have simple WIFI calling? I did a search for this, but couldn't come up with a definitive answer. Any input would be better than none.
Thanks in advance

[Disregard all of this, thought we were talking about SMS]
I searched all over recently for the exact same thing, except I wanted on where I could keep my current number. I didn't have any luck. There are options like mighty text and desksms that let you send texts through your browser but its still using your carriers service. You could use text+ or other similar options to text over wifi for free but you won't have the same number.
Basically, unless you have imessage (obviously not) or you setup a google voice account and change your main number over to that, or if you're lucky enough to be on verizon which has google talk capabilities, you're lost. And just do a search for voice calls over wifi, there are tons of ways.

That is great and all but my main concern is that NONE of my MMS go out nor come in, so I am fishing here for a solution as there was on the SGS2 where you could flash a fix that would use the WIFI connection in order to send out the MMS instead of the NON existent Edge data connection. I am hoping this is making sense. I will look for the post for the SGS2 and update with what I am talking about.
Sorry for any confusion

I am able to send text messages because they use the simple GSM technology, but when it comes down to sending those pesky MMS (photo) messages, they WILL NOT go through. I have reset the APN a ton of different ways but nothing seems to work. That is why I am asking for some sort of development on MMS over wifi.

[Q] Samsung admire R720.06 Wont make outgoing calls

Hello I'm quite a novice at cell phone stuff to please forgive me if I'm asking in the wrong place or wrong question.
I bought a Samsung Admire R720 about 6 months ago. It's umm locked for the carrier MetroPCS. I never activated the phone with them because I didn't have the money yet. I just always used the wifi wherever there was a hotspot. I also rooted it because I wanted to use more advanced tools like the wifi analysis and Titanium backup etc. I also used Groove IP on the phone to use my google voice while I was on wifi. Now the fun begins.
I activated the device with Metro online and did all the MEID stuff and the phone seems happy but I cannot dial a call to anyone (unless I use groove ip). When a number is dialed, it rings once and a recording pops up saying:
PS01 Your call cannot be completed. Bye. *click*
Everything else works on the phone though. I can accept incoming calls to the cell phones number. I can text and I can surf the web. All with the wifi radio turned off so I know its going through the carrier.
I'm lost as to why it wont simply make a call out. I have the android toolkit here and can use adb to do anything you ask of me, dumplog push pull... whatever. I've seen the dumplog while trying to make a call and I have a copy of it but I would rather one of you more experienced folks tell me what to search for then post it here. Otherwise the dump is huge and messy because its raw with no modifiers.
Any help would be much appreciated. I do have a ticket in with MetroPCS but I think the real techs there aren't very available or none exist.
Thanks in advance!
Dave

[Q] Wifi calling location specific?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody knows of a way, if possible at all, to set wifi calling to enable based on location. Similar to the smart lock feature. While I'm at work, the wifi doesn't allow for wifi calling, so it messes up sending picture messages and other things. It's a pain, because in order to get picture messages to work a gain, I have to turn off wifi calling, restart my phone and then hope that that fixes it. I try to remember to turn it off before I get to work and then reenable it when I get home, but it would be nice if it would toggle on it's own.
There is something called Tasker that let's you do this. It's found in the play store. It's a little complicated to use at first, but there are many guides and premade scenarios you can use.

Decreasing prepaid balance without obvious reason

Hi. I have a strange problem. I rooted my "new" spare phone, Oneplus 3, with Magisk and installed EdXposed. I don't know if that is anyway relevant. I first bought a prepaid mobile subscription from one local operator and started using the phone with only wlan internet connection. I didn't make any calls or txt or mobile data or anything at all that costs money and still my balance decreased. I thought maybe there is a problem with the operator and so I bought a new prepaid mobile subscription from another operator. Same problem, balance decreases even when I don't do anything that's supposed to cost money. Only wlan internet connection. Mobile data is switched off.
Is there any way to see what is causing my balance to decrease? Does this sound like a malware etc.? Any tips what to do?
@Tohtori my idea would be to turn on flightmode and then connect to wifi and check if balance still decreases.
But if you need mobile connection for phone calls you can use either AFWall+ or Netguard-No-Root.
Both can block either mobile or Wlan for each app separately no matter if system or user wise installed.
I use both on different devices and the blocking ability is great.
Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately neither flightmode nor firewall did solve the problem. However AFWall+ app seems to be very usefull for another purposes, so thanks for the tip.
I installed Root Call SMS Manager app, which allows to block incoming and outgoing calls, sms and ussd. This is how I found out, that my phone sends in the background sms containing only word STATUS to number 900080006200.
Any idea how to get rid of the issue?
When I searched the Internet for that number 900080006200, lots of results mentioned it had something to do with Verizon. I have an app called Device ID Masker. It can be used to fake all sorts of information. I had selected "random all" option which among other things changed my operator name to Verizon. I reseted all the settings in that app to default, lets see if the problem ceases to exist.
It seems that the problem is solved.
