Just a thought.. Did you buy games and then look for them in the regular app list instead of the XBox live hub?
If you bought apps through Zune on your PC, then your phone will eventually download them automatically. Sometimes this can take up to an hour. You could try plugging your computer in and sync'ing them manually, and that should force your phone to download the apps immediately.
You could also just search up the app on the Marketplace and start a manual download of it. It will recognize that you have already paid for it.
both apps and games doesn't appear on app list and xbox menu
when i try to but them again it says you've already bought this app

I downloaded Name my tune, then Tada~ It doesn't show up in my list. How the hell can I uninstall it or get it to show up? My focus is not unlocked and has 7390 on it.

If it's not on your list, are you sure you downloaded it? Can you go to the marketplace and install it again?
It should be in the games hub. It won't show up on the app list to the right of your homescreen, games just show up in the hub.
oh, it's not in the APP list... and it's a game. yeah, check inside games hub
Sometimes apps get mislabeled and may show up in games. Was looking for Shazam and couldn't find it in list. So held down the middle button and when prompted for what to say I said Open Shazam and app loaded so I knew I had it. Checked Games Hub and it was there.
Hi, basically what i want to know, is if you can get a non market downloaded app to actually SHOW in the market (so i can be notified of updates etc)
The reason i am asking this is because some developers offer their app free to XDA users, but paid on the market. It's just a bit of an inconvenience not to have it updated when i open the market.
Any thoughts on hwo to do this?

try out superoneclick. Connect your device in debuging mode. Run SuperOneClick and click the allow non market apps option. I use this with my x10. But when I do update it automaticle bring me to the pay-pal.

Doesn't this just let you install non market apps? Because i can already do that with Cyanogenmod.
What i want exactly is apps to show up in the market so i can update it from there
The market uses a server-side database to keep track of what apps you've actually purchased. And I believe client-side it just keeps a running list of what apps you have on your phone. But for purchased apps, the record of the purchase is on the servers. So if you side-load an app that normally costs money on the store, it may recognize that you have the app, but the purchase won't show up.
If it was all client side someone would have come up with a way to do this by now since if it was possible you could trick the store into thinking you've bought pretty much any app you choose.
This depends on the kind of apps you are trying to get notified about.
Market uses server side authentication and lists apps installed on phone using the server database.
If you are trying to update apps that are not available in your region, you can use Market Enabler or Root Toolbox and emulate another region/carrier and get the app. You have to install the app this way and whenever there's an update, you will be prompted but every time you want to update, you will have to change the region.
If you are trying to gets apps that are paid apps in the market and you didn't buy them on the market and you obtained it via other means(including apps like Autostarts which is open source but paid in app allowing you to compile a copy for yourself free of charge), you cannot make the market recognize them. However, you can use App Update Notifier(free app on market) to get notified whenever the app is updated.

*facepalm* Makes perfect sense that it would all be done server side for aunthentication reasons.
I will have a look at that app, cheers
You could also try the client from Appbrain:
appbrain.com/info/getting-started
Found another stand-alone app:
www.androidpit.de/de/android/market/apps/app/de.goddchen.android.appupdate/App-Update-Notifier
As long as the app is available in the market you can, after you have installed the apps just clear the data and cache for the market the reload the market and they will be in your list, but if there pay apps and you haven't paid for them you can't update them.
Black markets will do this for you

Account will be the same account as used with 1st phone.
Thanks!
FWIW, old device was a Quantum and new is a Focus.

Seems I may have found my own answer:
see link:
http://pauliom.com/2011/11/26/how-to-transfer-apps-with-windows-phone-7-wp7/
" if you attempt to buy an app that you have previously purchased/installed then the marketplace will realise this and ask you if you just wish to reinstall it again. It’s a bit off putting to have to press ‘buy’ but it seems to install without incurring a payment."
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ne-phone/c013094c-7028-4264-aed3-d0bf588ec96c
Guess we will find out if this is true!
Any input or advice is still welcomed!
Yes. Goto https://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/account, login with your LiveID and you'll see app purchase history with ability to automatically reinstall.
Tip from MS: To have apps or games you buy in the web Marketplace automatically installed on your phone, on Start, flick to the App list, tap Settings, tap Find My Phone, and select Connect to these features faster (may use more battery).
You can also login with the original user account on the Web Marketplace and it will show you ever app you have bought or download and even gives you the option to reinstall the app to X phone that you have registered to the account.
You an also install and app called Reinstaller. It will query your Windows Live account and give you your purhcase/download history. You can select items from the list and reinstall. Much faster than going to the website one at a time.

Thanks! I found that app as well.
Yesterday while I opened Marketplace on my Samsung Omnia W (version: 7.10.8773.98), I got message in background as "Attention: You must install the Refresh Marketplace app before you can access app and games."
I installed this app. This app got listed in Xbox, but still message continues to display in background in Marketplace (seems its static image).
Any idea what is purpose of this app. I am not facing any issue in installing any app from Marketplace.
supposedly is to upgrade the marketplace to the same app that windows phone 8 users have (minus wp8 apps, obviously)
some people have suggested that this can be fixed with a hard reset, but i think that's a bit extreme considering the fact that you can still use the marketplace without problems
btw, some guy did this:
This procedure helped me (Nokia Lumia 800, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango):
- Install the "Refresh Marketplace" app from the remaining marketplace
- Run "Refresh Marketplace" app in the Xbox Games app
- Connect phone to the AC power charger.
- activate WLAN (if not done yet)
- Open "Marketplace" (still the remaining, incomplete version) and let the phone rest for a few hours (up to 24 hours) with active WLAN. After a while, a notification about open app updates should appear. Download and install all app updates - during this process, the Marketplace also receives its update.
Then, Marketplace will open in its current version.

Install the Refresh Marketplace App to continue using Marketplace
Microsoft is continuing a series of infrastructure upgrades to improve Windows Phone Marketplace. While most Windows Phone users’ phones have automatically been switched over to the improved Windows Phone Marketplace infrastructure, in the coming weeks a small number of users will need to install a simple Refresh Marketplace App to continue using Marketplace to download and/or update Windows Phone apps.
The Refresh Marketplace App is a small app developed by Microsoft to help some Windows Phone users complete their transition to the improved Windows Phone Marketplace infrastructure. The app will make changes to the Marketplace configuration on the phone to ensure that it communicates with the updated online Marketplace infrastructure. Installation of this FREE app involves the same basic installation steps as any Windows Phone app. You can download it over a cellular data connection or Wi-Fi, and it takes only a few minutes to install and run.
If you are one of the small number of users who needs to install and run the Refresh Marketplace App to continue using Marketplace, you will receive a You must install the Refresh Marketplace App notice and will see this app as the only one featured within the Marketplace Hub on your phone. Follow the instructions below to download and install the Refresh Marketplace App:
1.
Ensure your Windows Phone is connected to a cellular data connection or Wi-Fi.
2.
Open the Marketplace Hub.
3.

5.
Re-open the Marketplace Hub. You should no longer see the You must install the Refresh Marketplace App notice, and you should be able to see various featured apps and games. You can now continue to use Marketplace on your Windows Phone—enjoy! If you choose, you can uninstall the Refresh Marketplace App at this time.
Troubleshooting
If, after following the previous steps, you continue to receive the You must install the Refresh Marketplace App notice or are unable to install apps from the Marketplace Hub on your phone, do the following:
Basic
1.
Turn off your Windows Phone by holding down the power button and following the on-screen instruction to Slide down to power off.
2.
After a few seconds, push the power button to restart your phone.
3.
Ensure your Windows Phone is connected to a cellular data connection or Wi-Fi, then plug it in using the wall charger that came with your phone. Leave your phone plugged in for at least 10 minutes, then try again to access Marketplace.
4.
Re-open the Marketplace Hub. You should no longer see the You must install the Refresh Marketplace App notice, and you should be able to see various featured apps and games. You can now continue to download apps from Marketplace—enjoy!
If you continue to have problems, see the following Advanced steps.

If you continue to have problems, do the following:
5.
If your Games Hub icon doesn't say Xbox LIVE (or if Steps 1-4 don't restore the full Marketplace experience), plug in your Windows Phone using it's wall charger, ensure your phone is connected to a cellular data connection or Wi-Fi, and charge your phone for at least 24 hours. During this time, your phone will automatically attempt to connect to the updated online Windows Phone Marketplace infrastructure, after which you should be able to continue using Marketplace.
If after following all of the steps above you continue to have problems, contact Microsoft Support.

I tried as well with all steps including Basic and Advanced troubleshooting options. But no success in recovering Marketplace. In fact I had lost access to all apps/games in Market place.
Finally I reset my handset. After Reset, when connected to Zune for configuring Phone again, New update was installed on my Phone (Samsung Omnia W). After Reset Marketplace is working fine.

I have a ton of games in my nexus 7 that I want to move over to my S3, but I'm having trouble getting it to work. Has anyone been able to do this?
I've tried using DataSync from the play store, but doesn't work that well or the apps crash when I run them on the new phone. I tried copying the files from titanium backup in windows but I either did it wrong or it doesn't work.
The nexus 7 is on 4.2 though. Perhaps that's why it isn't working? Is there any way to sync app data between 2 devices so that I can play the same game on both?
Try copying the files over from titanium backup, before restoring, just install the app trough play store, and then use titanium backup to just restore the DATA, don't restore the app itself.

thanks! that worked. now I can keep playing subway surfers haha.
do you happen to know of any way to reliably sync the app data so that I don't have to keep doing this every time I play on a different device?
Sorry, no, I just always used this method.
I don't even own the GS3, but just came across this. I can't test any methods, you'll just have to search.

Came back to post the solution in case anyone has the same problem. The new, free DataSync Beta on the play store lets you seamlessly sync apps between two devices. There is a paid addon that will autosync for you as well. This has worked perfectly so far between my GS3 and nexus 7.
To sync my games, I downloaded them from play store on my new device first, and then synced with the app. It even lets you make lists to sync so all your games will sync with just one press

If you pay the few dollars for the pro version of TB then you can enable dropbox. Once it is enabled you can assign certain apps a label and then sync only those under that label to dropbox. Do this for all devices and whenever you want to continue on a diff device just hit the sync button on TB and restore the data. Just be sure to sync any progress on one device to dropbox before you sync the other one. It sounds like a lot but it only takes seconds to sync from one device, open up TB on the other and then import just the data. It has worked for me
