Hi mates!
I made a theme for MIUI ROM in .mtz.
I'd like to create an selfextracting apk to post it in the APPmarket.
I think it'll be quite easy, 'cause it will only copy the themefile in the correct folder, or deleting it when uninstalling.
How shall I create it?
I found lot of guide, which suggest to use AppInventor, ApkManager, Eclipse and other stuffs...but I'm totally blind at the moment

or...my need is i want to change miui dialer to my own designed. i want a glass style, so i want to make it and put it to my miui rom, or miui theme.

Could someone point me to a guide where I can learn to take certain aesthetics from one ROM and make them work on another? Also, which files in the .zip are the actual images (so i can create my own), and in turn sign the .zip and make is flashable?
Ill admit i didnt even attempt a search, as I havent the faintest as to what keywords to cycle in (YOU search "port" or "theme" amd sift through it LOL!)
I am relativly familiar with android, so maybe someone could even just do a quick stripdown in a comment.

I have spent days searching the internet and not found a single comprehensive tutorial on modifying an existing CM7 theme.
Specifically, I am looking for a step by step guide to extracting a theme's apk, replacing images within the theme, and recompiling the apk so that it will be usable in Theme Chooser.
To make this thread helpful to as many people as possible, I am asking that you be as thorough in your explanations as you can. Please do not leave out any steps, even if they seem obvious to you.
If there is already a thread with a fully detailed answer to this question, please direct me to it. Otherwise, I appreciate any answers you can give me.

Instructions seem simple enough...
I used APKTool to extract the contents of a theme's apk to view it's contents. I am assuming that the the images in the extracted theme can be replaced and then the theme can be compiled and signed again using either APKTool or APK-Manager/APK-Multi-Tool...

It depends ...but seems to be complicated at this time I recommend you to use an online tool to change framework Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen
to change things from scratch use APK_Manager but this is an advanced task for people they develop a custom ROM so be careful every wrong entry in framework will result in an unusable phone -stuck at bootanimaton so take care about and do a nandroid backup before so you can restore your phone to a working status
what if I just change the framework-res.apk and systemui.apk for example,WP7 ROM v2.0 by jinavs to cyanogenmod 7.2 but in such a way so then would not work
i just want keep cyanogenmod and put style from WP7 ROM v2.0 by jinavs i want have cyanogenmod and windows phone 7 style or system ui

I followed your posts here in fact you just want your own ROM but this is not as easy as you think you never find a complete-tutor "how to make a custom ROM" just because this is subject for a book and involves developer-level abilities (just look at that ROM -is made by a development team) keep things as simple as possible an find a ROM that meet your appropriate requirements you should be glad you have Cyanogenmod on your phone because not all people have this chance !
to get an answer to your question why not to post it on that ROM thread if you want answer put the right question in the right place

I'm not sure wich is the correct place fot this question, so I'm posting in general section..
I'm theming a rom to make it look like AOSP..
I replaced rom's fonts with AOSP fonts extracted from a virtual device.. Texts now look like JB, but asterisc in dialer is out of place!
I can't decompile SemcPhone.apk to edit layout because apktool doesn't let me recompile it, even if I decompile and recompile without changing any file!
The only solution is insert sony's font asterisc into roboto font.. I tried to do that with High-Logic FontCreator 7.5 and I created an edited ttf, but fonts with accents (I.E: áéíòü) were gone!
Anyone can do this? Or knows about a tutorial? Or can teach me how to do that?
Dear Fellows,
I'm new to CM and its just my second post, I'm kinda interested in making/modifying themes on android phones. I have some queries regarding this..
1. do i need to create a new project from scratch and build my own apk or
2. do i just decompress other's theme apk and change it way i like (is that legal or acc to rule of android, CM forums etc )
3. Can i sale themes on play store using second method ( i know they worked but if its possible, i wont do if its not or illigal)

1. There are plenty guides on the Android Theme section. I have written up a updated guide to create themes from scratch with extra info on how to theme your interface. There are some that show you how to theme using pre-made apks
2. Yes you can as long it is not a paid theme. A free one then its fine, you just have to ask the original themer for permission. So they know you're using his/hers theme as a base.
