[Q] Samsung Mesmerize board name? - Samsung Mesmerize

Does anyone know what type of board and processor the samsung mesmerize uses.
Board Example: sardine, trout, goldfish
Processor Example: arm (arm5te) (arm6), x86, 68k
Thanks

I'm not sure what the board is but the processor is an armv7.
quick edit from what I just remembered....its the hummingbird chipset and more specifically the processor is an Arm Cortex A8

Captivate & Infuse 4g has the same processor?

I read something in the internet that says Infuse processor is the same as the Captivate.
Samsung just overclocked it so they can still use the Captivate's Hummingbird 1ghz processor instead of throwing it out on the recycle bin? I just can't find the link again and will try to find it and update the link here.
Anyone can confirm?
What are your take on this?

Not sure it really matters as long as the phone performs.
Chances are the underclocked the hummingbird. Its very common in mobile proccessors.

from what I have seen samaung may have intended for this chip to run at 1.2 in the first place. I believe it is even the same part number.
it is very common for a manufacturer to release identical processors with a variety of clock speeds, cache ram, active cores, and other features. turning off features and releasing the chip as a lower model is a way to increase production. eg I have a 3 core processor in my pc but in bios I have overclocking options, when selected my chip becomes a quad core. this is because the processor is actually a quad core that the default settings turn off one core, my chip may have had one core that was sub par or it may be
perfectly good and been marketed as 3 core to fill in the demand for a cheaper processor.
this has been done with clock speeds and other features as well. and the snapdragons chips have 1.3 and 1.4 ghz versions but despite a differrnt part# are the same core. they have potential to go up to 1.7ghz or more. a few hummingbirds have potencial for 1.4-1.6.

is my phone ARMv8?

I have AT&T Infuse and currently using ROM MIUI v1.10.21, baseband UCKJ2.
Is my phone a ARMv7 or ARMv6?
I did a Quadrant and CPU is ARM Cortex A8 (Hummingbird). So that mean i'm ARMv8?
Thx.

Why does it matter? Are you going to to developing or something ha. I think its 7, but therez a big chance its an 8. I think 8 is dual core though, and I know tegra2 is 9, but I'm pretty sure its seven. Someone correct me if om wrong ha.
the reason i ask cuz i want to install font and not sure if i should download ARMv7 or ARMv6 created by a community called CAUG (Cambodia Android Users Group).
The hummingbird is a Cortex A8, so yeah.
Only the OMAP4, Exynos(beast), and Tegra 2 are Cortex A9.
Sent from my phone. :3
I know its confusing, cortex A8 is actual v7. The designations may refer to different things but all the A8 processors i've seen also say v7.
The Instruction set is ARMv7. The processor branding is CORTEX A8... like pentium, or Athalon. A = application processor, can be M A or R for different tasks, this sigifies a qualification for certaint tasks. , 8 signifies a speed level.
ARMv7 with NEON extension, if you're interested in downloading a codec pack with performance optimizations.

[Q] Difference between 800Mhz Cortex-A5 and 800Mhz ARMv6

Hello,
I already have a Samsung Galaxy Pro with a 800 Mhz Cortex A5 processor and I was looking up the Sony Xperia tipo and found that it has a 800 MHz ARMv6 I want to know what is the difference between the two processors.
Thanks.

The arm6 will smoke the arm5 probably take more over clock and have a better graphics proccesor

Thanks bbrad! I was just about to ask the same question!!
What? All the new phones are armv7,
And the majority of older and cheaper phones are armv6. Its a completely different thing from cortex. Cortex a8 is what's in the sensation and gs2, cortex a9 or a hybrid of it is in the gs3 and all the current generation phones, and cortex a15 is not in any phones yet but there are partially a15 based phones. Each generation is said by arm to be twice as fast and efficient than the last. Anything armv6 is probably old and won't be able to run as well as an armv7 device. However while they are related armv6 is not the same as cortex a6.

The ARM Cortex-A5 is ARMv7 and is newer and better than the ARMv6
The Samsung Galaxy Pro with ARM Cortex A5 has a faster graphics output and memory bus so will performe better than the Sony Xperia tipo ARM11-ARMv6
so Samsung Galaxy Pro has the better processor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ARM_microprocessor_cores
The ARM Cortex A5 ARMv7 is intended to replace the ARM11-ARMv6 for use in devices. Compared to the ARMv6, the Cortex-A5 offers the advanced features of the ARM v7 architecture over ARM11-ARMv6 architectures e.g VFPv4 and NEON advanced SIMD. It also allows devices to run current software

How to root android cortex a-5 ???
Samsung Galaxy Pro --> 800Mhz Qualcomm MSM7227 (ARM11)
Sony Xperia Tipo --> 800Mhz Qualcomm MSM7225A (Cortex-A5)
Made this to avoid any confusion.

[Q] Qualcomm cortex a5 dual core processor vs mediatek cortex a9 dual core processor

HI,
im gonna buy a new android phone i have 2 choice but cant take decision between them.
one has qualcomm cortex a5 dual core processor and another has mediatek cortex a9 dual core processor
Which is better?
Thanks in advance.
I would also be interested to know... any suggestions?
Found MT6577 vs MSM8225 assuming MT6577T will perform better!

[Q] iRulu 10.1 tablets and their chipsets

Found these cheap android tablets. They seem like pretty good compared to their price. But different devices are confusing me. They are many almost same devices but with a little different hardware and still they are named the same. I'm about to buy an iRulu 10.1 tablet. I'm not sure if there are 2 or 3 different versions of it.
iRulu's site was laggy but these charts are the same what I found on their site:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iRulu-10-1-...90625890613?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item5af31e1135
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iRulu-10-1-...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item7b74f03c58
The first one: CPU Processor: "Rockchip RK2928 Cortex-A9 1.5GHz; Mail-400 Quad Core"
And the second one: "CPU Processor: Allwinner A20 1.5GHz; Mail-400 Quad Core"
What's the difference? Which could be better?
This one doesn't tell about 1.5ghz: http://www.ebay.com/itm/iRulu-10-1-...50886874301?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item51b27cccbd
"Allwinner A20 ARM Cortex-A7 Dual-Core; ARMĀ® Mali400MP2"
According to many other sources, clock speed of that allwinner A20 cortex-A7 is only 1ghz or 1.2ghz. What are those Allwinner A20 1.5ghz processors then?
Moreover, I have seen iRulu 10.1 tablets with resistive screens that are not good. I also found very large amount of 10.1 tablets with some kind of allwinner 1.5ghz processor and seemingly same body. MAny of them don't even tell name or brand. I will be most likely buying the first or second one, but first I'd like to know about the processor differences. Only thing I know about android processors are the clock speed and number of cores.
Just realized that Rockchip RK2928 Cortex-A9 1.5GHz is not dual-core. Also, with further investigation, I became even more convinced that the Allwinner A20 dual-core 1.5ghz doesn't exist. Many are still selling that. Not sure if it's 1ghz or 1.2ghz.
Again found new models:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iRulu-10-1-...90630383490?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item5af3629f82
"Allwinner A10 1.5GHz Mali-400" (single-core, but is it better or worse than RockChip?)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/iRulu-10-1-...90691725632?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item5af70aa140
"iMAPx15 ARM Cortex A5 Dual core 1.2GHz" (this vs Allwinned A20 Cortex A7?)
1.5ghz single-core or 1.2ghz dual-core, which is better? 1ghz dual-core?
This is really confusing.
EDIT: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/44034-atm7029-an-arm-cortex-a9-or-a5/page__st__40 + many other sources seem like telling Allwinner processors are not as good as advertised. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockchip Wikipedia says that that RK2928 would be single-core 1 to 1.2ghz. Odd

Stick with name brand. I got an infotmic imapx15 noria 7" for Christmas. The most I was able to do was root it. I just found flashing software from the manufacturer for it after searching for 3 months. Trust me, the Mali-400 GPU isn't that great as far as I'm concerned. Mine is also a dual core 1.2GHz and is still quite slow compared to my Galaxy S3. Just my .002
