Question about playing music from phone on car stereo? - HTC Sensation

Ok guys, I got a Sensation a few days ago and also bought a new Pioneer Deck DEH8300UB.
I tried connecting the USB to the front of the deck to play music, it charges the phone but the deck says error trying to read the phone. Is their something I need to do to get this to work without having to use the 3.5mm jack on the phone and deck?
I also got a stereo on my boat that has the same inputs and its doing the same thing on that, Id like to only use one cord is possible.
Thanks so much guys, you are always a GREAT help!!

I dont think its possible to do it like that but there is something you can try. Plug your phone into the computer and select USB mode then check the "never ask again" box at the bottom of the screen. That will be your best chance of getting it working. Dont get your hopes up though because I do not think that will work, but its worth a shot.

i usually just use aux cable works GREAT! BUT my sister has a sony xplode deck and i do use the usb so it is possible but the usb on radio decks are tricky do either number 1 or step #2(works for me) on her deck when i plug the usb into it and the phone it automatically goes to usb source on radio, the trick is to plug it in and then swith ur radio deck off of usb and back...yeah weird but it works for me, usually the plug and play method doesnt work cuz the deck wont read usb first time around:
1. plug it in wait till phone shows option and choose usb(check never ask again...though it asks anyway again?!?)
2. if that didnt work, plug in usb on radio deck then switch it(source button?) off usb and back to usb then from phone choose usb connection and never ask again...this does the trick on my sis usb deck everytime...my hd2 did same thing dont know why(i much prefer the aux)

I've been using the Belkin Air Cast unit - nice thing is that audio is bluetooth, so I don't have to keep connecting the 3.5mm jack - just plug in the AirCast, push a button when I get in the car, and presto - music, even if the phone is in my pocket.
Beautifully simple, and even handles hands-free calling duties. Love it.

Thanks so much guys.
I will try what you guys suggested. Hopefully it will work, my main concern is making sure its charging while playing music so I don't kill the battery, that I know works which is awesome, so just need to work out the usb part, I guess if that don't work I will look into the BT jobby or just use the 2 wires and just neatly electrical tape the wires together so it doesn't look like a birds nest!
Again thanks so much.

When you plug it in does the phone give you some options to choose from? If yes you have to mount sd card as mass storage for it to be accessible.

[Q] galaxy s to ipod dock... is it possible?

hey all
ive been roaming thru the forums n google searches trying to get all the info i need in order to create a galaxy to ipod dock connectivity.
im simply doing this as there is an abundant of idocks but nothing really for the galaxy.
my plan is to wire a micro usb and 3.5mm headfone jack into a female ipod cable (taken from an ipod extension cable) to create a small peice that can charge the phone and play music to the dock.
having all the cable outputs on top creates a sorta problem as the screen doesnt rotate upside down (not that im aware of anyway) so id have to create a sorta stand to incorporate it into
my question is, is it acheivable to charge, play music and maybe use for alarms etc? i kno in my head it makes sense but whats the thoughts of the more knowledgable people?
and can anyone help me out with pin numbers for bothe the ipod cable and the micro usb cable?
thank you all
Is this what you are looking for?
Quality is really good and with Voodoo Sound Control installed its really great!
Or if you are good in DIY than have a look here.
Hope this helps!
Try this: http://cgi.ebay.ph/Sprint-Anycom-Bl...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item2c54a47edb
it basically adds bluetooth functionality to ANY ipod dock..
it works, tried it with a car audio system.
@laurens something similar to that cable but im more interested with being able to charge my phone aswell. i sorta want to harness everything from the dock i can. so charging and playing music, much like i would get if i plugged an iphone onto the dock.
@neilbantoc nah im not a big fan of bluetoothing as it gives a pretty bad sound (usually) plus doesnt really charge the phone.
after much searching i found this link. its pretty much exactly what i want except its for a different phone
wow and i cant add links.... well i found it buy searching iPod dock adapter for the Motorola Droid/Milestone
what u think is it do-able with galaxy?
You can do audio and charging through the USB port, using a 365k resistor between pins 4 and 5 of the plug to enable desk dock mode, and some software to route the audio signal through the USB port. You can charge at the same time by supplying +5V through the Vin pin (pin 1) of the USB port.
The Apple dock pinouts are as shown on this "ipod dock adapter for Motorola Droid" post.
Using a Bluetooth dock adapter would give you the play control functions of the Apple Dock, I can't think of a way to get these with a direct connection.
hey guys all good got the phone to charge and sync using the cable but i cant get the 3.5mm TRS plug to work. tried numerous plugs but no go. ive got the wire strand shield twisted and goin to pinout 2, red wire goin to 3 and white going to 4.
i re wired it up n tested the cable n it works fine just cant get it to work when wired to the ipod board.
any ideas/help?
thank you LaurensJ!
you solved a problem i didnt think of trying to solve before...hehe

Just rcvd my TranzIt USB car kit.

So I wanted an inline audio option for my 2004 Isuzu Axiom. I hate FM modulators, especially due to how I love road trips, always running into some nosey radio station trying to annex my music. I don't have a tape player, so those nifty contraptions are out. And if you saw how Isuzu decided to combine a radio, a/c and onboard computer (of sorts) then you would understand how complicated it would be to simply replace the radio (hell, I would lose the ability to change through different suspension presets among other things). Yeah, it is possible, but is it worth it, meh.
Well, w/me joining Google music beta, I have finally decided to do something about it w/this purchase.
For those that don't know, the TranzIt offers a direct, inline connection to your stereo by hooking it up inline through the antenna in. It also adds a 5volt charging station via USB, which, if I understand correctly, is the correct voltage for charging mobile phones and such as opposed to the voltage used by car chargers.
I also got a 1 meter long micro USB cable at no charge due to some special.
Obviously, it's not connected just yet, but I should be able to install it this weekend. After which, I'll update this post w/install pics, a review of both installation and actual usage. Once I get home, I'll edit a link into this post, but again, I can't verify whether it's worth it yet.
So, here are some pics still in the box...

ok thats a inline fm modulator with a usb charging port the modulator will cut off the antennas connection to the radio while on and you will still have to tune it to a certain frequency to use it. but that is deffinatly a better option then using the regular fm modulators.

Yeah, but the operative statement "will cut off the connection to the" antenna feed, is what makes me so happy. My options are limited, and if I want to keep the installation at least fairly simple, than that drops my options even more.
I plan on placing the USB and audio in ports in an unused and available spot on the radio itself (basically next to my sport suspension preset and winter TOD preset) they have a couple of other areas that look like they were meant for other options and could look stock. Then I want to mount the power switch to on the dash or maybe in the center console next to the CD changer. The cord is more than long enough and it would be less conspicuous. I want it to look as OEM as possible. And looking over the contents of the box, it shouldn't be difficult to make it look like it belongs. I've done much more complicated NOS switches.

I use the car charger to charge my G2x and I use the old tape player adapter for CD players and plug it in to the headphone port on the phone. Works awesome!

Yeah, I LOVE those tape player adapters! The sound was great, but my stock radio doesn't have a cassette player. But you're right, that is an awesome combo.

That's my hook-up also. With PowerAmp, those Bose speakers in my Maxima are getting a work-out.
Well, it only took me almost 20 days, but today I decided to brave the 100+ degree heat and connect it up in my Axiom.
It turned out to be an easy set up, well, as far as connecting it up. I connected the power to the leads connecting to my cigarette lighter, although, when I go back in to place the connections in my console [or maybe in my ashtray, just some cuts to allow the wires] I think I'll directly connect it to the ignition.
Now for the review. F'N AWESOME! I'm running CM that comes preinstalled w/DSPManager, so I'm given a full gambit of audio options. Even w/o that, it still comes out crisp and works well w/my oem stereo and the options available through it.
It gives a 5 volt charge, which is the correct voltage as opposed to most car chargers that don't have the ability to drop down the voltage.
My only real issue is the fact the USB connection is for pwr only and I have to use a 3.5 audio connector to play the music. So I have 2 lines running from my phone to 2 separate jacks... I won't say it's a small issue either. I'm big on as few cables and as neat as possible, so this is a thorn in my side. I also understand though, that it's not as simple as just changing the wire or the USB port, so the possibility I'll ever find an aftermarket connector that offeres all in one isn't going to happen.
Overall, considering how much simpler this is than getting a new stereo, then customizing my console [the Axiom combines the A/C controls, GPS, damn near everything into the head unit] this was a much better option for me and I'm glad I got it.
best bet would be to hook into the accessory wire on your ignition. that way it only runs when your car is on.
is the cig lighter powered all the time? if it is you can hook a relay in between the cig lighter and car kit and use the accessory wire as a signal wire to tell the relay to turn on the power.

Yeah, that's the plan, the ignition at least. The only reason I connected it through my cig lighter was to get it done fast. I don't have the USB or audio port set where I want it either. I wanted an idea on how I liked it prior to putting any real time into it, especially cutting for the ports.
Several days into it now and I love it more than before. Decided I'm going to modify my ashtray to house the ports and the power switch. That way it'll stay incognito for the most part [since the available pop out tabs on the head unit aren't large enough to house the USB port for a more OEM look] and the light that activates at night, when opened, will be great as far as not fumbling around for the connections. Won't be this weekend, but once I get some time, I'm finishing this project up, my interior looks GHE-TTO and I don't like it.

[Q] Help me with Video out cable?

Ok so I have a minor problem. I want to make a video out cable for the MT4GS. I have the right tools, and know-how. Anyways whenever I just use a 4 3.5mm male jack (has 4 metal contacts instead of 3, don't know what to call it), and use a rca cable and get it hooked up I can use it and it works fine sometimes. It seems that, when I get it working if I open the T-mobile TV app it shorts it out and stops the video out. And sometimes when I just plug it in to the rca port on the TV it acts like its shorting out. I don't have any shorts in the wire and no wires are touching to create a short. The only thing I can think of is maybe the voltage is going backwards into the headphone jack on the phone. Would adding a diode help with this? Anyone have any ideas or helpful information? Also to add I can get the audio out working from the phone to TV working fine, I just seem to have problems with getting video to work properly. I know I could always go and buy a cable, but I want to make one, because its cheaper.

Just remember, your time is worth money too! My cable was less than $3 including shipping, that is less than a half hour of my time, at minimum wage no less!

Ehh, well I don't want to wait for shipping, and in stores here they're like $10+. Anyways it's not like soldering is a burden to me. I just don't understand why it's not working. I mean the 4th contact would be used for both mic input and video output so the only thing that I can think of is voltage is traveling back into it instead of traveling out. But TV cables don't have any diodes or anything like that so I don't understand. And anyways it's not like I have anything better to do when I'm not working.

Galaxy S II Vehicle Mount - Audio Pass through

so i got my new dock and with some modification i am quite happy with the results.
now the big problem i am having is that while the dock will put the skyrocket into charging mode it will not pass the audio trough the docks
has anybody achieved this or knows how to make this work?
when i have it on speaker mode playing music and put it in the dock the music will stop playing via the speakers and actually come out of the headphone jack so i believe that is a software issue and not a hardware issue.
anyways i hope that someone can help me.
thx

Looks like the Infuse 4G mount? It works pretty good if it is. It can be used with a very slim case like the TPU, but it is very tight and the USB connector will not work while in a case. If it is the Infuse mount, it will charge the phone but the Audio will not pass through the USB. It has been discussed many times (you might want to do a search on the subject) but I don't think anyone has been able to get audio through the USB yet (though I think some have tried).

haha well after some heavy dremeling it does. ..actually i simply took the infuse mount apart took out the "usb module" and epoxied it into another mount..works well with a pretty big skin...ill post images later. (its not as clean asi would like it to be but it works just fine...(besides the freaking audio part)...

I've gotten audio from my SR into my car stereo through the USB port(not the infuse mount, just a regular usb cable). It's a little tricky and weird, but I figured it out.
For me, I have the pull down menu open, connect my phone, as soon as the option to enable access pops up on the phone, I enable. Takes another 20-30 seconds and then it goes nuts with Nav information.
Then I just folder up using the radio dial and get into the music folder on my SD card (for me it is folder #53) There is no track or artist or album info, but at least it works.
I suspect the two metal connectors embedded into the volume rocker could have something to do with putting the phone into a real "car mode." The Galaxy Nexus has three dots on the side of it so it could be this or just some chrome polish.

When using a MHL HDMI adapter I get no mobile network

I bought a pioneer x8500 stereo for my car with an HDMI output. I purchased what looks like an official MHL adapter on Amazon for $28. Each time I plug the cable into the Pioneer I completely lose all mobile data, I cannot even make or receive phone calls and have a circle with a line through it in the notification bar. I can see my screen on the headunit and do everything, even use Wi-fi but no mobile data, which is really important! When I unplug it I get it all back. I tried the MHL on a TV using the HDMI and I can see the screen same as on the pioneer but still no network until I unplug it.
I have a SCH-i545 rooted S4 running 4.3. Kernel 3.4.0. SE for Android status is enforcing. I had the verizon antivirus installed but removed it. I don't know if its something on my phone preventing the connections or the adapter is defective.
I have tried everything I can think of, even wrapping the adapter in tinfoil but nothing helps. I have a Garmin external GPS plugged in below the stereo and the satellite loses its signal when this is plugged in. It may be a coincidence but I have never had that happen before.

I have the red cord if that makes sense. (It was cheaper and was supposed to work but never did). You have the bpx looking one correct? Little white/red/whatever. Do you plug the power in on it? Try switching how you plug it into power.. i.e first plug in adapter count to 10 or 20 then phone. Or plug in all at oonce and radio last.. Just throwing things out there that i've seen on reviews from otherbuyers of em

I bought a genuine Samsung adapter and it was heavier and packaged different than the samsung one that I sent back to Amazon, it works fine now. It even charges my phone using a USB cable plugged into a cigarette lighter adapter. My other car adapter kept making the HDMI cutout and I think it just didn't have enough power. I am still trying to learn and get tasker to work properly and so far I am able to start up my music player and then launch Waze on the phone so I have GPS and Music on the big screen. I also use screenstandby so the phone screen saves power. On the radio side I have Mixtrax working with a 32GB mircosd card plugged into a USB stick, (that took a while to figure out because it DOES NOT work with apple) an 16GB SD card with Movies, my160GB Ipod with songs, Audiobooks and Mixtrax EZ, a DVD in the player and my phone for pandora via bluetooth but when I use Pandora I have to reconnect AVliberator. I wish I could have Waze working from my phone and my Ipod music player through the speakers. As soon as I get it all working perfectly I am going to do a video tutorial for those that had my same issues but no where to figure out how to solve them. I have a parking brake bypass switch installed that I have to click everytime I launch the phone so I can view the screen.
