I have seen a lot, and I mean a lot of threads turn into a flame fest immediately after the OP posts. People just want to contribute. Especially new members. Why is it so many of you feel the need to turn any thread you don't like into a total bash fest? REALLY?! I come here to see new things, learn a little, contribute and be informed... Instead I get to wade through a mound of worthless posts and constant thread resurrections. If you don't like it, don't post in it. Isn't that simple. Apparently not for a bunch of people. Why not spend your time contributing or not posting. It would make this place look and feel a lot more like a DEVELOPMENT FORUM than a kiddie pool. There is a general "talk about anything" thread already, so use it instead. Hopefully these words will sink in to a few of you. And don't flame this thread! I've been here longer and modded more than most of you so I feel I have the right to point out what a mess this place is becoming.

Some of it is just out of good clean fun and ball busting. I myself like to tease, kid around, and have fun. Most of the other people here do as well. Most stuff posted here isn't to be taken seriously. Although you are correct some of it does get a bit out of hand.
All the new topics in general of members telling us what to do and what not to do here is getting old. If a member has a problem with my comment I will tell them I was just kidding around. If they want to discuss a comment they can feel free to pm me and chat any time. But a mod nor a member here has never told me I acted out of line. One member snapped a bit until I told him I was just kidding and me and him are cool. Some people just have bad days and feel attacked.
In all honesty we are the calmest section on this board that I've seen. Everywhere else is 100x worse. We like to have fun here.

I have a problem with members making threads telling other members what to do, but I don't make a thread about it. Take offense? No, obviously though some people get offended easier than others.
My post today which has since been deleted was not meant to be trolling. In fact it was the first time i made a joke here at all.
I was trying to draw attention to a problem and it obviously worked.
Feel free to label me a troll if you wish but as far as i am concerned xda is not a trolling ground and i am far from it. Do i know how to push buttons? Yes but only when necessary.
Nrm and i did exchange a few cracks but as i said they were in jest.
So if my thread was seen as disruptive i apologize. I was just trying to help those like me who wanted to see a little change.

Same goes for you. You and I have no qualms and id love to see you jump in any future threads of mine (given they aren't development once i get there! LoL).
On one hand Im glad the mods cleaned up a bit. On the other i hope i didn't create a monster where no fun at all can be had. There needs to be a balance and a place. Only time will tell!
Regardless, as stated before i think our forum far surpasses others and Im glad to be here and can't wait to post some development! (a little trickier than i expected but Im slowly getting it)

I noticed that the AOSP Style X Rom was removed from the development. I decided to look around for it online because I never saved it on my computer. I am simply re-posting it just in case anyone wanted to download it again.

+1 to that. I have to agree here. airfluip1, you do have this attitude and although I can't tell whether it's bad or not because it's only letters, they may sound troll-ish or offensive. I have been a troll sometimes too, I admit, in extreme cases. I know it's frustrating to deal with lots of people and mostly when questions are stupid but that's something devs should be prepared for. I really don't mind because the attitude has been around for some time that I'm used to it and just not in developers, but users and specially those that think they are above others because they self proclaimed forum sheriffs.
Anyway... I look forward to more AOSP Style so take this as constructive criticism, if you want to. If not, it's OK too.

Oh no, I'm so scared to get this removed. I clearly stated it wasn't mine. Just trying to help people out who never saved the rom to their computer. Its a good rom and I'm sure I helped a few people out who wanted it.

LOL yeah I noticed the ETA asking.
I've been in there a few times. Once to ask FB & Bryan where to post some logs for their review. The times after that was to just hang out, see what's being discussed, and socialize a bit.
My point is that at no time did anyone kick/ban me nor was anyone rude. It was pretty laid back.
If/when you're back in there Airfluip, just be chill & you will be treated with the same respect as you give others. Not trying to say anything against you by any means - just offering some advice from an old guy
PRO tip. If you had just idled in the channel you would've gotten all the info and updates you wanted. There are a few users who do this and they get the info they wanted because they just stay there and read what we have to say. Once I get back to my computer I can maybe let you join the channel muted. You won't be able to type anything but you will get your progress updates

Now after your posts I realize why there isnt anyone posting info for the new guy to the site your working on your comedy acts. You say these things when you yourself feel above the rules you have been called out before xda is a community and when you do what is expected you can gain a ton of knowledge but being lazy is not an excuse diggit you posted the same question twice so my guess is nobody messes with Bluetooth alot otherwise you would have gotten an answer but since there are no custom kernels for ics features are limited that's not an excuse for you to be silly and act like we are in the wrong all you new guys need to just chill and soak up what you can but use common sense too if we don't answer its for a reason 1 its been posted 2 we don't know

Tv out control isnt built into any of sgs4g ics's...i have an ics tablet that has tvout always on...seems like an easy fix. But then again i havnt developed anything but a headache.
Is it possible to just change a 0 to a 1 somewhere?

Yes it is that damn hard to change the 1 to a 0. Because that is not all it takes.
If you think it is all it takes setup a build environment fix it and submit the changes to team acid. Otherwise STFU. There is more important things going on in the development then to turn on the tvout ability for you.

The guy complained again about not having this functionality.

Next thing the guy says "I'll fix it myself" (in a childish manner) though he said he doesn't have a clue.

I hope that more users will notice how we act here from other device subforums.
It drives me crazy when I try to read through the dev forum for sgh-i717 or most other devices, and it's almost impossible to figure out what the developers are doing, what issues are current, who is doing what... I mean if the idea is to be a development community and you can't track the development or have the ability to contribute because you know what is going on... So many users asking questions about the rom or kernel when there is a Q&A thread for that specific purpose. It really works against the community, and you see the high output developers leave because no one contributes to their projects and their threads are thrashed. It's stressful to be the only dev on a project, I have some experience there.
Thank goodness for contributors and other devs for jumping in on some of the projects I started or we started together or the projects we have now wouldn't exist. Not to mention the other devs that kanged that work to make something even better. I don't look down on that, because it keeps the flashaholics happy, and we all get to learn about their skill sets.
I think our community gets that. And the trolls just sorta get squeezed out by reporting their posts and keeping threads on topic.

I agree with you its frustrating to have ten million questions that have been answered or are self explanatory.
However if you goto the device the op is talking about they have multiple versions of the same phone all lumped into a category. Each one had a development section but there is only ONE q&a section. And with the amount of development on that device the q&a section moves extremely fast. That doesnt mean its ok to post questions in the dev thread AT ALL! It does mean the devs should be linking q&a threads in the first post so people arent hunting through 20 pages of current thread just to find it.

This is a under used suggestion. Even if in the wrong place answer the question move on. Report posts of people telling people to use search and not actually helping keep the thread clean. Think about it. How many times have you seen somebody post hey man use search and then multiple other people will do the same thing? I think I have been guilty but I try to avoid doing that anymore. If I cant offer a answer I dont post. It keeps the noise down and people from misunderstanding me.
