IS there an app folder that can categorize apps?

Is there an app folder that can categorize apps? Just like Iphone 4, where you drag the app to the folder, it automatically categorize it, so as to save space... Thanks
Where are you looking for this folder to be? Home screen? Application drawer?

I use ADW Home, and there's a great new feature where you can categorise your app drawer... basically means you can hide stuff you don't want to see... you can't just hit one folder to see the hidden stuff, it's like press munu, then activate a different drawer group, but it's easy enough.
There are also some aps out there that do what you want, but I can't say what they are, nor have I used them.
i have ihome, this app mimic the iphone 4, the folder feature is very disappointing. but atleast its there...(no auto cate on droid.)
the home screen is 89% like iphone. atleast they gives you the iphone homescreen only it isn't smooth as.
Try FolderOrganizer

Home screen, just like ICr*p 4 when you tap on the folder, the sub-folder appears.
You can add folders on the home screen just like widgets then drag the applications inside it.

There is an app I think called apps organizer that lets you categorize apps, then you can add widgets to you're screen that look like an app shortcut, for a particular category, and when you tap it a folder with shortcuts to all apps in that category opens. I think it is apis organizer, I will go check in market. I had it before the last time I reset and debranded, actually never thought to reinstall it until just now.

Is there a way to categorize apps into folders Within the App drawer?
i dont really like cluttering up the homescreens but i would like to neaten up the app drawer as its full of crap that i hardly ever use but would still like to keep on the phone (google goggles, wikitude, google skymap) things like that
I use the feature in adw. The only improvement I would like to see is an easier way to switch drawers, perhaps icons at the top or bottom of the app drawer.

I was wondering if there is anyway I can change the new folder text when you create a new folder on the home screen and is it possible to change the icon to better categorize them.

Set certain apps to startup on boot?

I want groove ip and twitter to start on boot because sometimes i forget and groove ip is my source for voice calls.
Is there an app that will allow me to do this? I looked in the market but could only find apps that could disable apps from auto starting

Tasker can do what you are asking just set up a profile to run on device boot.

I got tasker but i have no idea how to set up the profile lol
No problem, to set it up open up tasker:
On main window click New 'bottom center' enter a name for the profile somwthing like' auto start'
Now from the First Context menu select 'Event'
From the Select Event Category select 'System'
Now select 'Device Boot'
Ok, now you should be at the Task Selection Dialog click 'New Task' and give it a name eg 'Apps startup' but any name will do.
From here the Task Edit window click the Plus sign at the bottom right
Click 'App'
Then 'Load App'
Give it a second for the apps to spawn and choose the app you want to auto start.
Once selected click done on the new window
Repeat the last 2 steps for all the apps you want to auto load.
Once you have selected all the apps you wanted to load on start up. Click 'Done' on all windows till you are back to the main tasker window. Hit 'Apply' and you should be all set up.
Should the icon on the top right of the main menu be a check or ban sign?

A check mark means active the red ban sign means inactive. So make sure it's the check mark.

Hi! How to make an app be launched in the background / minimized? It there a universal parameter there to use with launching an app task? Like -m / -minimized or something like that?

[Q] Question Regarding File Managers

Could anyone let me know if, when you put several apps into one one folder on your homescreen - say all your games into a single folder, is this folder then saved as a file in the device's storage and can it then be located on Astro File Manager or any file managers? And if so where is the folder located?
Thanks for any help in advance,
Kev
Whatever launcher you are using will store this information, either way in a shared_pref xml or more likely am sqlite database file. For instance, on CM10.1, which uses trebuchet as the default launcher, it's in /data/data/com...trebuchet/databases/launcher.db
Not super accessible, but yes it is "saved" somewhere on your device, but really this is just a list of the apps you placed in your home screen folder, not a folder of apps in the conventional sense.

Thanks for the help. Would you have any idea where it would be located if I'm using AOKP and Nova Launcher? Basically all I'm trying to do is to create a new homescreen icon using Desktop Visualizer to open my app folders. I've seen ways to do it using other apps such as Simi folder but I'd prefer to have the stock Android interface when you open the folder. I've noticed with Desktop Visualizer, when selecting what to launch, you can open something from the file manager and so I'm hoping I can use this as a way to open my App folders - if I can locate them.
Any other ideas are very welcome! Thanks again

[Q] Viewing background copy instance in Astro File Manager

I'm using Astro to copy some files and I accidentally hit "Background". I have an active notification saying the copy process is still going but when I select the notification, the app comes back up but doesn't show the copy process.
Is there a setting I have to change or somewhere I have to select to bring it back or what?
