i think it would be great to be able to have a picture of the rom devs and people on here in general so we dont feel like we are talking to robots.
and im never on facebook but it would be a good to get the name xda out to people who are on the bar between android and something else. 99% of people i tell about xda have no idea what im talking about
anyways just thought. lets hear what everyone else thinks.

Its really sad that i forbid myself from ever having a myspace or a facebook, but i just signed up for the site thing....damn xda

it's a good idea, but we need a cdma hero group. not just a xda group.

I think this is a good idea. All members should be allowed to join in though. From the people who don't code at all. To the beginners and experts. A wide variety is always a good thing

Of course if you're going THAT far with it you might as well just...umm....post on xda...?

Until someone posts a comment about how they can't boot into recovery...
Then suddenly half the people will jump on his ass for being a n00b then the other half will get annoyed because it will clutter the page

That's SO funny you mention this! I actually just found this really cool online site where you can totally hook up with other developers and HTC Hero owners and discuss ROMs, fixes, themes etc... you can even send private messages and post pictures!

Beta is out, if its ok I will post.

Got my invite as well. So far looking good. Nice GUI plus response. I find it WAY faster than Trillian Beta, although some Skype and Video exchange might be good for next release

The end of the email reads:
"Also, please understand that the build is only for folks who have registered with us for the beta program and is not intended to be shared with any one. "
So now I ask you. Do you think its ok to post it?

That's cute, but why should someone have to Google something that someone's advertising. Obviously if you announce that something out its to garner interest, no? With that being the case, ways the harm in typing even a one sentence description? Seems pretty common sense.

And I just realized that the last two responses before that post could've been a simple description as well, but acting like someone doesn't know what Google is in an Android forum seems to take priority over posting something useful.
Anyways for anyone who doesn't know, it's a messenging client for multiple services. I love things like trillian on my pc so ill be waiting for this one

I'm on it now, it rules. I just pray that it doesn't become a permanent beta like the wm version

I love beejive. I use to have it o. My blackberry and well worth the money for how well it worked. I used it mostly for Facebook chat but I used some MSN also.

I'm using it now. This destroys Trillian. Does anyone know if it uses Froyo's built-in push notifications API, C2DM ? I'm concerned about battery life.

Androidica has an active link to the download for what its worth.

this is a pretty popular app, thats why I didnt bother getting into detail, and Trillian has been out for beta use for the public, not a fan , and im sure you will say that when you use it.

He just posted today in development forum to announce that KB1 source is out. This, after we've known about it for a week, and already have custom kernels built off the source. Makes me want to add a second punchline to a joke I read:
There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. I would have loved to but that might not have been a good thing. I know I said I would keep you up to date and you guys know as much as I do right now. I will see what I can find out today.
On a personal note. This is not the stance of XDA or other mods, just me. I would not worry about SJ. He seems to be as much help as a blind nature guide, but i will find out something and let you guys know what is going on. (no promises though lol)

Blind nature guides lead you on fun adventures! Sure you'll stumble around a little bit, but with lots of hope you might eventually get to where you want to go!

i would gladly donate a few dollars to help the great morfic get this phone but we have to come up with some sort of benefit for the people that dont know what he does or have never used his work.....

id say only people that donate to him can use the pre released beta/alpha kernels he makes....
but that never really seems to work and get alot of interest...

i.e. i donate 15 bucks he puts in 15 bucks
so its not all of the community paying for his device just helping him
or maybe he should send out thank you android cards made from his blood and sweat to anyone that donates.....

Yes he is a great dev. I'll set up a fund somewhere, let me see what i can do. Might not get to this tonight but i will get to it. I have been talking to him all day today and he is a great guy. Just for the record I will probably be throwing in 50 bucks myself.

In terms of a fund, why don't you have one of the mods here hold onto it. Mikey1022 and Ryanmo5 are good guys. That way people knew it was going to the right cause Just a thought

Agree with this! Maybe make a Facebook group like TW/EDT.
TW once release a built exclusive to the FB group and everyone respected it and there was no leaks!

Based on my geek level, a dropbox.access on.a.shared folder if people prefer this added benefit, I can do similar over mailing list to unpublished links on my host.

In short - users should learn to do research and not ask for handholding. Users who need handholding are NOT ready to run CM7 in the current state that CM7 is in.
