[Q] Need help removing LauncherPro. - Verizon Droid Charge

I'm running Humble v1.33 and cannot for the life of my remove LauncherPro. I'm wanting to remove it because it's stuck on my phone and I cannot update the app in the Market.
1. I've tried through the Market, where it does not give me the choice to uninstall.
2. I've tried through AppBrain. I go to Uninstall which does bring up the uninstall process on my phone, but when I click OK to uninstall the app, it says Uninstall not successful.
3. I've tried through Root Uninstaller. I select LauncherPro (located in sys btw) from the list and select Uninstall, and I get ".apk file not found" pop up.
4. I've tried through Manage applications. LauncherPro is not listed in the "Third-party" category, but is listed in the "All", where I can only click "Clear data" while everything else is greyed out.
Not sure if this is a ROM issue or what, so I thought I would start here. What are other options? I'm stumped.

Here are the steps needed to remove it:
1. Install another launcher such as ADW
2. Use root explorer and navigate to system/app
3. Mount system as r/w and delete the launcherpro apk
4. reboot the system
5. install launcherpro from the market
6. Uninstall adw or whatever launcher you temporarily put on there.

Forgot to try Titanium, which actually removed it. I've never mount the system before though...

Go to settings> applications> manage applications > all > launcherpro
and select clear defaults
when you click home button it will ask you do you want to use launcherpro or whatever other launcher is on there. If you followed the first post then you've already changed it. If not this way will allow you to set a new launcher. Now you can clear cache for launcherpro and uninstall.

[Q] How do you uninstall apps?

Hello,
If an application doesn't have an uninstall button is there a way to remove it?
I'm specifically wanting to remove the market app. I think I screwed it up when I installed it and it's completely useless. This isn't a "market fix" situation, it won't open for me at all. I tap, get a quick screen flash and it goes right back to home screen.
I was wondering if I could uninstall, then try to re-apply properly and hopefully get a better result.
Thanks.

Guessing here... depending on the version you're running.
Settings | Applications | Manage Applications | Running | select Market | force-stop | uninstall
I'm running the stock 3389 firmware.
Market shows up under system applications, no uninstall button. I can do force stop but that's it.

Maybe I don't need to bother trying to uninstall or remove the market. I'm reading through the enhancement thread now, I haven't installed that yet. Could be what I need to get the market working.
using Root Explorer, if you don't have it, get it otherwise you'll have to do this using adb shell or terminal, /system/app, mount r/w, rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak that will uninstall vending. I would do a data/cache wipe using TI first on Market. Then reboot and rename back to Vending.apk, I've had to reinstall it before due to issues.

I was using stock 3389 and of course w/o the market. After I installed the enhancement package and did the market fix according to the instructions I now have the market and it works fine as does the gtab itself. I have a feeling if you did the same it may fix your problem. If not, at least you'll have the updated tegra drivers. Good luck!

Moved to general as not android development
are you rooted?
it sounds like your launcher program is not working. If this is the case you can try logging into your android market account on your computer and pushing ADW launcher to your ROOTED android phone.
I am not sure if this will work with a galaxy S device, but I had a similar problem with my rooted mytouch 3g. I installed a custom ROM that had an outdated version of launcher pro. Thus no home screen, and almost no way to get to my applications. I went onto android market and pushed the ADW launcher to my phone. It downloaded and installed, and voila, fixed the problem.
You can give it a try.
yes I'm rooted.
curious...
did my suggestion work? The one issue is that your interface will no longer look so much like touchwiz.
You might be able to find that original apk somewhere on xda or somewhere else, and then reinstall it.
ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro are both excellent alternatives to the stock launcher that comes with the phone.
Thanks Man! Here are the Instructions!

Thanks Deckard your idea worked! But TW launcher reinstall was unsucceful...I installed Tag Home Launcher and that went great! I had to:
1. Power off Phone.
2. Press Both "Up" And "Down" + The power Button to get to Recovery Menu.
3. Delete all User Data/ Yes
4. Reboot phone
5. On the Tutorial it showed me a link so i clicked it which opened the browser or one can press the search button and say "go to " google dot com"
6. once browser is open go to "market dot android dot com "or simply go to the market web page or simply google tag home launcher apk
7. install then complete the wizard. it will give you the option to select which launcher to use.
8. Done!
But for some reason i still cant use it.
i have to use the Tag Home. Is there anyway to delete TWLauncher?

[Q] How can I uninstall Swype?

There is a new Swype beta out that I want to get, but they say you need to uninstall Swype before you can install their new beta. When I go to Swype in Manage Applications, the button to uninstall is greyed out.

because it is a system application. why would you want to hassel with30 trials of betas when the phone has an official swype?
but if you must you need root and either titanium backup or a root file explorer. the apk is in /system/app delete it or use titanium to uninstall it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101232
yup, (only works with rooted phone):
install "Root Uninstaller" from the market (free)
remove swype using "Root Uninstaller"
force close "swype installer" if it is running. If it thinks swype is installed, force close it and open it yet again.
swype should prompt you to log in this time.
it will then download the newest and greatest version and you're off - big improvement over the broken infuse 4g default version. Added advantage is that the rooted kernel fixes the touchscreen accuracy problem near the bottom of the screen that is present in the stock kernel and makes swype almost unbearable.
Root Explorer > Mount R/W > System > app > Swype.apk > hit delete.
Root Explorer > Mount R/W > System > lib > libSwypeCore.so > hit delete.
Done.
Or, go to the market and grab titanium backup, cruise through list of programs till you find swype, press it than press uninstall. Either/Or lol. Just don't go poking around too much and go uninstall happy. Might not like the results. That's why I love custom Rom's

[Q] Can not uninstall one "unkown source app"

Hi everyone!
so I installed an application (extended controls) "from unknown source" to check it was working on my tf and worth it.
and I can not uninstall it from application manager. force stop and unistall aren't available. i tried to install other versions I found and i got the same issue.
Is there a harder way to uninstall it? i couldn't find any
i'm rooted and on ICS stock.
thanks.
use titanium backup and uninstall it [or settings -> apps -> find it uninstall]... or find the apk and delete it from /data/app/
next time... don't pirate apps. theres a refund window for a reason.
Worked. thanks a lot!
i'll keep your advice in mind.

How to: Uninstall System Apps on NP

hey everyone, i've basically been lurking the xda nexus player forums for around a month now - slowly modifying my nexus player for my needs. most topics seem to be covered, except for uninstalling system apps. i can't even find info for uninstalling system apps on the nexus player via google either.
ok, so even though the nexus player runs android 5.0 it for some reason doesn't have the ability to disable system applications. that means you're stuck with applications you don't use bloating the leanback launcher, apps such as google play movies or google play games. out of interest, today i decided to take a plunge and try to get rid of those. surprisingly, it worked!
steps
1. unlock the nexus player's bootloader
2. root
2a. update supersu to 2.40
2b. open supersu and agree to the update prompt
2c. reboot np via the dialogue box that pops up3. install es file explorer 3 via the web browser version of the google play store (you don't need to sideload it)
4. open es file explorer via: settings -> apps
5. open the 'tools' area on the left-hand side of the application
6. scroll down to 'root explorer' and click the switch to turn it on
7. click the 'backup app and data' option
7a. locate apps you with to backup, longclick/press the apps to select them
7b. scroll down until backup is selected (or click on 'backup') and back them up, just in case8. in the left-hand panel until tools, click/press on 'root explorer' (not the switch) and select the 'uninstall system apps' option
8a. locate system apps you wish to delete, lockclick/press the apps to select them
8b. scroll down until uninstall is selected (or just click on 'uninstall') and the np will uninstall updates to those apps via a leanback menu
8c. select the apps again, select uninstall again, and an es file explorer prompt will ask you if you really want to uninstall those apps. select 'ok'
8d. wait until es file explorer says the apps have been uninstalled9. reboot the np: unplug power cable, plug back in
i used this method, and nothing broke. you can always re-install the system apps from the backup folder, although i don't use the google play apps so i doubt i'll need to do this. i also wouldn't be surprised if the next system app re-installs any missing system apps, although at this point you have an unlocked bootloader and are rooted so i doubt we'll be able to update ota anyway. lol.
confirmed list of safe to uninstall apps:
google play games
google play movies
google play music
Nice. Been wanting to get rid of a couple things like the Japanese input app that shows up in alternative launchers

but i am already pretty familiar with es file explorer, and most are probably either using that or airdroid to sideload their apps already so eh - two birds with one stone in my eyes.
