it was the early batches errors ??? - HTC Sensation

this is a Q for the new buyers of july
the phones produced in april , may and june .... had alot of problems and the next batches have less problems and some problems were solved ??
i m confused about touch screen problems and lock screen issues and laggy sense
as the dhd has the nearly same hardware and running sense 3 very smooth ?? so could all these issues be a software or hardware ?? or batch related ?
i m going to get my first android device and i dont like samsung devices so i decided to get sensation but after all these complaints i m bit confused and my mind is changing toward dhd

I got mine in early July, no problems yet.

tmobile store told me that every store on tmobile that is, gets about 300 in stock, so it really dont matter when you got it because if you just got your phone chances are you still recieve one out of that 300 instock from day one. i dont know to many who actually went and puchase a sensation because of no advertisment for it my friends didnt know it was out till now

oh ok i see what you mean you could be right

my experience
think its just about the "bad apple in the bunch"
my experience is i bought first one in june with prod date 5/25/11 made in taiwan...had touchscreen issues after a week(due to charger related issues), NO dust under the lcd.
exhanged for new one got prod date 6/15/11 made in china after 4days lots of dust underneath lcd(in sunlight it was clear to see) after wk touchscreen issues(again i think related to charger)
my 3rd and final one is actually...get this the same one i had originally with prod date 5/25/11 made in taiwan...been more then 2wks and no issues or dust very happy...but im also using my usb from comp to charge my phone(i hear and have had experience from using other chargers and one it came with causing the issues with the touchscreens)

i bought mine i think middle of june... and the touch screen lag is still there whenever i pull the ring to the middle to unlock and the camera issue at the lockscreen...

just curious, What screen does your final TW unit have? the AUO or the Sharp?

Mine is one of the earliest in the US. Bought it on June 8th from walmart and I have had zero issues.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4g with extreme prejudice

Bought mine around 1st of July, production date was just a few days before. No issues here, except that WiFi reception is not very good (But NOT a deathgrip issue, just in general).

i tried one middle east version from one of my friends and in the shop, i'm trying to get one since two weeks but its a pain in the ass to find stock.
there is no death grip or lag at all and his phone is not carrier based and there is no touch screen issues or any of this **** at all, and btw it is as fluid as the evo 3D.
he got his device on 30/6/2011
case date is 26/6/2011

Ok, inside the cover it says 2011/05/03. Is that May or March? And where can I see the date on the box? I have the unbranded Sensation.

It's May because mine says 2011/05/30 T
I have the screen unresponsiveness issue and will be getting a replacement on Tuesday. Hopefully it'll be a more recent build and will be ok.

I replaced mine for an earlier version, less buggy but still...
I think that this bug is user related (grounding of your house, grounded chargers, skin type, user's phone history, climatic conditions, etc).
Because in every forums i posted, touchscreen bugs seems to be independant from the serial number orphone batch...

Newly produced G2x Today

Well, I've been cringing thinking about getting the G2x due to the large post with all the flaws etc. But after getting over it and going to the T-Mobile store in my area i just received a phone with a manufacture date of 4/29/11 and so far;
No LCD bleeding
No random reboots (as of yet)
No auto shut downs
No wifi issues
No reception issues
Battery life is great (first booted the phone, charged to 100%, then immediately did a factory reset)
So basically if you're interested in getting this phone, don't listen to all the hype (which almost got me to not get it)
Just make sure you're asking for the latest manufactured date.

Well this certainly sounds promising to me, as I'm on the waiting list for a replacement and the issues I've had occurred right off the bat. The backlight bleeding is getting worse though :/

Which store? I have to referee out at the Field of Dreams tomorrow and I would not mind swinging by to see if they have any more of these pristine phones
It is at the fiesta mall area around alma school
Not to doubt you, but there's no physical way the phone could leave the production line in Korea, get to a shipping depot, make the trans-pacific trip, get to a T-Mobile distribution center in the U.S., and to a T-Mobile outlet in Arizona in four days.

[Q] New (Replacement Phone) Why can't I get a new one?

So my Sensation has been working beautifully since I got in on June 8th at Walmart. The touch screen starting acting up today July 2nd and it isn't bad but the lock screen freezes mostly and I can't unlock the phone for a until after a few attempts.
I called T-Mobile and asked for a new phone since I have insurance. They are sending me either a "new" or "like new" phone. Does "like new" mean that the phone might have scratches on it? I don't understand why the phone is only a little more than 4 weeks old and I can't have a new phone?
Is this common?

Vodafone Uk only allow you 7 working days cooling off. After that you are locked into the contact and any faults with the phone have to be sent for repair and when this happens you may get a "quality assured replacement" rather than your own. Sounds like phone companies the world over try to [email protected]#k you over. Complete joke.

Officially thats correct, but mine (UK Voda) started to have the touch screen problem after 3 weeks, called them and they sent me a brand new one, i don't know if I got special treatment as i have been a customer for ten years or that they know of this 'fault' and are just replacing them, regardless i'm on my second.

Just FYI the SH16 thing has nothing to do with it being a sharp screen it is part of the serial number, and so far there have been no reports of a Zenith screen. Just want to clear this up before more rumors get started.
As far as a replacement device from Customer service they have to tell you this because it is there policy. However the device is new and they likely will not start shipping refurbished units for at least 4-6 months and maybe even longer than that. You will be getting a new device just different packaging.

Are you sure? I got into a big fight with the rep on the phone saying that I paid $148 at walmart for a new phone, and have it a little over 4 weeks (not even a month), and should expect a new phone. The rep told me I would not know if it was new or like new until the phone came. I just don't want to get a phone that has a scratch on the screen or anything like that. Am I just over reacting lol? HTC Sensation Z710A - Telstra - Australian Edition

Hi Peoples,
I have recently purchased the HTC Sensation Z710A - Australia Edition which operates on the 850 Mhz Band for the Telstra network in Australia.
I was just wondering if anyone wants a ROM rip of this radio/OS. If so, does someone wanna swing me instructions so I can dump it for them. Its running HTC Sense 3.0 and has all the usual trimmings, just operating on the different frequency bands.
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-g6d6a25c
Baseband: 10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3
Build Number: 1.35.841.6 CL83095 release-keys
As expected, its a S-On edition, bootloader locked.
Thanks
I got a Telstra Sensation, too.
Can I ask you, what panel did you get? AUO or Sharp?
To find out which panel you have:
Use terminal emulator (free from the market) and run the command dmesg (root is not needed obviously)
it will output a bunch of stuff.. look for this line and report it: (if you can't find it you can long press on the output in terminal emulator copy all and then paste it into an email and send it to yourself)
just look for the line (the numbers might not be the same) [ 9178.895111] Panel Type = PANEL_ID_PYD_??????

If you have Sharp, it means Telstra is importing both; and I'm gonna take mine back and complain.

Mine is:
[ 736.330833] Panel Type = PANEL_ID_PYD_AUO_NT
In saying that, im not sure what grounds you have for a complaint, even the thread you link indicates that the difference is negligible?
Hope it helps though anyway dude =)
I have a friend who needs to buy this for XT in Telecom NZ. Will this phone be any different in regards to upgrading the ROM etc ? I remember the HD2 had a split for manys month with the t/mobile version.

It's most definitely not negligible.
Any high contrast environment (white text on black background is most evident) makes the screen ghost and flicker blatantly.
To be fair, I haven't seen a Sharp screen in person, so I don't know if it is better, though everyone says there isn't any of those problems with the Sharp at all. But the AUO is unacceptable.

we had a sharp panel and acer panel side by side today (sharp was a grey import) and we noticed negligible difference if any between the two...
Hey Kezzainc,
Yeah, its likely it will be different. The radio will be 100% different from what is on offer for the US versions (currently) So you'd have to wait for Telstra (at this stage) to release new ROM/Radio.
In saying that, its likely as the 850 version gets rolled out globally, we'll see some more standard ROMS built, like Cyanogen etc. but this is probably not gonna happen until around August when Boot Loaders start to get unlocked....

Just bought mine yesterday as well from JB Hi-fi. Haven't used it yet because the case and screen protector hasn't arrived yet.
I'm itching to use the darn thing.
also rocking a telstra sensation as of yesterday (got the desire on global launch and the sensation on telstra launch, toot toot).
checked my screen deets when browsing thr WP thread, and i have an acer too. Whilst if you look for ghosting its there, its not an issue to me. Im pretty sure that every unit telstra has will be acer as well. The taiwan units are the sharps (Which is alot of the US).
I think some of the tearing is also due to sense, not the screen. Im happy with my acer fed sensation.

HTC One Mini Cracks

Hi guys.
I have recently upgraded to the HTC One Mini and I have to say that I'd love this handset if it wasn't for the fact that the plastic edge/chassis keeps cracking. I am on my second handset as Vodafone were happy enough to replace my first one when I reported this issue to them but it has happened again on my second. These small cracks were not there when I first got either of the two handsets but seemed to appear after a few days of use. I have been back to the store again and they will replace the handset or let me change to a different model/brand so there is no issue there. My question are: Has anyone else had this issue? As I can't seem to find any info on other instances. And, Does it's big brother the HTC One have the same issue as I may upgrade to that?
Cheers guys any info would be appreciated.
So I got mine from Vodafone the first day they came out ..your post has had me scurrying to a bright light to check.
So far no cracks...pheeeew
Where do they appear for you...can you take a picture? Are they the same place each time?
Can you think of anything you may be doing that could trigger it? Heat etc
All the best,
Sam

I do have photographs but I can't upload or link them as I don't have enough posts. I will do it when I achieve the 10 post mark.
The situation at the moment is that the Vodafone store manager has passed photos onto the local HTC rep and we are awaiting a response. As for potential causes I have no idea as I am particularly careful with my phone's (to protect resale values) and even more so as this is a brand new handset.

Keep us posted.
Hi, I'm planning on getting this phone in a few days. If you want you can PM me the pictures and I'll upload them in this thread for you. Otherwise you can probably upload them to an image hosting site and then link to them.
I experianced the same issue !
I preordered the mobile, I got it like a month now. I take care of this mobile. It never fell on anything.
But it has this mini mini cracks on the plastic edge (left corner, downside.)
It wasnt there when I got the phone, but it appeared from nothing !
Same as yours.
I guessed that the phone got hot while charging, and the aluminium started getting a little bigger. So the plastic was pushed outside and cracked.

after 5 days no problems and no cracks, i keep you updated if something happens.
I received mine device yesterday and have spotted no cracks.
wonder if this is vodafones (euro) mini or the US as well. I'm abit hesitant now on picking this up with a chance that the plastic frame might start cracking later on.
Hopefully this will work. There are a couple more cracks on other photos but I have left them on my laptop at work.

Not much has changed since my last post I have noticed one more crack and I am still waiting for the store manager to get back to me with feedback from the HTC rep, I may pop in tomorrow to follow up on the issue.

also have a small crack at the volume down button... and I even use a silicon case
mine is from Vodafone-DE.
Is everyone having this problem using this a Vodaphone user or is it happening on all carrier's versions?
I hate to say it but mine is still crack free. Got it from Vodafone UK on the 17th August.
Crossing my fingers here...
Hi,
I have also two cracks, one at the volume down button, and one at the bottom side of my mobile.
Vodafone DE will replace it, but actually they know nothing about this problem. Looking forward to my replaced mobile.

Same cracks at exactly the same positions, also with Vodafone-DE.
I will wait for the black-version - don't think it will work, but maybe I will get a new black one
i have one on mine near the bottom... its a new AT&T model
its not serious enough for me to be bothered... pretty much every HTC phone ive ever had has had some sort of manufacturing defect like this (HD2, Sensation, MT4G, One, One Mini)
i've got about three cracks on mine from ATT- doesn't seem like too big of a deal but if it leads to something (for anyone) we should all agree to come back here and say.
Got a new device, warranty by VF DE. Actually no cracks, production date 01.09.2013.
Hopefully better quality...

BUY or NO BUY?

i'm realy in a need to have a new phone.
oneplus one is still the best price for a new phone.
but like i see every where. BAD GROUNDING issue when its in a car stand or table so u cant use more than 2fingers. and ghost touches.
i dont want that.
cause i write very fast smses. so if the touchscreen is not folowing me im gonna go mad.
and that grounding would be anoying also cause i always internet in my bed. so.
help IS THIS A PROBLEM WITH ALL PHONES? i cant seem to find a awnser any where
Bad grounding? No idea.
Ghost touches? Fixed as of yesterday. Was a problem with the drivers which is up to Synpatics to resolve, not Cyanogen/OnePlus.

if readed that if you put it on a pillow the phone wont work (touchscreen) something with the bad grounding. don't know if its the right word
atleast last month like july some where. i asked a XDA developer "carburano" ex developer from my LG O2X
he got the phone in july and didnt recomand me it and that he won't use it and give it to his dad. but now 2 months later i wanna know if there are things fixed
cause 300€can't find a other goood phone. lg g2 is 300€ from ebay new. but without douane TAX.. so i need to add 20% to the price. and that doesnt make me happy.
this what he said. to me in august
"It is a great device but with an awful touchscreen... It has a bad grounding issue (hardware) that cannot allow more than 2 touches when you will use your phone in car stand or on a table... Also it has a bad software bug regarding touch driver"

It's hard to comprehend what you are saying, I've had my phone for a few days now and it is great. Coming from a Nexus 5 it seems like it is a good update and for the price I think it would be worth getting this over a LG G2.

I have heard absolutely nothing about grounding problems. As far as the touch problems, they weren't that bad and have been resolved as of yesterday.
I can tell you for sure that you won't be disappointed with the device. If you have a invite, buy the phone. I'm typing on my phone right now and am typing as fast as I can and have problems. Although you will need to flash a custom kernel to get the newest fix until the Ota is released but it should be very soon.

THX. See people he has no more problems! :highfive:
okay yeah sorry i write fast on pc always. and never read back what i write.
will see than. invite shouldnt be that hard. got invite like 20 times kept saying no for all that problems.
but thanks. if realy the touchscreen is fixed, its worth the shot. (now that i learned that the lg g2 isnt 299€ like i tought... stupid import tax 20%more on the buy price, not cool) i acualy dont want to spent more than, 300€ on a phone. so yeah.
The grounding issue you speak of is the exact issue i had. If the device was lying flat on a pillow for instance not plugged in the screen wouldn't register more than two fingers simultaneously. This has by a large degree been fixed with the latest available update 33R. Now there is already a new firmware on its way, think around next week, that is going to completely fix the issue and @zephiK just mentioned in another thread that there was another update added just over an hour ago so this issue seems to be well on its way to be done and dusted.

Its based on the newest kernel, build number has nothing to do with it.
The commits for the touchware firmware update is not in the latest OTA just yet.

Its in the kernel, you need to flash Franco r17. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for the official OTA to be released with the new kernel which contains the new firmware. All firmware/drivers are in the kernel.
hum, still not sure.
i don't want a phone that anoyes me....
Don't buy it then. But you need to realise that only a small percentage of these phones actually have any problems. The vast majority of these phones are perfectly fine. Don't just listen to the loud people complaining, they're always the most vocal.
